Hey everyone. I know it's geeky but what the hell, right? Here's the first batch. Hopefully, you can all join in. Let me know what you think. Tony (The Carded Kubrick Guy)

-
I really like the Rancor Keeper and Lobot. I would love to see more.
-
They're cool Tony. Are you planning to try and sell some on eBay?
-
I doubt I'll sell any on E-Bay but if anyone has a request I'll see what I can do. ;D
-
Those are incredible. The Snowtrooper is my favourite, but the Death Star Gunner and Ackbar are really good too. 8)
-
I really like Aunt Beru too
-
Thanks for the props! I just added Garindan and Snaggletooth (red). T
-
Garindan is looking awesome too. Keep it up!
-
Those are really nice, well done. 8)
I like the boxed versions of 3PO & Han with Carbonite Block, mini vinty dolls. All the other figures rock too & especially Yours Truly! :)
Keep up the good work & show us more. ;)
-
WOW! All your stuff looks great.
Love the carded Indy!
-
OK, I just added 6 more. I know the Lak Sivrak (sp) is reaching a little but let me know what you think. Thanks, T
-
Thats it i want a Royal Guard Kubrick right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Ha, those are great. That Royal Guard is sweet! Its like looking at Kuby's to come out in future waves. 8)
-
Maybe I can get a job at Medicom! Ha ha. T
-
Nice stuff Tony! I like the use of the Hasbro heads on the Kubricks :)
-
Awesome work, as always Tony! Even better now that you're going loose (from scratch) and not just carded, with your customizing talents...
As for working at Medicom, I'd have to say no, though. We need to pace ourselves a little bit here, so as to still be able to afford all these (along with the exclusive carded stuff). And considering you seem to be able to pump these things out 20x faster than them, that frankly scares me... ;)
But keep 'em coming. Nice to see the "future" of the line unfolding... Well done. Most jealous, I am. 8)
-
OK, everyone- I just posted 5 more but I'm getting tapped out of parts. Probably won't be any new ones for awhile. Let me know what you think of them. How about some of you guys get some on there too. Enjoy! Tony
http://homepage.mac.com/bikeridetony/PhotoAlbum3.html
-
Sweet!
(http://homepage.mac.com/bikeridetony/.cv/bikeridetony/Sites/.Pictures/Photo%20Album%20Pictures/2004-11-19%2016.29.54%20-0800/Image-5CB828943A8A11D9.jpg-thumb_105_140.jpg)
How the hell do you make those things Tony? Those aren't parts straight off of Hasbro figures are they? Do you somehow shrink them down? Whatever the tricks of the trade are, they're definitely cool...
-
I've had a bunch of POTF figs in my attic for years. They're not worth anything so I figured I'd chop em up. Dremmel tool helps. T
-
OK, this Yak just rocks! I want him, now! 8)

Hows about some Droid series figs Tony, maybe a Vlix? May have to sculpt his head or something. :-\
-
Here are about 15 new ones. Let me know what you think. Tony
http://homepage.mac.com/bikeridetony/PhotoAlbum3.html
-
Whoa, those are awesome Tony. You are are the custom Kuby king! ;) Keep up the great work. 8)
-
Awesome work again. Always fun seeing new ones.
-
Its amazing how well the Hasbro heads blend in with the Kubrick body. Great work Tony!
-
Yeah nice one. Very creative.
-
Hey everyone,
Here are some new figs- General Lando, Ugnaught, Death Star Droid(s), Snaggletooth (vintage blue tribute), and pics of the whole collections with the Medicom and Kamiru figs. If anyone is interested in buying one of these let me know because I could use the money. (It'll probably be costly, though. Sorry, Kubricks cost a lot!) I am also now offering Series 3 custom carded Kubricks. Let me know what you think of the new figs. Tony

Once again, very awesome work.

Nice touch. But where is Doda?
-
Doda doesn't count. I'm sticking to the OT- pre-butchering. I'll never do prequels either. Call me old fashioned...
-
Very cool, I like it! It would make an awesome poster if they made all of the original figures, pputting them int he same order as Kenner did.
-
I just updated. New carded figures are Bossk, Zuckuss, Obi Wan, and Han Carbonite Freeze. Let me know what you think. Boba Fett will be ready to ship on Friday for those of you who don't want to fork over $300 for the Medicom one. $50 for JD members. Also, Series 4 is open for pre-order and will ship by month's end. PM me if you are interested in any of the carded figures. Thanks!
http://homepage.mac.com/bikeridetony/PhotoAlbum6.html
-
Very nice !
I like the 3P0 a lot. I sent a link to a guy on our SW list, he collects
3PO as his focus, he`ll dig yours for sure.
-
Boba Fett is up on the website. Pretty close to Medicom's but mine has the silver border. Like I said before, they're only $50 for JD members. Let me know what you think. T

-
Those bounty hunters sure look good carded. 8)
-
Feel free to buy one. ;)
-
I'll keep you in mind. ;)

Excellent work as usual! I like the reveal Vader a lot, nice how the helmet floats
a bit off the face to show it off, very cool!
-
Very nice stuff Tony.
-
Really nice customs Tony, I like the Luke/Vader. 8)
-
These are so impressive! That's talent man! Hope they don't come after you for surpassing their products. =p

Just put up an all new 12-Back design and 4-Lom card. Scroll down to look. Let me know what you think!
http://homepage.mac.com/bikeridetony/PhotoAlbum11.html
-
Why don't you put it on its correct ESB card?
-
I love your customs Tony, great stuff! That 12-back design is really cool ;D
Here are my first attempts at carding Kubricks (the glue that I used messed up the ink, so I have to redo them :-\). I downloaded the templates from FFURG.com :)
Boba Fett
(http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/Gregorbian/Kubricks/KubrickFettCardedfirstattemptFRONT.jpg)
Bossk

After I took a pic of the Bossk, he somehow got turned around in the blister and his foot fell off >:(. Oh well, all the more reason to try again ;)
-
Not bad. I think you should go for the vintage bubbles with the "canyon". Footings make all the difference too. You don't want your figs bouncing around in there. Glue sticks work great!
-
Thanks Tony, I really appreciated your advice before I started ;D
I just used blisters from a hotwheels car, it was the only one that was big enough and I didn't want to order the bubbles until I knew the steps of making a card.
When you say "canyon" are you referring to the bottom of the bubble (how some of the older ones had a bump-like thing at the bottom)? Should I put the colored cardboard inserts in the bubble to help reduce "shifting" of the figure?
Thanks again Tony ;D
-
When you say "canyon" are you referring to the bottom of the bubble (how some of the older ones had a bump-like thing at the bottom)? Yes
Should I put the colored cardboard inserts in the bubble to help reduce "shifting" of the figure? Yes
This all depends on what your goal is. If you want to hang these on your wall then it doesn't really matter. Use heavy paper. It makes a big difference.
-
Great, thanks again man! ;D
-
Hello everyone,
If anyone is interested, I can add you to the mailing list for my Carded Kubricks. Being on the list means first dibs on deals and a discount on all orders, including bulk deals if you own a store or just want to buy a few. I've has some inquiries from JD list members so I thought I'd make it a public announcement.
Right now, I'm extending this deal to JD members and Carded Kubrick list members only. As a promotion, I'm selling Jawas, Wickets, and IG-88s for $16 or all 3 for $45. If you've been wondering about these but can't bring yourself to shell out the cash, this is a good opportunity to get one cheap.
As always, trades are welcome!

Thanks!

Just want to mention what a great job Tony did on some custom carded Kubs I recently ordered (esb fett/sandtrooper/vader). The removal helmet vader is awesome and I especially liked the custom painted black pauldron sandtrooper. I think I like them better than the Bape and Parcos I've married them with; thanks again Tony!!!
-Scott
-
Thanks Scott!!!

Here are some new Carded Kubs. I should have the rest up by the end of the week and the TRU set up by next week. Let me know what you think!

Check this out guys, the Hasbro stuff still serves some needs... for my Kubricks.

That is a perfect idea... :D
-
here's an easy one I whipped out in about 5 min. A custom K-3PO from an extra TRU set I happened to acquire from good buddie Dan (Bob Dylan SW fan), he just never looked right without that "battle damage"

The K-3po looks great!

I agree, they look great Tony. 8)

Looking good as always T.
You start selling those kits again, let us know !

Just a quick note on the "boil and pop" method for head swapping kubricks. I've done a few x-wing pilots using Jedi luke and ceremonial luke.
What I do is get a small saucepan of water boiling, and using a metal tong, hold the kubrick by the feet dipping the head in the water. I hold it for maybe 45 seconds to a minute, and that gets the adhesive for the neck peg nice and goopy. Then I use a blunt item like a popsicle stick or butter knife back to gently pry the head away from the shoulders.
I might have to look into some other generic humans from other kubrick lines to make into extra pilots-
-
Thanks for posting that kind sir. I'll post my results when I make me up something

Sorry of this is he wrong place. I'm insanely tired. Just wanted to announce my first custom Kubrick- Biggs Darklighter! Should be ready by October. Please let me know what you think. I value your feedback (seriously!). I tried to get the website up but Mac changed everything on me with the new iWeb so I have to get caught up. Here's the link-

I realize that for some, PT Kubricks are bad enough, but the thought of EU Kubricks is probably blasphemy. I'm sure that I'm going to get run out of the Kubrick ranks with this one, but I couldn't help myself. I'm a huge fan of the X-Wing Rogue Squadron Series and was really psyched when Hasbro decided to do a Baron Fel figure. Well, after aquiring my 3rd TIE Fighter Pilot Kubrick, I decided to have some fun with it.
I was all set to get it completed tonight but then realized that I got the wrong black paint this weekend (Black Ink vs. Black from Games Workshop). Needless to say, when I went to put the flight vest back on the head, all the black began to chip off the vest. So, here's how it looks right now and once I'm able to paint the goatee, re-paint the straps, and touch-up the grey and red I'll post more pics.

Also, I'm struggling with what hair to use. In the comics he's basically got black hair in a buzz cut and he's got widows peaks. I thought about just using the Han Series 2 hair, dremeling (sp?) the widows peaks and sculpting it into a buzz cut, and then painting it black. Do any of you know of any other Kubricks that would work better? I'm open to suggestions.
-
Are you kidding? That Fel looks awesome! I definitely like your custom better than most of S8 (sorry, but that S8 Battle Droid still rocks!). Nice job!
-
great masterpiece indeed..excellent job well done..
-
Very cool, i am down for EU Kubricks. ;D
-
Thanks guys, I appreciate the positive reinforcement.
Here are the latest WIPs. Thanks to BrentS for supplying me with some Chaos Black so I could finish off the last of the painting.

I'm still struggling with the hair. I'm actually considering just painting it on, or getting some sculpting putty and sculpting a buzz cut on him... Thoughts?
-
The goatee looks awesome. Well done!
Like I mentioned in my PM. I'd sculpt the hair with greenstuff.
-
Thanks for all the complements guys. I appreciate it.
I decided to have some fun with a PT Kubrick this time. Having one too many Biker Scouts laying around, I camo'd it up and created a 41st Elite Clone Trooper. I went a little overboard with the brown, so I need to go back over it with another round of green, touch-up the black, and then paint the visor, but here's how he stands now. Enjoy!

-
Well I went back over all the camo areas with green, touched up the black and the grey, painted the arm straps grey, and painted the visor. In my opinion, it's done. Hope you enjoy.

Looks great! You should hit it with a Matte Varnish and protect the paint.
-
They look amazing!
I'm not a big fan of many of the comics (I liked Tales) but I did get the Hasbro Comic Pack of the barron because I thought he looked cool enough to join the ranks.
Great job, the Kubrick of him looks fantastic!
CB

Should check some other Kubrick lines for hair.

Should check some other Kubrick lines for hair.
CB
Of all the other Kubrick lines I've looked at, the closest thing that I can find is the Arnold Terminator figure from the Terminator 3 box set. It's perfect, except that I'd have to paint it black. However, getting a hold of a 'reasonablly priced' T-3 set just for the hair is a bit unrealistic. I'm going to try my hand at sculpting it from greenstuff (acquired from BrentS) and see how that turns out before I do something rash like buy a $30 box set just for the hair...
-
Do just a basic Kubrick search on ebay, there are a ton of things.
Or Yahoo Japan, lines you could not even know of.

Thanks Doc. I appreciate the compliments and the advice on where to look for hair.
I decided to try my hand at sculpting first. I only had time to take this one picture, and will hopefully be finishing this tomorrow, but thought I post this WIP picture. Enjoy!

That looks great! I'm glad to see the greenstuff worked out so well. I can't wait to hear the details on the process.

You really outdid yourself on this one. The sculpting looks near perfect in my opinion.

The hair looks perfect!
Good job

Keeping with the Comic Pack theme of customs I started with Baron Fel, I decided to do a quick re-paint of the Series 7 Royal Guard to create Carnor Jax from Crimson Empire. I really wanted to do a cloak off version with all the armor underneath, but unfortunately unlike the Hasbro Royal Guards, there is no armor underneath the Kubrick cloaks. Oh well, this will have to do until I can figure out a good body to use as a base for a cloak off version. Enjoy!

As a teaser, I'm also working on a Luke Skywalker from the Heir to the Empire Comic Pack. I hope to have that one done by the end of the year...
-
Awesome, my favorite one so far. Great work. :)
-
Looks great. You did an excellent job getting the black paint so smooth. Not as easy as it looks. I really like the clean crisp lines around the helmet. It is a "simple" one but you did a great job on it!
-
Nothing else can described it further, its just simply amazing...perfectly a one of a kind masterpiece..

Those customs look awesome, I really like Carnor Jax. The paint app blends in very well, nicely done. 8)

As a Christmas gift, I just received an original "IamSith" creation:

Merry Christmas to me!

NOW THAT !!!! Is awesome !!! Happy Holiday to you !!!! ;D
-
I really like the Jax figure - that is your best one so far. Great job on the paint aps!
-
As a teaser, I'm also working on a Luke Skywalker from the Heir to the Empire Comic Pack. I hope to have that one done by the end of the year...
As promised, here's the Comic-Pack Luke and a helmet off version of the Series 6 Luke X-Wing Pilot. I ended up using the left over Series 2 Han and Series 6 X-Wing Luke pieces from when I made the Baron Fel to make the Comic-Pack Luke. You can't really see it in the picture very well, but I painted the arms and hands to match the face skin color, and painted the torso as a tank top instead of the v-neck that the Series 2 Han normally is.
For the helmet off X-Wing Luke, I was able to use the existing Series 6 figure and the TRU set hair from the Ceremony Luke figure. I just scraped off the chin strap from the head instead of trying a head swap. Enjoy.

Looks great! You did a nice job scraping off the chin strap areas. Glad the paints seemed to work out okay.
-
Very nice job, keep the customs coming. :)
-
Glad the paints seemed to work out okay.
Yeah, the Fair Shadow was a spot on match to the face color. I needed to do a few coats though before I was satisfied with the coverage. Also, it wasn't until I put the clear dull coat on that I was really satisfied with how it came out. Thanks again for letting me use more of your supplies... Looks like if I keep this up I'm going to have to get my own.
Very nice job, keep the customs coming. :)
Well, since you mention it, I'm already working on my next one... Ceremony Han from A New Hope.

Well, since you mention it, I'm already working on my next one... Ceremony Han from A New Hope.
I wanted to get this one finished earlier, but I've been spending more time downloading CD's than I have been customizing. I took a break from downloading tonight to work on this one though. I always thought that the TRU set Luke looked lonely without his buddy Han to keep him company. I was originally planning on just giving my wife a Series 2 Han since he's her favorite character. However, she said that she wanted me to customize it instead. So, since I had an extra TRU set Luke torso laying around, I decided to whip this one up.
I'm not sure if I'm done with it or not at the moment. I need to sleep on it I guess. Feedback is always welcome too... In the mean time, enjoy!

Having seen this on in person, its classic. Nice Job.
-
Looks good to me.

Here's another one that I've been wanting to do for a long time now, but couldn't get my mitts on an extra Hoth Han. Now we need Medicom to step up and give us a Hoth Luke and Leia to go with him!

I cleaned up the right side of the hood in back since I took these pictures and painted that white area brown. I need to touch-up the front left with some off-white paint, but other than that the only other thing I plan on adding to this is the VTAC Hoth Han hat/goggles accessory for him to hold onto... As always, enjoy!
-
Absolutely excellent...
-
Both those Han's look really good, nice stuff.

Great stuff.

Thought about what else I could do with my extra Scout Troopers and remembered the recent Hasbro Shadow Scout. I had fun painting this one up. Hope you guys enjoy.

I also have a teaser image from my next custom:
I'm just waiting on some paint to finish this one off...
-
Nice, I like the Shadow Scout. I think he looks good. Now you just need to get Bike for cheap (oh yea, that doesnt' exist :-\).
Good tease.

That is a good custom I Am Sith! You might also be interested in this Hoth Scout. Found on star wars wikia (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Scout_trooper).

I really wanted to do this ever since I picked up an extra Carbonite Han, however I couldn't figure out how to make it look like there was a layer of thawing carbonite over Han. Then BrentS suggested I cover the figure in greenstuff and then paint over it. It was a great suggestion and here's how I got to the final product:

And here's the transition from frozen to thawed out:
-
Tremendous! ;D
-
Looks great! I really like the way it turned out.
-
Thats pretty cool, great work. I would have never guessed that from the teaser image.
-
I was looking at your carbonite thaw one again. That should have been the Kube we got instead of the crappy block.
-
Thanks for the compliments guys. I had fun making that one.
I had one final Han custom in mind and finished it up last night after the Carbonite Thaw Han. I always liked the discussion about whether the Hoth Han coat is blue or brown. Obviously Medicom thought it should be brown in Series 4. But I always thought that instead of the Darth Vader with Luke face reveal chase figure we got in Series 4, we should have gotten a blue coat version of Hoth Han (like the blue and red Snaggletooth figures in Series 5). Well, here's my own quick re-paint version:

And the two of them together:

-
I like the blue one better :)
-
That is a great piece.
-
Thanks guys!
Since my next custom might take me a little while to finish painting, I thought I'd share a little teaser image for you guys. This one is by far my most intricate custom to date. I just hope it turns out as good as I'd like it to.

Well, I've grown impatient waiting for my paint to be delivered, so I'm letting the cat out of the bag so to speak. I think that it's pretty evident from the boards that I'm a huge fan of the EU, so I'm sure this custom comes as no surprise to some of you. I hope you enjoy what I've done thus far, because I know it's been fun putting this one together...

I've seen this one in person and I can say it looks better than the pictures even show :)
-
Wow, that looks great!

That is fantastic- nice work!

Finally got the paint I was waiting for! Here are the latest WIP's:

All I have left are the bantha skull, the red markings on his knees, shoulders and helmet, and the leg hoses...
-
Here he is, ready to stomp on Series 9 Obi-Wan and Anakin once they come out! I had a lot of fun with this custom, probably my second favorite next to Baron Fel. Hope you guys like him too.

Nice work on both of those man!
-
Durge looks great, keep the customs coming. :)
-
Well, interesting times here on the Kubricks boards with the release of Series 8, the Blue Stars figure and the Darth Maul set. Took some time tonight to do a quick Battle Droid repaint to create a Battle Droid Security figure. Hope you all enjoy.

Next up is a Battle Droid Pilot and an OOM-9...
-
Looks great! Just a little touch-up under his left shoulder and he's perfect.
-
Dude, that Durge is awesome. Great job!
-
:D that's awesome...very cool indeed...Army building of battle droids to attack on the Gungans.. ;)
-
So as promised yesterday, here's a Battle Droid Pilot:

The blue looks more washed out/pastel than it actually is in person, but I still might mix up a darker shade of blue and try it again.
-
Looks nice. I'm guessing the flash is washing out the blue color.
-
Just a quick OOM-9 custom before Series 9 shows up and I have clones to repaint...

These are pretty cool. You should take some Hasbro fig clone lightning and make one with boomer damage!

Ha! I hadn't thought of that. That would be a cool one too. I might have to buy one of my extras back from BrentS though in order to do so... I think he can spare one of the 17 or so he has...
-
Thought I'd paint up some custom Clone Troopers to go along with my Clone Trooper Commander and Battle Droid repaints. Here are a Lieutenant and a Sergeant:

I'm very pleased with the green, but the blue is too dark... I'm thinking of mixing up some lighter blue and trying it again.
-
I was messing around with my Kubricks today and created a simple alternate version of Jango from series 9. I simply popped/pried off the jetpack, slid off the helmet and then added the poncho from the TAC #57 Jango figure. I then simply enlarged the hole in the poncho and refit the jetpack, popped the helmet back on and presto - a AOTC cutscene Jango! Obviously, the jetpack is wrong but I'm fine with that. Pic to come....
-
Have any one thought about a obi clonetrooper custom? I was just thinking, what you would use for a cloak? And whats the best way to dismantle?
-
I know that I am Sith has that obi- clone on his list to make.

I decided to have ago at the clone obi-wan and came up with this, just need to get another series 9 obi-wan and change the head. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3068/2747800228_4caa6695ce.jpg

Thanks, The cape was from a dracula playmobil figure and the front was done in fimo then all painted brown :)

Oh Yeah Baby! Just took me a little longer to complete than I had anticipated.

Great stuff, these customs are awesome. 8)
-
I don't think I've publically commented on this custom. It is really well done. As you know, General Kenobi is one of my favorites as well!!
-
That Obi-Wan in Clone armor is awsome. Nice job! ;D
If anyone is looking for a few clones or a couple other kubricks for customs, I have a few left for sale here
http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=18016.0
I'm trying to sell of the last few I have since no one wants to trade. They are fairly cheap.
-
Any of you guys know if this is one of Bike Ride Tony's customs? The seller mentions an estate sale that they acquired this and other figures from, I was just wondering if anyone was familiar with his work enough to spot one of his figures.
Custom Carded Vader (http://cgi.ebay.com/STAR-WARS-KUBRICK-DARTH-VADER-ACTION-FIGURE-CUSTOM-CARD_W0QQitemZ180286746506QQihZ008QQcategoryZ49013QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
-
It sure looks like one of his... the card back looks right andf the "stand-up" part of the bubble is on top of Vader's head, just like Tony did with his:

It's been a while, so I thought I'd do a quick re-paint and a custom/re-paint.
Obi-Wan Kenobi from A New Hope when he's giving Luke Anakin's lightsaber and The Duel of the Fates Qui-Gon:

Rex is finally done. Hope you guys like it since it doesn't look like we'll be getting any CW figures from Medicom any time soon.

Good looking customs!
-
Awesome! They both came out great.
-
Wow, that shocktrooper looks terrific! Nicely done!
-
I got bored tonight so I decided that one of the Yodas I had for sale would look better if he had a Jedi Luke cloak. I wasn't able to get the cloak fully closed, so I might have to try my hand at another one of these at a later date. For now, this will have to do.

Love the different colored trooper versions. I wish Medicom would crank out more of these, there's certainly plenty to choose from. Glad we got Gree, but I'd think the Shocktrooper would have been officially produced by now.
Again, great job. Care to snap a pic of all your troopers, stock and custom, together?

Nice collection of custom troopers there I Am Sith. I think my favorite is the Stealth Biker Scout - that looks pretty nice.
A question for you (or others) on customizing Kubies. Do all of the parts just pop off or will they break? Do you boil and pop to get pieces apart? I thought the heads would at least come off easily, but I feel like I'm going to break the clonetrooper or stormtrooperhead if I pull any harder. Thoughts/suggestions?
Thanks!

For the Clone Troopers and Stormtroopers, you have to separate the torso in order to get the heads off. Medicom has added a nice lip to the neck post that doesn't allow it to be pulled from the torso.
I boil the figures for a few minutes to get the glue soft and then use an exacto knife to split the pieces of the torso apart. Good luck! Shoot me a PM if you have any additional questions.

I've got a question for all you customizers. I recently made a purchase on eBay for the Star Wars Mail Away Box Set which includes the Snowtrooper. I rushed my bid only to realize later that the picture included in the auction was not the actual set being sold and that the Snowtrooper figure had fallen out of a 5th story window of an apartment building! I'm a little upset with myself because I think I overpaid for the set but at the same time I'm still really excited to get the figures. Anyway the seller sent me pictures of the Snowtrooper and it actually looks like it is in a lot better shape then I expected. The only real problem is there is a deep scratch on it's head. So basically I'm wondering what the best way to remove/cover up the scratch would be. If you'd like a picture before making a suggestion I can provide one.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have!

Hey Jake,
Congrast on getting the box set for starters - that's a nice piece. For the Snowtrooper, I personally would just wait a year for the Deluxe wave to hit. That has a very similar snowtrooper and you can just swap heads. That shouldn't be too expensive in comparison and will look better than any kind of fix up job. Just my two cents. Good luck whatever you do!

I didn't even think about doing that. I'm sure the Snowtrooper will be common as well since most of the imperials have been, so that's a plus. I might keep my eye out for a single Stormtrooper as well in case a really good deal hits eBay, but ultimately I think I will swap the heads when the new Snowtrooper comes out.
Thanks a lot,
Jake

Hey Jake,
Congrast on getting the box set for starters - that's a nice piece. For the Snowtrooper, I personally would just wait a year for the Deluxe wave to hit. One think to keep in mind is that you're going to need to separate the torso in order to do a head swap. If you're careful when you're opening the torso you shouldn't be able to tell. Good luck!

Okay, so I was able to do the head switch I wanted, but after boiling and popping the arms off, I can't seem to get them back on. I'm working with a clone trooper and just want the same arms back in there, but the hole looks ridiculoously small. Any suggestions? I was able to pop the legs back on, but they are a little looser than I'd like. :-\

Very nice. I wouldn't mind having one of those for my Minimate "Man With No Name" Blondie figure.

Bumping this question to the new page...

When I can't get the appendages back on, I just make sure that the sockets are wet before I try again. There have been times when I've had trouble getting the legs to go back on, but the arms usually go back on without a problem. Good luck!

Well, I had serious problems getting the arms back onto the shoulder sockets. I tried water, boiling, even some vasoline to slip them back on, but no dice. The ball socket looks to be about the same size as the one used on the legs, but the hole for the arms is only half the size as the hole on the leg. I wonder if I somehow shrank the holes by boiling too long - my discarded obi-wan arms also look to have tiny tiny holes. Appreciate the tips all the same. ;)

So, based on all of the cool customs I saw here, I decided that I had to have a custom General Obi-Wan Kenobi Kubrick figure. This has been a troublesome four days in the making, but I finally have a finished Clone Armor Obi-Wan completed. I took a slightly different approach than some of the other customs on here and a few liberties on the outfit. For example: I hate the big white circles that pin his cloak to his chest, so I just went with the chain beneath the cloak. Anyway, let me know what you think!

Looks great Jman! I like the use of the cape and chain.
Sorry to hear about all your troubles with your arms too...

Very nice Obi Wan! ;D

These customs look cool! Nice work, guys!

Quick little custom of the poncho Fett image from ESB:

What a neat idea! It looks very good. 8)

Awesome on the Fett!

Not much customizing involved here, but I recently picked up a Metal Gear Solid Snake to make a custom Cade Skywalker from the Legacy series. Added the Hasbro gun and a Qui-Gon lightsaber and viola!

Nice job Jman. You trumped me... I've been working on one of these for a while but haven't had the time to finish it, but I think I may have just found a reason to do so...
-
That is amazing!
-
Wow - just went through the whole thread and there are some seriously nice customs in here! I gotta say though, Jman's General Kenobi takes the cake! Nice Work! :o

Thank you! He's definitely one of my favorites and relatively easy (which is good since I'm not much of a customizer).

There was something wrong when I set up Jabba last night and I couldn't figure it out until I put in ROTJ this evening. He was missing his sidekick and translator...

Also, as alluded to the other night, Luke with battle damaged hand from Jabba's Sail Barge...

Crumb needs a pillow!!
Someone needs to lay a Slave Leia down next to them too!

Crap, I have to get another 3PO now as that is a great idea. ;D

Had a couple of ideas for custom kubs. Not sure if I'll actually go through with buying the decal paper/paints and probably ruining my Lukes in the process, so I thought I'd post my mock ups here for fun. Happy Thanksgiving!

They look awesome! If you decide to do these, definitely post pictures!

Those are definitely great concepts! Luke sure did get the **** beaten out of him in the final acts.
-
A good head to use is the Kane face hugger kub. If you remove the face hugger the head has a good pained expression on it.
-
Nice concept. :)
-
Thanks guys! I'll probably start with the jedi Luke version-- i don't mind experimenting with him as there are no shortage of cheap extras floating around. My plan is to draw the face really clean in illustrator and then print it out on waterslide decal paper, then just turn the kub's head around backwards and transfer the decal to the blank side. For the lightning, I don't know if it would be easier to hand paint the bolts or make decals. I'd want it to look as clean as possible. Guess I'll just try it and see.

Cool, thanks. I was looking at the chest burster Kane face as a reference. Is face hugger Kane's expression different? MAybe I could just use that and tweak it a bit. I wanted Luke's yell to be more on the whiny side, not too gritty.
Also noticed that the hair on Dagobah Luke would be perfect for these.

been working on a few finally made some progress on one... Not much of a custom, but it makes it easily reproducible.

still need to
1. shorten the container
2. make him a vitals belt

Finally got around to a couple of easy customs I wanted to make using extra figures. Just a few simple head swaps for Han & Lando...
Had to take a new shot of my favorite custom as well fromt he Legacy comic series. Just a Snake with Qui-Gon Saber and Hasbro Cade's blaster...

Nice work! For a minute I was wondering why Han was holding a lightsaber...forgot about his Taun Taun maneuver, haha.
Nice background too. ;)

That background is slick. Can't believe I waited so long to open it...

In a wave a kubrick nostalgia, I was thinking about the characters who were never made that I would've most liked to see. Decided to create my own (digital) custom for probably my most wanted kub: Vlix! I recall he was heavily requested here on JD back in the day...hopefully you guys dig it. :)

Thanks DSJ! ;D

I would have killed for one. I loved these little guys. They were really fun for a while and then Medicom somehow took the fun away sadly.

I don't think its Medicoms fault.... I'd blame Disney but who knows.

Hey guys. I painted these designs for Force Awakens kubricks awhile back. For some reason I never got around to posting them here, so I figured I would now. Hope you enjoy!

Also I noticed that the old pics I posted of my Echo Base backdrop have broken links now, so figured I'd repost it here. Along with a rough draft of another backdrop that I never got around to finishing, hehe.

These are sweet. You should send these to Medicom with the subject line: "Hint Hint!"

MikeT, those designs are amazing. Really makes me miss these even more seeing excellent renderings like that! Well done!
-
Thanks guys! I had so much fun making these. Maybe I'll do a new wave when Episode 9 comes out. (Lando for sure!) ;D

I hate to make another post not about actual kubricks, but I noticed that all my old illustrations I posted are gone again. (Tinypic shut down.) Figured I'd post them all one more time, along with a newer one I never shared before (Luke's Island). Hope you guys enjoy!
