I got both in my hands this morning and am kind of torn on what to do with the carbonized vs. standard figures.  I'm an opener, and don't really want two nearly identical versions of the same figure.

I think the paint job on the carbonized Mandalorian is kind of neat, but I'm not sure if its $5 neater.  It kind of bugs me that Hasbro did this and made a paint variation.

How are you guys approaching this?

I have to echo your sentiments about not sure of what to do with this figure...  I picked it up this morning, though I already had the first edition (white package) version from an earlier stop.  I think I’ll just hang onto it for now.

Good question I have been pondering too. I think I’m going to keep my Carbonized versions boxed and just open the non-variants to display. Same thing I am doing with the Archive Series.

I hope this doesn’t become a regular thing though, I don’t have room for many more of these.

Public Service Announcement - you might want to keep the Carbonized figures boxed.  I'm seeing a lot of social media shares from folks who opened them saying the paint flakes/chips off the Carbonized figures and weapons very easily when they were messing around with or posing them.  :(

Here's a few examples from YakFace Twitter -

Thanks Jeff.

I was giving the slight edge to keeping the carbonized version, but now I'm not going to bother if a month/year down the road this thing is all flakey.

Well that seals it for me, in the box they stay. Thanks for the photos Jeff!

Good intel.  I was planning to keep mine boxed and will do so permanently now.

That’s pretty messed up.  And here I thought that the old vac-metal figures had delicate finishes.

Saw some indications that these are shipping again.  Anyone having luck tracking down carbonized Mando's?

I've read a lot of people finding them and some Targets have a label on new set. But also sounds like scalpers are grabbing them all at once.

There were 8 on the shelf at my local Target Wednesday morning. I passed because I don't collect the 6" figures. I stopped by again yesterday to maybe nudge myself into buying one anyway, but they were all gone.

Yeah, I read someone bought 2 case worth, but he's planning on trading for figures that he is missing in the 6" line.

I've never seen these (not that I plan on buying one), but I've never seen the regular release either.  I feel that first ROTS/Mandalorian/game wave didn't get the usual production... or maybe it's because TRU is no longer around.
