Jocasta's Reading Room / Re: Comprehensive TPB checklist anyone?
« on: February 3, 2003, 01:42 AM »
Thanks Brad!  I've got that Wishbook sitting around my house somewhere too, but didn't think to check it out.  Maybe when I've got some time, I might cross reference your list against the Dark Horse site, which will take a while as it would require the same methodology - pulling out the TPBs from all the rest...

But at least you gave me something to chew on for now.  Time to play catch up now...

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Vader hand variant
« on: February 3, 2003, 01:33 AM »
Hmmm... I'll be damned.  It does exist.  Someone else pointed me towards some nice pictures of the different versions as well.  I have seriously probably looked at nearly 1,000 Vaders, and have never seen one.

That last auction you just pointed out bummed me out Thomas.  That seller lives about 10 minutes away from me, and his "clenched" hand Vader only got one bid for $6.99.  Argh!  Wish I knew about this sooner...

I had seen the reports, and even several pictures before, but since I had never seen one or knew of anyone actually owning one, just figured it was a hand positioning change which created an optical illusion.  Guess I was wrong!  Time to start searching now...

I don't collect the 12" line anymore, but just thought that I'd mention that I saw the new Saga 12" Leia Boushh and Han Carbonite 2-pack at a TRU yesterday.  It comes in a pretty small Saga box, with try me packaging for the Han Carbonite - which is really just an electronic slab (no Han figure).

Anyways, it's out now, so if you collect this line, start keeping your eyes peeled for it!

Oh. :'(  I thought it was going to be next year because of the release schedule on the other two films. Thanks for letting me know.
The films have always been released 3 years apart from eachother.  TPM was released in May of 1999, AOTC was released in May of 2002 and Episode 3 is due out in May of 2005.

Same went for the Original Trilogy:  ANH was released in 1977, ESB was out in 1980, finally followed by ROTJ in 1983.

Unfortunately all of them have been three years apart, so we've still got a couple years to go for some more fun.  Those spoiled Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter fans get to have their fix every year.  Not fair!

Jocasta's Reading Room / Comprehensive TPB checklist anyone?
« on: February 1, 2003, 03:10 PM »
I only collect the Star Wars TPBs (Trade Paper Backs), rather than each of the individual comics.  Unfortunately I've fallen several years behind in my collection now.

So I was curious if anyone out there has, or knows of, a comprehensive checklist of all of the TPBs released to present (and beyond)?  I realize that the Dark Horse site has a huge Star Wars checklist, but I hate sifting through all of the non-TPB stuff to find what I'm looking for.

Thanks to anyone who can possibly help out!

Truly heartbreaking to witness another terrible tragedy like this.  Just a horrible story to wake up in the morning to find waiting for you on your TV.  My deepest sympathies go out to all of the friends and families of the seven heroic astronauts who lost their lives.

I hope that NASA is able to pinpoint the cause, and rebound with their space program soon...

Modern Classifieds / Re: selling all my non-vintage
« on: February 1, 2003, 02:15 PM »
Just a note to our readers that these items are off the selling block here, and up on ebay instead.  You can still bid on the entire lot if interested right here.

Hey Frank -
Just wanted to say that I'm glad to see you make your reserve on all this stuff already.  Hopefully you'll get some more bidding on it as well, and make a few extra bucks for some of those nicer items you have included.  Good luck with the Vintage collection!

The Spider Droid isn't terrible, but of course seeing that big, nasty, white, wind up dial protruding to activate the walking action feature is NOT cool.  It also looks pretty small, scale wise.  But like I said, it's not the worst thing I've ever seen - not half bad.

The Trade Federation Tank was a pretty nice vehicle it's first time around in the Episode 1 line, but I know that it was very hard to find for many people, so for that very reason I'm all for seeing it re-released.  Besides that fact, it's an "army builder" vehicle, so I'm sure some people would like the chance to pick up a few extras as well.  Bring it on!

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Darth Vader hand variation...
« on: February 1, 2003, 01:45 PM »
Does anybody know of any photos that show the difference between the Saga Bespin Vader variants (hand). I've seen the one on the Rebelscum banner and I checked Sirsteve (he has comparison pics, but, they're not the same angle and hard to confirm imo) Thanx in advance. :)
I'm VERY interested in this as well.  I really don't think this variation exists.  It most definitely was NOT a running production change, as people had speculated.  I think all it was, was just Vader's hand being slightly turned inside the package so that his palm was facing up, rather than out, as we are accustomed to, thus putting his fingers in a different position creating the optical illusion that they were now more in the clenching motion.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this Thomas.  Ever verified it's existence?

Oh dear...  I didn't expect that quite so quickly or harshly Brent!  But welcome aboard anyways!

At least my boys spanked Sacto pretty badly tonight while the silly little Celtic gals got annihilated by 52 points by the Pistons - at home!   :o   Wow!  Haven't seen a blow out like that in many years...  And this 1-15 shooting Antoine Walker is actually an All-Star?!

Anyways, glad to see you stop by B.  Now go slap a copy of your trading list in the forums, and I might just hook you up with that Holiday Droid set!   ;)

Welcome jedichirp!  We hope you enjoy your stay.  So what kind of Star Wars stuff do you collect?  Looking forward to hearing your thoughts around the board.  Hollar if there's anything we can do to enhance your viewing pleasure here!

Welcome to JediDefender!  Glad to have you aboard.  I'm also a Star Wars freak!  Hope you enjoy the place, and please don't hesitate to let us know if there's anything we can do to better suit your Star Wars needs...

But I should warn you, you might want to wait until 2005 to show up at Celebration 3.  If you go next year, you'll likely be the only person to show up!   ;D

Greatly looking forward to C3 myself.  I'll see ya' there!

Saga '02-'04 / Re: New Saga ESB Tie Bomber.

Well, unfortunately this is on a store by store basis.  Right after I posted my question above, I got a tip from a buddy that a local Walmart had them, so I rushed over and snagged a couple.  I held my breath as the cashier rang them up, but was sadly disappointed to see $28.64 pop up for both of them.  Bummer!  Oh well...

So I've now seen several different reports of these things being sold for a measely 10 bucks at Walmart.  Is this true for all store locations, or have a few people just gotten real lucky so far?  I'll definitely snag a couple if they're only $10 each!

Anyone else come across these yet?
