Joe Defender / Re: GI Joe - The Black Series?
« on: October 22, 2014, 09:02 PM »
I don't necessarily trust the Hisstank rumor for a couple of reasons, but GI Joe 6" seems inevitable at this point with the resurrection of Marvel Legends and popularity of Star Wars Black Series. I'd be interested if the figures have a modern appearance like the Pursuit of Cobra or Sideshow lines. If it ends up being 6" scale classic updates (like 25th Anniversary, only bigger) then I will stay away. IMO it would be a shame to waste the extra detailing that 6" would allow for on outdated 80's looks.

Sounds like that mom needs some toys of her own

...dolls of Skyler and Marie?  :P

Still, what kid would be interested in a hazmat guy and he wouldn't know about the meth bit in relation to the show unless his parents allow him to watch it.  I still laugh that the Mom in question professes to love the show, too.

That's one of the worst parts about this whole thing... nothing on the package advertises the meth/drug connection, so the only way a kid would know what the character is about is if they were watching the show... what has happened to common sense?

When I saw the report on the news that someone was protesting over "Breaking Bad" action figures being on the pegs at TRU I just had to shake my head.  Because the moral outrage police are at it once again.

I get it that they (concerned parents) may have objections to figures from "Breaking Bad" because Walter White was a meth dealer / gangster.  I think we can universally agree that drug dealers are bad.  But the packages are clearly labeled with the appropriate age recommendations.  So what happens if TRU actually DOES pull Breaking Bad figures?  Where will the line be drawn next?  I'm worried about the slippery slope that would follow if TRU relents here.

Well the Breaking Bad figures are gone from TRU.com, and my local store didn't have any on the pegs this morning (I actually wanted to check if "meth" was mentioned on the package... I know the accessory is hidden behind the insert). It would appear that "they" have already won. I agree 100% that this is a slippery slope, and it's scary how quickly this spread thanks to social media and mis-informed sensationalized "news" stories.

Hopefully TRU takes this opportunity to re-evaluate placement of the "adult toys". I think placement near the electronics section (where I can grab a copy of GTA or Evil Within... go figure) may be more appropriate and would hopefully minimize the chance of something like this happening again down the road.

I think it would have been cooler if Bob had been bitten and those dbags had eaten his infected leg. (Yes, I know everyone's infected but something about being bitten seems to hasten the process)

I also think Gareth is full of crap about it not being personal. There were plenty of dead people back in Terminus they could have eaten. Like his Mom.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bob ends up revealing a bite or scratch in the next episode... it would explain why he left the church to go off alone. Plus it seems like the producers love to have an ambiguous setup leading to a "surprising reveal" later on, like the guy Tyreese "killed" at the cabin showing up at the campfire Bob-B-Q.

I somewhat disagree about the whole "nothing personal" bit. After the systematic slaughter of those four guys at Terminus and the casual attitude of the Termites, I can believe that they have become totally "shut off" and view other humans solely as food. That makes Gareth and the others much scarier, as they have pretty much become living versions of the zombies... focused solely on food and unable to be reasoned with. Though I will say I think Gareth is taking pleasure in hunting Rick's group after what happened at Terminus.

Is it me or did it seem like Bob and Gareth had a history, beyond what recently happened at Terminus?

I didn't really get that vibe, but it is an interesting idea. My thinking is just that Bob had talked/pleaded with Gareth while his group was captured and in the train car prior to Rick's arrival. It could be interesting though if it ends up being revealed that Bob had passed thru when Terminus was a real sanctuary, or if he was a resident who had escaped when that hostile gang invaded.

The Black Series 3.75" / Re: The Black Series 3.75" - Wave 4

I got five Snowtrooper Commander figures in the mail from Amazon today. It was funny getting them on the estimated shipping date (7/31). I only opened one so far, but I really like it! No quality issues that I could see and relatively clean paint apps on all five. The figure itself is really nice and very well-sculpted. It looks great "leading" the VTAC Snowtroopers.

Stay tuned for more details at Toy Fair 2015!  ;D

I got my set today too! I love the window packaging. I am a loose collector, but this set is staying MIB for the time being as a "centerpiece" for my PR shelf.

Glad to have this though, I basically decided last night that I am only going to focus on the TV figures going forward, so this seems like a nice unspoken validation of that choice. (Collector logic)

No more comic figures? Whhaaaaa? Hopefully you'll quit them after Wave 3 at least. Those figures look spectacular!

As for my recent TWD purchase, I got the SDCC figure... from 2012! I snagged the bloody Michonne with Cloak in a damaged package on eBay for a measly $15. The bubble was crushed and falling off the card, so it was perfect for me as a loose collector. I didn't want to pay the going rates for it as it wasn't "different enough", but for $15 it was a solid purchase. The cloak is a great accessory!

I should have the new Shane figure coming in the mail next week. I can't say I'm terribly excited to add it to the collection, but it's another "different enough" figure that will fit right in.

The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: 6" Black Series Deluxe Line
« on: July 30, 2014, 06:10 PM »
I spotted the 6" Jabba at Target this afternoon, but the Biker Scout sets were gone. I wasn't too impressed with Jabba. This is definitely an instance where I am torn on the whole 6" scale due to both price and detail. IMO the 2010 Jabba looks just as good as the 6" version, plus it had the throne, railing, a figure, and other bits for $5 less. I am still planning to pick up the Scout set, and I look forward to seeing how it stacks up against the 4" TRU exclusive version.

I miss the Insight book that used to be available... actually, I seriously regret not picking up a copy.
