Original Trilogy Collection / Re: Vehicle discussion/speculation!
« on: August 11, 2004, 01:06 PM »
I've read elsewhere that this one will also be a Sams Club exclusive, much like that Falcon with the extra figs. No clue if it's true though.

OK, I'm in now. Suppose I should try to defend my title eh? Not that my team name won't add to those already gunning for me.  :-*

Now we just need one more to make it an even dozen teams.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: What Are You Playing?
« on: July 13, 2004, 10:51 PM »
Currently playing Shenmue II for Xbox, a game I've had for a year and half.

No clue what I'll move onto next as I wait for Fable, KOTOR2 and the new GTA game this fall. Might go back and try to finish my season of MVP Baseball 2004.

Other Toy Lines / Re: What are your other toy 'grails'?
« on: July 13, 2004, 10:43 PM »
I guess I don't really have much for grails, since there is so much I still want that it would be a rather lengthy list.

However, the closest thing would be the LEGO UCS X-Wing, as it, along with the 3 japanese mini sets, is the only LEGO set I'm missing from having pretty much every single set put out to date.

There are never many on ebay at any one time and they usually run in the $150-$200 range for MIB sets, which is what I'd want. I'd rather not take the chance of missing pieces on loose sets. So I'll just continue on having a 99% complete LEGO collection for the time being.  :-\

Well, for vehicles, I'm doing quite well, as I've picked up the Tie, Vader's Tie and X-Wing.

Not so hot for figures. I've picked up a lone Biker Scout. One of only 2 figures I've seen so far. And that's one figure at each of 2 different stores.  ::)  The other was a beat up Obi-Wan Kenobi, which didn't cut it for my MOMC collection.

LEGO / Re: 10131 Pictures
« on: June 15, 2004, 02:20 PM »
If these are legitimate pics from LEGO then where is the disclaimer at the bottom of each photo that says "Copyright 2004 The LEGO Company. Use without permission not allowed." ? The pics of the new Falcon that LEGO released earlier this year all had that disclaimer on the bottom. So there is one thing that doesn't feel right about these pics.

Secondly, if the set 10131 is indeed to be $120, that pic of the 4 ties is not even close to being $120 worth of LEGO. Each Tie originally retailed for $20, and DV's Tie and that drone would be around the same as well if sold separately. So make it around $80. But then you're only getting 2 mini-figs so it's probably about a $75 set, comparitively speaking.

So either that price is false, the pics are false, or there is more to this set than is shown in the above photos (a bomber and/or interceptor perhaps?). Either way, something just isn't right here. And if those pics are indeed what the set is and it is $120, count me out on getting it and therefore it being the 1st SW LEGO set I don't buy, which would be disappointing to say the least.

LEGO / Re: 10131 Pictures
« on: June 15, 2004, 09:08 AM »
I think these haven't been "officially" announced by LEGO and therefore, could be fakes for all we know. At least that is what I'm hoping for, as this set does little for me.

Another reason why I'm not buying it as being what the real 10131 set will be, the MF, X-Wing, Landspeeder and Snowspeeder sets, of which all were re-released, were completely redesigned for the new sets. These Tie's look almost identical to their original release. That doesn't really fall in line with the past re-released ships. Also, the Tie Drone ship would be EU and LEGO does not have an EU license as far as I know.

Too many things that seem fishy about these pics to make me buy into them being legit right now. Also, 3 manned Tie's and only 2 figs? What's up with that?? Since when does LEGO release sets that don't have enough figs to pilot all the ships in a set.

I deserve it because I, umm, saw it first.  :P  The card itself was just in the sealed bag that the box was wrapped in and not in the box itself. Interesting that they are doing it 2 different ways. And actually the 2 busts that arrived here were #'d 227/228 with 228 being the one I opened.

LEGO / Re: Kabaya Star Wars Lego
« on: May 26, 2004, 12:16 PM »
Well, there is finally some info and pics regarding this item over at FBTB.net . It is indeed 3 mini LEGO sets that are promos and seem, as of now, to be Japanese exclusives.

The 3 sets are Boba Fett's Slave I, which is similiar to the series 1 Slave I mini, except a couple different colored pieces, I think. Then there is the X-Wing, which seems to be the same as the series 1 model. And an all new Tie Intercepter.

No word yet on if or when these will be available in the states.

Thank you everyone for the  birthday wishes.  :)

Just so everyone knows, Jim does have full clearance to break another light, this time in the guest bedroom.  He also has a quasi-new saber to do it with, right mr. Vader? :-*

Right you are on both counts. But nothing is going to be broken this time. It's just not the same when you can do it on purpose.  ;D

Interesting bit of info regarding Hoiberg. I attented college at ISU pretty much the same time he did and we even had a same class together. Marketing 340, it was. I even recall sitting directly behind him a couple times. Who'd a known he'd be a key part of the Wolves bench at the time.  :)

You could teach Scott some good lightsaber wielding techniques...   :-*

I think I should master it myself before I go and start teaching others how to break stuff wield a lightsaber.  :P
