The Legacy Collection / Re: Wal Mart Droid Factory Sets
« on: February 16, 2008, 10:25 PM »
Actually it does matter, doesn't it?  Don't we have a hood down version at the moment, not hood up?

We got the 2 "hood down" versions  (brown & blue) in 2007, we'll get the two "hood up" versions (brown & blue) in 2008.  Like they said, one in the new Hoth BP (with Chew/Probe Droid/astro droid/K-3PO) and the other in the WM Droid FActory Pack.

So the Battle pack figure will be different from the Droid Factory figure? (i.e. blue coat vs. brown coat) - that's good to hear. I'm glad we're finally getting a VOTC quality version of Han Solo in Hoth Gear w/the Hood Up and the icing on the cake is that we're going to get both coat colors too. Cool!

Hey - did Hasbro indicate that the Legacy Collection figures will come with bases too? Or because there is a piece of a droid with each figure, that's considered the pack-in and we're back to not getting bases again with the figures.

If that ends up being the case, I hope that Hasbro decides to continue to offer boxes of bases, but instead of having it be a mix of all movies and two EU bases, I think they need to start making bases that are solid for each movie. So you get the "Empire Strikes Back" figure stand set and in that set it comes with labels that are all characters from ESB, etc... This way, folks could get a box of all EU bases which will certainly come in handy with giving bases to all of the Comic 2-pack figures, EU figures in the Evolutions sets and bases to EU-inspired figures in the regular line.

The winner in the Padme set is the AOTC outfit that she wore during the back-half of the movie. We've needed a really good version of that outfit for some time and I'm glad we're getting it as part of the Evolutions set.

I am kinda disappointed by the other two though - I had hoped that whatever they did for TPM or ROTS, the outer "gowns" would be soft-goods to allow the figures to sit. I have a throne that is part of the Queen's Starship that has remained EMPTY for almost ten years now because they refuse to give us a version of Queen Amidala which is anything but a salt-shaker with some arms. So the Pre-Senate Gown Amidala is a bit of a let-down.

The night-gown Padme has thrown me completely, the scene where she has the bun-hairdo was what I was sure they were going to put in this set. I guess the night-gown scene was pretty important too, but again, since they couldn't sculpt a naked Padme and then make the night-gown soft-goods, I really don't feel that this figure is up-to-snuff when it comes to Evolutions/Vintage quality.

Is it just me or does Ten Nuib look a little tall? Something tells me that we're going to get this exact same body with a human head and a smaller helmet packed in with the B-Wing vehicle that's exclusive to TRU.

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: 30AC Star Wars Comic Packs

That Darth Talon figure looks amazing. I can't wait to add that to my collection. I have Sith Lords on my desk at work so I will definitely be buying an extra of that set so I can add her to my desk.

Picked up the v2 Pit Droids in the White w/Gray Stripe variety. Need one more of those and two more each of the other two colors in the v2 variety and I can consider the pit droids "done".

Have there been any reports of the TSC Body Sandtrooper w/Black Pauldron and clean paint-op showing up in these new waves that are shipping with the Captain Rex offer on the bubble?

Hey Jeff - any word on the clone that will come with the AT-TE? Will it be a Clone Wars version of the AT-TE Gunner or just a standard Clone?

Nice! I'm torn now on getting this sub line....But I'm edging ever closer to getting them. But I don't want to and if I do, I'll be sorely tempted to army build. Something I've all but sworn off except the new Kashyyyk clone. It's already going to be an expensive year, especially regarding all of the great vehicles coming out this year!

I defintely feel your pain. I'm not entirely keen on the Clone Wars animated line, but I'm not going to completely ignore an entire sub-line which is going to contain some great vehicles (V-19, Homing Spider Droid and the AT-TE) - so I think I will do what I did with the other animated series, two of each, one to open and one to keep MOC. I will not army build ANY of these clones. I will send away for probably five or six Captain Rex figures, but only because I have a complete spare set of TAC figure packaging inserts that I can pull UPCs from, so I figure I might as well put them to good use. Perhaps I'll feel differently when I see them in person, but right now, based on the photos, since the clones don't "fit" in with all of the other mountains of clones that I have, I will consider this a "novelty" 3.75" sub-line that does not consist of any army-builders worth adding to my current armies.

Yes, C-3PX is from the Droids Comic book series that was put out by Dark Horse.

This vehicle looks sweet! I'm so happy that this design is finally coming to the toy line!

Neither am I - I wouldn't be surprised to see it for at least another year as well - perhaps 2010 when it's the 30th anniversary of ESB.

Next year will be the 10th anniversary of TPM - I could see them trotting out the Queen's Starship as an exclusive to someone next year - which wouldn't be a bad thing since it really is a great toy.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Clone Speederbike Recon Set/Battlepack?
« on: February 16, 2008, 03:23 PM »
Well, if they're sticking two white colored OT speederbikes in a pack with a pair of kitbashed Snow/Scout troopers - why wouldn't they put a pair of BARC Speeders with a pair of kit-bashed PT clones. Makes sense to me.

When you think about the fact that Battlepacks can be had for $20 and in instances like these you get two figures AND two vehicles, there is an instant play-pattern that appeals to kids and parents who buy for kids PLUS there is an appeal to an army builder who may want to have a squad of four or six of these and they can do that very easily by picking up multiple battlepacks. So it's a win-win formula for Hasbro IMHO.

The Legacy Collection / Re: Droid Factory Build A Figure
« on: February 16, 2008, 03:19 PM »
The fact that we're getting an R7 droid as part of the droid factory ROCKS. I've always wanted to see them make figures of the new model EU astromech droids. The B-A-F method helps this out immensely.

Also, as was predicted, it looks like you'll be able to mix-and-match parts should you want to create unique droids.

So I wonder how the Protocol droids will break down - will it take five or six figures to make one protocol droid?

2924
Well, I guess this settles it - Hasbro really DOESN'T want a lot of our money.

If they had done realistic style I would have army built all of the clones and the droids - especially the droids.

Now, they will be lucky if I pick up two of each figure (one to open, one to keep MOC).

At least it looks like the vehicles will remain compatible with the regularline. The Homing Spider Droid looks wicked.

I think most of the action features will turn out to be in the accessories. Didn't we get a spy report that a lot of the figures were super-articulated to some degree?

I could see them re-using the Quick Draw clone body from ROTS - that figure had a solid action feature that didn't affect the overall articulation of the figure. It didn't have any torso articulation, but that's a minor trade-off. Same thing goes with the lightsaber slashing action (which is really the same mechanism).

I'm okay with things staying on that level. It's when you get to "Spin Kick Obi-Wan" or "Flying Through the Air Yoda" that it gets ridiculous 'cause the features NEVER work.
