Looks like a second ANH wave in 2009 has been confirrmed in a few of (http://www.collectionstation.com/groups/view/Star-Wars/Official-Hasbro-Q-A-1252008_35) the Q&As this week (http://hanshideout.blogspot.com/2008/12/hasbro-star-wars-q-session-4.html).

As a certified Cantina Aliens nut, I'd love to see more of them announced... but as a realist, I can see that probably won't happen since we're getting so many in Wave 5 already. Instead, I'll hope to see some of the other missing figures we're all hoping to see announced - Praji, updated Owen/Beru, updated RFT, etc.
-
I could see them doing 1 cantina alien this wave but no more than that.
-
Really? I'd be surprised if there were fewer than 2 actually. That scene is the source of more unmade characters than any other in the film I think (other than perhaps X-Wing pilot variations).
-
I'd love to see more Cantina Dudes, but with Wioslea, Dice, Trinto, and Brainiac all on the way, getting more in a single calendar year seems like one of those "too good to be true" type things.
-
I'd like new versions of a Cantina Band Member, Ceremonial Leia, Tarkin, Porkins, Walrus Man, Dr. Evazon and a Tusken Raider (redeco)

Wait...what's wrong with the existing RFT?
-
Here's my perfect ANH wave...
Jawa & 2X-7KPR Droid
Walrusman (resculpt)
Leesub Sirln
Rebel Fleet Trooper (resculpt)
Tonnika Sisters
Bom Vimdin
Commander Daine Jir
Princess Leia - Yavin Ceremony (resculpt)
-
As long as we get a new x-wing pilot, I'll be happy.
-
So perhaps we get Commander Praji and the new Rebel Fleet Trooper with this wave. Here's my own projection for this wave's lineup:
BD xx Jawa & 2X-7KPR Droid
BD xx Chewbacca - Detention block breakout - with binders & Imperial blaster rifle
BD xx Owen Lars - resculpt
BD xx Princess Leia - Medal ceremony
BD xx Commander Praji
BD xx Commander Willard - Rebel commander
BD xx Bom Vimdim - cantina alien
BD xx Danz Borin - cantina
- Build-A-Droid: Death Star R3 droid w/ blue markings
- Build-A-Droid: Wedge's R2 unit
-
I could see them doing 1 cantina alien this wave but no more than that.
Bom Vimdin please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Wait...what's wrong with the existing RFT?
The main thing wrong with it is that it is way too awesome.
-
Wait...what's wrong with the existing RFT?
To quote Jesse James, "he sucks a big bag of dicks."
-

To quote Jesse James, "he sucks a big bag of dicks."
All of you keep your panties on. There's a new Rebel Fleet Trooper that you can all complain about coming out in 2010.
;P
-
I'd like to see a new Uncle Owen, Aunt Beru, Bom Vimdim, Walrusman, Dr. Evazan, Romodi, and Lepira (could repack him since he was an exclusive).
-
I'd like to see:
-Dr. Evazan resculpt
-Bom Vimdin
-Garrouf Lafoe
-Ultimate Rebel Fleet Trooper
-Tarkin Resculpt
-Carded Rebel Technician
-Wedge Resculpt
-Some Jabba Thugs from Docking Bay 94 SE sequence... Especially pointy hat guy, and big bearded guy.
-
Human Jabba would make this wave perfect for me.
-
Here is my hoped for 7 remaining figures
Bom Vimdin
Walrusman
Hrchek Kal Fas
Banniss Keeg
Pops
Owen Lars
Lars Family Gonk
-
I could see them doing 1 cantina alien this wave but no more than that.
Bom Vimdin please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I echo this sentiment!!!
-
Going off of our wishlists here, you can fill out the wave pretty well. I've been struggling with what main-ish character to include (since you know there is usually at least one). We've arguably already gotten pretty nice versions of Han (regular/Stormtrooper), Luke (regular/Stormtrooper), Leia, Obi-Wan, Vader, etc. Anyways, I wouldn't mind seeing a lineup like this (just throwing in a choice of main character or two to balance things out):
-Jawa w/2X-7KPR confirmed
-Bom Vimdin
-Doctor Evazan (Resuclpt)
-Owen Lars (Resuclpt)
-Hrchek Kal Fas
-Ponda Baba (Resculpt)
-SA Wedge Antilles
-Han Solo (Yavin Ceremony) OR Princess Leia (Yavin Ceremony) OR Chewbacca (Detention Block w/Binders)
Actually, I think that Yavin Luke could still be improved on from the TAC version, but we're not likely to get a new version of that anytime soon (or ever). Also wouldn't mind seeing a new Beru Lars. With the VOTC line and the upcoming ANH wave, the "big guns" are starting to get covered pretty well from ANH. Although I don't mind the VOTC one, I still think we could stand an "ultimate" Tatooine Luke Skywalker as well.
-
Here are my pics:
Grand Moff Tarkin (Resculpt)
C-3PO Jawa Captive Resraining Bolt/Dirty
Princess Leia (Yavin Ceremony)
Bom Vimdin
Doctor Evazan (Resuclpt)
Ponda Baba (Resculpt)
Owen Lars (Resuclpt)
Jawa w/2X-7KPR confirmed
-
1. Jawa w/2x-7KPR
2. Hrchek Kal Fas
3. Bannis Keeg
4. Han (Cermony)
5. Rebel Officer
6. Imp Scanning Tech
7. Danz Borin
8. Commander Willard
-
Han ceremony
Rebel officer
McQaurrie Rebel Pilot
Imperial scanning technician
Jawa w/ 2x-7kpr
herchech kal fass
Bannis Keeg
Dr Evazan
-
My picks...
• SA Walrusman resculpt
• SA Tarkin resculpt
• Bom Vimdin
• SA Dr. Evazan resculpt
• Owen Lars resculpt
• Beru Lars resculpt
• SA Wedge Antilles
• Ranat
-
I think they may save Walrusman for the rumored return to vintage. Also as this line would feature characters that never got made back in the day Evazan may also be in this wave.
I really want a Vimdin but hasbro said (And i can't for the life of me find the q&a were they did!) that they hoped he would make the line for 2010 , they also mentioned Yerka mig -anyone else remember?
-
a wishlist
1.Han yavin ceremony
2.Luke pilot without gloves
3.tac 16 Vader with Shaw head
4. Commander praji
5. commander willard
6. imperial scanning technician (resculpt)
-
Since it's being discussed in the Saga Legends thread, I thought I'd bump this one up with an update...

I was in the "Han is probably Yavin IV Ceremony Han" camp until Hasbro said Ceremony Han isn't coming any time soon. Now I'm not sure what they have planned there... Maybe "Pilot Han" with "reward crates" from the Yavin Hangar scene to go with the Yavin BP that is coming out?
As for the "couple more significant Cantina aliens" they mention? If we aren't getting Bom Vimdin until 2010, then I'm hoping for Hrchek Kal Fas (Saurin) (http://www.jedidefender.com/jsmentek/cantina_aliens/saurin.jpg) and Arliel Schous (Defel) (http://www.jedidefender.com/jsmentek/cantina_aliens/defel.jpg). :)
-
If I may throw my hat in the ring with a guess that it's a new Death Star Escape Han Solo... We haven't gotten one since POTJ, and he's pre-posed/underarticulated (though a nice pose). I think this is what we're getting...
I just hope it's VOTC Han with just a new belt, more or less.
-
I think there might be a couple of possibilities with Han Solo. They could be reissuing the VOTC Han Solo in this wave. They're basically doing that with the Vintage Biker Scout in the ROTJ wave. Or maybe they're going to do a Death Star escape Han Solo with the Stormtrooper utility belt and blaster.
-
Are are the heavy hitters left to do in the Cantina IMO
Bom Vimdin
Tonnika Sisters
Hrchek Kal Fas
Banniss Keeg
Reegesk
Mosep
Melas
Solomahal
Tzivvzt
Arleil Schous
Resculpts
Dr Evazan
Ponda Baba
I personally want to see a Kal Fas and Ponda. I think the Kal Fasseses would be a piece of cake with the already sculpted Bossk head and slap it on a shared body (since most of those dudes wore similar jackets)
-

That's a really good idea Jesse, I hadn't really considered that one. It would be a simple enough figure to make, and I think your idea of a VOTC Han with a new belt is a great one. I think a figure like this was rumored at one point to be coming in a Target UBP. I thought at one point RS had a rumor of a Death Star Escape pack (along with the Endor pack that was supposed to come with Jedi Spirits and Pyre Vader) that included an "escape" Han, Luke, and Leia. Of course, there are a lot of rumors that RS posts, so who knows.
-
I think some of their rumor lists in the last couple years are pure bunk and wishful thinking by someone... Just my opinion. You can always tell when Curto got something himself, and when he got it from "a source" that seems to have turned up semi-recently.
Personally, if I were to pick 2 Cantina dudes I want (other than Bom Vimdin who's my #1 right now), I'd go with Dr. Evazan, and Garrouf Lafoe... I love aliens as much as the next guy, but I'd like to start seeing some human characters getting done.
I'd love both Saurin then, Yerka Migg or some Tonnika Sisters.
Right now though, besides Vimdin, I'd say Ponda, Dr. E., and Garrouf Lafoe are my top 3... Dr. E. and Lafoe are my top 2 though.
And behind them I'd like to see some of the goons that SE Jabba takes along to the Falcon. The pointy hat guy, the big bearded guy, and the mustache guy w/hat & goggles would be the 3 I'd most like to see... Those guys have gotten no love, but they look like badasses.
-
I really want to see Leesub Sirln made.
-
I'm all for Dr. Evazen. The one that was made long ago is so so poor. I could think he and Ponda would be good ones with the new Obi-Wan we got.
-
My cantina denizen choices are based almost entirely on how prominent they were on screen. In fact, I greatly prefer the characters that were standing at the bar as opposed to the booths (to fill up my cantina diorama). Further, I want more humans than aliens, so I'd also vote for Yerka, Dr Evazan, Danz Borin, Garouf, then the Saurins, Ponda, and Mosep.
-
I'm all for Dr. Evazen.
Yep. Looong over due.
-
The latest rumor list (http://www.rebelscum.com/story/front/Star_Wars_Rumors_Basic_Figures_122435.asp) at RS says that Dr. Evazan and Ponda Baba may be included in this wave. Although "all new" cantina aliens are always nice, I have to say that I'd be happy to see resculpts of both of these figures - especially with all the Cantina goodness we've gotten lately (and already this year).
-
Updated versions of Dr. Evazan and Ponda Baba would definitely be welcome.
-
Just get us a Bom Vimdin.
-
Here's what I hope/think this wave MIGHT consist of...
___ BD# TBD - Jawa w/ 2X-7KPR
___ BD# TBD - Chewbacca - Millenium Falcon co-pilot w/headset
___ BD# TBD - Commander Praji
___ BD# TBD - Imperial Scanning Technician
___ BD# TBD - Lt. Pello Scrambas - Rebel Fleet Trooper
___ BD# TBD - Han Solo - Death Star escape (w/ Stormtrooper belt & blaster)
___ BD# TBD - Dr. Evazan
___ BD# TBD - Ponda Baba
-
They won't do the RFT....just to piss off Jesse James!
Or worse...they'll make a new RFT, but he'll suck.
-
Hoth Rebel has given me hope.
-
Those two would be welcome and are long over due for upgrades.
-
Hasbro has said themselve in the q and a that all go as plan we should see Bom Vimdin late in 2010. Hope this helps
-
Probably the two most needed resculpts of alien characters. I'm pleased if we get them.
-
Death Star Escape Han Solo = confirmed (http://hanshideout.blogspot.com/2009/05/hasbro-star-wars-q-session-11.html).
I'm not expecting much more than the new Stormtrooper holster/belt slapped on the VOTC Han Solo, but maybe they'll surprise us with some spiffy feature/accessory that we're not expecting?

And, the Q&A at Mousedroid.com (http://www.mousedroid.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=66626) makes it sounds like Ponda and Evazan are NOT coming...
HASBRO RESPONSE:
We would love to tell you which ones are coming in the Fall, but need to keep them under wraps until Comic Con. We're glad you like the Cantina aliens as much as we do. Aliens are so important to Star Wars that we feel we need to include a good sampling of them in the lineup every year, and both the Cantina and Jabba's Palace are great places to look for them.
We would like to get to some key updates - Wuher, Dr. Evazon and Ponda Boba would be three priorities - but do not have any of them slotted into the lineup yet as new ones have gotten the priority. Within a couple years it's a near lock that we'll have one or more of them slotted into the lineup.
-
I figured the DSE Han was coming... I'm glad too. I liked the posed nature of the original as it captured the Han running away thing, but I'll appreciate a superarticulated one much, much more. Sometime a new ultimate Luke would be nice, and a new belt for him too.
-

I think you're probably right Jeff (new belt/VOTC Han), and that's fine with me. Anything to get that VOTC Han Solo figure out there again. I keep saying it, but I'd really like to see that figure (along with others like VOTC Luke, Leia, and EB Chewie) get packed in either the Legends or Greatest Hits parts of the line. I wasn't sure what else they could make for a Han from ANH (besides a Ceremonial one), but this is a nice version to get out there too. Now if we could just get that ultimate Bespin Han (and maybe a redone Carbonite one eventually), I'd be a happy camper :).
-
RE Cantina aliens-
Hmm
when you think how popular Cad Bane is it will most probably be Bannis Keeg this year and...a Saurin!!! ;D
-
when you think how popular Cad Bane is it will most probably be Bannis Keeg this year
Excellent point! I didn't think of that.
I was really hoping for Walrusman and/or Dr. Evazan resculpts in this upcoming wave, so it's a bummer to hear they aren't coming for a couple years. I'd also like to see Leesub Sirln:
If they can't give us the Tonnikas, they can AT LEAST give us this cantina babe. ;)
-
Hasbro may be bsing trying to keep the surprise secret(even though the lineup has been circulated) and a new Ponda may be coming sooner than that. I heard some strong professional rumblings he is indeed in the line up. He may have gotten pushed back, but I guess we will have to wait for SDCC to find out. Outside of Bom Vidam who is really left in the Cantina that would really be worth doing besides the good Dr. or Ponda, two very deserving resculpts. It's been 12 years, they are well overdue for characters that actually had screen time.
Watch them give us the bottom of the barrel scrapings like the testicle lipped Mosep & that Fly thing. I would not mind seeing that other Duro and/or a resculpt of Lak sivrak. Lak would be great so Dice Ibegon has someone to get it on with. Out of all the EU SW lore those two being lovers still cracks me up. Dogs will truly bang anything that moves.
-
Here are my picks for the line up now that it looks as if our two trouble makers are not coming:
___ BD# TBD - Han Solo - Death Star escape (w/ Stormtrooper belt & blaster)
___ BD# TBD - Luke skywalker - Death Star escape (w/ Stormtrooper belt & blaster)
___ BD# TBD - Jawa w/ 2X-7KPR
___ BD# TBD - Princess Leia Yavin Ceremony
___ BD# TBD - Bannis Kreeg
___ BD# TBD - Lak Sivrak
___ BD# TBD - Imperial Scanning Technician
___ BD# TBD - Darth Vader Imperial Choker (with two hands: neck bench to hoist up Antilles and the itty bitty Mottie Strangle pincer hand)
Wildcards
___ BD# TBD - Dr. Evazan
___ BD# TBD - Ponda Baba
-
Outside of Bom Vidam who is really left in the Cantina that would really be worth doing
I'd love to see Baniss Keeg (http://www.jedidefender.com/jsmentek/cantina_aliens/duros.jpg), Hrchek Kal Fas (Saurin) (http://www.jedidefender.com/jsmentek/cantina_aliens/saurin.jpg) and/or Arliel Schous (Defel) (http://www.jedidefender.com/jsmentek/cantina_aliens/defel.jpg). :)

Wow. I'm genuinely surprised that I nailed the Han Solo.
I think I'd swap out the previous cantina aliens with these:
___ BD# TBD - Hrchek Fas Kal
___ BD# TBD - Danz Borin
-
Hasbro could really save some money by releasing CZ-3. They have the mold ready, though not a new figure, a new character.
-
Seriously. I'm surprised we haven't a CZ-3 already.
-
Why do we need a CZ-3? I bought a bunch of 4's, the differences are pretty negligible to take up a figure slot
-
You know how the detail oriented freaks are, CZ-3 doesn't have as much crap and dirt on him as CZ-4. In fact, I bought an extra CZ-4 and cleaned him up a bit myself.
You're right though, he shouldn't take up a figure slot unless it's a BP or re-paint wave.
-
I was just listening to the "Collector Cast" from the Force Cast, and Derryl DePriest mentioned the Han Solo from this wave, saying that it was based off of the vintage (VOTC) mold, with a stormtrooper belt and removable chest plate.
-
Could be a worse figure in the wave.
-
From the latest batch of Q&A at Han's Hideout (http://hanshideout.blogspot.com/2009/07/hasbro-star-wars-q-session-13.html):
1. In previous Q&As, you've revealed that there will be "a couple" of Cantina Dudes in the Fall ANH wave... but you've also indicated that you'd like to keep their exact identity secret until SDCC. How about this - we'll list off a pile of Cantina Dudes and you tell us generically if we've ID'ed one, two, or none of the figures? Sound Good? Ok, here we go: Mosep (aka Marvel Comic Jabba), Baniss Keeg, Reegesk, Hrchek Kal Fas (Saurin), Tzizvvt, Arliel Schous (Defel), Leesub Sirln, or Solomohal. How'd we do?
** OK, since your approach was fun and you have a very high quality of selects on your list, we'll play along. That list you have there matches pretty well our personal wish list. We'll go ahead and acknowledge that both of the aliens coming this Fall are on your list. Complete details and a preview will be available in a few weeks - stay tuned!
I'm still hoping for Hrchek Kal Fas and Arliel Schous, but I'd gladly take any of those eight. :)
-
Kal Fas is one I bet. Not sure on the second. Mosep or Baniss?
-
Oooh, what a tease! Can't wait to find out who they are! I'd gladly take any on that list. I imagine the Saurin is one, thats been rumoured forever now.....kinda hoping for Reegesk for the second.
-
I'm hoping the Saurin and Mosep as Mosep rocks all, and we're sure to get a "Jabba" redeco of him (I think he looks different in the comics?), and Saurins are just cool little buggers with underbites like Beavis.
-
Yeah, my guess is Mosep too. He could be repainted and put into a comic pack 12 months down the line.
-
I think they're gonna give us Baniss Keeg and a Saurin.
-
Yeah most probably.
Then next year i think Bom vimdin and mosep.
However as already mentioned i will gladly buy any/all of them.
-
Congrats on the creative question. Neat way to speculate about what we're getting.
-
Mosep is actually too ugly for me to allow in my home (the new ugnaught was close), but I'd love to see Arliel Schous and anyone else.
-
Mosep reminds me of some Dr. Suess character more than a Star Wars Alien.
-
I would have rather had Ponda & Evezian. Out of the choice I hope its Arleil Schous & Solomahal.
-
I think they're gonna give us Baniss Keeg and a Saurin.
....even though I would prefer Leesub Sirln and Solomahal first. But any cantina critter is fine with me. I just think it'll be: a Saurin because they're pretty prominent and they've been rumored forever; and Baniss Keeg because of Cad Bane's popularity.
-
Yeah with Bannis obviously there is the Cad connection.
There is also that slightly Saurinish Trandoshan character voiced by Ron pearlman isn't there.? It wouldn't suprise me if hasbro is trying to trigger a little conection in the kiddies minds between Legacy and clone wars.
-
So Cad Bane is a Duros? Here I had thought that he was a Neimoidian.
I've been hoping to get a Baniss Keeg ever since we got Ellors Madak. Those two always seemed like they needed to be paired up. And we got Ellors Madak back in what, 2001? And either of the Saurins would be great additions to the line.
-
Ellors will be needing an upgrade in articulation because if Baniss is indeed one of the choices he may look too out of place now.
-
If Ellors gets upgraded, I'd prefer to see that in a multi-pack. It seems like each slot in the basic figure waves is getting more and more valuable when it comes to collector oriented figures. So if Hasbro could come out with some kind of Cantina battle pack or multipack, maybe a new Ellors Madak could get slotted there instead of taking a basic figure slot from a never before made cantina denizen.
-
Bump for the confirmation of Leesub Sirln (http://www.superherohype.com/imageGallery/Comic-Con/Comic-Con_2009/large/hr_Comic-Con_2009_72.jpg)
-
EEEE! Cool! Not at all who I was expecting but a most welcome addition. The cantina is fairly devoid of the female species so this will fill in the scene quite nicely. Now I wonder who the other alien will be!
-
Bump for the confirmation of Leesub Sirln (http://www.superherohype.com/imageGallery/Comic-Con/Comic-Con_2009/large/hr_Comic-Con_2009_72.jpg)
Is that the alien looking chick? Is she from one of the movies ???
-

2nd pic has the Death Star Han Solo with 'trooper armor... interesting execution on that one, looks like maybe a new head sculpt too.
-
Wow. I'm all for that freaky bald siver alien chick! Love it. However, didn't Hasbro get THEIR OWN MEMO that non-agressive female figures don't sell?
=)
-
Han and the Alien Chick look cool but not too exciting. I'm hoping the rest of the wave is a bit better. Where does that R2-D2 fit in?
-
Where does that R2-D2 fit in?
Could be from AHN where he gets blasted by Jawas.
-
Still the VOTC mold, apparently. Weak.
-
Yup, still the VOTC Artoo. Who knew it could take 4+ years just to do a simple repaint? The Scanning Crew Trooper looks very cool. I'll gladly pick up a few. I'm a little disappointed that there is no Rebel Trooper present, but hopefully we will get a bit of news about that figure from the slideshow. Overall, a well rounded wave that I'll be happy to pick up.
-
Another really nice wave. I'm looking forward to seeing some closer up shots of that DSE Han Solo, to see what is going on there. From what we can see so far, it looks like a new headsculpt and some snap-on armor - but it will be interesting to see how it looks. Is that just a straight re-release of the VOTC Chewie? It looks like it has that "hairdo". Either way, I'm always for getting those "ultimate" OT figures out there again, like Chewie (and hopefully someday, the original VOTC Han Solo). Really spiffy wave here though, have to enjoy all the attention the Jawas have been getting from Hasbro over the past couple years. The Scanning Trooper was a bit of a surprise, but looks cool.
-
Is that just a straight re-release of the VOTC Chewie?
I can't really tell, but maybe they put handcuffs on him?
-
Seeing a potential R2-D2 and D2-X2 in this wave (if he really is in this wave) sort of sucks. It seems sort of cheap to get a solo R2unit for $8, especially if (like the R2-X2 appears to be) it's just a repack of one of the EE Droids.
-
I really think it is just a mix up with
Ki Adi Concept moved from ANH to ROTS
IG-88 to ESB from ROTS
R2-X2 from ESB to ANH
AT-AT Driver is probably a GH figure to go with AT-AT Luke and the AT-AT? The above 3 figures seem really out of place so something isn't quite right. We'll probably learn more tomorrow or Friday
-
Is that just a straight re-release of the VOTC Chewie?
I can't really tell, but maybe they put handcuffs on him?
Oooh... He's Falcon co-pilot Chewie. You can see his headset in this pic (http://www.flickr.com/photos/starwarsblog/3747021171/sizes/o/in/set-72157621782078894/). Me likey. Han looks good too! :)
-
Notice the Scanning Crew member uses most of the parts from the Scramble at Yavin Rebel Tech. That was smart, this is very welcome and I dig the Chewie! I am not digging the Han Headsculpt.
-
I didn't even notice the headset at first, thanks Jeff, that does look pretty cool - and a nice new take on Chewie to get him out there again.

Hrchek Kal Fas!
I love me some Cantina aliens. 8)

He's a cool looking figure, despite the bowling ball grip left hand. I did also notice that the new Jawa has soft goods. I like that.
-
A notice to basically anywhere I'll be that has this wave, but I plan on buying any Scanning tech I see... ever.
I am hopeful the hat is removable, as Hasbro's truly made that a feature I enjoy on all figures. However, I maybe would give them a pass on this one (yes, I said it) for simply making the kick ass, rockin', incredible, removable lid scanner box! And all that other crap.
This is the army builder to break the bank for me though, as far as the future waves go. I can't think of a figure on my horizon right now that I would want more of. That is AMAZING, and I can't wait till a good image of him surfaces with his gear and stuff. I am curious if everything's molded into the box or if it's removable. The hat issue, etc.
I just cannot wait to see more...
I like the rest of the wave as well. Chewie compliments Han from 30AC line quite well, the DSE Han is "odd", but different enough I'll buy just for the removable ST armor (I dig having it, as I dig having Clone Armor like that too), I like the Jawa and Droid...
Who are the BAD's here? Is one R2-D2, and why? I love the Cantina chick and Hr'Chek as well. Saurins are cool, and I'm sure his buddy is coming too some day. Concept Mundi is welcome too, for the uniqueness of the design.
I'm excited for this wave, probably most of all. ESB and ROTJ though, really are nice also.

Those two droids in the center of the photo are the BADs.
I'm going to be picking up every single scanner trooper I can find as well. I really hope they eventually reuse this body to update the black tunic techs as well. From that factor money and availability are going to be really the only limiting factors on how many of these guys I buy. That scanning kit should work really nicely as a cargo crate as well. Good stuff. :)
I'm having a hard time deciding if I like this wave or the Empire wave more. Come to think of it, I guess I'd have to throw the ROTJ wave in the mix too. This has been a really nice Comic-Con so far. I'm glad to see so much OT in the basic line-up.
-
So then what's R2-D2 there? I can't tell what makes him special, I guess, unless he's just using the nice newer sculpts (IE: Not the VOTC one).
-
I think he is just the one stinker in the wave. Maybe some Jawa attack version, on the VOTC mold with a dirty paintjob.
-

That's exactly the way I read that R2. It's from the scene where the Jawa's hit him with the Ion blaster and disable him. It's an attempt at a new take on a classic character. Kids like R2, and Hasbro needs to boost sales of the Legacy line.
The same thing could totally be said about headset Chewbacca that's being said about R2-D2.

Just wait until the day they release the uber-cool Fleet Trooper. ;)

That Scanning Crew guy is probably the coolest surprise so far. It looks gorgeous and I'll definitely be buying at least ten. :o ;D

Put me down for a dozen scanning techs.
-
Hrchek looks very muppety.....love the body not sure about the head sculpt. Not sure how I feel about it I like yet I don't. Welcome non the less.
-
Kal Fas looks cool, but I think the lack of a neck kind of throws me off on him. He really seems like a head sitting flat on the shoulders. Definitely pumped to get him though. Bit of a shame that theres no cool assesories coming with them though, especially the girl, she's so tiny, one of those tables would have increased her value a bit more.
-
I'm liking the scanning crew. at least 5 for me, no more than 10 though. Aliens sweet.
I'm not liking Han/Chewie/R2. I guess I've come to the point that I have enough of them and these just don't offer enough of something different to warrant buying them. (Except those darn BaD pieces...)
-
I like just about every figure from the wave. I don't really need a Chewie with a headset or Han with removeable stormy armor. Especially at $7.50 but I would not mind getting them either. I guess it's a must if you want the B-A-D? Anyway, the Scanning Crew Member is fantastic with all the accesories. That will be terrific with the BMF. I still want my Bom Vimdin though!
-
Hasbro Presentation: Imperial Scanning Crew will be a running change with 2 different crates.
-
Hasbro Presentation: Imperial Scanning Crew will be a running change with 2 different crates.
Thank God for that. I mean can you imagine if we weren't going to get a choice of crates? I don't even want to think about it.
-
That's actually outstanding considering they're pushing both around the hangar... I'm pretty excited, plus hopeful for a head variant or a deco variant to the head. I think it's fantastic though. It's definitely the best army builder of the Legacy Line that was shown. Plus long overdue for a resculpt.
When will we get a new AT-ST driver using most of the parts is my question now. :)
-
The Scanning trooper alone makes this the most expensive wave for me. I'm in for at least two squads, if not a whole company. Could be two companies if a way is found to make a At-St driver.
In general, a great choice of figures. The only one I'm not sure about it the Han, Snap-on type armor has never seemed to look good or work good.
-
How long before someone customizes a couple of "stripped" Stormtroopers? Han and Luke got that Stormtrooper armor somewhere....
Love the Imperial Scanning Tech. Its definitely the type of figure that my Wife won't understand why I'm buying, but I will anyway. (To borrow a phrase from Hasbro, he isn't "aggressive" enough). I really like the background and prop type of packins that hasbro has included (the scanning crates, moisture vaporator, cantina bar & stools). Makes the figures feel much more complete... (Kind of a stormtrooper without a blaster....)
-
Hasbro Presentation: Imperial Scanning Crew will be a running change with 2 different crates.
That's if Hasbro does not screw it up like the HRT. (Yes, I preached optimism to Jesse about this figure but I turned to the darkside once I found out he was barley going to ship and I am really pissed/bitter on that one!)
-

I think I know what you mean, but I have to admit that's an odd statement, no? A wife "shouldn't" understand an adult man buying any kind of figure for himself! That doesn't stop ME, though ;)
-
His gear boxes are some of the most exciting stuff from SDCC... well, to me anyway. :-\
-
Me too Jesse... there's so many uses for those crates. Han needs something to smuggle his drugs in. :P
-

Didn't the Bearded one change that mythos as well? He did not like Han shooting first surley he would not the drug smuggling.
-
Kal fas ,Leesub, technician and Jawa for me-maybe chewie if i like the retail version.
Kal fas is pretty inacurate but i like it despite the trandos- mografication, as long as the eyes end up BLACK!
-
Han smuggled drugs...in fact, when Luke is doing his lightsabre training on the Falcon, there are giant bags of coke stuffed up in the rafters behind him.
-
Where's the gear?
-
Oh, he actually is a Scanning/Filing/Faxing Tech, (kind of a space secretary), not a member of the Stow-away Scanning Crew... ;D
Either that or Hasbro is allowing swappers to break into the packaging before it ships from the factory. Still, a funny picture.
The likeness of the headsculpt is pretty close to Booger from Revenge of the Nerds.
-
You guys nailed my thoughts: Where's the gear & what's up with the bad photoshop job on the picture?
Figure looks great!
-
Wouldn't it have been better to include the Concept Ki-Adi Mundi in the ROTS wave, and move the Concept IG-88 over to the ANH wave? That way, the ANH wave could have stayed OT-themed, with the ROTS wave PT-themed.
Even though, it's still an interesting wave of figures.
-

They used the stock photo of Piett (http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/starwars/images/8/8b/Piett_btm.jpg) for for the kepi, eyes and ears and gave him a new mouth. It looks like one of the those bad police "have you seen this man" renderings.
-
Yes. What have they done with our scanning equipment!?
Also why are Kal Fas's eyes looking more suited to "Bossk with stoner eyes?" They should be black - as shown on the card!
-
That's going to be pretty disappointing if they took the equipment out. I was already getting visions of a pile of those next to a dozen or so troopers. Without the gear that number's going to plummet.
-
Also why are Kal Fas's eyes looking more suited to "Bossk with stoner eyes?" They should be black - as shown on the card!
I noticed this as well. I really hope they fix this since it just doesn't look right. :-\
-
If we're getting dicked over on that gera, that sucks bad. That smacks of a, "We couldn't include it, sorry, but you can buy it in an exciting battlepack of figures you don't want at all with the boxes!" type deal. Or am I being a cynical?
Nice looking figure though, without a doubt. Long overdue army builder for the Empire. Hopefully translated later to a new AT-ST Driver with some spiffy new arms.
I'd also take a redeco of him with a grey kepi as a "Bridge Crewman" as well.
-
All the figures look really nice, pretty excited about this wave, but I agree with the sentiments that Saurins eyes should be black, instead of looking like he just took a hit off something.
On another note, looking at these carded makes me sad, there's so much extra room in those bubbles.....looks like the days of great pack ins and value for our dollars coming to an end. I mean, would it have killed them to include the scanning boxes, or maybe a cantina table with the bar patrons or something to make those bubbles seem a bit less empty?
-
Maybe there is hope on the Scanning Crew as RS has pulled down their post from yesterday.
-
Yeah, where's the gear? Makes me really nervous.
-
Maybe the gear is behind the card insert... otherwise, it would be disappointing. Overall, the wave is good. But why did they pack the oversized Ewok Stormie helmet with Han? Looks silly. And that Han is a great upgrade to the VOTC version.
-

A) I don't think they would hid an accessory like that behind the insert, especially if it is/was a running change
B) I don't think it would even fit since the insert is already hiding the BAD piece on the right side of the bubble
-
I know this figure is boring to many of you guys, but WOW, I am all in. I will be disappointed if it doesn't have the case, I will still buy them though. I just need to get a bunch of generic heads ready.
-
Maybe the running change head comes with the gear, because I wouldn't think you need 2 of the crates unless you are a army builder collector.
-
Judging by the latest Hasbro q and a it looks like the scanning gear is still comming.
On a ANH related matter Galactic hunter have "confirmed" we are getting Dr Evazon and Ponda next year- no offence to them -but didn't hasbro say within "next couple of years " and "not in the line up yet"?
My hunch is these two will turn up in an early 2011 wave along with Bom.
-
Hasbro also confirmed some of the details on the "gear" in the packs in our Q&A this week. Sounds pretty slick, and I'm excited for that figure the most from the wave. I think Paul is as well. It's really looking like a "perfect" (or as close as it ever gets) army builder for the Empire.
I'll be stocking up on those bigtime.
-
Good thing we're on different coasts. ;)
-
Both of you stay out of NY. I've already called dibs. I think its kind of amusing that what should be the boring character in this wave, since he's generic, is the most exciting.
-
All of these guys in the Denver area are going to be funneling towards me... I'll be buying every one that I see.
-
I'll let Paul demolish Texas as long as I'm able to get the 3-4 of each variant that I want. :P
-
Texas will have extras... Hasbro doesn't know I left yet.
-
I'm only looking for about 5-6 of these.
Once was a time I'd have bought 20 of them. I'm glad I've been cured of HUGE army building. (Well except the Gungan soldier coming soon...I"ll get 40 of those if I can find them.)
-
3 or 4 of each of the Scanning troops should tide me over.
-
18 minimum for me. Could be up to 37.
-
I am in for 5-6 of each, maybe more to make some customs. I hope these are in good supply, I love these simple head swaps to army build and hope this trend continues with future figures.
-
Yeah, I am thinking 4 of them will do. I really hope the crates are coming with them though.
-
Yeah, I am thinking 4 of them will do. I really hope the crates are coming with them though.
If the crates aren't coming with them, then I'll prolly just get one of each headsculpt. For me it's really more about the periphery stuff than the figure in this situation.
-
Texas will have extras... Hasbro doesn't know I left yet.
Well that's the real trick isn't it? Remember I never found stuff on my side of town and I never go to Dallas.
-
We got a couple unpainted prototype images (test shots) of some of the ANH figures including the previously seen Concept Ki-Adi. I thought I'd post them to share, since they highlight some of the sculpt and articulation details nicely without the paint obscuring anything. I really love Hrchek from this wave in particular.

I like Hrchek to but what is up with his left hand? Is he going bowling after he slams some brew back at the cantina? Anyway thanks for the prototype pics those are always fun!
-
The first shot Han solo head sculpt looks much better than the SDCC paint master. I am happy to see them finally use the VOTC body again despite the fact that it appears they are painting/molding his outfit colors a bit too bright.
As I said in many other threads I will be really surprised if we see all of these waves this year. TPM wave is no where to be found not even online. It was supposed to hit earlier this month. Store pegs everywhere are really empty with only the new Clone Wars waves hitting. You would be hard pressed to find even the peg warmers now. I am not sure we will see these waves hit all at once, I would not mind if we do but I hope it is soon I needs me some new figures!
-
I dunno. We've gotten hit with wave on top of wave before. Last time was the TAC gold coin waves.
-
I dunno. We've gotten hit with wave on top of wave before. Last time was the TAC gold coin waves.
True, but that's when figure sales were more brisk. That's the only reason why I am concerned as figures are not flying as fast at $7.50+ a pop. I have every wave TPM up on preorder, some cases doubled. I would love for a huge pile this stuff to come in in 2 weeks.
-
I wouldn't be surprised at all if the TPM, ROTJ, and ANH waves all hit at once sometime next month. It happened with the Clone Wars stuff back in July (Windu wave, Loathsom wave, and Cad Bane wave all appeared simultaneously).
-
I pray to God that the same thing that happened with those three CW waves doesn't happen here. That is too much money at once. DON'T DO IT HASBRO!!!!!
-
I hope they straighten their act out in 2010 because the distribution timing has been absolutely atrocious with waves so sparse & late. These dry spells are a killer, I think the Joe Movie **** took a lot of Hasbor's energy/resources away from the line. If you think about the amount of product and planning it takes I would not be surprised at all if it really contributed to some of the delays. I know slow sales and peg warmers were a bigger factor but I really think they put out so much product across their brands something had to suffer.
-
Those test shots look pretty spiffy, definitely looking forward to this wave. I'll echo the sentiments so far on the distribution issues. We're either going to get hammered with like three waves in a month, or these aren't all making it out this year. We've discussed it before on these forums, but I really wish Hasbro would spread these out throughout the year a little better. Heck, one new wave (at least from the Legacy line) every month and a half to two months is fine with me. The "Build a Droid" pegs are darn near empty around here as well, and to be honest there hasn't been new Legends on the pegs for a looong time either (just a couple of pegwarmers here and there). I've seen the new CW waves shipping somewhat regularly, even showing up at retail 4-5 times in the past couple months. I went ahead an preordered the rest of the year's Legacy waves online as a "just in case", because it could be stressful trying to find these on the pegs before they are shoved off for the next wave.
-
I have always order online for the convenience factor plus online 9 out of 10 times they get it first. I have been so desperate to get something new I have been hitting a lot of stores which I stopped doing because of ordering online and I now remember why. Wasted time, wasted gas and the sheer feeling of disappointment when you find nothing. I am marking today my last hunt day until there are robust reports of stuff being found.
-
I pray to God that the same thing that happened with those three CW waves doesn't happen here. That is too much money at once. DON'T DO IT HASBRO!!!!!
I agree... I'd rather that didn't happen, at all. Spread it out into 2010, but not all at once. :-\
-
The gear is still coming (http://www.yakfaceforums.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=4803)....
Q1: A quick follow up question regarding the Imperial Scanning Crew figure. Solicitation imagery has shown up online showing the packaging and loose shots for this figure and the collecting natives are restless to say the least as neither show the scanning equipment being included! Please tell us that this isn't another issue regarding cost and those accessories haven't been dropped.
A1: There was an error in the first packaging that was quickly corrected. The equipment *will* be shipping with the Scanning Crew figure - one half of the equipment with the first release, and the second half with the second release in a later wave.
-
So the equipment is in parts to complete one? I thought it was 2 different styles. Whatever it is at least something is included.
-
good news about the gear .... but nothing about Kal fas?
I,ve gone from what a great sculpt - to GAHH those EYES!!!!!!!!!
( HAVE BEEN DRUNKEN) :'( ;D

Recently some carded photos of Legacy Collection figures hit the Internet. Will the Imperial Scanning Tech be packaged with the ever-popular box, and will Hrchek Kal Fas be less crazy-eyed than the prototype? (BS, 2009-09-10)
There was an error in the first packaging that was quickly corrected. The equipment *will* be shipping with the scanning crew - one half of the equipment with the first release, and the second half with the second release in a later wave. The Kal Fas you saw was an early sample, and should be corrected for final production.
-
Thanks Rob. Good to know.
-
So the equipment is in parts to complete one? I thought it was 2 different styles.
I'm pretty sure it's still 2 different styles. I think they just worded their answer poorly.
-

If that is the production Kal Fas .... Gah!
EDIT- Sorry forgot to say thanks for the images.

No problem, and I would say that IS a production figure, or at the very least an early one.

Hmm. Time to break out the sharpie. ::)

One more image available... The Imperial Scanner Tech (first one anyway) is up.

Lotta money going to him and his variant... A whole lotta money.
-
All pretty sweet.
-
No, not all sweet! Hrchek's eyes! Argh! Inexcusable!
I can't believe he still has the Bossk eyes. I thought they said they were going to fix that. I know it's something that is easily fixed with a dab of black paint or a sharpie, but man that is just lazy. >:(
-
Ok. Not all sweet. ;)
I guess it's hard for me to get too stirred up about him - he's never been high on my list. Which is another topic (what is high on my list anymore? What is my list?)
-
Man Tunghori gets his figures early. Wonder if he works in a Hasbro factory...
-
I can't say I'm up in arms over the Saurrin's eyes, but I'm also a person who feels you SHOULDN'T have to customize ****, and basically the eyes are the only major flaw with this figure (though I think they could've given him shoes... Saurins aren't Trandoshans, so it's almost like they're trying to mix the two, weird).
I will fix mine I'm sure, but yeah, it's a pretty simple thing that shouldn't have left the factory like that, and it's a major detractor.
I'm sorta hopeful that only a handful got out like that, and that we'll see the majority are fixed with the proper eyes, but at this point I'm not hopeful despite Hasbro's answer to this query. It seems almost like maybe they were thinking it was something else, or simply chose not to answer the question right. Again, benefit of the doubt and all that, I hope that a few will have the wrong eyes and the majority the right ones. Kinda like the deco on the U-3PO BAD figure being changed to champagne. Running changes from Asia seem to be hit and miss if they get done though.
-
I just ordered an embarrassing amount of Scanner Techs, Col Dyers and several others.
I can't be sure, but Tungori may be getting early samples, because all the Maroon Geonosis Battle Droids I ordered came with painted eyes, where I'm lead to understand the packaged versions (which haven't, and may not show up at retail here) do not?
Whatever the case, it's a great way to army build without having to resort to retail, while the price for me is relatively the same :)
-
For the curious, here's a helmetless image of Han I just added real quick...
Wow that headsculpt sucks! :)
It's just another Han and all, so no biggie I guess, but it really reminds me of big head Han from the vintage line. Freaky.
-
One more new picture:
It's pretty cool that all of the droids from the Sandcrwaler scene have been made!
-
...basically the eyes are the only major flaw with this figure (though I think they could've given him shoes).... Saurins aren't Trandoshans, so it's almost like they're trying to mix the two, weird).
According to wookieepedia (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Trandoshan#Saurin_Subspecies), Saurins are a sub-species of Trandos.
No shoes for you!
-
EU's ignorable, and so I chose to do so on that one... That's what I meant about them trying to mix them.
I lump that type of crap in with everyone knowing the main characters somehow, Wilrow Hood being a Rebel because he just can't be some guy running away, and all that other BS.
I'm lumping the Saurin/Trandoshan link right in with Neimoidians and Duros... Two different species, just similar.
And I even like EU! :) I just hate the need writers have, to tie everything together. It's kind of like Wampa logos on ARC fighters when Wampas seemed to be a bit of an enigma to the Alliance... I guess the zoological records from the Clone Wars era were lost maybe. ::)
Sorry for the EU rant... It's the most annoying thing about it, to me.
Well, that and all the blatantly stolen **** from the NJO era stuff bugs me too.
-
The Kal Fas solution is low maintenance so i'm not too bothered. But i wonder if Hasbro got permission or were instructed by lucasfilm to go with the Bossk look- to make a visual connection between legacy and later Clone Wars product.? Doesn't Kal Fas hit the shops around the time of the hour long CW season two debut?

She's not super impressive, I like the saurin way better. I don't know what she needs, maybe a wash or more toning on all the pink limbs or something.
-
She's not the best, but weird Cantina is always cool. The paint does make this particular copy look a little cheap.
-
She probably looks better in hand. I'm glad they made her.
-
She probably looks better in hand. I'm glad they made her.
While she is far from my first choice (In fact I think she is really stupid) I am happy to see all the cantina patrons get made. I hope they make some of the scraggly humans too. But I want a new Ponda and Dr first. The POTF2 ones are so dated.
-
I think she looks cheap due to the source material... It, as a costume, looks like a cheap Star Trek alien from the original series, haha.
The pink seems fine to me... She's not all leathery and stuff, so I think washes may dillute the fleshy look... It's like washes on human skin. It doesn't often look right except in the world of war, to dirty figures up so they don't look fresh out of bootcamp. :)
-
We got an early proto image of Lesub if anyone's curious about the sculpt details on her...

I think she'll make good custom fodder.
She reminds me more of Mork with that costume.

Eyes being corrected on Hr'chek Kal Fas:
RS (http://www.rebelscum.com/story/front/Hasbros_77th_STAR_WARS_QA_The_Answers_126309.asp)
With regards to the eyes, there are two Saurins in the Cantina. One of them has clear dome lenses and the other, in some reference shots, does not and appears to have pupils. As you can see in the painted image of the figure on the back of the package, we never intended him to have gold eyes with black pupils. This was just a production variant from our China vendor, and we have actually already made a production correction to the eyes to give him black eyes.
-
And there was much rejoicing. Yay! :)
-
Glad to hear about the eye corrections on this dude...

Just got notice from BBTS that my set of this wave is in stock and ready to ship. The onslaught continues ;). Happy to hear they are getting out there soon though, although probably not at retail anytime soon the way things have been going.
-
It looks like this wave is currently in stock over at HTS (shipping in 8-10 days), if anyone is interested. I saw the entire wave, minus the Jawa - which is still listed as "coming soon". I have an order from BBTS on the way today, but I ordered a few extras (like the Scanning Crew) from HTS since the retail situation with Legacy has been pretty poor around here.
-
BBTS has sent me my ship notification that my full case of this wave and x3 Scanner Troopers are shipping. They currently have full cases and some singles in stock if anyone is interested.
-
Hoping this wave hits soon ... but have that Force-tingle sense that it'll be a peg-warming wave, with the exception of battle-worn Ki-Adi Mundi and maaaybe the Stormtrooper disguise Han Solo.
-
Seriously? The Scanner Tech a pegwarmer? I'm guessing he'll be the better selling figure of the wave, ultimately... Hasbro seems to agree since he has the variant repacked and all. That's one people have been waiting on. He's the Hoth Rebel Trooper of his wave.
-
I don't think the Scanning Trooper has the coolness factor of something like the Spacetrooper. When it boils down to it, he's a guy in a grey jumpsuit with a big blue box. It's got fanboy appeal, but not much beyond that.
What the Scanning Trooper has in it's favor is the shortpacking strategy Hasbro is taking with the Legacy Collection. Almost every case assortment I've seen lists every figure at 1 per case. But that could also be a problem with some of the fringe character choices.
That being said, I think it's a great figure. But does it have mass appeal? That remains to be seen.
-
The scanning trooper has sold out quickly on line. I was even going to order some from hasbro, but he was the first to go.
-
I bought three extra from BBTS when I preordered back in august and I was only able to order 3, I would have bought a few more. I do agree this wave overall is pretty weak in terms of choices but there are a lot of kid friendly figures. While I am happy to add them all to my collection they do not have that killer wave feeling, this was my least anticipated wave for this year. The pink bubble head broad will be worse than Yarna. (As Nick pointed out thankfully the smaller case ratios will limit the damage). She is pink, no kid will want to go near her, she will be the #1 dud of the wave and repack Padme in the #2 spot. The rest are not really pegwarmers when you take a step back:
1x Luke Skywalker Jedi Knight
1x Boba Fett
1x Commander Deviss
1x Padme Amidala
1x R2-D2 with Restraining Bolt and Jawa Stun Net
1x Han Solo (Stormtrooper Armor Parts)
1x Chewbacca with headset
1x Imperial Scanning Crew Technician
1x Jawa with security droid
1x Cantina Denizen Kal Fas
1x Cantina Denizen Leesub Sirin
1x Concept Art Series Ki-Adi-Mundi

That's a good point for early returns on him Anton, and I'd go a step further that Hasbro's repacking him, and have said army builders tend to do well like main characters. The Spacetrooper is a bonafied pegwarmer in my area, but he's still sold tremendously well up to this point. I think the Scanner tech has similar appeal. I think he's more collector-targeted, but so is the Hoth Rebel Trooper... The HRT has done phenomenally well by all accounts it seems, and I expect the Scanner Tech to be similar. The army building appeal is fairly vast, especially when the figure's high quality itself.

If they want more army building going on, they need to get prices back down to $6.00 or so. I'm not buying 12 of something at nearly $9.00 each.
-
The price argument is a significant consideration with the army building folks. For me though, the army building phenomenon hit it's peak when we started to see dozens of Clone Trooper repaints back in about 2006/07. It just seemed like army builder overload.
My point is that I think we're all eagerly anticipating the Scanning Trooper. But will it make that jump from fanboy appeal to mass appeal? That's a consideration that I believe gets glossed over far too often in almost every Star Wars collecting forum. Will it be an eye-catching enough figure to get mom's & dad's to buy one for little Timmy? I think those people who outnumber us all vastly will opt more often for the Han Solo, Chewbacca and R2-D2 in this wave. The Space Trooper made that leap because it was in essence a Stormtrooper. It's got that iconic Star Wars look. I still don't see many of them around compared with the TLC BLUE pegwarmers. And the TLC RED ones have been selling through, too.
As for me? I'm likely to buy perhaps 6 of each running change of the Scanning Crew. Because this figure would work not just as a scanning crewman, but as a Star Destroyer bridge tech. At least it's got that versatility going for it.
My overriding concern with discussion about this wave? Where are the previous waves? I could count on one hand the number of stores where I've seen TLC RED basic figures so far. Clone Wars and Saga Legends in the red packaging are everywhere. But the Legacy Collection's lack of presence at brick and mortar retail is cause for a lot of concern.
-
Got my shipping notice from EE on these today.
I've just opened my ROTJ figs. This is very reminescent of '07, when we got waves every week it seemed. On one hand, it's great - new figures are never boring - but on the other, it makes it hard to appreciate any of it.
-
In Scanner Techie news, I got one today in the mail... And it's quite spectacular. Short of a removable cap, there's really not a thing wrong with it that I can see. He's a nice average size. Very detailed sculpting and a lot of paint detailing work.
The patches on the shoulder are a tad goofy in how they protrude, but that doesn't bother me really.
It's the ideal figure for this outfit, finally. I'd actually be quite happy to see it down the road with the hat redecoed grey, and the hair a different color or some such.
I also think it'd be an interesting base to see a TIE Fighter Pilot with removable armor/helmet and such. It'd need a new head and Baron Fel's helmet/chest protector. New lower arms/wrists too, to be technical, or those from the new TIE Pilot at least. It's a pretty slick looking figure for sure though. Very nice sculpting in the wrinkles of the suit... A lot of depth to it.

If he didn't have appeal, that'd be great for me since I'm planning on taking out a second mortgage to pick up a bunch.

Does anyone know when Hasbro said the 2nd variant would be out?? ???
-
Yeah, I thought maybe it would pegwarm. Now I am getting worried about seeing it at all.
-
Yeah, I thought maybe it would pegwarm. Now I am getting worried about seeing it at all.
You'll probably see it. It's just selling out at HTS because the ANH wave is nowhere to be found at brick and mortar retail. The chain stores need a chance to catch up to online retail before anyone starts making pronouncements like this.
-
So my package got here today... completely soaked. Luckily I open this stuff up.
What was the deal on the cantina alien's eyes? I thought they were going to be dark, but the one I got is brown/yellow eyes with little black pupils in the middle. Is that the corrected version or are they still changing it or are they not bothering after all?
-
Hasbro confirmed (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=18556.msg446992#msg446992) that they are going to correct them.
-
That's what I thought... I wonder if this means there will be a variant. Because the eyes on mine are light with black dots.
-
That's what I thought... I wonder if this means there will be a variant. Because the eyes on mine are light with black dots.
Well, they apparently are going to correct them and there will be two different versions, so I think that is the definition of a variant, right? ;) Got mine yesterday and they are the gold eyes as well - I definitely prefer the black eyed look on the back though.
-
Well, they apparently are going to correct them and there will be two different versions, so I think that is the definition of a variant, right? ;)
Yeah, I know what it means thanks. I was sort of hinting that I wonder whether they're still going to fix them or not, since I thought they were fixing them before anything shipped.
-
Honestly, I'll be surprised if Hasbro changes the eyes, even though they've told us they will. Communication with the factory seems to be a weak point these days.
-

Well, I was sort of hinting that Hasbro already confirmed there will be two versions. ;) If you read the statement Jayson linked above, they clearly state it:
"This was just a production variant from our China vendor, and we have actually already made a production correction to the eyes to give him black eyes. "
They aren't saying they are going to correct it, they're saying the initial release is a variant and that they have already made the correction, which would indicate alternate black eyed figures have already been produced.
-
Hope these come out soon. Don't want to have to buy the error version. ::)

Gone now.

Hasbro said that it would be in the EU wave. Problem is, the EU wave does not have a Scanning Trooper in it. So it might not make it out.
I believe in an older Q&A Hasbro once stated that they were not 100% certain that it would be released during "Legacy" but I can't seem to find that one as I am presently lazy.
-

Yeah, I think they must have confused it with the Bespin Guard variant, which is supposed to be in the EU wave boxes.

-
I opened this wave up this morning (except the Jawa) and I have to say I am totally underwhelmed.
Han sucks...the paint on his arms doesn't match his shirt...his head is huge and the likeness is terrible. The stormtrooper helmet is obscenely oversized...poor all around
R2 is a lame rerelease
Chewie is alright and huge but pretty much a lame rerelease
Scanning Tech is sweet as hell and probably the star of the wave
Kal Fas has been on my want list forever and the eyes deal bugs me to no end...hopefully the corrected one gets out
Leesub is nicely done but an odd choice
And talk about odd choices...why the **** is there a Ki Adi Mundi in this wave...and who in the sam hell ever wanted this figure? He is cool and all but sticks out like a sore thumb
I realize that most of these figures don't appeal to me because I don't want them. The R2, Han and Chewie have been explained as a way to expand out the core character group but they all suck. And to top it off...I really don't care for the BADs this time either. Part of the letdown is that the ROTJ was soooo awesome, these just pale in comparison
-
Word on all of that. I think R2 a bit more than you did, but man. This wave is a let down. I personally never would have chosen the pink lady. Even in an era of obscure characters, I never knew she existed.
-
Wrong time for me to become an opener? TPM wave was okay and ROTJ kicked ass, but I have failure to look forward to with w10? This sucks.
I never knew she existed.
Same boat. Had no clue.
-
I think this wave is pretty awesome. I could do without R2, but I think if we're getting another Chewie this was a decent way to make it different (goes nicely with head-set Han and Luke)... any new cantina alien is grade-a in my book.
Concept Ki-Adi I don't really care about, but it's a nice figure.
The Han is a surprisingly nice figure.
-
I like Ki-Adi but not in an ANH wave, if that makes sense... A future ROTS wave, sure, but for ANH I'd preferred seeing them give us a Sandtrooper maybe, or Tarkin, or something that had to do with ANH because either from the film or from concept, ANH has a lot that can be done... Crowbarring ROTS stuff in is disappointing from that aspect.
That said I still like Ki-Adi's looks. Of course I have no hope finding him unless they become easy to get on HasbroToyShop I fear. ;)
-
Don't get me wrong, I love the Jawa and the droid (as I love all Jawas and droids). ;D Chewie I agree, cool update to an existing figure. Ki Adi... I don't know. I didn't really want him, and he'd be better off in a different wave. A concept figure from ANH or any OT film would have been more appreciated by me. Though there is a kick ass concept clone they've yet to do from that same Art of ROTS book.
-
(http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/images/products/out/large/HAS17778.jpg)
Here is a pic of Han...note the white arms. It is not armor...Han's undershirt is the tannish/yellowish it always is...white sleeves. It is way more noticable without the armor on. Also notice the ginormous helmet...which covers the ginormous head
And don't get me wrong either, both of Cantina aliens are great additions (except the inexplicable eyes) but this could have been a lot better wave IMO...such as releasing the R4 style R2 instead of this same inferior one that we already have 20 times over. Ditch the Ki Adi for something from ANH...use the VOTC Han for the base of the figure with a spot on head sculpt and give him a helmet...etc
-
I disagree that Leesub shouldn't have been made...she's been at the top of my cantina wishlist forever, under only the Tonnikas. It sounds like she and the scanning trooper are probably the only figures I'll be buying from this wave, unless Hrcheck's eyes get fixed.
Oh, and the Jawa. BTW I'm sure this has already been answered but does this Jawa have articulated knees?
-

They will be.

No, he doesn't.

We were also supposed to get a beardless Hoth Trooper...are you going to hold your breath?
-
We were also supposed to get a beardless Hoth Trooper...are you going to hold your breath?
Good point. ;D
-
But yeah, Ki-Adi seems like an odd fit here. He's a nice figure, but not something a lot of folks were asking for (were they?).
In all seriousness, yes-- this and dual-bladed Plo Koon were things I've been muttering for. So I'm actually pretty thrilled.
R2 is a lame rerelease
You say "tomato", I say "about damn time we got one with a non-chrome dome, this is my favorite R2-D2 figure in years."
...and I gotta agree, I don't think we'll see the Kal Fas eye variant. The run on this figure was most likely complete before Hasbro noticed. (It happens. The Tan AOTC Battle Droid was caught in early 2002 and made it out in the correct red color in early 2003.)
-
After opening R2, I agree, he's the best version we've recieved in a long time. I've never been a fan of the vac metal, either. I'm also really looking forward to the BP version, which I think is the Sneak Preview body.
-
I've got most of this wave now. And by far, my favorite figure in the wave is the Jawa with Security Droid. Simply awesome!
-
Got Han,Chewie,Jawa,Leesub and Kal Fas with wrong eyes - not accurate but still a damn fine figure- scale looks to have been translated rather well. Head sculpt is grade A.
Leesub is great ,very pettite but such an unusual colour -goes great in any diarama or line up of scum and villany you might be planning.
Han -actually like the face sculpt -but the chest of solo's vest look likes it covered in Dia Noga poo.(Must have missed that scene).
Still by and large great work Hasbro :)
-
I opened my Scanning Trooper. Wow, just wow. Even better in hand. I could buy every one I come across and still not have enough for what I'd like to do with this figure. I need two squads of nine minimum to fill in gaps in my re-structured battalion, I could easily paint more black to make better Jr. officers and add helmets to even more to make really nice At-St drivers, though the rumor is we'll be getting an upgrade in '10. I suppose that would be 111 in all if I had 3 platoons of 37 each - un-altered, black outfit, At-St driver. In the end, I'll just probably do 5 each of the black outfits and At-St drivers and just use them as Squad leaders and Platoon XO's. Love this figure.
-
I opened this wave this week, and was pretty happy with it overall as well. I can definitely see Scott's point that with just a few changes/better choices, it could have definitely helped.
Scanning Trooper - One of the brightest spots obviously, and a pretty nice army builder.
Han Solo - I'm always up for a new take on Han, but I would have almost rather just had a repacked VOTC Han (maybe adding the belt on). I noticed the arm/shirt paint differences right away as well. The new head sculpt for some reason reminds me of "big head" Han from the vintage line - which I guess is neat, but I prefer the previous VOTC version, and would still like to see it re-released.
Chewbacca - As others have said, nice way to put a good Chewie out there again - with something different.
Kal Fas - A cool Cantina alien, to be sure. The eyes are a bit annoying, but otherwise a nifty figure. I sort of doubt we get the correction as well.
Leesub - Always nice to get more Cantina denizens, but it did seem like an odd choice. I hadn't ever seen/heard of this one before this either.
R2-D2 - A slight improvement over the chrome domed version we've been getting constantly, but I'd rather we got a regular carded release of the repainted R4 (that is supposed to be coming in the Resurgence BP).
Jawa - Nice change on the Jawa, and sort of like the vintage "cloth cape" version in a way. I'm glad that we've been seeing a good amount of Jawas in the past few years, and all a bit different. The pack in droid is nifty too, I've bought a few of these.
Concept Ki Adi Mundi - As others have said, a nice enough figure although oddly placed. It would have been better with the ROTS wave. Again, pretty nicely done, but I guess the prequel concepts just don't seem as "cool" as the OT ones to me. If you see a lot of the McQuarrie figures, and even the new concept OT figures this year, they sort of scream old school "Sci Fi", where the prequel ones sort of remind me of something you would see in an EU comic.
Overall, I'm just happy to see more OT-based waves lately, and I'm pretty happy with the figure lineup. Some figures could have been better probably (or maybe just better choices), but not too bad overall. The lack of some figures (Bom Vimdin, etc.) kind of stinks, since I believe Hasbro said there is no ANH wave next year - so it will be a bit of a wait.
-
I think this wave is okay, I wouldn't mind if I only got one or two figures and then moved on.

I don't recall Dudley Moore playing Han Solo in any of the films....
Apologies for anyone who already made that joke.
I'm torn because I like the droid from this wave, but that figure is terrible. How come they didn't just reuse the Han Head and Helmet from the Stormie Han comic pack?
-

I don't recall Dudley Moore ever looking that drunk. And that's saying something. What a seriously awful figure.
On the bright side, I nabbed two Jawas at WM this morning, so I'm finally done with this wave!
-
I've read that the Han Solo from this wave is already (while in the packaging) showing up with the greenish slime. That's terrible. :(
-

I don't know about slime, but it is already showing up with dust on it. What a pathetic figure - I'm really bothered that I bought two of these. I guess with all the great stuff HAsbro has been releasing they were due for a dud.
-
I get what Hasbro was trying with Han, but ultimately his head is way too big and the mis-colored arms/shirt makes it sort of lame if you try to display without the armor.
I've got mine displayed wearing the torso armor, but holding the giant helmet. He looks ok that way, but not my favorite Han figure by a long shot. :-\
-
It does look better if you switch the new head and helmet for the head and helmet from the TLC BD31/LC BD02 Han in Stormtrooper. I'll probably get another of these new one though and just correct the shirt & sleeves myself.
-
Han's the only one I saw in the wild and he was a repack due to the droid part he had, so I passed on him, but yeah just looking at him makes me sorta queezy about even spending money on him. I think if I can track down a repack in the wave with that part, I will.
The head's incredibly wrong looking (like a kid I went to school with that had a head like a Mardis Gras paper mache one), and just so much about it is off. $8's too much to spend on junk these days, so I'll hope his part's repacked with one of the army builders or something.
-
I wish that Hasbro just didn't include the Han Solo in general. :( Yeah, he's iconic, but this figure is a downer. And to me the ANH wave is very dull. Hasbro's running out of major characters from ANH to make. :o
-
$8's too much to spend on junk these days, so I'll hope his part's repacked with one of the army builders or something.
Sadly, the BAD part (R3-A2's body) is repacked with the Boba Fett (BD36). But if it's any consolation, the Fett is painted differently from the Evo version so take that for what it's worth.
-
I think I'd rather have the extra Fett, honestly. I gotta break habit of buying just to buy, and Han's a good start I'm afraid. God forbid they ever use that headsculpt again.
-
Spotted remnants of this wave at WM today... everything but the Concept Ki-Adi. Multiple Scanner Troopers that made me almost lose control and immediately take them to the checkout. Passed on everything for now but I'm going to snag the Jawa and a few Scanners tomorrow. Passing on Lil Bossk until the corrected version comes out. Han is awful, and I'd consider him to be the worst figure made since the Naboo trooper from 2006.

You are in a wonderful situation if you can both pass on the Scan Trooper and Jawa today out of self control AND go back to the same store and expect to find them tomorrow. Those two figs dissapear faster than free food at a sorority house. I've spotted Jawa only once and still have not seen the ST in the wild.
-
God forbid they ever use that headsculpt again.
Yes. He looks better WITH the Stormie helmet on, permanently.....
-
Even then... He's still rough. I just don't get the figure I guess. It was a new take, but not a great one.
I'll take a new Han with the Trooper Belt on for a DSE look, or LUke for that matter, but the Han... That's a weak figure. And the arms aren't the right color for the shirt, right?
Eh, I'll nab that Fett and be happy, if he's even available. At this stage this wave's rough to find locally. I'm not so sure anyone's seen it yet actually.
-
I have been able to score all of the waves up to and including the ROTS wave and I have to say that I think the ANH wave is the weakest out of the first six waves planned for the 2009/2010 Legacy Collection.
The Han, Chewie and R2 figures should have been dropped in favor of updated versions of Tarkin, Uncle Owen, Ponda Baba, Dr. Evazan, Aunt Beru or heck throw in Fixer and Cammie - ANY of these would have been preferrable to the three figures we did get.
The cantina patrons are nice, can't say I was ever like "damn, I really hope they make Leesub Sirln" - but she fits nicely in my cantina diorama so I'm okay with getting her as a figure. Would have personally preferred Bom Vimdin, but oh well, maybe one day.
The BADs are okay - the clear dome on this R3 (as opposed to the more cloudy dome of the R3 from the ROTJ wave) is nice, but the R4 is nothing special.
-
Eh, I'll nab that Fett and be happy, if he's even available. At this stage this wave's rough to find locally. I'm not so sure anyone's seen it yet actually.
Yep, I'm passing on Solo and getting Fett. :P
-
Yeah...Han is a bust. He went right into "the box"...
My figures usually get put on display shlelves for a while, but every now and then, one sucks so bad, it immediatly gets packed away...
-
Spotted remnants of this wave at WM today... everything but the Concept Ki-Adi.
Went back today and the Jawa was gone... but a Concept Ki-Adi that wasn't there yesterday was hanging on the pegs instead... odd. Anyway, I snagged him and two Scanning Troopers. The Trooper is awesome, another notch in the Great Army Builder belt of 2009.
I just hate how I'm about 3 waves behind now. I've seen remnants from all of the new cardback waves but I haven't been able to complete everything.
-
You're one up on me then since I've not even seen repacks from the ANH wave yet. Soon though, I'm hoping.
-
The Scan Trooper accepts the AT-ST helmet rather nicely...which is why the AT-ST Pilot is a no brainer for coming out next year
-
Over the hat? ???
-
Yeppers
-
Now that's weird.
I've got my lone scanner dude working on a knee joint on an AT-ST. He may need to borrow a brain bucket here though. I wonder if that's how Hasbro would market him? I'm much more a fan of removable hats/helmets, but I'm surprised the new helmet that's never fit the heads it's been matched with, actually fits a figure wearing a full hat.
I'm hoping for a removable helmet, removable goggles, and the works on a future AT-ST driver, but that's a good hold-over till then.
-
Keep in mind that the helmet fit the Han pretty decently while the reused helmet was added to smaller heads.
-
Like Jeff mentioned, I can understand what Hasbro was going for with the Han, but it didn't turn out real spectacular. I've said it a hundred times on here already probably, but I really wish they would just re-release the original VOTC Han. To me, that is one of the best figures of all-time, and certainly one of the best Hans, and we've basically never seen that original figure again.
-
What I find puzzling about the release of the new Han is that we just got him in full stormtrooper disguise a couple waves before. On its own, without the helmet and armor, the figure is pretty good (despite the odd shirt coloration) and a decent upgrade to the POTJ version. Maybe instead of Han, we should have gotten a farmboy Luke with headgear to complete the Han, Chewie and Luke trifecta. :P
-
HTS.com has these up for shipping on 12/1.
In my experience, they usually ship even a little sooner.
Also Wave 11 and other goodies.
-
I just got this wave and my early thoughts are it's superior by a longshot to the ROTS wave... I passed on Han and got Fett too. I couldn't bear the Han figure. I've opened nothing yet, but will later I think.
-
I opened up what I picked up yesterday.
R2 - It is want it is, nice figure to begin with with decent enhancements.
Han - cheep. I'm just choosing to ignore the helmet and chest plate. Basically, he replaces the POTJ version.
Chewie - nice enhancement, but when it come down to it, the above three figures are Malibu Stacy with a new hat.
Leesub is a decent new figure, glad this one is marked off the check list.
Ki-Adi-Mundi is a very nice figure, but I could care less about it.
R3-A2 - great upgrade, but I'm not sure how I feel about upgrades as opposed to new droids.
Without the Jawa and Hrchek in hand, I can already say that I liked the ROTJ wave better, though the Scanning trooper makes up for a lot of the slack in this wave single handedly.
-
Even then...
I haven't found this wave yet. Heck, I'm still trying to find more gungans and the ewoks.

My ANH stuff shipped out today.

I agree the scan technician is stunning, we fancy a new variant with another head and removable cap (but it is not urgent)
I think the case of Chewie versions
How many times Hasbro can repack the same mold only with a few new accesories? In this case it was the headset
But indeed Chewie looks nice, (they have painted his nails), thye could have painted his fingers and toes in a different colour, not the same fur tone. only one lip make the difference in the head, but Hasbro should reconsider the paint job in Chewie votc case, for areal update (must be complete if they continue the repacks of this mold)
-
I finally picked up Kal Fas and the Jawa to finish this wave. Both are very good figures making up for the Han, Chewie and R2. The R4 is alright, but the whole R4 designation on an R2 body will always bug me.
-
GRR, I still need this whole wave.
-
GRR, I still need this whole wave.
I haven't seen this wave AT ALL. Maybe during/after the holidays. Which means the ROTS and ESB waves ... man, too far away! ::)
-
I've only seen the Han, Chewie, and R2, and couldn't bring myself to buy any of them.
-
Chewie's not bad, nor is R2. I find the Evolutions Chewie to be perfect, and I gladly bought even a Legends one when I saw it so I had a nice new Mynock Hunt Chewie... The headset Chewie goes nice with Headset Han. I plan to display them as the two driving my BMF whenever I can open it up and hang it somewhere.
R2's nice because he's sporting the restraining bolt and whatnot... Not perfect, but he's not terrible.
-
I spotted Boba the other night and ended up passing... I thought I wanted that figure (since it has the logo the Evolutions set is missing) but in the end I decided that it wasn't worth $7.50 for the logo. Also the colors are too comic book like... kinda reminded me of the original action feature Boba from 2003.
The R2 is really tempting too, but I have enough of him with the VOTC sculpt. Yeah the restraining bolt looks great and so does the non-metallic dome, but again, not worth $7.50 to me, and I'll continue to wait for the R4-G9 sculpt.
-
The Evo Boba did get fixed, if you want a better color. Not sure if I have an extra of the Evo with the emblem or not though, but I do have the fixed one in my collection for sure.
-
Well, it sounds like we've finally got some confirmation that there is absolutely NO variant (http://hanshideout.blogspot.com/2009/12/hasbro-star-wars-q-session-20.html) scanning guard coming... at least not until 2011. :(
** We were trying to get the second Imperial Scanning Crew Member into the EU wave, but we can confirm now that this will *not* happen since all production has been wrapped up for the red/white Legacy lineup and the factory was not able to get the Crewman in. At this point, he will not be produced in the Legacy line. He remains an important variant to bring out and we will be looking for ways to get him into the line, but at this point it will likely not be before 2011. He *will* eventually make it out, but we just need time to slot him in.
What a bummer. The scanning box that was coming with the variant was waaaay better than the box on wheels we ended up getting. :-\
-
As long as he happens, and he's available easily for a fair price (IE: basic retail), fine then. The whole cluster**** they seem to have with communication overseas is really becoming comical though. It's a problem for sure, but it's become something they almost seem inept with. That is pretty disappointing and disconcerting about the factories they're working with, if Hasbro can't seem to keep things in order.
What's the pure **** of it all is that the variant Hoth Rebel, and the variant Imperial Scanner Tech, are far superior army builders to the figures we actually have gotten. That sucks like I cannot believe. ::) Not to mention the Hoth Rebel is the first actually decent Rebel army builder they've really done in the basic line (Honor Guard aside)... It's just very disappointing to me. The Scanner Tech's equally disappointing to me as well though, as I really like that figure (even without a removable cap).
-
I am pretty sure now that this will be the same fate as a non ****** up eyes Kal Fas...the chances of that changing is about as good as the other plans they had
(http://www.jedidefender.com/jsmentek/cantina_aliens/saurin.jpg)
I'd also really like to see the source material where they actually showed ****** up eyes like they made...this picture of Sai'torr was about as close as I could find
(http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/starwars/images/1/13/Saitorr-kal-fas.jpg)
-
Perhaps the eye issue is a miscommunication where they intended black with a gold fleck in the center, and the factory got it backwards? The gold in the center then intended to be a "reflection" similar to some other deco details they've tried?
Disappointed regardless on that too.
-
The whole cluster**** they seem to have with communication overseas is really becoming comical though.
Statement of the year JJ. No doubt.
Anybody still have those old pics of monkeys running Hasbro?
-

It's just such a silly straw man - "It's not us, it's the factory."
I'm going to start blaming all of my problems on it too I think.
::power goes out at Dressel's house halfway through watching a Twilight Netflix::
Dressel's wife: "What the hell? Did you pay the electric bill?"
Dressel: "Ugghghhhghghgh!!! Why can't the Hasbro Factory ever pay our bills on time!?!"
-
Don't get me wrong, overseas communications are a problem and I've dealt with similar stuff in my day... But I'm to the point, after this many goofs anyway, that you gotta hope they're looking at the factory and saying, "WTF guys? Get it together or we're going to have problems dealing in the future. This is a lot of gaffs in one year". Or something along the lines of trying to make the factory be more cooperative.
But, whatever... I think I'm really more just disappointed that the best rebel army builder ever is basically not happening, as well as maybe the best Imperial army builder in at least the last year, because of this crap. :-\
-
Wow - so no variant Scanning Crew Trooper?! >:(
I think if they have learned anything this year it's that if they intend on doing a "variant" they either need to NOT show us until the variant is slotted in OR in the cases like this Scanning Crew Trooper, they should have just packaged him with the spare head and then alternated the accessory.
At least that way, it would already be out - granted it would make the figure a complete pain in the butt to find, but at least we'd have it.
I don't know what I'm more disappointed about - the lack of the second crewman or the fact that out of the two accessories we got the weaker/more-lame one. :-\

A real drag for me. I had planned to stop at 30 of the current variant, now I'll have to go a little further.
-

Is the REALLY a surprise to anyone? Did you honestly believe Hasbro was going to give us a huge box pack-in when they were already "giving" us the BaD part?
I'm not at all surprised it went down this way.
BTW, this is actually THREE Variants not to make it out in one year. Lest we forget the lowly 2nd Utai. Though that's more a second sculpt than variant, still, I think it counts.
I'm actually surprised we got the second Ugnaut.
-
At least 3 strikes from Hasbro in regards to the variants. Another with Kal Fas' eyes.
-
According to the latest Yakface Q&A (http://www.yakfaceforums.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=125&t=5045), factory errors are also to blame for the McQuarrie box sets not having all of the accessories. ::)
You'd think this many major screw ups would result in someone being fired, but I guess not.
-
Hasbro dropped the ball big time with Kal Fas. They knew exactly what his eyes were supposed to look like. Heck, just look at the picture of him on the card. How they managed to use the correct image of him while completely screwing up the figure is beyond me.
-

Oh, and add the correct lightsaber color to Agen Kolar as well in that list.
-
And assemble Cody's belt upside-down. Which, according to the Big H, isn't going to be fixed anytime soon. :(
-
I watched the ANH 1977 version last night just to find all the characters from this wave. It was funny, I found all the characters. And I also saw the Spacetrooper for the first time! I wouldn't have noticed him if Hasbro didn't make the basic figure.
-
Wait, the spacetrooper is actually in the films? I always thought that was an EU thing.
-
Yes, i think the 2 of them are only visible on the bottom of the screen on the widescreen/letterbox releases as the Falcon is being pulled into the Death Star.
-
In fact the trooper is "screen accurate" in that they used Joe Johnston's head for the sculpt (who played one of the troopers)
-
Wow... no ****. Was that only in the Special Editions or was it always that way?
I've got some rearranging on my shelves to do...
-
They've always been there :)
-
I was always wondering why they used that dude's head. Wow. I like the history to this guy.
And I had to pass up a Jawa with security droid at Target. Totally regret it (he's SO hard to stumble across!). :'( I would have got it, but didn't have the money... sigh .... such is life ...
-
They've always been there :)
I believe in the old storybooks you could see them.
-
Wait, the spacetrooper is actually in the films? I always thought that was an EU thing.
Freaky...I had no clue - same with the recent pink chick from the Cantina. Gotta love those split second characters from the movies. What the hell else is Hasbro going to pull out of their asses in 2012-2018 with the OT? Loves me the Spacetrooper though. :)
-
This wave's been surprisingly sparse near me. Not much sign of it anywhere.
-
I've seen far more of this wave than the ROTJ or TPM waves, that's for sure.
-
TPM was rare here, but ROTJ wave is a dime a dozen anymore, mostly since early December... some figures are still tough to track down from it, but the wave in general has become findable. Leia is the only figure still completely uncommon, but all the rest can be found in some capacity... the skiff guards and Malikili are everywhere. Target got it in heavily first, as did TRU and K-Mart later, even up till last week... WM didn't get as much of it for a while, but they're getting it now for some reason (revision cases) and it's become a lot more common there now as well.
TRU and KM were the only two I saw any ANH wave at, and they've dried up at both pretty much, except the pink chick and some repacks. TRU had just gotten some ANH wave in last week for the sale and they're all gone now it seems. KM's only got ROTJ wave now, if they even have that after their sales last week also.
ROTJ's actually starting to pegwarm here though now... Malikili's are fairly common at this stage locally at every retailer. Not a TON of them though, at least, but definitely a routine sight now.
ROTS hit harder than all of them till the ROTJ wave surge of the last couple weeks which is now everywhere. Some ANH repacks of that hang around too, with the YVH droid part. ROTS wave's probably still the easiest to find at any given retailer still though. Those WM Pallets helped that along.
TPM I saw in abundance only one time, and that was at a temp toy store at the local mall. LOADS of TPM all for $10 a figure. Only time I saw the complete TPM wave ever.
ESB 2.0 has been very dry here. One quick hit of a couple cases here and there, and if you were lucky you got there when a full set was on the pegs or you didn't get a full set (yet). I'm still hoping to find 4 from that wave yet to be all caught up finally.
-
The ANH wave is just starting to hit sparsely in my area. Same with you JesseJames, the TPM wave was OVER-abundant at least one time, and now it's completely gone. The ROTS and ESB waves have yet to strike. ::)
-
I finally saw this wave for the first time today, and they were all in BOGO bonus figure packaging. ;D
-
I finally saw this wave for the first time today, and they were all in BOGO bonus figure packaging. ;D
Holy crap. That makes no sense!
-
The best part was that they were packaged together. So the Leesub Sirln was with the Jawa/Security Droid; R2 was with Boba; etc. I already had the Evolutions Padme that was hooked to Kal Fas out of the Evolutions pack, and the Scanning Crew members came with red clone commandos, but hey, for free, I ain't complaining.
-
I saw a couple ANH figures, but I saw more ROTJ wave in the BOGO format as well, and at Target. But I did see a couple ANH figures in there too, as well as some from other waves. A real hodgepodge.
-
Which figures do the BOGO packs cover/include?
-
At this point I'm not sure that is clear.
-
Well, what I've seen in person (just the Legacy figures, not the Legends, which are also paired up this way) includes:
ESB Boba Fett with R2-D2
Imperial Scanning Crew with Clone Commander Deviss
Rum Sleg with Darth Sidious Hologram
Leesub Sirln with Jawa & Security Droid
TPM Obi-Wan Kenobi with Gungan Warrior
Clegg Holdfast with Jawa & WED Treadwell Droid
DS2 Luke With Concept Ki Adi Mundi
Han Solo (with Stormtrooper helmet and chestplate) with Chewbacca (with headset)
...and some others I can't remember exactly that included TPM Padme, Evolutions AOTC Padme, shirtless Maul, Hrchek Kal Fas, Biker Scout, and Han and Luke in Stormtrooper armor. And these aren't always paired up the same, but most of what I've seen is generally the pairs I listed.
What I haven't seen but have heard of:
Giran with Ewoks
Ugnaught with Nikto Gunner
Slave Leia with DS2 Luke
Saleucami Trooper with Major Panno
ARC Trooper with Nien Nunb
The quantities have varied, but I've visited six or so Targets in Western Washington and all had at least a few of these. I'd be happy to help someone out if I can find what you're after in exchange for some of the ROTJ figures. Prices and distribution have kept me out of the game for months, so I've been really excited to get caught up via these sets.
-
I've only seen a couple of variations on the BOGO's. Mostly it's the TPM wave. But I did see Saga Legends BOGO packs, too.
-
I wish they'd pair that 501st trooper with another 501st trooper... I'd buy a bunch of those.
-
I wish they'd pair that 501st trooper with another 501st trooper... I'd buy a bunch of those.
I saw one paired with a Super Battle Droid. Not a bad pairing, IMO.

I must have picked up 3 of that particular set (SBD/501st) plus a few of the Sandtrooper/SBD sets. I saw a Shock Trooper/Clone Trooper (Ep.3) set but I passed on it. I almost regret that now.
-
I STILL need the Chewie (with Orange droid part) from this wave... sigh, I don't think I'll ever find it.
-
I STILL need the Chewie (with Orange droid part) from this wave... sigh, I don't think I'll ever find it.
The ANH is relatively new ... the ESB wave is barely hitting and the EU wave is coming in a few weeks/days(?).
Found the Jawa/Leesub BOGO pack. It was the only one on shelves ... shelves are a mess from the after-holiday shoppers! ::)
-
Any updates on this wave still being in the pipeline? Any recent sigtings of more of these? I saw pretty much everything last year at least once save for this wave...and I wouldn't have thought to look for it if I hadn't seen repacks of Han R2 and the Stormie.
Reading about this wave being found in BOGO packs disturbs me. Hasbro was clearing out their inventory with those but that doesn't mean this wave is all gone now does it?
The way I take what I've read latey (been out of the loop) there ought to be stuff that shipped to the stores and is stll sitting in the warehouses, being bypassed by the "fasttracked" later waves that would have been stuck even further back in the pipeline.
It would be nice to know if they are still making their way out to retail. Are the stores planning on selling us something until Vintage starts?
-
I was sort of wondering if we'd continue to see at least the past couple waves of Legacy ship for a few more months or not as well. With the EU wave now being TRU exclusive, its going to be pretty barren as far as movie figures go for quite some time. I know I haven't seen anything stocked at our local stores as far as Legacy goes for quite awhile, and I think I could count on one hand how many there are on the pegs (1 each of Leesub Sirin and Rancor Keeper at Target, and that's about it last I checked). I thought maybe we would at least see more of the ESB wave, which only hit here one time (at Wal-Mart) that I've seen.
-
The ESB wave is hitting locally (Iowa) every week now for the last month or so, which I think is a good sign overall. Some older cases (ANH, ROTJ) come through sproadically.
