No explanation needed, just "Damn! I want one!"
-
Medicom are on to it. What an awesome piece of art.
-
Oh that looks so cool!! Looks like Medicom isnt done with their SW license. Do you know how big that Fett is going to be?? Imagine if they're the same size with the Kubricks.
Will you be able to get some of these in from the Collectors' Club to sell, Simon? I'll definitely buy one off you, so please-please-please put me on the list if you are ;)

I'll be definitely be putting my name in the hat a couple of times. But I couldn't come up with any R2's last time, so, again unfortunately, I can't make any promises to anybody for this one. I'll try and get to the event and maybe pick up one.
-
OK, that's just too sweet. Messa want one! 8)
Good luck with trying to score some Simon. Fingers crossed & toes. ;)
-
That's cool Simon. Have a great time at the convention if you're going there though! Looking forward to hear more about it. I wonder what else Medicom might have in store that day....... SW Kubrick Series 3?? :o ;D
-
Medicom has updated their site the last 4 months on the 24th, Hopefully tomorrow/tonight they announce SW Series 3 ;)
-
Well..just checked the site and they updated, still no sign of Skywalker or Solo (meaning still no sign of Series 3 :'() Check back next month

oh man, i need one of those fetts... that is just too cool
-
(http://www.brianstoys.com/acatalog/POTJ_PalmTalker_BobaFettBoxed.jpg)
Reminds me of this
-
That is not really my thing, but i hope that they will have info on series 3.
-
Just the fact that its Boba allready sold me in! ;D I think it looks really good actually. I'd like to see Medicom start a new SW line with this concept, especially if they're the same size as Kubricks. I mean, the majority of SW collectors (and many still) didnt take Kubrick/chibi/SD style as their thing as well at first, but it grew on them over time. This one probably will do the same.
-
Arrived at the event and it was pelting down rain. Thank god the World Character Convention is in the biggest exhibition hall in Japan so there will be plenty of room to wait, in-line, out of the rain. Wrong! 2000 punters are lined up outside the door in the rain. Nice planning Mr WCC Manager Man!!
I wait patiently in line behind about 1000, half-drenched people. Thats cool. Only 500 Bobas. I'm sure at least half of these guys will only be able to get their one limited Godzilla or Bearbrick or whatever!
The sneakers are just about soaked by opening time. 10.30am! Alright! Lets go!
10.32am. The line still hasn't moved.
10.35am. Still nothing! OK getting anxious now!
10.37am! A door at the back of the line near me opens! A Boba Collector! Lucky man! He's also a Godzilla, Gundam, and Bearbrick collector too!?!?! Followed by his 2 kids under the age of 5 who happen also to be avid Toy Collectors. His wife is also behind. Oh my god. A whole family of Boba etc. collectors! But wait there's more. Gandma and Grandpa that are waddling behing mum are also Boba Collectors. And then cousin Junko comes out..........well you get the picture.
I do a quick head count of men in line who were able the have children, mutiplied that by the average size of the Japanese extended family, divided it by pi and came out with a total of 326,433 people possibly waiting in line or in the wings, for Bobas.
I toss a coin and it tells me I have better chance of winning the on the 4th race at Flemington next week, so I head in for the scoop on the new Kubrick line.
Disappoint number 2!! The Medicom booth was a bit of a let down unfortunately!
But not all is said fellow toy lovers! However, I did score as an entry freebie....get this....an exclusive, WCC18, Medicom Japan in association with Tomy, limited edition Yelllow, Kubrick Daraemon....and this is the clincher....get this.... WITH EARS!!!!
For all you who have no idea what I'm talking about, you don't need to. Basically, I'm going to take this little, cute, yellow poor excuse for a collectible and and put it on the tracks of a highly used, bullet train route.
Sorry just a bit disappointed over not getting a Boba. Here's a couple of pics of it on Slave 1 though.
Boba Pics (http://www.slave1.jp/)
To Yahoo Japan I go!!
-
Damn that sucks Simon...I read similar stories about Cons and exclusives and shake my head...its not fair to everyone else in line to bring your family of 20 so you can scalp toys and make a little $ :'(

Very cool :D
-
Love that window on there...how many hours did you wait in line boba_jp?
-
Hey Simon, before you go and destroy the Doraemon Kubrick I would definitely buy it from you if you have no plans of keeping it. ;) Sorry that you didn't get a Boba. :'( I fear these might go for more than carded Fett Kubrick's eventually.
-
Ah bad luck mate, sorry to hear about that. It angers me too to hear people can be so greedy and inconsiderate, especially when they very well know the high demand and limited number of this toy. Hope you at least had some fun yesterday though and maybe you still can score a Fett over the collector's club. Best of luck!
-
Love that window on there...how many hours did you wait in line boba_jp?
That's not mine :'( :'( :'(
-
Hope you at least had some fun yesterday though
Actually, there was one good story from the day. I meet this guy from the States who flew out just to get the Boba and missed out. I think he ended up buying one from a dealer for $125.00, but he seemed happy as Larry!! I guess that's what collectiing is all about. He was due to fly home the following day. Not that's one expensive Fett, if you include airfares, hotels etc.
-
Sorry you could't get one Simon. :'(
There popping up on eBay now with openers of $99. & Bin's of around $160. - $180. :-\
There also on Yahoo auctions but I'm not getting anywhere with the translator! Some do ship Internationally.
2 of them showed up from, well guess who? Andy! Not a snowball chance in hell he'll get my business again! >:(
-
PErhaps Andy has learned has lesson and has the merchandise in hand... :-X
wai I was hoping boba_jp was reading this to let us know how he got one 8)
-
PErhaps Andy has learned has lesson and has the merchandise in hand... :-X
LOL. Hate to see him loose sleep again if its not inhand! ::) ;D

Hell, I'm tempted to buy one of his just on principal alone. I'm sure he dislikes us every bit as much as we do him right now. Can you imagine the shock and horror on his end if one of our usernames came up again in his auction :o ;D

thanks for the pics!
i'm getting it..
loved the first one..
-
He looks cool, I never got the first one maybe down the road.
-
Pass :)
-
I will pass too on the vinyl Fett. I don't have the first one and it's just one moer thing to collect. :-\
I'll save my money for the Series 4 chase figures... ;)
-
Anyone sick of Boba Fetts yet? Someone's got an obsession over there.
-
Anyone sick of Boba Fetts yet? Someone's got an obsession over there.
Well, he is the cult fan favorite. I myself sure wish there were less of him though.
-
I would think they would be Vader crazy instead, Boba has sort of lost his mystique methinks especially after Episode II
-
I'll pass on this one. I didnt get the first one, just not really into it, so again no need for this one. I'd rather save up for series 4 and work on the 400% Boba Fett
-
Yeah this Boba thing is getting a bit much. One of the reasons that they are doing so much of him this that one of the companies that is producing him in collaboration with him is Bounty X Hunter, but if that were the reason, there are at least 5 other great bounty hunters they could have done. I reckon a set on the 6 ESB bounty hunters in the VCD style would look completely awesome.
Mods. Do you want to seperate these posts from the Kubrick ones? VCD is a different line from the Kubricks. It could probably go with this one:
Medicom Vinyl Fett (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=4443.0)

Done ;)
-
(http://www.slave1.jp/image/VCD-Vader.jpg)
Parco exclusive June 30 through July 4...sounds like the same promo as the first Boba
-
Impressive!
This is going to cost on the secondary market. :-\
-
Gee I hope that it's also going to be available in large numbers at Parco. If it's going to be small like the last 2 carded Kubricks released there, it's going to be damn expensive.
-

Hopefully it'll replace the carded Kubricks, so I don't have to worry about getting even further behind on those damned things! ;)
Cool looking Vader though, which would make a nice companion piece to the earlier "deformed" Fett that they issued. An impressive Removable Helmet touch by Medicom, though not surprising since they're always up to cool tricks like that. What's that Fett going for these days, anyways? Was that limited as well, or more of a general release? I can't recall anymore...
-
Now this belongs in my Darth Vader shrine.
Any guesses on how tall he actually is?
-

I hope so too, would be nice to give us a break on the carded stuff.

Here is my picture of the Medicom Fett that I published on the Kubrick thread.
That ought to give you an idea of how tall it is. All of those Bounty X Hunter VCD figures are the same. About 8" or so.
-
The packaging is much better on this one.
-
The packaging is so green, guess I'm used to seeing the darker packaging but I like the window display. 8)
Thanks for the picture Simon, so are you getting one for your collection?
-
Yeah but no rush. I'll go in the Collectors Club lottery and try to get it cheaply.
-
I noticed that a couple of the new Boba Fett have shown up on eBay.

Sweet. There are 2005 of them. I was worried they were only going to have 500. The box graphics are cool.

$200? Damn, I was hoping this would be a lot cheaper. But I guess it's pretty early yet, so here's hoping it drops in price. A lot. :-\
-
Nice figure, but I would get any kind of Kubrick before it.
-
Like the Boba Fett, its not my thing, but i like the packaging.
-
What is it that collectors don't like about these toys? ??? I think that the Bounty Hunter figures are just as, if not more interesting than anything that Medicom or any other lines for that matter. For me it's the size, the detail, the funky design... Each to their own though. I reckon it's just me at the end of the day, I guess. I mean, relatively speaking, they are not even that popular in Japan compared to alot of the other lines.

I like them, but it's not the direction I like to fling my cash is about all. It's just a matter of choosing something to not collect is really more than not liking them. I'd love to have them, but there are MR pieces I need yet, tons of Gentle Giant coming, Kubrick's (two series' plus catch-ups), all the regular Hasbro stuff and a vinyl cape Jawa haunting me before considering these.
-
Man, Medicom sure knows about designing awesome boxes, don't they?
I will be passing on it, though. Kubricks and RAH figures will have to do for me. Can't wait to get my RAH Darth Vader this month. It is coming out this month, right?
:)
-
It looks like it's official - the 3rd figure in Medicom's Vinyl line is the Stormtrooper:
No word yet on when it'll be released...
-
How will this be available...or has it been already released.
Sorry if it's a stupid question......getting kind-of out of the Hasbro frenzy and looking at maybe aquiring these Medicom deformed ones.

NEW! MEDICOM STAR WARS DARTH VADER Vinyl Figure KUBRICK (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=751&item=5984655893&rd=1)
$200? Damn, I was hoping this would be a lot cheaper. But I guess it's pretty early yet, so here's hoping it drops in price. A lot. :-\
This guy is still too pricey for me - the best deal I've found is $180US (http://cgi.ebay.ca/NEW-MEDICOM-Star-Wars-VINYL-DARTH-VADER-Figure-Kubrick_W0QQitemZ5999175034QQcategoryZ36553QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem), but most list it around $200US (http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5999872505) still.
My Vader mini-focus is just begging to have him added.
-
yeah.. i'm suprised it's still so high after so long.. the fett seem to have stabilied ard the 100-120 range...
maybe vader is much more popular.. wait til stormie comes too! :P
-
Medicom's other update today (besides Series 5 of the Kubricks) is the release of the Vinyl Stormtrooper.
Limited to 2005 pieces, he will be released at the 21st World Character Convention in Toyko on December 4th.
It sounds like only the first 500 will be released then, and the other 1505 will be available online from Medicom (http://www.medicomtoy.co.jp).
-
Did anyone else get the Fett's or Vader from this line? I absolutely love the Vader. I would go so far as to say that this line is my favorite from Medicom. They are kooky in a classic Japanese way, yet artistic and you get a real bang for your buck because they are quite chunky and super high quality as you would expect from Medicom.
-
I'd love to get my hands on the Vader, someday. I think the Stormtrooper looks even better! I get such a kick out of their big hands and feet. ;)
-
i got the vader and the fett.. hoping to add the stormie to the collection!
i hope they do a yoda! it will be fantastic! ;D

Woot! News from Toy Fair on these...
Looks like Sideshow will be able to distribute these in the USA.
Maybe now I'll be able to grab a few of these and not have to pay the huge eBay prices on them! ;D
-
I'm with you too...
-
Sweet 8)
I presume we're now all competing with each other for a vinyl Fett :-X
-
This is great news! I've just been wanting one of those crazy Vaders, but I couldn't justify the price. So you'll have one less guy competing for a Fett, Brent. ;)
-
I am SO glad I waited to buy any of these! :D
-
So did anyone preorder these from Sideshow Collectibles, raise your hand.
-
I sooooo want to order them, but... :-\
Getting both Vader AND Stormtrooper together and still paying less than the average eBay price for one of them is just a fantastic deal, but after giving it some thought tonight, I think I'm going to pass.
This summer's "additions" are already starting to sway the way I think about my collecting. I know that if I grab these two, it will invariably suck me in to tracking down Fett and then shelling out for more as they come out. They are damn cool, but I guess I've just got to stay strong and let the Kubricks stuff satiate my Medicom desires. :(
-

I`m with you. As much as I want these guys, I have to pass. Just can`t have
it all I guess, and the $120 will go into series 6 when it comes out.
Damn good prices though. If they had been 40-45, I`m sure i would have
bit on them....

Yup. 1 Vader (http://sideshow.directtrack.com/z/10140/CD996/&l=48044) & 2 Stormtroopers (http://sideshow.directtrack.com/z/10140/CD996/&l=48045). 8)
-
According to Sideshow's "Behind the Show" blog (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/behindtheshow/?p=755), there will be "minor paint differences" between the figures they are importing and the ones originally released in Japan. Since they are "minor", I don't imagine it will make much difference to most people.
I would imagine the packaging will have some differences as well, including a Sideshow logo of some kind and removal of the Japanese writing (which I assume the orginals had).
-
Hey fellas,
Alter Ego Comics has both the Vader and Stormie up for pre-order for $51.00 each - I saved a total of $14.05 by pre-ordering through them. Alter Ego Comics does ship to Canada.

Jeff,
Thanks for the great news. One less thing to buy since I only collect OT.

Wow, they did a great job on him. 8)
Anyone hoping to grab him? I think this is one line I'll stay away from, despite the killer job Medicom has done so far.
-
I'll be getting one... I've got connections ;)
-
I don't collect this line but after seeing the pics on the site I may order one. If I don't like it when I get it Im sure someone will take it off my hands.
-

Pre-order for the rest of us is tomorrow. It's well done, but I'm thinking of sticking to OT stuff on this. I'm hoping I can have the willpower to not buy it.
-
hope to get my order in too..
any numbers for this?
-
I got one.
-
So did anyone go for one today?
-
I considered it, but my willpower actually won for once. Whoda thunk?
-
I passed also. Vader and a Stormie are fine now, Fett to follow in time.
-
So did anyone go for one today?
i got one too.. better than paying more on ebay in the future..
-
My wife actually got on efor me. I figured I can get the stormie for a better price down the line, but the exclusive 501st will be, as history shows, hard to get.
Besides, the Super Deformed look is great for any form of troopers.
-
I buckled and grabbed one. I don't have any of the others, but maybe I can hold myself to just this one. ::)

Guess this explains why Sideshow didn't offer any Boba Fetts...
Boba Fett Super Deformed Vinyl Collectible Figure (Return of the Jedi Deco)at StarWarsShop.com (http://shop.starwars.com/catalog/product.xml?product_id=405257&ReferrerID=CJADBN-00001)
$50 plus shipping, set to ship in August! :o
-
Well how's about that... 8)
-
Jeff, thanks - I placed my order.
So is this the exact same version as the WCC18 Fett? I compared pictures and they looked the same.

They looked the same to me Matt, but I just don't know for sure. Also thanks Jeff, I placed my order last night as well. I decided to go OT with these guys, so with the Sideshow releases of Vader/Stormtrooper and now SWS.com Fett, I have what I want of these.
-
Pretty stoked about this. I had the Fett at one time, but sold it off for like $130.00 on ebay. Now I will have it again for $80.00 less. ;D
-
Indeed, I can't wait to get this piece. ;D
-
I've got Vader and Stormie on pre-order and the 501st CC exclusive on pre-order as well, but I think I'm gonna pass on Boba.

Apparently there will be only 2006 of these for sale at the show perhaps.

Slave 1 posted some really nice pics of this :)
-
There's also a Tie Pilot, is there not?
-
So what's the price on that Clone?
-
I was lucky enough to pick up a Clonetrooper at the Parco Exhibition today. The new Tie Fighter Pilot looks great too.
-
So what's the price on that Clone?
From the text above, looks like it is 6,090Y or about 55 bucks (give or take a few bucks).
Of course, thats if you get one from them. On the secondary market, probably over 100 for sure :(
Unless Sideshow gets their hands on some like they did with Vader & Stormie :)
-
Oh I just remembered, there will also be a VCD Yoda coming out, but it won't be the deformed kind.
-
Hey all. I picked up my 501st at Comic Con and am having serious second thoughts about collecting this line. I think I may just unload this piece for what it cost me. If anyone needs this piece just shoot me a PM and we'll talk. Rather just hook someone up then go to the trouble of listing it on ebay.
-
This VCD Tie Fighter looks sick. The best one so far. Limited to 2006 pieces.

Sideshow has the TIE Pilot VCD (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=search&item=4319&type=store) up for preorder for $59.99.
-
So did anyone get a shipping notice from SideShow on the Vader & Stormie? Sadly I had to pass on these. :-\
-
I cancelled the 2 Stormtroopers a week ago and am considering cancelling the Vader too. $60 for a figure plus $35 shipping and probably $20 duty? I just don't think I can justify it anymore. I hate FedEx with a passion. >:(
-
Again Jesse, hook up with one of the folks in the states: shipping is dramatically reduced; it can be sent up here USPS fairly cheaply and with a lower declared value. No FedEx/UPS nonsense pricing, no brokerage/customs fees. It's way too sensible.
I didn't cancel my order and I did get my shipping notice. As mentioned before, I'll stick with OT on these and did order the Tie Pilot. Nice oddball conversation pieces I think.
I will admit this might be one of those lines that doesn't do so well though and secondary pricing might be lower.
-

Actually, I've learned to do that now and many of my fellow JD'ers have helped me out. Unfortunately Sideshow will not allow me to ship items to anyone but the billing address, not even a secondary address registered with my credit card. :(

Been there, done that... :-\

Uh........ someone's giving you guys a line. I'm doing exactly that and having no problem at all. Although maybe I should just shut up about it :-X Maybe it's because I list the billing and shipping address as being the same, even though they're not :-X
-
I received my shipping notice for the 501st clone, it should be here tomorrow. I don't know where/if this fits into the collection, but I like the idea of having one at least.
-
Got the 501st today- I like it!
Soooo, what is the deal with medicom being able to sell through sideshow? Is this just because there isn't a U.S. license that covers this size figure?
Could Kubricks be next?
I actually hope not. I sort of like the fact that Kubricks are not a North American item.
-
Quality work with the box of the Tie Fighter Pilot.
-
Dang, that is nice!
-
I wonder how far they'll go with this line. That's 7 so far. I wouldn't be surprised we see a Scout Trooper one soon and then perhaps a Snowtrooper to tie in with a Hoth theme Kubrick Series 8. H8Graphix do heaps of other wicked figures so perhaps they'll have a crack at humaniod and alien characters too.
-
I just went to sideshow and placed my order for the tie pilot. So much for only getting 1 of these... Now I have 4 more on order (Darth, Stormtrooper, Fett, and Tie pilot) to go with my 501st.
This hobby is not easy for those of us completely lacking willpower and who are suckers for cute villians. ;)

Amen.
-
I see that VCD Yoda (http://www.medicomtoy.co.jp/WI/0032.cgi?recno=2474) is up on Medicom's site today!
-
Is that a cigar in his left hand? :D
-
I really like the 'deformed' style they were using before since it gave the figures a very unique look. Not that this Yoda looks bad, but I hope it's not the end of the deformed style.
I cancelled the 2 Stormtroopers a week ago and am considering cancelling the Vader too.
I just couldn't cancel my Vader and I'm so glad I kept the order. This is one of the greatest pieces I have! I was impressed to see the arms articulated at the shoulders, elbows and wrists, but even better is the wire in the lining of his cape which allows you to pose it any way you like.
-
I got my stormtrooper today, I haven't opened it yet, but will later tonight. ;D
-
A couple of better pics of Yoda.

Doesn't look too deformed to me. :D
-
I noticed HLJ has the Yoda (http://www.hlj.com/product/MEDVCD-086) up for the Early Bird preorder, $38.88 US or $43.10 CDN & has a release date of Dec/06.
Also check your e-mail from RoBBy, he has Yoda up for presale for $37.70 US or $41.85 CDN.
-
Starwarsshop.com has the tie fighter pilot VCD available now!
I opened my Stormtrooper, it is fantastic. I have a second on the way. Sideshow is filling orders on the waitlist now.
-
Not digging the Yoda. It's nice and all, but doesn't fit the deformed theme at all. Pass.
-
I've heard/read a few theories that this Yoda was designed to go with the RAH figures and that is why he isn't in the deformed style like the others. Something along the lines of it was too difficult to do a true RAH figure for someone as small as Yoda, so they made up this vinyl Yoda to take the place.
Based on the sizes listed for the figure, the theory works for me. Scale-wise, he is too tall to fit with the other Vinyl figures, but he seems to be a pretty good scale match to the RAH Jedi Luke, so maybe ther is something to that rumor/theory...
-
I just got my Vader and my Stormie from Sideshow and I love them! My shelf at work is chock full of Vader now and I have the Tie pilot on pre order from Sideshow as well.
Anyone else think they will do an AT AT driver next and just repaint the tie mold?
-
Anyone else think they will do an AT AT driver next and just repaint the tie mold?
I hope they can do better than just a repaint, but I would like to see one done. Along with a snowtrooper and bikerscout. And Death Star gunner and bossk. And 4-LOM and IG-88 and Zuckuss and even "low budget costume" Dengar.
-
But what real differences are there between the AT AT driver and TIE pilot other than paint apps? To me it looks like their helmets and chest packs are pretty much identical.
I'm all for more SD troops though! I'd be very curious how Bossk would come out too, as he's my fave bounty hunter from the second string ;D
-
There probably isn't much of a difference, it's just my wanting more than a repaint for $60.00 is all.
What would a superdeformed AT-AT look like? ;D
Oh wait, we have that from Hasbro already.... ;)
-
Just received the email from Sideshow that the VCD Tie Pilot orders will be processing in about three weeks. Yikes, they just did Vader and the stormtroopers. My wallet could use a break :-\
-
I just received Vader today. Very fun looking guy! Looking forward to the TIE pilot, but yes, the wallet is weary.
-
I caved and nabbed a boba from SWS.com
Less than $60 shipped.
Problem is ... now I want a Vader too ... :(
-
I can't wait for the Pilot & Fett. I had to pass on the stormie,Vader & 501st because I didn't order them.
I'd like to see a deformed 3PO.
-
The vader really is fantastic- I don't know what the secondary market is going to do on these, but if you can get one at cost (around 65-70.00) I would highly recomend it. Everything about him is crisp- the detail is good, the finish is excellent (shiny where it should be shiny, flat where it should be flat). He is currently front and center on the shelf above my desk, with his stormtrooper and 501st flanking him.
-
Are you trieing to rub it in my face? :P
JK!
-
Sorry Artoo, I was responding to Darknight2k4's post before yours. No rubbing intended! ;)
-
Deformed Threepio would be good but I hope they continue with the Imps for a while first!
I'd like to see an AT AT driver, Scout Trooper, and Imperial Guard!
-
I found the vader for about $62 shipped. I think that is as best as I am gonna get right ?
I already pre-ordered the Fett.
Unless I can get a rock-bottom deal for the stormies that allow me to get two, I won't go there. But you can't pass on Fett, and vader looks too cool.
I am hoping for a darth Maul ! ! !
-
That is a great price for vader, cheaper than being on the original order list!
-
And I think I have a 10% coupon , so I will have to go for it ! ;D
-
Yoda is up for pre-order at Sideshow (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?item=4342). $59.99 plus shipping!
-
Yoda just doesn't look like he will fit in with the others.
-
Yoda just doesn't look like he will fit in with the others.
Agreed and for that reason I won't be ordering him. I understand the rationale for doing him in this fashion, but I'm leaning towards the uniqueness of the deformed figures. My wallet thanks me too.
-
ok, I caved. Wife is gonna kill me...
But with the coupon I had, I got the Vader for about $51 ;D
-
Vinyl TIE Pilot (http://www.ningyoushi.com/product/STAR004) $65.00 at Ningyoushi
EDIT: not quite as good a deal as SSC, but its another source
-
Anyone have any leads on a Stormy at a good price ?
-
I got my shipping notice from SS- TIE pilot should be here Thursday! ;D
-
why are these so expensive...i've come across the stormie and vader at a comic book shop for i think ($59.99)...seeing these on the shelf doesn't do anything for me and i don't know why....it looks like the price point is way to high on these...
-
They are a bit spendy, but I am hooked. I got the TIE pilot yesterday, and he looks great next to the others. I think the Fett from starwarsshop.com is a November release. Anytime Fett gets in a line, the interest goes up.
-
Well, this thread doesn't seem to be burning up the bytes. ::)
I received my Boba Fett from SW shop.com today- It is an excellent little bounty hunter, and he looks great next to vader and the stormtrooper
-
I have considered getting the Yoda, but then talk myself out of it just hoping Sideshow will do one soon.
-

I have the same. love them.
Yoda will not so though. Just does not fit...
But they could do a Maul...
-
Maul would definately be a good choice!
-
Holy crap, StarWarsShop has the ROTJ Boba Fett as one of their "Daily Specials" for just $29.99 (http://shop.starwars.com/catalog/product.xml?product_id=405257&ReferrerID=CJADBN-00001)!
I've always been temped by this line and now I can feel that low, low price for Fett trying to suck me in... :-\
-
DOOOO ITTTT!
These are great, I just went and ordered a second for my brother in law! Thanks for the tip!
-
Jeff, do you have to me a Hyperspace member? I went and looked and it shows $49.99
For $29 I would be all over this! I have wanted this fig for a while but couldn't afford it.
-
Jeff, do you have to me a Hyperspace member? I went and looked and it shows $49.99
It was listed as one of their holiday "Daily Specials" meaning the deal only lasts a little while (until a certain # are sold). Unfortunately, it looks like it is over now. :-\
-
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Oh, well.....$30 I saved....LOL
Thanks Jeff

Royal Guard Vinyl Collectible Doll from Medicom (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/behindtheshow/?page_id=2590)
-
But is it deformed? I know with Yoda they said it was too small to do in that style. If it is deformed, count me in. If not, pass.
-
You can't really see it very well in our Royal Guard pic (http://www.jedidefender.com/gallery/imageFolio.cgi?action=view&link=Conventions/Toy_Fair_2007/Sideshow_Collectibles&image=TF_2007_Sideshow_0041.jpg&img=&tt=), but you can see it in this one (http://photos2.figures.com/gallery2/data/701/IMG_2128.JPG).
I believe it is in the deformed style, but it is a little hard to tell with the cloak/robe.

I think the hand gives it away pretty well, thanks. I looked at the first picture late last night and assumed it was just a regular part of the 12" line or a RAH they were distributing. It'll be interesting because the cloak does hide so much, but as long as it's similar to the other OT releases, I'll buy it.
-
The cape does make it tough to get a good idea of the "deformedness," it looks like a good enough fit for me. I like that they are sticking with imperials to this point.
-
I don't have any of these but was really close to ordering this one. I was at the check out page on sideshow but opted against it. :-\
-
Definitely deformed... and up for pre-order (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?item=4356) now.

It's a nice piece but i'm still aggrivated that it's another army builder and not a main character... ::)
-
In case you missed it, the ESB Fett VCD is at StarWarsShop (http://shop.starwars.com/catalog/product.xml?product_sku=SWMDBFESB). Just $44.99 plus shipping. :o
-
Following Jeff's report on the front page, there'll be a black hole stormtrooper version at SDCC this year. (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=comiccon07_exclusives) I think I'll probably lay claim to this one after passing (so far) on the Royal Guard. I seem to be heading to a shadow stormtrooper/BHS focus display since I think I have most of the pieces released to this point.

:o :o :o Looks like that will be my 1st VCD purchase...
-
Welcome to the darkside brother. Your list lengthens. LOL.
-
There were 3 new VCD figures at the Medicom Show at Parco. There was a deformed VCD Shadow Guard which is a black version of the Royal Guard. Also there was an awesome looking deformed C-3PO and was painted in a metallic gold. Finally there was non-deformed VCD Wicket. I think I'll be giving the last one a miss.
-
Oh yeah. There was I more I forgot abot. It is a mini VCD Vader. It looks like the Saw Mini Doll.\

Yeah i've known about that thing for over a year but I have yet to see one ever on Ebay. That's why I opted for the 400% Bearbrick... ;D
-
According to the Sideshow SDCC 2007 (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=comiccon07_products#) page, they will be offering a new C-3PO VCD figure and a new Wicket VCD figure.
(http://www.sideshowtoy.com/mas_assets/thumb/4357.gif) (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/mas_assets/thumb/4360.gif)
Hard to tell from the tiny pics, but it appears 3PO is in the "deformed" VSD style, while Wicket is in the "regular" VCD format (like Yoda was). Should get some nicer pics this week, both figures go up for pre-order on Friday, July 27th.
-
Easy pass for me...
-
I passed on the Yoda hoping Sideshow will do there own version, so i will probably pass on wicket as well. I am hoping since Sideshow is doing Frodo and Sam in the LOTR line they have a small body base to use for Star Wars characters.
-
I'll pass on the furry one, and I am kind of hoping to not get hooked by C-3PO. Keeping it to bad guys keeps the collection size/display manageable.
-
Ok so i am taking it back. I ordered the Wicket. Mostly becuase i think it actually looks pretty good after taking a second look at it and becuase it is in 1/6th scale. With that said, does anyone have the Yoda that they could post a pic of, possibly next to a Sideshow 12 inch figure. Thanks!
-
Preorder for Wicket and C-3PO is up! ;D
-
Preorder for TC-14 is up at Sideshow. Its a pass for me though.

-
I feel bad for Jesse but I'm not worried, the original size is fine for me.
I feel bad for me too... ;) I think the Deformed style figure on a 12" scale would be awesome, but I'm not sure it would be $225 awesome. Plus shipping. Ouch.
-
Sideshow (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/behindtheshow/?page_id=4136) has confirmed that they will be able to offer this piece in the USA.
Kind of nice that they can bring these in. No word yet on what they will be charging though...
-
Well there you go Jesse, kinda closer to home. Now the price! :-\
-
Thanks for the great news Jeff! I'll keep my fingers crossed that the price will be reasonable.
I may have to contact a couple Canadian e-tailers to see if they'll be bringing it in.
-
I'm not sure it would be $225 awesome. Plus shipping. Ouch.
Sideshow is now taking pre-orders (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?item=4359) at $199.99 plus shipping.
It's cheaper than Blister.jp by about $25, plus the shipping should be cheaper than having it flown from Japan...
-
17" tall! Oh temptation! If they had given him the OT paint apps for some more variety from the original (besides size), it would have been a home run.
Hmmm... Shipping would be about $30 for me in Canuckia. But then there's FedEx's brokerage fees and Canadian customs as well. I sure wish Sideshow used USPS...
-
Yeah, good ol FedEx. Nothing but customs unless they do the backdoor delivery, take the paper work & send you the bill a couple weeks down the road. Receives bill, phones FedEx... what parcel? You got a sig on that! :-X ;)
Maybe best to have someone in the US get it for ya Jesse & reroute it. :-\
-
A good idea Dale, but Sideshow won't let me ship it to someone else. But that's OK, it's too damn cool for me to pass on and I decided to bite the bullet and put in my order. It'll definitely be a centerpiece in my collection. 8)
-
Well ya could have PayPal'd the $$$ to someone & have them do the order. ;)
It will be a nice addition to the Vader focus, ya gotta posts pics. :)
-
Just a heads up.
www.casefresh.com has the medicom vinyl Yoda for $55 aus, for you guys, they would have to take off the %10 GST too so it would only be $49.50aus + would be about $45 US plus shipping
They also have the real action hero Sandtrooper and clone trooper on sale for $120 aus less GST and convert be about $100 plus shipping
Just thought I'd put it out there.
Picked up a sandtrooper, too good a deal to pass up on.

My W-sized Vader arrived today - it's frickin' huge!
I was starting to feel guilty about spending the money on this, but after seeing it today, I'm VERY happy with it. I'll get some pics up soon.

Looks like Sideshow will be selling the VCD Shadow Guard at SDCC'08 (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/?page_id=4676)...

I know I want one but would like to get two.

More VCD figures were shown at the Medicom Toy Exhibiton'08 today:
- Maul, new Vader, and Jango Fett
(http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/6-08/VCD.jpg)
-
Are those really VCDs? They look WAY more bobble-headed than the current line.

If you look at the labels in front of each figure, you can see the "Vinyl Collectible Dolls" script above the Star Wars logo... ;)
-
Ok, the Maul and Vader VCD's look great. I might have to step up to these when they come out...
-
OK, look at these quick Photoshop comparisons I did. These don't even come close to matching the style of the existing line. I'm not saying they're bad per se, but if I'm going to be collecting a line of figures, I want them to be visually consistent. I'm actually hoping that these are meant to be a different line somehow. The "VCD" name already applies to two different kinds of figures -- the realistic ones like Wicket and Yoda, and the super deformed ones. Maybe this is a third "bobblehead" line or something.

Is it just me or does that Darth Maul look like Elmer Fudd?
-
It's definitely not just you. I just came in to pose the same question and yours was already there.
-
I also just noticed that these are considerably smaller than the existing VCDs -- compare their height to the Kubricks in this picture:
And then the height of the current VCD vader with a kubrick:

This picture seems to show a super deformed VCD Darth Maul that conforms with the current line.

I think those three are bobble heads
-
I'm somewhat inclined to agree. The VCD labeled Maul has very different hands.
-

I agree with icruise - whatever they are, they are not part of the VCD "Superdeformed" line. Them being a third line in the VCD family is the best guess at this point.
But, they are part of the VCD family (if you look at the labels in front of them, you can see the "Vinyl Collectible Dolls" script logo above the SW logo). ;)
-
If you look closely at the name tags in the "bobblehead" picture, it looks like it might say something like "Bobblehead Darth Maul" or "Bobblehead Darth Vader" -- there's a word in front of the name that probably denotes what the new series will be called.

I so want the Jawa VCD! My Wicket shipped out yesterday.
And i asked this a while ago but never really got an answer. Was the Yoda VCD in scale with the 12 inch Sideshow figures?
-
Here is a better angle that you can see the Darth Maul VCD. It looks like they are making R2-D2 and another Yoda too.

Got my wicket in the mail today, very cool. I am really thinking i should have got a yoda.

Yoda is in scale with 12" figures (more or less). Wicket appears to be slightly smaller than he should be.

Thanks for the info. Do you have a pic of yoda with a 12 inch figure.

Does anyone know if the R2-D2 is "Deformed" or in scale with the Sideshow 1:6 figures?

Are you talking about the new Yoda? Because I just answered that question a couple of posts above yours. (The new Yoda is deformed.)

Damn, i meant to say the new R2-D2...fixed the original post.
-
The R2D2 is also deformed, as near as I can tell. Kind of squat.

Thats is my thought too but its hard to tell for sure.
-
That's part of why I strayed from this line. A couple weren't really a good fit with the deformed approach. Not like I'm lacking for normal versions of characters.
-
Thats funny because i am going for the normal versions to match up with Sideshow.
-
Yeah, I stayed right out of that Sideshow stuff. I could see where that was heading...$$$
-
Yeah, $70.00 for a R2-D2 shipped? I haven't paid over $50.00 shipped for any of mine other then Darth Vader. I forked just under $100.00 for him shipped.

For all those who remember the discussion from June... the correct answer was Mini VCD. ;)
Darth Vader (http://www.medicomtoy.co.jp/WI/0032.cgi?recno=3602) and Darth Maul (http://www.medicomtoy.co.jp/WI/0032.cgi?recno=3603) and Jango Fett (http://www.medicomtoy.co.jp/WI/0032.cgi?recno=3604)

Huh. Very "Warner Brothers" looking. I'll not be getting them, but they aren't hideous.
-
They're kinda neat. 3990 Yen = $44US = $53CDN. 13.5cm = 5.5inches tall.
-
Maul looks like Elmer Fudd :D
-
What no love for the deformed Yoda? I think it's one of the best yet!

I got my notice today that VCD Yoda is expected to arrive at SSC warehouse in the next 15 days. 8)

You're going to have to make quite a bit of room to accommodate his wingspan. ;)

Yeah he's about 8"x8" but what I find more surprising is that he weighs 23lbs. :o

That's one constipated muppet...

I received my Yoda (http://tinyurl.com/yl9ulzg) today and despite SSC's website (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/?page_id=4489&sku=900148&utm_source=search0109) saying that this weighs 23lbs, I'd be shocked if it broke 1lb. :-\
-
Somebody goofed big time. Maybe that was supposed to read 2.3 lbs, not 23?
He does look cool though Jayson - nice pics as always! 8)

Thanks Jesse, it is a pretty cool piece and looks great in my focus collection. I am a little let down by the "heft" of it though. $70 is a bit high for what you actually get, $40-$50 would have been better considering.

Hey, JesseVader08, is this one too spendy for the Vader focus?
Darth Vader (Swarovski Crystal Model) (http://www.medicomtoy.co.jp/list/10601.html) - just 185185 Yen (~ $1545 US) and Due in December.
Great job, Medicom! Nothing says "Let's celebrate The Force Awakens" like bedazzled Darth Vader. ::)
