Odd question here...have we actually seen the panels that cover the front half? And, um, do they exist?

I don't think we've seen it covered up yet...

But, a cover(s) must exist because if you look at the pics, you can see the various notches and tabs that look like they are used to put the cover on it.

Just thinking out loud here, but this would be a great item (along with the AT-TE) to buy via HTS.com when they run their 20% off / free shipping coupons.

Falcon = $120 shipped
AT-TE = $80 shipped

This assumes, of course, that they use the same prices as WM / Target; $149.99 and $99.99 respectively.

Great call ruiner... wow, great call.

BTW, look at This Image - you can see that it has the front cover if you look at the little insert pics (bottom left front view, and top right w/ the quad cannon).

I can't get over how woefully small the 2 pack-in figs look in the boxed shot!  This item, and the shelf space required for it, completely contradict Hasbro's recent responses to Q and As and their business model, and I'm thrilled about it!  It sorta makes anything a possibility, based on this item and the other different themes such as the BAF droids and the 2-pack droid factory stuff.

I agree... it does contradict what Hasbro's been saying.  I think they've been saying the "same old thing" for a while now in order to try and surprise us.  Hopefully you're right, that this means much more is possible.

Absolutely. And I'm not upset on bit. In fact, I'm disappointed the cat is out of the bag.

I'm not disappointed the cat is out of the bag. For me, it makes it that much easier to budget for (especially for something of this size and cost) to know in advance as far as possible. In today's US economy, I think it's a plus for we US consumers to have this info. Just my opinion of course.

Ya know - 8" longer didn't really seem like this would be a lot bigger than the vintage mold, but after seeing the freaking girth of this thing with Han & Chewie in the cockpit....WOW!    :o    I haven't really put this thing into perspective I guess.

Is there another play area inside the ship or is it just the space we've seen already?  In other words, is the 'back' cover removable?

I get the feeling that it probably isn't.  First off, that part of the Falcon doesn't really get seen in the movies.  And secondly, that back top looks like it's structurally important to the stability of the toy.  Plus judging by the seams on the front cover, it looks like you would be able to tell whether or not that back top would come off or not pretty easily.
