Title: Iron Man 3 Toys

Look at this trash in the 3 3/4 line.

Well in the same year i am done with Star Wars and Marvel...not to mention DC.

I saw those today as well.  From what I've read about them, it is some sort of interchangeable line where you can mix and match parts or something like that.  From those pics, it appears they are quite underarticulated and don't look all that great.  Like you said, trash.  Oh well, it makes it easier to save money though, and I hope that they come out with at least a few in "Legends" form like the Avengers and Spidey lines at WM this year.  I know there is supposed to be an Iron Man Legends type line of 6" figures, but I'm not sure of the details (comic or movie based - or both, store exclusive or retail wide?).  These figures though...eek.

Looks like this line may be loaded with potential disappointments.  :(

Not a good way to go, since IM3 will be the first Marvel movie following on the box office success of Avengers

I just remember hearing classic comic Iron Monger BAF.

That... that HAS to be some sort of Happy Meal toy right? Or something in the Deluxe line that comes with a glider? *crosses fingers*

I saw an electronic Iron Man Mk 42 from the Iron Man 3 line at a TRU store a few days back.  The new armor look is cool, but this figure was about 18 - 20" tall, and not representative of what we're likely to see from the 3.75" figure system.

I saw a similar Iron Patriot at Target, which spokes phrases...including "I'm here to back you up, Iron Man"

Wait, I thought he was the villain!

Based on this AFI gallery from Toy Fair (http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/gallery2/album/TF2013-Iron-Man-3/), the 6" Iron Man 3 line is looking a good deal better than the 3.75" figure line.

I saw most of this stuff at Target the other day. All terrible. They did have one of the 6 inch figs though, and agreed, it's the only thing worth buying from the line.

I like about half of the 6" figures, but may be swayed to get them all in order to get that Iron Monger.  Surprised he isn't a tad larger though.

Saw these all today for the first time at Walmart. Ugh. Boggles my mind they can crank this stuff out but can't spare any resources for the Clone Wars.

I saw the ASSemblers today at TRU - I have ZERO interest in getting these. If they had made figures that were of the same quality as the Iron Man 2 line, I'd gladly grab Iron Patriot and a new Iron Man. The best part about those Iron Man 2 figures was the level of articulation they crammed into them. These look like Happy Meal toys to me.

I have been getting select figures from the Marvel movies as they come out from Hasbro, kinda glad that it looks like I won't be continuing that trend.

I saw the Assemblers line at Walmart last night. Not impressed.  I can see what they're going for, but for the price I dont' think it's worth it.  I don't want to spend $10 on more than one figure so I can mix and match pieces...will parents want to splash out that much cash also?

I bought a couple IM2 figures but I don't see buying anything from this line.  I'm just waiting for my Hot Toys 1:6 Mark VII to come in...that may be the last IM figure I have to buy.

Wait, I thought he was the villain!

He is.  Was.  In Dark Avengers Earth-616.  But in movieverse and Ultimate Universe right now he is good.  Iron Patriot is Norman, Rhodes, Stark respectively.

As far as I'm concerned Earth-616 Iron Patriot is the one to measure all others against.  He was the best.  Psychopath that he was.

I actually wish they had done something akin to the Assemblers idea for the Clone Wars line somewhere along the way. So instead of 18 crappy figures last year we could have made 36 or something. Clone and droids seem like good candidates for part swapping.

Saw the full lineup at Target over lunch.  The Iron Man 6" figures all looked great, but the case only contains the first 3 figures, so you can't build Iron Monger until series 2 ships out.  Lame.  The figs look great, but the paint jobs were a little sloppy.

I think the Assemblers look cool.  I'll grab Rhodey at least once these go on sale.

I bought the 3 IM3 Legends figures at Target today.  Checked TRU, 2 Walmarts and 2 Targets and only 1 store had IM3 out after the street date.

The Legends figures are good.  The Iron Monger parts are nice.  All of the 3.75" figures SUCK epic proportions.  Really horrible.  I won't be buying any of those.  One line is the Assemblers, the articulation sucks.  And you're able to swap body parts across figures which makes no sense and is stupid.  And the other 3.75" figures are the $5.88 price point which are 1980's Kenner articulation with really nothing cool anyhow.  It's just junk.  Real hardcore junk.

At least the Legends are pretty good.

Saw the 6" Iron Patriot today.  It looked alright.  But this back and forth with Hasbro and Iron Man on which scale they actually give a crap about is troubling.  The first Iron Man movie line was about 6" figures.  And then the Iron Man 2 line focused largely on 3.75" figures but added on some 6" figures as exclusives.  Now with Iron Man 3, it seems that the better offerings are in the 6" scale.  From a collector standpoint, this is really becoming annoying.

Found the first series of 6" Legends figs today at Walmart and thought they mostly looked pretty good.  I can't believe that they split Iron Monger into 6 pieces and 2 waves, one of which is listed for Fall on the packaging.  Great way to guarantee you'll be able to build your Monger figure you just invested $45 in...

So far I've only found Iron Patriot and Heroic age IM after 2 TRU, 2 Targets and 1 WM. I'm hoping since I work for Target I won't have too much trouble finding the final piece.

Finally saw some of the Iron Man 3 Assemblers at retail.  Meh.  They're pretty underwhelming.  But they're also the result of a directive from Hasbro corporate to cut costs and offer figures that will give Hasbro and retailers the biggest bang for the buck.

Man, after seeing that most recent IM3 trailer, I really wish we were getting a more proper line of figures for this year.  So many armor possiblities, they wouldn't even have to make things up like they have with past lines.  On a side note, I still haven't seen the Assemblers at retail around here.  All the stores have reset with IM3 stuff, but those just haven't been stocked yet for some reason.  I sort of doubt I'd buy any (maybe just the primary Mark 42 armor or something), but I haven't seen them.  I am glad that they've brought out a Legends line specifically for Iron Man (and later, Wolverine) and sort of hope we continue to see that with other movie lines (especially with a mix of comic/movie characters).

I just wish they released all of the Legends figures at once.  I don't understand using the BAF concept, then only offering half the figures needed to build Iron Monger.  I guess I'll just have half a Monger sitting around for months on end?   >:(

Just looking at some of the various armors in the final sequence of this new trailer, I get the sense that some of the concept armor designs that yielded figures for the Iron Man 2 line might be represented.

I have to agree, as stoked as I am for the new IM3 movie, I'm totally disappointed that the toy  line has been reduced to 5 points of articulation and very crappy looking on top of that. I can understand cutting costs - so how about NOT producing 500 million of the same figure that will sit on store pegs until the NEXT movie comes out 2/3 years later? They've done the same with last years' Dark Knight Rises figures - limited articulation and five flavors of batman outfits using the same mold, But at least they have cloth capes. Then only a very badly done Bane figure, no Gordon, no JGL figure or Selina/Catwoman or Alfred. oh well...

I agree as well. Would it have killed them to release a small set of collector-oriented figures that were in keeping with the Iron Man 2 toy line? I would have GLADLY picked up the Iron Man 3 version of Iron Man, Iron Patriot (repaint of War Machine), a Mandarin (played by Ghandi) and any other nicely articulated/sculpted figure put out for this line.

I keep seeing the "Assemblers" Iron Man Mark 42 and Iron Patriot in stores and I just can't justify paying $10 each for two 5POA figures with spare arms - I just can't.

Why can't they just make the line limited? Why do they thing that the skittles Iron Man figures are going to sell? From what I can tell, these things aren't moving at all, maybe things will pick up when the movie hits in two weeks, but for right now, this is yet another DOA movie-based action figure line.

Since Marvel Select has opted to not do a Mandarin, I am hoping that Hasbro gives a movie version even if it is a Walmart exclusive like the rest of the 6 inch movie figures.

I bought the Assembler series Iron Man Mk 42 and Iron Patriot a few weeks back.  Target was running a sale, and they were $7 each.  At that price I could justify the purchase.  But the other armors in that series?  Eh.  And the very basic carded figures?  OMG.  I wouldn't touch those things with a 10 foot pole!

I understand that the mantra from Hasbro corporate has been "CUT COSTS, CUT COSTS, CUT COSTS".  But the Hasbro execs also need to take a long, hard look at HOW they offered that Iron Man 2 toy line, and the miscalculations that came along with that strategy.  Because this approach to Iron Man 3 looks like an overreaction to the Iron Man 2 line, and not an adjustment.  If Hasbro approached Iron Man 3 conservatively, the way they did with the Avengers line, I think they could be pretty successful.

Yeah, I was skeptical of the Avengers line at the beginning but they shipped just enough figures, and as a result we got more and more shipments. I saw EVERY FIGURE from that line on the pegs, and multiples too. I don't think I can say that for any other Hasbro Marvel line.

It looks like a new wave of IM3 Assemblers is making the rounds.  And some of the armors look like those from the end sequence of IM3.  And I also saw a TRU exclusive 2-pack today that includes a couple of suits of armor that are also in that end sequence.
