I'll looking to this Rub N Buff but I doubt I'll find any in the U.K.

Ah, Yeah, it's pretty hard to come by outside of the US. I live in canada about 40 minutes from the border and I still can't find any. If I find some I plan to use it on a jango though.

That's a pretty sweet Boba fett. Did you use Sintra for the chest armor?

That Artoo is looking pretty spiffy, too. Great stuff.

EDIT: Oh, and Kirk; I've got a suggestion for when you paint up your r2d2 dome. There's a products called Rub N Buff that has a colour called Silver Leaf. It's what is called a wax metallic finish and you simply apply it with your bare hands. All you do is take a little dab and spread it around (just a little dab covers so much space) and once it is spread, you buff and rub it with your bare hands to cause enough friction to warm it up. Once you do that, the Rub N Buff creates a layer of realistic-looking silver. Somethoign you couldn't achieve with any conventional paint. I've seen rub n buff used on fibreglass jango helmets and they look so realistic -- like polished metal!

Here's an example of something that's been rub n buffed:

The following is a comparison. On the LEFT is an unpainted cast aluminum Jango fett helmet. on the RIGHT is a resin-fibreglass helmet with rub n buff used instead of silver paint. (On a side note, I love how this guy even put the battle damage and dirtied up his jango helmet.)

Hey guys! I've gotten a lot of requests about posgin progress pics on my scaled Mandalorian armor. Finally I got off my butt and took pictures! I'll be presenting this in a step-by-step painting instruction for those who want to do what I did.

Step 1: priming

Get your desired piece and clean it off with soapy water, let it dry. After dried, cover completely with grey Sandable Primer.

Once dried, get a piece of 600grit ultra fine sandpaper and sand the desired piece until smooth. the result should look as such:

Step 2: applying a base coat

Once desired piece is properly primed and sanded, wash again wth soapy water and let dry.

After dried, spray 30 cm away with silver spray paint. let dry, repeat until piece has a completely covered look

The spray paint, being as far away as it was, will have gone on specked and flaked. This is no problem as it is expected. Wash in warm soapy water and wetsand using the 600grit sandpaper lightly.

Rinse and let dry. the desired look will be scratched, which is perfect.

Step 3: further sanding

Wet your 600 grit sandpaper and sand until surface is incredibly smooth. wash in soapy water again and let dry.

The end result should look patchy and sort of like a car's paint job you'd see at the beginning of "pimp my ride"

Step 4: final coat

Get in within 3-5 inches of the desired piece of armour and use your silver spray paint to spray, doing so in a linear fashion, using long, sweeping strokes to cover all of the armor. Do not touch until completely dry (depending on what kind of spray paint you use, it will be from either an hour to a few hours to a day to a few days)

Result will not be very smooth, but do not sand, hand wash with soapy water, rinse, and let dry. This should smooth the armor out as much as possible, and the end result should look like this:

And, just for reference, here's every step altogether:

I must stress that this result is for spray painting and the result will depend on what spray paint you use. I used what I could find, which honestly is not the best looking, but gives a desired effect.

This paint job is a temporary one for me, however. I'm planning on using a wax-based metallic finish on my complete armour: Silver leaf colored Rub 'N' buff brand is what I really want to cover my armour with. it gives a more realistic finish than any spray paint could, but it is VERY, VERY difficult to find here in Canada. I am told they used to have it at michaels, but it has since been called back.

In the US, I believe you can find these in abundance at Hobby Lobby and if you want to look for it, search in the antiquing area and what you're looking for is called Rub 'n' Buff wax metallic finish and the colour you're looking for is Silver Leaf. Once i find this, I will work on my armour immediately and post the results.

EDIT: Here's a link to the product I'm speaking of

that's a sweet looking jango mod, Glassman! I've been wondering when someone was going to use that face sculpt (which is my opinion is the best representation of temuera morrison's face)!

Once i get to finishing my jango, I'll post it up :P

Its Friday.  Chewie promised 5 customs (he's delivered 4), 1 Rykrof Chapter Re-Do, and 1 Rykrof new chapter.  :)  You have less than 12 hours  ;)

It's like an episode of "24"!

ThePerennial,
Is that some new video game coming? That looks awesome.
roron corobb

yeah, it's actual gameplay, too. I was reading an article about how it works and they're using the latest technology for it. no loading times, no freezing up, and no sacrificeing of graphics to do so. no word on anything else about the game other than just that trailer. the running name for it is "Force unleashed", but it's not officially the name.

I'm not in the loop for everything we're doing for the UGP, But it's to my knowledge that it's taking place in between episodes 3 and 4, right? And as such, the imperial occupation will consist of troopers with clone trooper bodies and stormtrooper helmet, right? I think we should keep it this way, as This video retcons it :D. Watch it, it's so freaking sweet!

As far as the local security force; it's going to be very difficult to choose, as everyone has come up with such incredible ideas for it!

Conventions / Re: 2006 San Diego Comic-Con

This may be a desperate fanboy in me, but did anyone at comic con get a better look at what this said?

The first part (I'm hoping) looks like it says "Mandalorian". Could we be getting an EU mando in the near future? Probably not.

Actually, upon further observation, it looks more like "Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes" Is this a multipack?
