It's that time of year again, time for the Shamrock Shake to rear its delicious green head! Fortunately, a close Mickey Dee's had them last year, and I can only hope they'll carry it this year. So who else is a fan off all things Uncle O' Grimacy?

Greatest milkshake ever.
Kevin
-
What the hell ever happend to Grimus??
-
Grimus was probably determined to be too fat.
I've already had one Shamrock Shake. It's my favorite thing about March.
-
Beats a Egg Nog shake. That's for damn sure.
-
I'm pretty sure I saw a Givins and a Talz slamming some in the Mos Eisley Cantina.
-
??? I've never heard of such a thing.what flavor is it?
-
I'll put a vote in for best shake ever...I make a point of getting one while watching at least one NCAA tourney game. BUT...the Shamrock was soooo much better at the time the McRib was also around. There was something about that molded pork BBQ taste and the wholesome goodness of the Shamrock washing it down. Yum

Mint.
-
I love the Shamrock Shake, but I always seem to miss them after the 1st one. I'm saving up and bribing for the recipe.

I'll give you partial credit for the molded BBQ pork.

Here's some memories for you. You can download the old commercial and everything.

"Shamrock shakes they're a beautiful green. The most beautiful green that we've ever seen!"
-
The McRib is back, locally.
Kevin
-
I have never heard of these until today. Never seen them advertised or anything. Very odd. ???
-
I had my first Shamrock Shake last week! I'll have to stop in again, maybe this weekend, and grab another.
-
I've never experienced the pleasures of a Shamrock Shake in my entire life.
Also, (and I don't know if I've ever mentioned this, but) I haven't eaten a McDonald's "hamburger" since April 2001 at a McDonald's inside a Wal-Mart store in Renton, Washington (final resting place of a certain Mr. Jimi Hendrix--the town, not the McDonald's inside the Wal-Mart). And even that was under duress.
Perhaps I should rectify both sometime soon?
-
I think I've had a grand total of one McDonald's hamburger in my entire life.
I guess I've always been a McNugget man myself.
I've never had the shake either - didn't know it existed until I saw this thread... I generally only get McDonalds 2 or 3 times a year, and only when I'm traveling.
I might go find myself one of these this weekend.
-
I have probably eaten more McDonalds in my life than I probably should have, but I too have yet to try a Shamrock shake. I always get the chocolate shake. Maybe I'll have to give it a try this March.
-
Oh man, the Shamrock Shake. I haven't had one in at least 2 years. Last time, I bought the largest one they had (32 or 48 oz) and drank it in about 5 minutes. Words can't even describe the sickness I felt after that. Though i'm oddly craving one now that I think of it. :P
-
Never had a Shamrock shake until last year. Made it a point to go out and get one since I never eat at Micky D's. It was... okay.
-
I have the fondest memories of consuming Shamrock Shakes when I was a wee lad in the '70s. Those were definitely the best.
I remember trying to get one several years ago, only to receive a rather blank (blanker, I guess) expression from the zitty, porcine-faced McD's cashier. Then, only like two years ago, my wife, after hearing my endless bleatings of how this delicious green concoction wasn't available any longer, told me there was a McD's up the road that had them advertised. Needless to say, I jumped in the truck and picked up the largest size they had.
It was totally not how I remembered it. :-X
However, I may have to try to get a hold of another one this year just to make sure it wasn't just an off-day for the Shamrock Shake machine.
-
Well after reading all of this, I decided that I'd compromise my diet, as well as ignore my doc's orders to cut out the sugar, and try one.
My corner McD's didn't have them. But since I'd already decided to cheat, I came back to the office and ate a piece of the homemade fudge that someone brought in.
-
So my wife had a late meeting today, and had to pick up dinner for herself and the girls on the way home. She brought me a gift... a large Shamrock Shake!
-
I FOUND A SHAMROCK SHAKE!
Sure it's two days late but what the hey? Found it at my local Mickey Dee's that I've been checking every day for the past 4,000,000 weeks, but they just got 'em in today.
Excuse while I continue to enjoy Uncle O' Grimacy's minty shake.
-
:( Those Shamrock Shakes never hit my area.I'm very disappointed :'(
-
I have an aquaintance who owns a few McD's here locally. Asked him to hook me up to the green...he said he doesn't carry them because he has to throw away more than he sells every year.
Bummer.
-
None around Orange County, CA. Not this year I guess, but hopefully next year or maybe a late supply in April or some such nonsense.
-
I have never heard of these until today. Never seen them advertised or anything. Very odd. ???
Me too ???
-

I think it might be worth dropping by to try the shake. As for rectifying the situation regarding the hamburger, why bother? I eat there far, far too much (small towns along the highway always have one and I have lots of windshield time) but it's a matter of convenience and I seldom opt for the burgers these days anyway. I may not be a fan of SuperSize Me or Fast Food Nation, but it doesn't mean I'd actually suggest the food is good.
Anyone ever have Arctic Orange shakes at their McD's? I much preferred those over the Shamrock shakes anyday, but they were never around as dependably. I always wondered if it was a major initiative or just some weird Manitoba thing. I am a huge fan of fake orange flavoring though, in chocolate most notably.
-
Arctic orange. Ok, I too have not eaten anything at McDonalds in at least 7 years so i am out of the loop. My girlfriend wanted something from burger king last week so i had some onion rings and that was the first time in at least 2 years there.
-
Oh, I've eaten other McDonald's food product over the years (the fancy new Chicken McNuggets, whatever they're called, the fancy new chicken snack wrap thing, whatever it's called, and assorted breffast sammiches), so it's not like I'm boycotting them or anything--just their "hamburgers."
(But that doesn't preclude me from doing other things with them. . .)

I've never heard of the orange shakes. Sounds like it'd be good, though. Kinda like a push-up pop.
I don't eat at McDonald's often, but I did stop by a few times to get all the Shamrock Shakes I could. ;D I had lunch at Chili's in the middle of a shopping excursion today, but instead of grabbing a dessert there I stopped at the McD drive-thru and got another SS. I also had a hamburger Happy Meal on Saturday with a SS as well. Good times!
-
I really cannot fathom a McD's not having the SS. Every one I ever been to in my entire life during the month of March has had them. Weirdness...
-
Man, I could absolutely go for anything from McDonalds right now. Some ****** stole the sandwich I put in the community fridge.
Just thought you should be aware. Carry on....

LOL ... The previous time this happened, I think I got the last laugh. I ate half a sandwich, forgot about the other half sitting out for several hours while I studied, and before I went to bed I put it back in the fridge. I wasn't even sure if I would still eat it, but I figured I'd worry about it in the morning. Of course it disappeared--but I'm hoping the bandit got food poisoning.

-
Dilbert sucks.
I showed a couple episodes of The Office to my dad a few weeks ago (he had never seen the show before), and afterward, he said "that's kind of like a TV version of Dilbert, isn't it?"
That was just, like, such an insult.

Dear lord! What kind of people do the Mickey Dee's higher ups place in charge of advertising?
-
Not sure...

-
This is the only time of year I eat McDonalds and it's because of two things: The Shamrock Shake and the Filet o Fish for Fridays during Lent. BTW, Scott, I have run into a few McDonalds around town that never carry the shake.
-
I've been to numerous McDonald's in my area looking for the Shamrock Shake for my son to enjoy. I have yet to find one that's serving it. Some of the drive thru clerks looked at me like I was crazy when I asked about it. ???
-

That's because your supposed to use the box, not the window.
Kevin
-
I had another one yesterday. IT'S NOT MY FAULT!! Lynda wanted a fish sandwich for lunch... what was I supposed to do??!!
-
I just had my first Shamrock Shake of 2008 and it was delicious! Looks like they are back on the menu, so all you junkies head out to your local McDonalds and order yourselves up some minty goodness!!!
-
I had my first last week. Yummy!! ;D
-
I can't believe it's that time of year again already. I'll probably stop tomorrow after work and see if they have them at the local McD's.
E...
-
MMM. I need to eat a fatty meal tomorrow for the second part of my "stress test" for my heart (believe it or not the Cardiology department is actually asking me to do that...weird). So I might as well check out Mickey D's for the Shamrock shake.
-
You know still after these years i have been here, i have yet to have one of these. I very much want to try one.
-
Meh, the Arctic Orange shake is better.
-
I just had my first Shamrock Shake of '08 yesterday- and my McDonalds actually got them in before St. Patty's Day this year.
-
I was at the mall the other day and decided to get a shake, they had no idea what i was talking about. I tried the drive-thru by my job and again no idea.
-
lmao wow i didnt know it was this popular. my store has had them in for a week now. so how many of you have realized that the bottom of the shake is always a different flavor from the top? lol
And of course if only you guys realized how horrible the shake mix smells before it becomes your beloved milkshake drinks.
-
Shamrock Shake and Guinness floats for everyone!
-
Uhhhhh... no thank you. ;)
I stopped by and grabbed a shake for lunch. ;D
-
And of course if only you guys realized how horrible the shake mix smells before it becomes your beloved milkshake drinks.
Of course, if you knew how often the machines were cleaned, you'd think twice about ever buying one.
-

dude we clean are machines often. not sure about others stores though...however its not the machine that smells its the mix itself that smells. if any of it spills on you then you reek of it for the next 30 min-to an hour.

Trust me...it is better you don't.

X McD's employee that knows better!!!

Try a day or two. I got sprayed in the face with the syrup and smelled that for 2 days. I can't stand the smell any more thanks to that.
-
THEEEEEEEEEEEY'RE BAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm definitely going to grab one on my way home from work tomorrow!
-
True story...I haven't eaten a McDonald's "hamburger" since April 2001 at a McDonald's inside a Wal-Mart store in Renton, Washington (final resting place of a certain Mr. Jimi Hendrix--the town, not the McDonald's inside the Wal-Mart). And even that was under duress.

I don't think I like you anymore.

Don't hate the playah, hate the game

Can I not hate both at the same time?

That is one scary Wal-mart. My wife was almonst attacked over a parking space while holding my young son.
-
Enjoyed my first shamrock shake of '09 several days ago. :D
-
Yeah, I went out and grabbed one as soon as I read Sith's post. ;D

Can you imagine how much scarier it would be if Jimi Hendrix were buried inside?

Had three this year so far along with the Filet o Fish and some fries. Lent=only time of the year I eat McDonald's.
-
I'm with John, I will make an exception for a McDonalds ban during Lent by having a McFish and McShamrock Shake.
-
Had my first shake of the season last week. I like how they are now putting whipped cream on the top. Nice touch McD's!
-
Still have never had one :o
-

I think I had one when I was like 8. Are they really that good?

I miss Arctic Orange shakes. :-\
-

YES
-
Just had my first of the season. GLORIOUS. But the dummies put a cherry on top! I don't want cherry juice ruining the perfection that is my Shamrock Shake! I had to scoop it out, along with most of the whipped cream, unfortunately, the save the shake.

I always feel left out at this time of year. I really don't like mint... So I'm not into them. :( Yet I want one. It's like Eggnog... It looks more appealing to me than it ultimately is, and sometimes I cave and have it, and then remember why I didn't have it before and feel left out.
It's a really vicious cycle.

I'm with you Jesse. Just not a huge fan of mint (except Fannie May's meltaways).
-
Ya know, I've never had one either............... It just doesn't sound very appealing....
-
Treated the boys to their first ever Shamrock Shakes tonight. It was a proud moment for me when they both said they were the best shakes they ever had. Yet another tradition to pass on to the next generation...
-
I stopped at McDonald's today to get a chipolte burger and totally forgot to check for the Shamrock Shake. I'll have to make up for that and stop in tomorrow.
E...
-
Had to stay on campus late tonight and stopped by McDonalds to grab dinner. They didn't have any Shamrock Shakes. About a month ago this particular store was robbed at gunpoint AND had a 12 year old get stabbed at two different parts of an afternoon. I think I know why. :P
So the hunt continues. I WILL be trying my first Shamrock Shake this year!
-
I stopped by last night... the shake machine was broken. TRAGEDY!!!!
-
another year and i don't think any of the local mcd's offer them again. I've never tried one.
-
Tried my very first Shamrock Shake today.
:o
-
Congrats!
-
Tried my very first Shamrock Shake today.
:o
And how were the runs?
-
another year and i don't think any of the local mcd's offer them again. I've never tried one.
Shamrock shakes finally found their way to East Tennessee...tried my first one a few weeks ago while in Knoxville, and suddenly I'm seeing them here at home as well.
It tasted like green.
Only one I've had though, since I'm off sweets for lent.
-
Tried my very first Shamrock Shake today.
:o
And how were the runs?
Green!
-
Treated the family to a round of SS's this weekend. They are my kids' new favorite treat. They can't wait to go back there and get another one!

At least you did your part for Mother Earth.

Pretty close to Renton right now...may go have a burger at MickeyDs for ole times sakes
-
Visit Jared! I'm pushing this issue.
-
Hey guys - any sightings yet?
-
They're out up here my way Bill. As of yesterday.
-
Damn, I'm going to have to make a run tonight and check it out. One of the only times during the year that I go to McD at all.
-
Back tonight (I like frappes) and the order window had a sign that said, "Shake machine is down. No shake products available".
I expected a rampaging mob.
-
They seem to show up once the McRib disappears....coincidence?!
-
I've heard that's kinda their thing... run short-run things here and there, can them, something else replaces it... I dunno. I loved Oreo frappes and then they took them away. I felt like they stole a bit of my soul that day.
-
My local McD's don't serve them for whatever reason. My post from a few years ago, when I was out of town, was the first and only time I've ever had one.
Honestly I didn't even know these were a thing until this thread started.
-
Yeah, they were popular when we were kids in places with lots of people with Irish ancestry - places where Saint Patrick's Day was big.
I still remember the commercial:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOVKdvkVAqQ
-
Grabbed one dahntahn. Kinda cold to be walking around drinking a shake, but it was tasty.
-
I'm still waiting for the cheddar melt to come back.
-
Had to drive to a few different places before I was able to find one, but found one last night. Tasty. Definitely going to have to make a run with the boys tomorrow after their basketball games as a treat.
-
I'm not a big mint fan so I hate them but I always alert my coworkers. One in particular loves them.
-
Got one today...hold the whipped cream and the cherry #purist
-
I always hold the cherry. That flavor clashes horribly with the mint. Disgusting.
-
I always say i am going to try one but never do since i don't eat fast food. Perhaps this year.
-
Grabbed my first of the season! Shake machine wasn't broke or nothing. Of course I did go at 3PM in the hopes I'd get one before the dinner rush killed it.
-
Awesome, glad to hear they are out somewhere but unfortunately not by me yet. I had to resort to a mint shake at Culvers, just not the same. My two sons are also waiting in eager anticipation.
-
I actually drove to the drive-thru on Wednesday and asked if they were available. They told me they would go on sale Thursday at that location. They hadn't posted any kind of signage as of yesterday. So you might be able to call and check when your location to see when they'll be available.
In my post of Facebook, another guy who lives nearby said he was told "Late February" at a different McD's. That's just preposterous!
-

I did that exact thing after I posted my response last night. Went to two in the area and was told it would be a couple more weeks. Grrr! Guess I'm going to have to make up for lost time once they do come out!
