So Long Mister Rogers and Captain Kangaroo
« Reply #2 on: February 27, 2003, 09:31 AM »
Television's "Mister Rogers," the cultural icon and kindly neighbor to generations of American children, died Thursday at the age of 74.

I grew up watching his show "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood"

He will be missed.  :(

Please won't you be my neighbor?

I also grew up watching the show. I have cought bits and pieces of reruns through out the years and they always took me back for a moment to my childhood.

 RIP

Very sad indeed.  I know Mr. Rogers has been the butt of more than a few jokes over the years, but this was really a wonderful man who spent his life trying to help children.  I was certainly one of the many who would watch Mr. Rogers every day on TV when I was a little kid (along with Sesame Street, of course).

R.I.P. Mr. Rogers, I hope to be your neighbor again some day...   :)

Thanks for the link, Dale.  I looked for an "official" confirmation but couldn't find one.

Loved him in 1941 and really enjoyed him in Airplane! as well.

Rest in peace, Mr. Stack.
Post sober.

I was just reading this story on CNN earlier this morning.  Sad indeed.  Always a bit surprising/strange when one of the celebrity "tough guys" actually passes away, just because he's...well, tough.   :-\

My condolences to his friends and family...   :(

It's sad to see such an awesome person go like that.  I used to love his show, Unsolved Mysteries.  There wasn't anything in the world that would tear my brother and I away from the TV when that show was on.

He will be missed.  MTFBWY!

Man, he was the best.  My Dad was a huge fan of his (as is my Mom).  If he was on TV, there was no way we'd be able to convince my Dad to change the channel.

Hats off to one of the best entertainers of all time.
