Title: What is the Pride and Joy of your Collection?
Post by: Valtar on August 15, 2003, 01:14 AM
This Question was pulled from StarWars.com fourms thought it would be a cool little thing to do on these boards as it seemed to be a big hit.

What piece of Star Wars history (or present) is the pride and joy of your own Star Wars collection and why? It can be anything, from the wrapper off your first SW video to the most expensive piece of art offered in the history of the world. Share!

Mine is my 12" Darth Vader Signed by David Prowse... I Have alot more items that are worth much more than it is, ut its the only Autograph I have from the Star Wars Universe / at least its the only one I know for a fact to be real.   :P

Well, originally my pride and joy were my two Blue Snaggletooth figures (http://www.chrisrhoads.com/starwars/collection/vintage/blue_snag_2.jpg) that I have from childhood.

But now I would have to say that my current "pride & joy" is my orange carded POTF2 Boba Fett figure signed by Jeremy Bulloch.  I have never met any Star Wars actors in person before, and this was my first autographed anything that I have gotten.  So, it was just one of the most memorable and honorable moments I've ever had relating to Star Wars.  Jeremy and I talked for 5 minutes about anything & everything.  He's a great guy to meet in person.

This may sound a little silly,  but one of my most prized pieces is my orange carded Tatooine Stormtrooper.  My signifigant other bought it for me a couple of years ago and surprised me with it when I went to California to visit her. :o

Either my ILM "Rumble" sweatshirt or my complete run of Jango Fett: Kamino Escape figures, considering I am the only person in the world with all 7.

Got proof? Sorry, but I actually have a hard to believing that, are there one of a kind pieces in that run or something?

Boy..tough call.  I'd have to say it's my autographed pictures.  Since I was able to obtain them all personally, they have a special meaning to me.

Runner up is my framed Queen Amidala picture from KFC.  It's such a gorgeous piece and something that very few people have.  This isn't the best picture but it's all I have at the moment:

If you’re counting stickers (i.e. Japanese TOMY), how about the Hasbro UK released US card with European sticker + the new Gold version on a Hasbro UK released US card with multi-European language stickers covering the lower third of the cardback and the POP?

There’s noting in my all-post-`98 collection that’s worthy of a particular mention other than my Watto’s Box Seat set that was very hard to come by in the UK.

My pride and my joy eh?

Well, having only 130 items in my current 3 and 3/4 inch collection, I can truly narrow it down to...my ARC Trooper. Since first I laid thine eyes on this awsome design in the comics, I said, gee, I wish I had one of those as a toy.

And look.

Now I do.

The pride of my collection bounces between several things. One is a styrofoam r2d2 that stands about 5 feet tall, he was a shampoo/ soad display from the early 80s. he is very fragile of course so not very many survived. Sansweet has one and gus says he has one, I have never personally seen another one.
Second would be my collection of vinyl banners. They are sentimental becuse each one was its own challenge to "obtain". None were paid for because no one would break company policy and sell to me when done. Taco Bell had alot more than the banners so I quit my job and became a Taco Bell store manager to have first and only dibs on everything (plus a second round of all advertising to keep new in the box.

And third is my employee pass from Celebration 2. Has my nme on it :)  :)  :)

A vintage Chewie I put on a card and star cased. More sentimental value as it was the first figure I got back in 1978.

This is a really tough question.  Everything is my favorite for different reasons.

All my vintage stuff, because it's what started me on this little frenzy and are my favorite childhood toys.

All my original framed movie posters up in my living room (now that I have all six!)

My MR Obi-Wan sabers, just because they look nice on my desk.

Also I really like my "oddball stuff"--The SW Nascar cars I have, the film trailers, Darth Tater, C-1, C-3 and insider passes (Need to get the C-2 ones) and the Disney items Jedi Mickey, Darth Mickey and the star tours pass, just because they're not the standard action figure n such have a great appeal to me.

Well, This one's a bit of a story. I had a temp job being an assistant to the promotional director of 20th century fox for the premiere of ROTS, and he paid me in tickets (Two to be exact). I got to reserve seats for VIP's and myself and the person going with me. I brought back what we used for reserving the seats. It's a piece of paper that says "Reserved For 20th Century Fox Employee" and it's got the ROTS logo on it.

The premiere was awesome, too. I got to watch the film three hours before everyone else and a really cute girl was in the seat next to my reserved one when I went to sit down. We were flirting and I got a date with her, lol. It was quite funny, actually. our conversation started along the lines of: "Hi." "Hello." "I sat here 'cause I figured if i'm next to a reserved, these must be good seats." "Well, I am a 20th century fox rep  ;)"

I would have to say my DeathStar playset. It's one of the first SW toys I ever had.

I think I mentioned this in another thread somewhere else on the boards here, but my favorite piece and the one that I would mourn longer and harder than any other piece should I lose it all is the 1983 Burger King ROTJ glass with Vader, Luke, the Royal Guards, and the Emperor on it.  I got it when I was a child, and I've kept it safe ever since.

It has no monetary value, 99% of the collecting world couldn't care less about it, but it's my favorite piece and it means more to me than everything else in the collection.  :)

Very hard to say.  From modern it's probably the Riddell Stormtrooper helmet.  I really love the Riddell helmets adn that one's just plain neat.

Vintage stuff would be Yakface.  It's a cool figure, much better than the modern version.  I thought I'd be paying a fortune for it but I managed to score it, in excellent condition for only $65 on ebay.  I was the only guy that bid.  Strange too because it was listed properly.

I have a new "favorite" piece... my 1977 original Star Wars Style "A" poster:

It's not in mint conditon - it's got some pinholes and a lot of edge wear - a lot. But IMO that just adds something to this piece, seeing as it was more than likely hanging in a movie theater some 27 years ago, and survived all this time. Plus I got it for a steal (under $10). I'm really digging my poster collection lately, and I'm always looking to add to it. Next item I want to go after - and that will most likely take the place at the top of my favorite items list - is the ESB 15th Anniversary Mylar Boba Fett poster. I've wanted one of those sine the first time I laid eyes on it. Man I want to kick myself for not buying it back in 1995.

Ha!!

Actually, I don't have Han and Chewie, but I also want to acquire them someday, as they are the only two I'm missing. I picked Obi-Wan up on ebay for about $7 one day, but I've been unable to find the other two at a reasonable price.
