Saga Collection '06 / Re: George Lucas in Stormtrooper Disguise.
« on: July 12, 2006, 03:48 AM »
Recieved my Georgetrooper this afternoon.  The clamshell arrived in ok shape, considering the shipping box was thrashed.  No room for error on this one, for us MOC collectors. :-\

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Ordering TSC Figures by the Case?

The extra Vader's is one of the biggest drawbacks of pre-ordering this years assortments.  I plan to give my extra Vader's, and other extras to the local neighborhood kids, and whatever is left to Toys for Tots at the end of the year.

You must be joking.  No email here yet.

I got the link through a pm here and ordered mine.  If you like I will send the link out to you.  Now hopefully that link is offical but since I got a conformaiton email I figure it is.  If not I will need to cancel my CC soon.  We will see.

Thanks for looking out Tom!!!  Got your PM! I saw people already getting the email, and started s#!ting bricks, as I usually get GG's email with 25-30 minutes of it being reported.

Now I don't have to stress out about getting this piece, and can actually enjoy the con. :D

Well, other than rushing to ACME's booth. :P

Just remembered another similarity POTC2 has with ESB.  Bob Anderson has swordmaster/choreography credits for DMC.

It seems that Revenge of the Sith's reign as the film with the highest-grossing one day total is already over.  POTC2 made an estimated $55.5 million yesterday.  Damn!

Very impressive.  Some things to consider though:

Schools out- Alot of teeny boppers at this flick.  I'd say over half the people at my theater were under 16.
Great film the whole family can enjoy.
Chick flick appeal -As the movie was letting out, I heard alot of girls saying things like "It doesn't get any better than Johnny Depp in eyeliner". :P

IMO this movie has a slight "Titanic" factor.  Meaning alot of teeny boppers/young girls are going to see this movie over and over again because of the Depp/Bloom factor, and just because it's summer vaction.  Dead Mans Chest will definately be the top money maker of 2006.

Other Collectibles / Re: Sideshow's 1/4 Statues

This will be my first PF.  I'm really curious as to what the exclusive could be.   Seeing as he is in his ROTJ colors, it would be almost a no brainer the exclusive being Han in Carbonite, perhaps with real working lights?

There seems to something in the background of the pic, behind Fett.  He's in classic guarding pose, like he's guarding his prize catch.

Anyways, hope I can score the exclusive when it goes up for sale.

I saw the third showing this afternoon.  I planned to see the first showing to beat the crowds, but was running late, and they were all sold out!

No surprise I loved every minute of it.  I agree it wasn't perfect like the first one was, and I can  see what critics, and some people have said about it lagging in some parts, going on too much in some parts, and generally the story going in all kinds of directions.

This is just your classic fun, summer popcorn movie.  This is also one of those movies, at least for me to watch over and over again just to watch the details you may have missed the first time.

Alot of folks have been saying this film had a ESB feel.  I agree, it was darker, ended with a great cliff hanger, and could'nt wait to see more.

My highlights:

Davy Jones and his barnacle encrusted "Flying Dutchman", and crew.
Most of the well knowns are back from the first film.
Pintel and Ragetti
"The Kraken!"
The last two minutes of the film *Spoiler below*

Just received my email from GG at 4:29 PST.  Odds are very likely I would have been assed out, as it seems alot of people received theirs about 35-45 minutes ago.

On to the the server crash/blood bath Black Hole mini bust fiasco of '06. ::) :-\

Well, I didn't get as lucky this time.  The bottom of my box was dented pretty badly.  :'(

Sucks.  If your in the U.S. contact aimee.venable@Sideshowcollectibles.com or through her direct phone line at 805-214-2158.  She is hooking me up with a new box free of charge.  I also requested that all my future SW 12" orders to be double boxed, and she said my account would be flagged as "MIB" collector.

So you can do that to, and avoid any future package damage.  Oh yeah, and make sure to mention whether you have a regular or exclusive box.

72
I think the exclusive will be Maul's battle damaged lightsaber.  Whether we'll get the lit or unlit version, or both ends, that I don't know. :P

73
Was your Luke box damaged too?  That really blows for collectors who keep this stuff boxed.

It had some very minor creasing on the inside flap, nothing I couldn't live with.  That's what happens when you ship them in thin mailer boxes.  The one thing I really sweat is the dreaded "nose rub".

74
Received my Anakin a few days ago.  Outstanding figure, with a couple of small flaws, but incredible nontheless.  Here are some crappy pics of my favorite pose from Star Wars insider Magazine #82:

Btw, SSC really has to reconsider double boxing when they ship these beauties out.  My presentation box had plenty of creases, dings, and a couple of 1" tears on the flaps.  :-\

Finally got around to opening my Luke up.  Here are some crappy pics:
