The Legacy Collection / Re: Defender Wishlists 2009: Discussion
« on: June 3, 2009, 10:12 AM »
The only thing about the Tonnika Sisters being considered prostitutes and named "Star Whores" is that the average person who isn't that big into SW but collects (maybe a parent who wasn't big into it back in their youth) probably wouldn't know the background story. Plus, if they're marketed as something different on the cards, I think that would be fine.

We took our kids to see the IMAX Night at the Museum 2...it was good but the first was far better.  Lots of the same old crap...and plays in to the theme going in this thread right now...too much repitition in Hollywood.  It is the same thing again and again.  I mean, come on, get some new ideas.  I can't stand the copy catting over and over and over.  Get some originality!  It is like repitition is their job (I'm out of material)

That's why I've stopped watching a lot of TV and going to the movies. Two winters ago, I was watching so much that I got to the point where I realized I know punchlines to jokes before they happened, or the climax of movies. Now I'm much more selective about what I watch, and most of that is sports now.

"Wax on! Wax off!" (good thing the out of context thread is out of commission.)  ;)

That list is rather disturbing... makes one think, "There goes my childhood." I can't see remakes, updates, or reboots of any of the movies there. Most are simply classics and you can't make them better.

... of course, people said that about Trek, and there are a ton of good reviews. And I know some day I'm going to be seeing A New Hope, Empire, and Jedi redone at some point in my life (either by Lucas as he has done before, one of his kids or someone else).

Hasbro could really save some money by releasing CZ-3. They have the mold ready, though not a new figure, a new character.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Terminator Salvation

I can't see that be the ending of the movie... that would be suicide of the franchise.

I saw the movie a few days ago and I didn't think it was horrible. I liked parts of it, but there are somethings that didn't fit well in what I thought of post-apocalyptic future. I always thought of the future as dark and bleak (as we saw in the earlier movies); that humans fought with whatever weapons they had, some cars, jeeps, not with Warthogs. There always seems to be a boiler room fight at the end... Plus, I thought there were too many models of Terminators about (I'm not talking about the foot soldiers but the motocycles, the huge Transformer thing that captures humans and puts them inside a container). I also thought that if the computers were trying to eradicate humans then why did they capture them to use all for the programs?

But it was a cool movie. Glad to see something fun come out.

I'm in for some new Jedis!

Like Paul said, there will most likely be changes to the Sarlaac Pit.

Instead of a hole in a ground with tentacles, it will now have a digital beak edited into it.  ;)

I heard someone bitching in the toy aisle yesterday about what figures cost for SW and wouldn't buy their kid that, even though it's what he wanted.  I think that's a pretty broad view on the line right now, not just to me and maybe collectors...  I think it goes all around.

Plus, while SW figures at $8, aren't there similar 3.75" figure lines for a couple dollars cheaper for more pack-ins. Wasn't GI Joe like this for awhile? (I only get SW and really don't look at other products in the aisle, so I'm not sure)

Anyways, nice to get some more information on Hasbro's thinking - and hopefully some other nice bits of info along the way (new DSE Han Solo from Han's Hideout Q and A)

I have to ask - after all this time.  Does anybody even know that Jeff was behind Han's Hideout?

At least the Minnesohta contingent...

How about redesigning the photo archives?  Group items up under the lines they were in, etc.

Just a thought...right now it's the only reason I might go over to RS from time to time.

Or partnering with some other site that already has really good photo archives... ;)

Never.

I'm guessing Justin means Yak.  ;) Jay does a good job with photos there.

I think some of us were telling Jesse about our immigration policy for Yarna, Breha and some others that warm pegs. Buy up a lot of them and return them to some unfavorable store (say Wloo and CF WM and return them to Indy). That'll free up your pegs and you'll get new cases sooner than you expect.

It's a lot of work on your part, but it gets things moving.
