Title: Ephant Mon
Post by: TheBlackDog65 on May 22, 2004, 01:17 AM
Ephant Mon is showing up at TRU's in Utah in repacked Saga Wave 9 cases from last year. He was at two local TRU's today.
Also, locally, our Family Dollar stores have Saga figures going for $2. I found several Ephant's there for that price. Not mint, but in good condition.

is he showing up on the "new" 2004 gold cards or the older cards he was first packed on?

I'd posted a news blurb here at JediDefender.com not too long ago alerting the public that he'd made a mass resurgence here in Pittsburgh.

Every TRU I hit save for one (which I didn't hear a report on from anyone so he may have showed there as well) saw reshipments of him.

It was likely old warehouse stock I'm betting, but he did show again in decent enough #'s that I know a few guys in my area who missed him got one.

He's shipping in his original case assortment Dave, so he's on his original card.  Again I think this is old stock, not technically "new shipments" from Hasbro.  A lot of stores seem to be getting some old things in, and it is inventorying time of year.

Yes, old card and these are reshipments.  Looks like TRU or Hasbro or both are clearing out old inventory.

Some older 2002 stock was at the local TRU last week...didn't think much of it until Jesse's report last week

#1 I'm wondering if they picked up some of the KB scraps when KB declared bankruptcy

#2 How much of this damn stuff did they make (AGAIN)!!!!

Yeah, it makes you wonder....  I'm really hoping for some cleared pegs soon.  I haven't been to stores for a while (mostly cuz of rising gas prices).  When I do go I fear I'm going to see the same old stock I saw last time I was out though, and all those damned Jedi and Youngling repacks that plagued EVERY Wal-Mart in my area.

I don't know which is worse.  The Jedi/Younglings or late 2002/early 2003 stock that's now lying about the TRU stores here.

My TRU's have tons of Aayla, Barris, Padawans, Yodas, Imp Dig, wave of figures. It would be nice to see Ephant Mon again or some other figs besides the ones listed. TRU was getting in the newer stuff them BAM back to the old.  :(

After selling off my modern collection about a year ago I decided to collect certain pieces only, this being one.

Two weeks ago I found one at a TRU.  Then today my wife saw two more at another local TRU.

Tritto.  I could use a decent carded version.  I had four at one point, but ended up selling them to local guys that needed them.  Fool.

Brent,

I owe you so give me some time to take a pictue of an extra that I have and let me know if it is the condition you are hoping for.  If it is, just send me a few bucks for postage and it's yours.

I have never seen a perfect carded version of this figure.
Either hang tab damage because it was so heavy or damage to the bubble or card because it was so large and Hasbro packed with so much care in the case.

Sounds like these are hitting more and more KBs as we speak...  Who all is still looking for an Ephant Mon?  Anybody not even have one yet?

I find it amusing that Hasbro said at Comic Con that they lost their ass on this particular figure, yet they're now showing up en masse in KBs bargain bins...  What gives?!

This is why they lost their ass on Ephant Mon. Because of the glut of Saga stuff at the time, the cases with Ephant Mon typically sat at warehouses for months if not years and in low quantities. So Hasbro probably didn't sell as much Mon's as they did any of the previously released Saga figures from 2002, Episode 2 notwithstanding. Add the extra production costs into Ephant Mon, more plastic for the bulky figure and huge bubble, different cardboard boxes for the cases and it probably added up. Poor execution and timing on Hasbro's part in bringing the 3rd Fan Choice figure to retail. Hopefully though with Ephant Mon showing up at KB in droves (on clearance as well?), perhaps down the road we will see the same of the McQuarrie Stormtrooper so those of us who didn't get their mittens on the 4th Fan Choice figure will have a chance.
