Packaged photos of the new Commander Fox...Despite the presumed lack or articulation, he's not too bad, IMHO.

I'm a little disappointed, since I was hoping that Fox would be a repaint of Cody, not Rex.  That way, we could have another SA clone for the collection.  Also, they messed up the paint on the chin of his helmet: there should be a white patch there.

(Sorry to be negative.)

I've only seen one figure from wave 2: Obi-Wan.  And that was back in early May.  I bought him, but I can't say that I like him substantially more than the 2011 version.  Boo-hoo.  Besides that one find, there is no sign of anything passed wave 1 in my area.

So technically since Fox hasn't been around since S3, this will be a S5-type preview figure?

If I am not mistaken, Fox was seen during season 4, during the Rako Hardeen story-arc.

Hopefully, the Fox figure will just be a repaint of this year's Cody.

I guess I feel that way since I prefer realisitc over animated...

I have the comic pack version, and I think that I prefer this newer one....just because it more closely resembles the character's appearance on the show.  I am also pleased to see that this new Maul has quite a bit of articulation.  And I am not bummed about the wonky lightsaber thingy, since I have plenty of older sabers that I can use with this figure.  And the only thing I am looking forward to with regard to the Nightsister figure is that badass lightsaber that she comes with.

thanks for the heads up on the pics - Maul does look bad.

Really?  I think that Maul looks sweet as hell, and I am getting this Battle Pack just to get him (I already have that Savage figure - with a lightsaber, too).

I'm quite surprised to see this "Talzin" appear in the sub-line, since Hasbro has stated on several occasions that they do not like to make female antagonists.  And, like someone already said, this is close enough to Talzin to just piss off some fans of the character.  I, for one, would have preferred for Hasbro to make her look exactly as she appeared on the show.  But since I never cared for this character anyway, I'm not sweating it too much.  Also, I was able to get armored Savage at Target back in November, so I will be getting this pack only for the Maul figure.  And if Maul happens to be released on a basic card later in the year, I will feel as though I wasted my money on this set.

So, this Battle Pack is a mixed bag for me.

The Vintage Collection / Re: Recent Vintage Collection Purchases

Still no DS wave here...  :(  Seen remnants 2 times, and a full case once.  That's it since they first shipped.

I've only seen the DS wave one time, at Walmart.  The store had each figure x2, and I was able to pick up one set.  But I traded away the Lando and Mon Cal, thinking that I would be able to find those guys again at retail.  No such luck here in the Dallas area.  Still looking....

The Vintage Collection / Re: The Future of Star Wars Collecting?

I'm just not as into things as I was.  I like it, I'm here if it's here, but yeah, I just don't care.

I can relate to this, since I have been feeling something similar lately.  For the most part, I have been apathetic about The Vintage Collection, with its emphasis on resculpts, resculpts, and a few more resculpts.  Granted, I am pleased to get figures of those characters that have never been made before, and I am pleased to get definitive updates to some older figures, but my fire for collecting them has simmered quite a bit because of all of the resculpts.  It's like my collecting zeal has slipped into neutral.  I still go to the store to get each wave, but I'm not getting out of bed at 6:00AM anymore to look for them.  Know what I mean?  For the past year and a half, my passion for collecting Star Wars toys has been driven primarily by the The Clone Wars line.  But now that that line has been relegated to the basement of priorities, with very little to offer, and very little to get excited about in terms of articulation and sculpting, I am left with little to get pumped about.  The show keeps getting better and better, but the figures have all but disappeared.  Sigh.  I think it was Pawlus (?) who said it succintly: there is nothing currently hanging on the pegs which corresponds to what is going on with the show right now, and that is a problem.

So, would I like to see Star Wars go on hiatus?  Hell NO!  I want to go back to 60 figures a year for each line, with new characters galore.  But I know that that is not realistic, given the current situation.  So, I am just waiting (im)patiently for news about General Krell, and collecting Fighter Pods.  Wake me up when y'all hear something about that badass Besalisk.   :P

When did they get Wave 2 over there?

Here I am being an alarmist, but I hope that we don't see a quick "jump-over" of the second wave in favor of the third.  Something similar to this happened to TVC's AOTC wave back in 2010.

Where are they slotting the new Fox, Maul, etc? Is this part of an unannounced fourth wave coming later this Fall?

That's been my assumption, since the first three waves have already been announced - yet they do not account for all 19 basic figures slated for 2012.  And, of course, where in the world is General Krell?  Will we have to wait until 2013 to buy him?

See I thought someone somewhere said he was underarticulated?

Glad to see that's not true at all. :)

I hope to get 2 or 3 of these at some point.

I agree.  In a time when we are seeing less and less articulation, this figure is a breath of fresh air.  He has articulation at the ankles, knees, hips, shoulders, elbows, wrists and neck.  I can't remember if he is also articulated at the waist.  He truly is a gem in the 2012 line-up.

Doing things on the fly here isn't easy. ;)

No worries. I was just giving you a hard time. I was excited to see my store report hit the front page, for sure!

Anyway, I opened the Scuba Clone Trooper tonight; and this has got to be one of the coolest figures in the line. He's loaded with articulation, and he just looks badass. He may be one of my favorite figures in the line.  Here's a picture for the main page, Jesse:

Wow, I did not realize until this post that you are in fact RegJr over at RS. We are getting a lot of the same crew posting now in both forums, that's cool.

Great score!

Ah, busted!!!     ;)

I was thrilled to find that set this morning.  I can't wait to tear into it tonight.

I was able to get the Scuba Clone mini-rig this morning at Walmart.  They also had the Anakin mini-rig, but I passed on that one for now.
