Great points Virex. My issue is... all those people you listed are being paid for their performance...

Bottom line, that's what I was talking about...

We understand that JD didn't get coverage, but it's not like you couldn't go to another site for 5 minutes and see their coverage.  You want someone to be able to come through a pristine 100% of the time, go look at RS, they have a hardcore cashflow... but don't bitch bitch bitch about JD's lack of coverage, **** happens.  Like you don't have things that take priority to going to a convention and taking pictures.  Like I said before, don't like it, do it yourself.   ;)

I'm done on this topic.  It's ****** that it had to be started in the first place...

My $.02 are as follows:

If it's really such a problem that some people didn't get their Toy Fair news, then perhaps they should've gone to Toy Fair and done up some articles for the rest of us to read... Perhaps contribute to the site in that way... you'd be a hero for it.  Oh, and now comes the "it's not my job" or "I can't afford to do stuff like that"... odd isn't it?

This isn't a "we're out for your $" site like other forums out there, so relax.  Chris already said that there was a problem.  He didn't say "We didn't care about giving you guys TF news... so shut up".  He said that something happened that wasn't supposed to and he's looking into it.

There's just too much whining going on.  You don't like how something's done (or not done), then do it yourself. This is a fun site, and some people are turning it south.  Knock it off.  Like I said... maybe you complainers should've taken a trip to TF.  And honestly, how hard is it to just look at another site for coverage and talk about it here... it's not.

At any rate, that's all I have to say, and no matter how bitchy or rude people get here, I'll still stick around.  This place is far superior to other sites in every way (except for TF coverage this year... boo hoo)... let's try to keep it that way.  That's all I have to say, go ahead and stone me.  I've got wide shoulders, I can take the hatred.   :-*

Oh, and nobody should resign their position just because of something this petty...

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Estes Model Rockets

Yeah me and my friend launch em off all the time. :P
Obviously your shoot aint deploying. Only happened to me once, and I've launched hundreds of times. Just make sure you wrap the shoot right.

It was weird... the rocket was the "Gnome", and everything went smoothly... went up fairly straight, recovery system (streamer) came out... it was textbook... but when it landed, it landed so awkardly that it bent the body tube beyond fixing... it really sucked...

Here are pics of 3 of my rockets:

This rocket was "premade" and came with one of my launcher kits...

This rocket is an E2X (Alpha III) kit that came with another launch set... (I hate decals)

And, here's the Gnome, the one that landed awkardly on the first launch... (once again, no decals)

Anyone else a builder and flyer of these bad boys?  I've only got a few left because for some reason on the recovery, when the rocket hits the ground it either tears or dents or folds... it pisses me off... If anyone's interested, I'll post some pics of 'em...

Easily my loose 12-Back set with all the originaly accesssories at less than $5/figure!

Just like the title says... looking for all 12 12-Backs on C-5ish cards... bubbles have to be clear... creases on the card are okay (as long as the paint isn't "broken"), dents in the bubble are okay (as long as the figure is alright).  I'm not interested in cracked and/or yellowed bubbles.  I'm looking to spend about $100 per figure (at most).  I understand that it isn't much money, but I'm not looking for pristine specimens here either.  Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!

Throw that in a Star Case and slap it on the wall and it looks beautiful! That's the kind of stuff I'm talking about... if I could get the 12-Backs on cards exactly like those, I'd be uber-happy...

Thanks for everyone's replies! As for Morgbug's comment about recarded figures,
I've explored that route heavily.  The main reason I won't settle for recards is
because the ones I've seen are a minimum of $40+! That's ridiculous! I could
spend just about double that and get a C-4-6 condition legit card.  Also, I think
it was also Morgbug that said that all he's really concerned about are a nice
clean bubble, and a nice clean picture.  That's the EXACT same thing that
I'm looking for.  But to me, even the image can have slight, and I mean slight
imperfections.  Hopefully, years down the road, and I mean a long way off, I'll
probably aim to get all of the 12-Backs AFA graded 75+...

For now, though, I have all of the 12-Backs loose and in ProTech cases:

Now I want carded versions in almost any condition (clear bubbles is a MUST) to
throw in Star Cases and display them as a set... Like I said, years from now, I'll
get the AFA graded versions and they'll be my true masterpiece set.  I'm just
obsessing over these 12-Backs...

Thanks again for everyone's interest!

Collections / Re: Where Does Your Collection Reside?
« on: January 30, 2006, 01:06 AM »
The 2nd bedroom in our apartmen is the computer/SW room... I have figures on every single wall... I'll have to update it with more pictures, but you can see the older ones in the "Collections" section... indeed, it's great having a wife that cares about your dreams as much as you care about hers!

Sadly, none! I was born in 1984... one year after ROTJ debuted, so I never originally had any Vintage figures... So, I'm not really (re)collecting, I'm collecting for the very first time!

That's pretty cool actually, how has that experience been? Seeing some of your other posts you appear to be going head first into collecting the vintage picking up anything and everything that interests you. It must be exciting to pickup these toys and really see them for the first time.

It's more than that, it's like opening the door to a brand new EVERYTHING! There's just something so much better (in my opinion) about the vintage figures than the modern ones.  The cardbacks are amazing, just absolutely beautiful!  I can't wait to get my hands on my first carded vintage figure... that's going to be the epitome of the "perfect day"!... I seriously get jittery just thinking about it... I'm thinking it's going to be a Tusken Raider 12-Back style!!!

Thanks guys... my main concern, like you said, is a nice clear bubble... I'm mainly concerned with the figure itself so it would be pointless to buy any figure with a screwy bubble... you wouldn't even be able to see the figure...

Also, when I say I don't mind a creased card, I mean it to a certain extent... a creased card doesn't bother me, AS LONG AS the creases haven't torn the paint.  That's unacceptable, too... other than that, a little sticker, or some creases are more than welcome... Obviously, if money wasn't a factor, I'd buy the best cards that I could, but money IS a factor to me, and I can only spend so much... know what I mean?  But I do appreciate your input, guys! Thanks!

Vintage Kenner / Mint Figures on Any Condition Card
« on: January 29, 2006, 11:48 AM »
Does anyone collect vintage figures that are sealed on the card, but you don't really care the condition of the card? I'd like to get all the 12-Backs Mint on Card, but to be honest the condition of the card isn't all that important to me... I wouldn't mind getting them in like C-2+ condition. As long as the figures are sealed and near-pristine in their bubbles, I'd be happy. Does anyone else collect like this, or are most people after MOMC 12-Backs?

To be honest, the reason I'm not so interested in cardback condition is because it's much more cheaper to collect the figures that have a more severely dinged up cardback... I'm just looking for the figures that I can put in Star Cases and admire them as a set... am I crazy?

Any feedback would be great...
