Zeb/Stormtrooper MS set... Zeb a direct McQuarrie design? I'm in!
-
Again, the pics of the Legends wall didn't turn out all that great for some reason. :(
Here's Zeb and Stormtrooper pack. Zeb was pretty much ripped off from inspired by McQuarrie Chewbacca:

-
Wow that REALLY is ripped off. :P
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate it because it is... It entices me to buy more of it, haha.
-
Who better to steal from when it comes to designs than the late, great Ralph McQuarrie?
-

-
Aren't they deriving most things in Rebels from McQuarrie? I don't mind one bit, as his concept work is possibly my favorite aspect of the Star Wars universe.
-
Seems that way.
That TIE Fighter, I'm sure I recall seeing a much smaller "pod" looking TIE, but I think it might've been one of Johnstons designs. The walker's been in EU lore for eons now already.
Sooooooooo wish we'd seen a Stormtrooper transport. That must be made or there will be rage.
-
They made a point of calling it out in the presentation. Its a way for the Rebels show to seem familiar to Star Wars but make it "all new" to the casual fan who isn't so aware of those designs.
Another one they called out was Kanan's "mission gear" Hero 12" figure - recognize the backpack (and YES, there will probably be a 3.75" version of this Kanan at some point in the line I was told ;)).
Again, this is a 12" Hero Mission Figure:

Zeb is pure awesomeness, I'm loving that figure, articulation aside. I've already added this set to my Must-Buy list for 2014.
Agreed the Troop Transport HAS to be made for this line...
-
Umm, so Zev was inspired in Mc Quarrie Chewie, I thought it was developped on the basis of The Star Wars lizard Solo.

Pics are just placeholders, but it looks like there are plans for:
- Sabine vs Stormtrooper
- Chatro vs. IG droid
- Wulffwarro & Kitwarr (wookiees!)
-
Nice nod to Ralph McQuarrie in the name too, IG-RM.
-
Ah, thanks, was wondering who those guys were. I am SO excited for this line, I can't wait!
-
It looks like a solid line-up for Rebels this fall. At least 16 different figures (assuming the Mission Series/SL Stormtroopers are the same) between the 2-packs and Legends. There are also potential crossover characters, like TIE Pilots or the Royal guards. While I am not overly fond of the 5POA, the pricing is fair for the quality so I'm sure I'll pick up some figures.
-
These just might make me pick up 5poa figures now. I've avoided them until now.
-
Glad to see that they're pairing up these REBELS characters with Stormtroopers. It makes troop building a little more organic. And the cost of the 2-packs will present a little bit of value, too.
-
Nice to see the Rebel ladies in figure form finally. Like others have said, all the main characters + Stormtrooper 2-packs should help kids mass up a pretty nice Stormie army. :P
-
Agreed, Sabine in particular looks awesome. (Bo Katan custom waiting to happen)
I believe the Hera 2-pack is a brand new reveal, although it was known we would be getting her at some point.
Where were the Chultro Vizago/IG-RM and WulffWarrd/Kitwarr 2-packs though?

They always save a bunch of stuff to freshen up the booth after the Friday panel/presentation. Wouldn't surprise me if they pop up then...
-
So what is with the vintage style reissue of Bossk and IG-88?
-
I thought they were just more 5POA figures, not really more vintage than any of the other 5POA figures coming. I think IG-88 even has a removable bandolier possibly? I couldn't tell by the pics really, but it looks like maybe it is.
-
According to JTA's Q&A, the rumored Mission Series 2-pack with Ahsoka and Anakin has been cancelled. :(
This had the potential to be pretty cool, little disappointed on this...
-
I have to say some of these packs shown at SDCC look pretty nice. I don't know why, but I'm really digging the Wicket/Scout Trooper pack - nice sculpt on the ewok. The Bossk/IG-88 pack is appealing in the vintagey sort of way as well. I still haven't decided what I'm going to do with the Rebels stuff, but in a way it looks like it is shaping up to be kind of a fun line. I remember thinking the same way about the CW stuff, especially in the first couple years, there was really a nice variety of characters, plus, vehicles and mini vehicles and all of that. For kiddos jumping into the toys alongside the show, it could really be fun. I have a feeling I'll be checking them out as well, particularly at the more affordable prices.
-
I agree 100%. Outside the deluxe 6 inch this was the highlight for me. I'm a fan of these and I get why people aren't but combining the vintage aesthetic with the outstanding sculpting and not to mention the price... I love it. I'm glad to see some of these characters again. I know I've bought them time and again but these are hallmark pieces (Wicket especially) and it's likely we will not be this way again with these characters. Starting next year it will be an unyielding avalanche of new. Bring it on. But let's enjoy the OT one last time before.

Nice case ratio for splitting with friends. :)
-
Looking forward to the Ezra/Kanan set...the TIE Fighter/Stormtrooper set looks like simple repacks of the single carded figures though. That seems like an odd choice so early in the line. Would rather have had some Imperial Officers in there...
-
I thought it was odd pairing them up too, but then I know a lot of us have been asking for basically this army building type of set for years, so it's great to see it finally. Hopefully we see more of it and more OT focused.
-
Found Sabine/Stormie today. :)
Sabine is a great looking figure... looking forward to them hopefully/eventually making a non-helmeted Sabine some day as well.

Good luck with that ever happening with Hasbro's recent response to a recent Q&A I read on JTA

We're not interested in your rape culture!

They couldn't cost out a new head for Sabine, it would throw their proft margins into madness, my friend, madness...it may be difficult to secure its release.
-
Well, that didn't take long - don't know if they are basic figures or Mission Series, but Ahsoka/Vader figures are coming this Fall! (http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/tv/2015/03/03/star-wars-rebels-season-finale-exclusive/24245017) :D

Ahsoka looks pretty bitchin', and if that's a 2-pack, I even like the Vader's McQuarrie-ish look enough to want it for my desk. Ahsoka looks pretty great though, for a 5POA. Not QUITE as animated looking as Sabine's figure looks, for instance. I'm maybe tempted there again.
-
Can't wait. These look great. First thing I said when I saw both Ahsoka and Vader tonight was it will be great buying their figures on 9/4 and yes it will be. ;D
-
Love, Love, LOVE the figures of them!
-
ARgghh! Was not expecting spoilers in the toy thread! :(

Stay off the Internet, please.
-
Per Yakface, these two are in Mission Series set together. That strikes me as a little odd since they're absolutely strong enough to go on their own, but maybe Season 2 starts with some face time between the two...
-
I was assuming it'll be an exclusive of sorts? Maybe not.
-
Even though these figures feature 5 POA, these figures look pretty cool. I actually like some of the stylization on Vader.
-
I was assuming it'll be an exclusive of sorts? Maybe not.
The way distribution is, perhaps it will feel like a limited edition exclusive.

;D Yeah, everything feels a little "limited edition" these days...

That is some great scoop! This is gonna be a tough one to track down unfortunately. At least with the Ezra variant there were plenty of those TRU multipacks laying around to pick through. I haven't even seen any of the new 2-packs lately outside of that one week they showed up at Target.
