I guess it all depends on who you ask this question to really.  I've seen big fights break out other places over this issue, so it's refreshing to see such a high level of civility and tolerance here in this discussion so far.  I agree with most of the comments made in this thread too.  I think just using some common sense on what seems fair to take off the pegs works best.  Consider the other collector's needs in your area, and how new and/or abundant a particular army building figure is, before deciding how many you'll be buying on any given trip.

I also agree that this shouldn't even be an issue in the first place, if Hasbro just played it's cards right, and made enough army builders to satiate demand.  There's so much money to be made with these types of figures, yet no matter what, it seems that there's never nearly enough to fill the demand, and that's just not good business sense if you ask me.  Top army builders should get shipped in solid cases for a while, so the army builders to buy to their heart's content, and all the rest of the collectors and kids can buy the one or two that they want also.  No reason that shouldn't be a manageable strategy.

I'd also strongly suggest not using army building figures as limited exclusives, like the Target Clone, because that's just always going to lead to problems.  Hasbro should just go back to putting out those white mailer boxes with 4 figures in each one, and everything would be fine.  Why is that so hard to do now?

With all the exclusives being released for the 4" line since Midnight Madness, I thought I'd take an informal poll to see where everyone stands so far.  For the most part, I don't seem to notice the panic and hysteria here at JD that I've seen on other boards regarding many of these items, so I'm guessing most people are relatively caught up with most of them.  That wouldn't be terribly surprising though, since it seems like a lot of collectors here really go out of their way to help eachother out, which is pretty cool.  So here's my current tally so far:

Early Bird set - Yes

Lava Vader - Yes

Holographic Yoda - Yes

C3 Vader - Yes

Target Clone - No

TRU Anakin Starfighter - Yes

Kohl's Bonus figure vehicle sets - No, but not interested in them.  Not totally sure these are even Kohl's exclusives at this point though.

Did I miss any?  I really hope Hasbro slows down on the exlcusive insanity soon, since it's really a serious pain to try to keep up with them all.  The Holographic Leia is coming in a couple months, and I think I've seen rumors about more Target Clones coming in other colors.  But aside from those, I haven't heard of any other exclusives on tap so far, which is relieving.

So where does everyone else stand on these so far?  All caught up, or are some of them still eluding you?

Prediction:  That will be given out as a poster at the Hasbro booth at C3, similar to the Saga one handed out at C2.    8)

Good call!  Now, did anyone wind up with any extras of these posters from Hasbro's booth at C3?  I'd like to try to get one for a reasonable price or trade, so drop me a line if you can help.  Thanks!

So we're up through #44 now right?  Nothing found beyond that?  Plus, the four new Deluxe figures too.  Well, being all caught up was fun while it lasted!

Judging from all the reports I've read at the different sites, the Star Wars line isn't going anywhere for quite some time.  As unbelievable as it originally sounded a while back, it's now looking more and more like Hasbro's seriously thinking they're going to keep the line running through the end of their license in 2018.  I'm guessing there'll be some slower times mixed in there too amongst the TV and 3D movie hoopla, but all in all it sounds like Star Wars is here to stay.

As for the 4" line, that's Hasbro's bread and butter, and from their failed experiments with other scales since Episdoe 1, I'd fashion a guess that they'll be sticking with the same scale.  They just need to continue to improve upon their figures, in articulation, likeness, detail, etc.  If they can just do that, the 4" line should eventually yield every last figure we've ever wanted, and that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside!

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Target Figure with Cup Sets

I've only ever seen the Obi-Wan set

Me too.  I'm wondering if I should be getting a little nervous now since it's been a whole month and there's still not a Grievous or Clone cup set to be found anywhere near me.  Are you guys having better luck where you live, or is everyone in the same general boat with these items?

I just want to keep my cup set complete, so hopefully there's more on the way in the near future.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: 500th commemorative figure... Vader?

I noticed this figure was on display at the Hasbro booth at C3.  Looked pretty sharp from the pictures I glanced at.  How'd it look to you guys who saw it up close?  Please refresh my memory on the price point and due date as well.  Was it going to be $10 or $15?

Also, did Hasbro ever address how they were coming up with the #500 on this thing?  Looks like they're pretty far off on that number, unless I'm just missing something.  Doesn't detract from the fact that this is a great looking set though.  I just wish the top of the chamber was a real piece of the set, and not just the packaging, but I'll live.

Go Nuggets!

The Nuggets pulled off a nice upset in the first game against SA, only to get slapped around hard in game 2.

That first game was great, and I'll admit surprising too, even to the Denver faithful.  Of course the Spurs got some serious payback in game 2, but I'll take a split in SA anytime!  For whatever reason though, the playoffs just seem to be lacking the usual pizazz this year.  Maybe it's just due to the lack of usual starpower though, like you mentioned mosnab.

My prediction is that it's going to come down to Suns/Spurs and Pistons/Heat, with the Spurs and Pistons going to the finals, and the Spurs taking it all.  But when I go to sleep in a few minutes, the Nuggets will be winning it all, in my dreams.  ;)

The Vintage Collection / Re: Tonnika Sisters coming?
« on: April 29, 2005, 05:42 AM »
Sorry, but I think the whole hookers angle is rather silly too.  Hasbro's said for years it's just a licensing issue with the actresses.  I'm sure if there was a problem with the characters they portray in the films, they would've mentioned that at some point, since it wouldn't be all that big of a deal to address a topic of that nature to a lot of adult collectors to appease them.

I'm just glad that a Tonikka sister is finally coming.  Hopefully Hasbro surprises us and goes ahead and makes them both, or offers them up like the blue and red royal guards with one of each version.  If not, my feeble customizing skills will manage.

So if Hem's coming too now, I want to see Givins and Bom Vimdin make it next!

After seeing the pictures of these from C3, I've got to say that they look outstanding!  Are there any more of these sets beyond these three in the works right now, or even rumored?  With that kind of detail and articulation, I can only pray this line continues, since these seem to far surpass the regular carded figures, and are much more along the lines of the VOTC figures.

I'd love to see a bunch more of these, like Padme, C-3PO, Leia, Luke, Obi-Wan, etc.  Did anything more come up on them in the Q&A, or is this all we're getting?

Hey Dash.  What kind of Star Wars stuff do you collect?  I'm the resident lurker, but like to pop in on occasion and welcome the newer folks so I have more to read.  ;)

Beer drinking antics aside, I've got to say that after looking through the two C3 picture threads here, and seeing so many group shots of the JD members throughout the convention, it really seems like the comraderie I see around these forums extends far beyond just the online posts here.

Am I reading that right?  Seems like a lot of you are actually good buddies outside of this site, and that's really a very cool thing to be a part of here.  I've looked through a lot of the C3 pictures at other sites to see what all I missed out on, but I have hardly seen any group pictures of lots of forum members all hanging out and enjoying eachother's company.  The total lack of personability was one of the reasons I wandered over here from Rebelscum, and it's like a different world here in that respect.  Just cool to see that, and wanted to make mention of it.  Hope they've got a C4 sometime in the future so I can partake with the rest of you someday, when I actually know you JD party animals a little better!  ;)
