Title: 2024 TVC Jabba the Hutt Box Set w/Crumb and 8D8

"$89.99 and will be available fall 2024; you can pre-order starting Wed, July 19 at 10:00 am ET, exclusively at Hasbro Pulse."

Sounds like it was designed to work with the upcoming TBOBF Throne Room playset... kinda surprised that it isn't due until Fall 2024 though.  Wouldn't it have made more sense to time this to come out at the same time as that Throne Playset?

Jabba = repack of the HasLab Sail Barge Jabba (which was a repaint of the 2015 TRU Rancor Pit box set Jabba)
Crumb = all-new, will come on a mini TVC ROTJ card
8D8 = all-new, will come on a standard TVC ROTJ card
Dais = repaint of TBOBF Throne Room dais
most of the accessories are repaints/repacks from past Jabba/Palace sets

Wow, the set looks great. I agree on the release timing, it would have been nice to get it closer to the Throne Room playset release and in the ROTJ 40th Anniversary collection. I was ok with the 30AC Salacaious Crumm, but I do dig the new one. 8D8 looks FANTASTIC. And there's no way this is his only release. I'd be willing to bet he later gets put on a single card for carded collectors who want to "Complete the 96", hopefully they use the old ROTJ art rather than something from his TBOBF appearance. I guess the delayed release will let me set up the Throne Room set as a TBOBF scene for awhile before it gets permanently converted into Jabba's Palace when this set comes out.

$89.99 sure is a far cry from the old $9.99 blue Saga Ultra Jabba we got back in '04... Value of the set is still decent by today's standards (especially given the $40 Krrsantan we are about to get), but I still wouldn't have minded it being about $20 cheaper. I would have taken the rugs and pillows sculpted to the dias to cut costs, but they gotta double dip from the Throne Room set and release all of those again to justify the higher pricepoint here.  Those rugs do at least look like they are made of some sort of soft-goods. Here's roughly how I'd see the cost breaking down:

Gotta wonder if they'll card and number Salacious Crumb to satisfy those who weren't able the get the SDCC one (I'm guessing they won't).  From what I understand, it's a different pose than the SDCC one, but that doesn't matter to me.

Uhm...I probably am not in on this one.

I have the Jabba from the TRU Rancor set. I have the Boba Fett Throne Room on order. I don't know if I can justify $90 for a railing, 8-D8 and Crumb.

I fully expect a fully newly tooled 8-D8 to get carded on a BOBF card, probably hitting next year, too. If they don't mention him being TVC carded in the set, it's a dead giveaway. They gotta do the Hasbro double dip on the mold.

I'm in for this just for the fact that the Jabba in my Throne Room diorama is the melty one.

I expect to see the 8-D8 on a card sometime soon, it would be one of the original 96.

I have been expecting a Jabba the Hutt release for this year.  Hasbro finally delivered on marking an anniversary in The Vintage Collection with ROTJ40.  But naturally Jabba comes the year after, LOL!  And I think it was pretty obvious that Hasbro would eventually offer up a new Jabba that could be placed in the "Boba Fett's Throne Room".  Prior to the Jabba that was packed with the Sail Barge, the most recent version was released 10 years ago, and it was in a multipack that cost over $100.

So far I think it looks good.  I would absolutely like to see more.  8-D8 is a big draw here since the last version of that droid was released in the 1990's.  But the questions surrounding 8-D8 and Salacious Crumb is HOW will they be presented?  The SDCC exclusive Death Star package with the Revenge Of The Jedi figures that included the mini-carded Salacious Crumb has been the focus of many collectors who missed out on that set.  The Mouse Droid and Salacious Crumb each command a small fortune on the secondary market.

As for 8-D8?  Well, it's a Finish the 96 droid.  So would it be carded or loose in this set?  Either way, I fully expect a double or triple dip here.  A single carded release seems likely at some point, although some at Hasbro might have data about the POTF2 figure pegwarming in the late 90's into the early 2000's.  But I'm very prepared for the inevitable TBOBF version, or some kind of "World Building" release that incorporates the torture rig from ROTJ or the holographic map from TBOBF.

Looks cool.  I have four Jabba's.  I'll probably pre-order one anyway, since it has new figures and is different than older versions.

I just realized that this is Hasbro and that 8-D8 is going to be carded within the box.

I just realized that this is Hasbro nd that 8-D8 is going to be carded within the box.

We could still end up with a ROTJ carded version in the set, and then a single release on a TBOBF card (or the aforementioned deluxe 8-D8 version with).

He'll definitely be available later... that's Hasbro's whole thing.

My cynical prediction is that after this set has come and gone, he'll be available in a deluxe box with the torture rack, Target exclusive... $27.

Not only are you right about the Deluxe figure Rob, but it wouldn't shock me that when Hasbro talks about this at SDCC, they will probably say this will be the only way to get the carded 8-D8, then a year later drop the carded version in the main line.  (Remember the Soft goods Mando was only going to be available in the Razor Crest?)

I think you're partially right, Rob.  The price will probably be $31 be that point.

Make sure you order the $90 TVC set and not the $90 Black Series set. ;)

I waffled back and forth, but went ahead and pre-ordered this set last night.

I ordered two of the Jabba Throne Room sets, so I really have no use for yet another dais and more of the same rugs and pillows.  I have so many Crumb and Jabba figures.  Why did I buy this? I guess I just spent $90 to get a new 8D8 figure... that will probably get double-dipped into the basic figure line on a TBOBF cardback anyway.

I am dumb, basically, is what I'm saying.   ::)

Oh well, I have a year to change my mind and cancel I guess.

I'm still waffling, and will probably do the opposite where I wait a year to order this if I think I really need to add a new $90 8D8 figure to my collection.

Nope, I do too. The most recent version I have is the 2004 Saga Ultra version. I had missed both the Black Series TRU set & the Khetanna.

Like Jeff, I’m dumb and ordered two sets… I also figured since this won’t be out for almost a year and a half that I can always just cancel one of them between now & then if Hasbro announces any single carded versions of 8-D8, or other sets with Salacious (not that I really need a new Salacious.)

All this and there's another Jabba in the Sail Barge.  I feel perfectly set on Jabba's, but will continue to collect 'em all until I quit entirely!

Right now in my main Jabba's Palace shelf set-up, I'm using the 2010 Walmart dais and Crumb plus the 2004 Saga Ultra Jabba. I stopped displaying the 2010 Walmart Jabba when all the "my Jabba got melty/sticky" stories started going around.

This set will make a nice upgrade... but I don't really 'need' an upgrade because I'm happy with what I have.  Like I said though, I am dumb and apparently have money to waste on an upgrade I don't really need.  :P

I'm happy to see this Jabba come out (somewhat) on it's own.  The 3.75" Black Series version came out 10 years ago, and the Sail barge version was locked behind a $500 pay wall.  And when I get around to finally displaying my Sail barge, I want that Jabba to stick with the Sail Barge.

I'm in the midst of a significant re-organization of my collection.  And I've got a bin of Jabba's at the moment - the POTF2 ANH bonus scene version, the Episode 1 Jabba glob, the SAGA release, the SOTDS version, and the Kenner Jabba.  It'll be good to retire some of these or at least use them in a scene specific way.

I ordered it. The Crumb and 8D8 are two big wants, and Crumb looks like a whole new sculpt so I'm pretty excited about that. The hookah and bowl is a nice upgrade, and I plan to swap out the one I have in my display with this new one. The Jabba looks to have very upgraded paint apps, so I might swap him into the barge if he's better than that one. And the small accessories are always welcome.

Yes, Hasbro confirmed in their youtube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXZ_oUhU43U) that Crumb was an all-new sculpt.

This kind of bugs me when they take their resources and redo something that we already have that is good enough instead of giving us something truly new.  The did an all new sculpt of the Endor Bunker that really was only marginally better than the old one, and Crumb is the same thing.

How about you use those sculpting resources on some all new figures for Andor, BoBF, or Mandalorian?

Putting my throne room onto the shelf between other stuff and I guess what i'm going to do is put the entire Dias down in the BOBF stuff, and leave the slot open for this set to arrive in the fall sometime??  Looks like (and knowing Hasbro) the Dias is the same and will slide under the base of the Throne Room no problem, but it also has the part with his hookah, which the playset doesn't so it feels like a better spot for it.

That makes sense right?!

Are any of you thinking about splitting it up that way?

Are any of you thinking about splitting it up that way?

Yeah, that is my plan -

My new plan is to display this the way Hasbro did at SDCC this past year (https://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=25363.msg633471#msg633471) - use the bulk of the playset with the 2024 Jabba/dais for a ROTJ set-up and then pull the included dais/throne out for a separate "Boba murders Bib Fatuna" scene.

You can see in the Hasbro SDCC pic I have linked there that the dais in this Jabba set is the same sculpt as the Throne Room playset dais, but it is a better color-match to the playset.  Really feel like they did that on purpose, but what do I know.

So yeah.  Right there with you on the plan.  I was thinking about using the 2010 Walmart Jabba/dais in the playset until the new one is ready but I've heard the old 2010 version is too big for the playset.  (Again, pretty sure that is on purpose to help guide you to buying this $90 Jabba set. ;))

Nice.  I guess I wasn’t paying that level of attention to all this until now that I’m looking at the real thing and working it into these shelves.

Regarding the Dias… Yep, I can confirm that.  The Walmart Dias is too tall to slide under the base of the new set.

What a weird series of decisions this whole thing has been on Hasbro’s end.

Was just wondering where this one was because it said coming in fall, and I had to go back and re-read to recall that it's fall of 2024.  Absurd.  I've got this big empty hole where it belongs on the shelf that I guess I'll have to stare at for the next 9 or 10 months.
