Hey everyone,

I am glad this idea is picking up steam. I am just thrilled that I can provide something back to the custom community. I would have never thought to take on this project if I did not have the backing of the community. I think this experience will be better than working for Hasbro, at least I know my sculpting will be appreciated. As for charging for each custom cast head, I was planning on the first head $5.00 (this will include shipping) and $3.00 for additional head. The more heads purchased, greater the savings on shipping. I am not really out to make a lot of money on this, just to cover my expenses for materials. I am really having fun with this. Just in the past week, I managed to sculpt 4 heads (one finished and 3 WIP). I mean come on, where else can I get to sculpt the Cheyang head for Farscpe and then turn around and sculpt the seer Aughra from Dark Crystal the next? This is Awesome!!! Thanks everyone for allowing the opportunity to express myself here ;D ;D ;D.

Keep checking this thread for progress images of each head. And if you want an alien head that you do not see on the list yet, send me a pm or post your request here and I will add it to the list. The list is just for me a map so I know what head to sculpt next. I would like to sculpt as many sci-fi heads as possible (even star trek ;D).

Thanks again,

Hey everyone,

Master_Phruby: Thanks for the comment, and yes I do plan on making casts of these heads and make them availible to you all. I posted this questioniar on this thread:

http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=11677.0

Only you have responded to it, so far. I have posted a simular questioniar to the RS forum and I have been bombarded with orders and requests for their favorite alien head. I will post the request list that I started over there here so that you all could give me your requests and see the progression of the heads as I post new images.

hemble: Thanks for the kind words. Put together a list of charaters names and post them on that thread or send me a pm with your wishlist and I will ad them to the list. I will work down the order as they are posted. I am working closely with Bantha5 on getting the wax and refinning skills down to proffesional level work. Once I have mastered that, I would feel more comfortable doing the whole figure at that point. Heads are more managable right now with the setup I have.

I will keep you all posted on the progress of these heads and share some of the ideas I have like the Minbari Jedi I just posted. I think with these heads, we could double if not tripple the custom posibilities hear.

Thanks for the support,

I am up for the Admiral Daala as the group project. I made one a long time ago, like back in 1997, man. I would like to revisit her as my entry. Or, how about that female sith twe'lik that I have seen pictures of floating arround the forum. She would be fun to do.

Hey everyone,

I have a real quick post for you all today. This is my Narn male head, G'Kar from Babylon 5.

Also, I picked up a AAYLA SECURA figure at Toys R Us mega buy and slapped on a cast of the female Minbari head on her. I need to know how diffrent the neck posts between each character. It was a good thing I did so, not all ball joint are the same for each character. Mon Mothma's ball joint is bigger than AAYLA SECURA. This can be modified from figure to figure. Anyways, here is a quick pic of this Minbari Jedi.

Thanks for stopping by,

I say we do the imperial officer/ trooper as a group project. I think there will be a problem doing the Ephant Mon custom for lack of avalibilty of the base figure. Heck, I do not even own a carded version let a lone a loose one.  How about a gladiator custom for the monthly custom chalenge. The entries could be fan based, from the cartoon clone wars, the creaturs on the chess table, from the video games (Bounty Hunter had a gladiator sequence between to alien creatures), other expanded universe sources, ect.  Another example I saw on e-bay a few months age, someone dressed up clone troopers with spikes and chainmail and other armor and weapons. They were pretty good, kind of like the clone troopers fighting in the roman collosim games. Of course, the best part, there would be endless supplies of resources to hunt down for each custom. Thats my two cents.

Hey there Fritzkrieg,

I do not know much about this figure except from what I have seen everyone else’s customs, but I do know a thing or two about painting plastics. If this figure is like a styrene type of plastic like model cars and such, then enamel paints would be the best. Durable and they bond well with styrene. If the figure were more like Hasbro action figures, injected molded, then acrylic paints would be the best. It’s a bit flexible and will bond ok with the plastic. Now as for chipping, any playing or using the custom with the any paint job, will have natural paint chipping. Even the store bought toys are not immune to chipping. Even though a paint company says their paints bond with plastic, they do not specify what type of plastic their product has been tested for.

I hope this helps,

Hello everyone,

I thought I should make a separate posting covering this question. Who here would be interested in my alien heads? I have a few private messages both from JD and RS forums asking me for cast of these heads I have been making the past week now. I want to get a feeling of who wants them, how many I would have to make and see if I could provide enough. So if you want your own Minbari or another alien head I make, please sound off here. Also, if you have a request for an alien head, I need to know if you want it in a ball joint or peg head and what gender. Pictures are always helpful.

Thanks everyone,

Hey Chewie,

Great update! These look great. Here is my comments for this update:

Rykrof Enloe: Very stelthy looking, nice paint job. The costume looks very lived in. Nice blending of the dark red with the black. I say don't brighten the paint job, it looks great as is. Just my opinion.

Wookiee: Again, nice  paint job. I take it you used dry brushing technique on the fur? I'm not shure if the wookie would have yellow bands, I would think it would be more earth tone color. Again overall great paint job.

Urban Sniper: I normally do not comment a lot on the clone customs since I have not tatcle this subject. I do want to say that this sniper is BANGING! I love this one. That hood is a great accessory. I also thought while looking at this, that would also work for a hood for the Commander Faie along with a modified speeder bike poncho.

Urban Commando: This is another fine looking clone. I like the weathered paint job and the choice of accessories. When looking at this I had a thought, it would be cool if you had one of sith_fire30's Imperial Commandos helmets on that body. Maybe not one of the desines thats set aside for the fan movie, but one of the conceptual designs they did not go with. Just a thought.

Nute Gunray: This is a beautiful custom. The colors a eye poping. Very nicely pulled off.

Hod the Blind Amill: This custom I left feedback over at the MCC. It still amazing piece of art!

That will do it for me today,

Is it Hasbro or Memorex? ;D Great paint job you got there. I love the fact that you painted the body glove a diffrent color than the armor. Nice attention to detail there. Good looking Shadow trooper, let the shadow game begin (woops, wrong tv show, Yugioh! ;D).

Master_Phruby: Thanks for the feedback. I think I found my nitch in the group. I really like makeing these. I plan on doing a hole lot more. Imagine, a Luxan Bounty Hunter from Farscape, or a Centauri Jedi Master. The posibilities would be endless. Thanks.

Glassman6: Thanks for your feedback as well. I just shot Bantha5 an e-mail finding out when is his next batch of wax will be ready. I don't think I could wait any longer. I know I am ready to take on the next step and try sculpting in wax. In the mean time, have you seen this web site from Art Asylem:

http://www.designinteract.com/features_d/asylum/101_asylum.html

It features thier sculpting process. As I told Bantha5, if for some reason I do not take to completely sculpt in wax, I could use this method. I know its an extra stage in the process making, but as long as I can achieve the desire results, I will use the method that best works for me. Right now, I am at  the mercy of Bantha5 until I have my own wax to play with. Thanks for your support and providing me with great feedback.

Well, thats it for now. Until the next posting,

Hey everyone,

I have to tell you, I am having a ball with this months topic! I was so happy the way my Minbari head turned out, I went back and started to redo my Centauri head. Here is the work in progress.

Since I do not have but a few loose figures with ball joint necks, I sculpted the head on the only male body I had. So, just for fun, here is the Centauri Smuggler.

And yes, the next head I will sculpt is a G'Kar and I had a request from someone over at RS to do a warrior class of the Minbari. I think I just started something. Let me know what you think.

Commander_Miseria: I have to be honest with you and say that I did not read that book this figure is based from. It is very interesting and a great choice of parts. Very obscure looking alien. Good job.

BrentS: Very nice sculpt. I like this head. Very original. I love the big snaggle tooth sticking out, great job. If I had to critic anything on this, it would be the eyes. I know how hard it is to sculpt eyes. I had to make a special tool just to get the desired shape. My best resource for this is the anatomy for the artist book. It is a great asset. Overall a fabulous figure!!!

Smartypants: I already comment this figure in a massive coverage on your thread, but I will echo my comment here on the figure in this thread. MCC Sith Lord Grisgo - interesting design. I am not a big fan of soft goods, but in this case, it works ok here. Now if I could turn you to the sculpting side…this figure could standout with sculpted detail. Just my two cents. I do want to add that I do like the color scheme of this figure. Choosing a color scheme is not the easiest choice to make for me. I guess that’s why I will never be a costume designer ;D. Your choice for this figure works well. Great job!

Chewie: OH MY GOD!!!!!! I am humble before your greatness ;D. This is AWESOME!!! I would have never in a million years would have thought there was any use for EPHANT MON other than maybe the Hermi Odle. I take it you used the Stargate beast of burden as the head? As usually, the paint scheme is phenomenal. I love the back-story of this guy. I would never would of thought to make it blind. Pure genius!!! I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy...ect ;D.

Overall this has turned out to be a very fun project. I can't wait to see more!

Until next posting,

Jedi_Master_Ben
