2025 will likely be pretty similar to 2021-2024 for me:
We are still in a bit of a holding pattern with my WFH office/collection room renovation. I've considered my current space just a temporary collection room, but it has been "temporary" for five years now. There's a chance it will still change this year as we are talking about a significant home renovation or moving. (It is crazy that a collection room can be a deciding factor for a house...) Space is running out in my room as is, and I have 80% of my collection in storage and just rotate out my displays.
Star Wars 3.75" --
This is still far and away the primary focus of my collection. I mostly focus on TVC & the newer modern lines. I am one of the absolute rubes who Hasbro has suckered into collecting BOTH LOOSE & CARDED. Loose is my main focus but a few years ago I needed a backdrop for my Zoom meetings and had some unopened TVC figures lying around, so I threw them on the wall and then it just kind of stuck. I still have some older pre-TVC carded figures, but I probably will get rid of most of those and stick to just the TVC cards & a few select items from older lines (like the TAC McQuarrie figures).
For the Hasbro line I generally do 1 of each figure loose & carded and I still army-build. I am currently backfilling my TVC 1.0 carded collection and try to pick up about 1-2 older figures per month when I see them for a reasonable price. I do not care about minor variants but do try to grab the MAJOR ones for each VC#. There are also some older modern-era figures that I either missed when they came out or got rid of that I have been picking up as I see them.
I'm sure at some point the space required & money involved will make me reevaluate all of this, but I am not there yet.
Star Wars Other Lines --
I occasionally pick up The Black Series 6", TBS Helmets, HotToys, & Tamashi Nations samauri figures but am generally very selective and only grab it if I love it and have a place to display it, generally no more than 3-4 total pieces a year from all of those lines combined.
Game of Thrones & House of the Dragon Funko Pops --
Funko hasn't been making quite as many of these in the last few years, and I mostly still collect the line, but the vast majority of it is in storage. I used to be a completionist outside of some of the rarest chases versions. I have most of the common pops, and theoretically just need some of the rare and chase variants, but I haven't felt motivated to track them down or spend the bigger bucks on them. I will likely continue to pick up commons on these but I have slowed down drastically in the past few years on these. Since most of these are currently in storage, I have been seriously considering how much longer I want to keep collecting this line and have considered selling it off.
LEGO --
While I still very much wantto collect all of the LOTR, SW, classic Castle & Pirate sets, and the collectible Mini-Figs, I just don't have the space (or $). Most of my Lego are in currently in storage and I don't have room to build or display any of it. I may pick up some sets here and there if I really can't resist, and may try to grab Rivendell & Barad-dûr before the sets get retired, but it is more likely that I won't pick up any this year.
Jazzwares "World of Halo" --
I found a few of these at Ross in the last year and really like them. Given that the line isn't too large I may track down a few more figures from the line for a small diorama/display, but due to limited space, it won't be too many more.
Other Lines --
Outside of all the above, I will occasionally pick up some SW/Marvel/random Pops or other random items if something really catches my eye, but I am generally pretty selective. Given that space is running out that will likely continue.
