Flying To Arizona
« on: January 24, 2005, 11:10 PM »
Well, this Canuck is headed to the wonder that is the U S of A.  My wife and daughter and I are headed to Yuma to visit my in-laws and get some sun.  Any advice for this unworldly Canadian?  Anyone been to Yuma and know of an attraction that I shouldn't miss?  Anyone know how many Wal-Marts and Targets are in Yuma?   ;)

I was just out in Arizona 3 weeks ago Jesse.  Nice place, and definitely a bit warmer than your neck of the woods...   ;)

My parents live in Scottsdale though (near Phoenix), so I'm not too familiar with Yuma really.  One of our members, DaBigKahuna, recently moved out there - maybe you should drop him a line and see if he's got any good tips or sites to see for ya'.

Just hop onto Google and figure out what the zip code is for Yuma, then hop onto Walmart.com, Target.com, etc. and do a search for stores in the area.  I'm sure there'd be a few.

I think 'Scum has a huge, very active, Arizona finds thread as well - so you might want to check in with those guys as well.  Bummer it's not a little closer, or I'd try to come by and pay you a visit.  But as it is, I'm about 7 hours away...

Have fun!  You ever been to the States before?

I haven't been to the US for years.  I was down into Montana with my family back in highschool (hmmm... 13 years ago?) to go skiing - beautiful countryside!

Thanks for the idea of the Arizona finds thread on Rebelscum - I'll check it out.

Can you believe that it cost over $200 for the 3 of us (me, wife, 3 yr old daughter) to get our passports?  They've skyrocketed the last few years with all of the security precautions that are involved these days.  We figured it would be a lot easier dealing with customs officers if we had our passports, and we might even try to drop across the Mexican border - I've definitely never been there!

Yeah... San Diego, 2-1/2 hours away.  :-*

Just kidding, folks. No nasty pm, please.

Seriously, if you're there around March 20th, are into baseball, or wonder why some of us Yanks take pleasure in this game, there'll be a spring training game between the SD Padres and Az Diamondbacks at Desert Sun Stadium.
