Don't like how Battle Packs are around $26 these days ... for four repacks? No way. As much as I loved the TLC/CW Jabba's Palace, Scramble on Yavin, and whatever that Hoth set was called (Hoth Patrol, I think?), I didn't get them. Missed out.  :-X

At my Target stores, BAD and CW figs are $9 flat, including tax. I like it better when they were $7 before tax ... I remember that at my Target, a little after prices went up with the debut of the BAD/CW lines in 2008, prices went down for a few months so that they were once again $7-8, but went up again. $9 today isn't too bad, but at my local Walgreens, just in my neighborhood, a basic figure is $11.49 BEFORE tax! What's up with that?!

I've seen it but haven't bought it. The $45 is a meh for me. Like the vehicle though - plus a figure and a ladder? I should pick this up. Wasn't this set to commemorate something special for ROTJ?? Don't remember - I think I heard Hasbro say in a Q/A something to this effect.

I wonder when we'll get Wolf Sazen ... you know Hasbro's probably making him somewhere in a secret bunker under top surveillance without telling us fans. And a Jariah Syn would be welcome. And Darth Wryylok. I wouldn't mind a Darth Maladi vs. Shado Vao pack from the Vector arc of Legacy.

I'm surprised Hasbro goofed up with the Walmart Commando set - Alpha is a blue ARC trooper! The box art depicts him with red colors ... ok, Hasbro?  ??? I like the set, though. And you can just make up a different name for that "Alpha."

Good figure - alas, he's out!  ;D

However, Hasbro SHOULD limit IMMG quantities ... I still have that itching feeling he'll be a pegwarmer. Maybe not a YARNA, but not an instant seller for some people, either...

Yeah, I finally saw the Yoda.  He looks to be sporting the Soft Goods that comes with the new Animated Clone Wars Yoda.

It is (at least I think). The figure itself is from the 2007 TAC Yoda with Kybuck set. I originally thought it was the 2005 ROTS figure (the one with the cannon), but with a new head.

And Kit Fisto isn't smiling ... wassup with that??

I absolutely LOVE the Tatooine and Vader sets - the Clone Wars sets are, well, suckish... c'mon, Hasbro, this was the perfect opportunity to upgrade that pathetic Bane sculpt.  :o  I actually thought Jocasta Nu would be included, and we do not, NOT need that Yoda again! And that Jedi Showdown BP is a sore reminder that Hasbro is aiming the BPs for kids now...  >:(

The Tatooine set could do with the Evo 2005 Maul (with maybe a retooled torso  ???) instead of the Saga Legends figure, which is actually still on shelves. And although it fits the context of the set, re-releasing the Qui-Gon with the poncho while the exclusive Eopie offer is still going around is a bad idea. WOW, HASBRO. Really.

The Birth of Vader BP is both collector/kid oriented. Nice set, I'll try to pick this one up!

Target also has vehicles for $17.99 until 10/9. (That's a long sale.)

Pretty good, considering vehicles in these days are - what - $19-20?

I heard the Amidala is the disappointment - uses the legs of 2008's Breha Organa. And her hands are too chubby  ??? and instead of having a powdered face, her face is flesh-toned. Ouch, Hasbro, ouch.

The Original Trilogy / Re: Obi-Wan's non-cauterizing strikes...
« on: September 3, 2009, 03:05 AM »
It's blood. I think that some of it has to do with the thickness of the body they are cutting through. Maul's torso/waist it pretty sizable when compared to Anakin's arm in AOTC, Dooku's wrists and head in ROTS, Mace's wrist in ROTS and Luke's wrist in ESB so Maul's "flesh wound" wouldn't cauterize nearly as quickly.

The wild card obviously is Ponda Baba, but maybe Aqualish are more vascular than humans so they're "bleeders" in comparison.

Also IIRC, the Wampa in the ESB SE had a fair about of blood loss after Luke's handiwork as well.

Good point.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: How does Padme REALLY die?
« on: September 3, 2009, 03:05 AM »
I always thought that Anakin should have been responsible for her death.  Before the PT, I had such a romantic notion of Luke and Leia's mother being a heroine.  I always had the story in mind that she died while somehow trying to protect the children.  I had a notion that she had sent Luke to the Lars' and she went into hiding with Leia - and was killed trying to flee/protect Leia from Vader/his henchmen.

I LOVE this theory - I could totally imagine Padme dying trying to protect the twins ... and she is such a strong character, why would she just drop dead?  ???  I don't think Lucas had to kill her just to keep continuity with the OT.

Ya know Celeste Morne - the one in KOTOR comics alongside Zayne Carrick who gets controlled by the Muur Talisman in Vector, the female Jedi with the long shiny black ponytail, pale skin, and yellow lightsaber - right (anyone out there)? Shouldn't she have died in Rebellion, on that moon where she confronts Luke Skywalker and Leia? OKay, here's where you need to keep up.......

So in KOTOR, she is possessed by that Muur Talisman amulet, and is placed in a status casket. Fast-forward four centuries later, when's she found by Vader, ALIVE (why the h*ll is she still alive, anyway?). She duels him, defeats him, and remains stranded on said moon. Fast-forward another 20 years, when she eventually meets Luke. During this duel, the amulet springs off her neck - PAUSE! - how come she doesn't die here? She's been sustained for nearly 4,000 years, give or take a few more. At this point, shouldn't she have died, since all that power/magic that the Talisman provided her left her? She's eventually killed by Cade Skwalker in Legacy, and she turns to dust, since she's been alive so many years. It's confusing, but shouldn't she have died instantly as soon as the Talisman sprang off her neck?

This question is mostly for those who kept up with the Vector comic arc, since they will know what I'm talking about. Anyone that can challenge my ideas regarding this Jedi Knight?

A question to Sith/Ventress fans out there - everyone's favorite evil, lightsaber-wielding damsel appeared in The Clone wars, but in the Obsession comics she's "mortally" wounded by Anakin, and eventually disappears into the unknown. Prior to this, Anakin showed just how much he hated her in a duel on Coruscant, as he wrapped her in electrical wires and sent her falling hundreds of feet (quite frankly, I don't even know how she survived that), but not before getting his facial scar by her (the one seen in ROTS). That's when Dooku rescues her, and she appears in the Obsession comics. Why is she in The Clone Wars, which seemingly takes place after her near-fatal duel on Coruscant? Anakin already has his scar, and Asajj mentions in a deleted scene from the movie that she's been looking forward to fighting him again. Anyone know the REAL answer?  ??? Don't really know how the The Clone Wars crew will be able to resolve this issue in terms of canon ... is she a Star Wars version of Frankenstein? Did that "anger/hatred powering the will to live/survive" (like what Anakin did on Mustafar) thing work in this case?

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Why would Lars take in baby Luke?
« on: August 31, 2009, 09:44 PM »
Don't forget that at this time Obi-Wan thinks Anakin is dead. It isn't till the end of the Dark Lord novel focusing on Vader that Obi-Wan hears Vader is alive. So, to Obi-Wan, it's just a matter of hiding the child from Palpatine. It isn't until later that Vader realizes the kids survived and he has the opportunity to find the children.
