Title: Vintage ebaY auction wins!
Post by: aka DaBigKahuna on June 15, 2003, 12:23 AM
Hello, tell me what you think.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2178173815&category=33820&rd=1

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3134349082&category=2475&rd=1

Are these repo microphones and flute.  Other's I have seen have silver mic's and a black flute, this auction has the opposite?

Thanks,

Matt

Nice score on the Jabba+  I was contemplating that one as well.  Glad you got it. :)

Well here we go.
Auction #1.
Nice price on the comic. I have seen it go higher.

Auction #2.
Jabba's Throne: Jabba'a arm's look discolored & look like one rope is missing of the front & its also hard to tell if Jabba's pipe is there.
Y-Wing Fighter: The top gun is missing but the rest looks intact & have the bomb. A plus there.
Speeder Bike: Looks good.
Rebo Band:  :o Awesome score. Its complete & around the price of what I paid for my band when I started.
As for the instruments, I looked at my set & they have the 2 black mics & the silver flute. There are 2 colors to the instruments. Read about them here:
Rebo Band Set (http://www.toysrgus.com/images-toys/figuretoys/rebo.html)

The parts missing can be found on eBay. All you have to to is search for them till they show up.
All in all, I will say well done. Heck of alot cheaper than I paid for mine.  ;)

Also, won an auction for issues 1-3 (35 cent cover) sealed in a bag from 1977.  These are referred to as the Whittman reprints.  All 3 for $12.50 shipped!

Some say they are harder to find then to original 30 cent cover issue.

By the way I received the 30 cent cover in wonderful condition!  Looks like it just came off the racks.  Take care all.

Definitely a good score!

I think on the speeder bike there are suppsed to be flaps on the back.

Not sure if they are there on yours, but over all it looks in good shape, as you often see those broken.

Nice capture Brent, compete figs too.  As far as being cheap, your perspective is the right one.  Patience will pay off and with so much more important things then Star
Wars collection, being frugal is wise.

I changed the thread name to just wins / so we can keep each other posted on our ongoing quest to collect vintage figures.

A couple more wins:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcISAPICommand=ViewItem&item=3134880878

I'm nervous about this once since the guy has no feedback and e-mail has
come back to me undeliverable.  In my request for total I asked him how much more to insure and delivery confirmation.  Any other tips on how I can safeguard myself since he only accepts money order or cashiers check?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2179037422&category=3981&rd=1

Absolutely thrilled about this!  This is a hard find.

I'm a little leary of that seller with a zero feedback myself. Though we all have had to start somewhere, IMO I would be nervous. You can use this page to get information from eBay on the seller. Read the Privacy Policy first before you use it. They will give you information on the seller just incase.
Find Members (http://cgi3.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?MemberSearchShow)

He has had that auction up before when I checked his sellers history.
Sellers History (http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcISAPICommand=ViewListedItems&userid=skwalker55&include=0&since=30&sort=2&rows=0)

As for being safe with money order & cashiers cheques, I'm unsure what to do. They can be traced to see if they are cashed but if you get ripped of, then the process of fraud may that awhile.
Heres the link to the Internet Fraud Complaint Centre:

The comic looks like a good price.  :)

Hey Dale, thanks for the feedback.  Well I checked that page and it looks like he relisted the all three item's since the reserve was not met.

I sent him quesitons in the request total.  So we'll see.  If  I don't hear from him I won't sent the money.  I just hope he does not get the nerve to leave negative feedback.  I have sent him three undeliverable e-mails to date.

Take care.

This did not turn out so bad as I learned to tell the difference between repo's and original weapons.  The guy even threw in the only figures that had original weapons:

Klaatu, Lando Skiff, Emperor, Nien Numb, and At-At Driver.  Plus an extra staff that I need for Nixto in the 1st auction below!  I will end up paying about $20 in shipping so for just over $3 a figure and the lesson, I am fine with that!

I think the very first auction that you won for $80 was a good one, but I would not have bid on an auction where the seller has ZERO feedback.  Did you receive the goods already?  Hopefully you didn't have problems with him/her.

I am very jealous about the auction with the AT-AT Drivers and Snowtroopers... seeing as those are some of my favorite figures.  You did a great job with that one.   ;D

All in all... great job!

I recently won some auctions on eBay for the first time in 4 years (hadn't really been trying until recently) and got some nice deals.

- A loose blonde Tatooine Luke near mint, just has a couple of scuffs on his hands, but is really nice and white for $6

- A pair of loose battle damaged vehicles, the X-Wing and TIE Fighter for $35, in overall good condition, but missing the BD stickers :(

- A Droids Side Gunner complete w/ box, instructions and planetary map for $40. Problem is the large grey "wing" on the side is getting to be  a nasty yellow and I cant figure out how to take it off and swap it with another Side Gunner I have.

Whoa, nice trades.  Lots to go.  Trying to be marginally prudent with money (thinking about moving ::)) so I'm going slow.  I think Jim (chuckles) is sending me the 20 or so I've gotten off ebay this summer.  Add that to the 32 I have here now, so maybe half way.

I'm hoping to get some nice McFarlane variants/chase in the football cases I ordered and will likely take them straight to ebay to build some cash.  The hot variant, whatever that may be, in a given football series can generate around $100 US.  Now that all depends on whether I get it or not.  If I do luck out, it would essentially mean I can take what I pay $10 for and turn it into $100.

Still ticked about the auction I won for a complete minty Amanaman with staff and coin for $50.  Didn't meet the reserve :'(

DSJ I know,

I bought them off a board where the seller had no feedback, and was concerned because I had to send a money order.  For the price, I decided to take the risk to try to get closer to completing my collection.  The leia gun's, cc communicator, and other weapons...all vintage!  Figures in A+ condition.

This one worked out big time!

I have one word Patience.  It has paid off, I wanted to buy a lot of my figures earlier, but decided to wait.

I got a Blue Snag for $40, Luke Stormtrooper (basically free) in a trade.  I had to buy the helmet for $35 though, but $35 for a well conditioned Luke Stormtrooper ain't bad.

Most of my figures I got for under $5 complete, and landed a bunch through trades.

Patience...

I needed about half of these, so even 10 with weapons is good for that price, IMO.  Condition looks ok and I believe I see an Imperial Gunner down in the corner.

Good, bad or just average?  I think the latter, but it does fill a number of holes in ye olde vinty collection.

Looks like an Imperial Gunner to me!  8)  Even has the weapon, 3rd row, 3rd bottom from the left.

Very nice score IMO!  ;D  The Gunner alone is worth $35. plus!

Some parts from the Weapons Packet, 4 back packs, 4 weapons, 1 grappling hook & 1 utility belt.

Well, I was hoping it was good, but didn't want to come right out and say so, lest I make a fool of myself.

I've been fortunate to go slow and have lots of holes in the vinty collection, so lots like this are helpful in lots of ways.  I am ecstatic about the gunner and hopefully it is in good shape.  I'm really thrilled about the weapon being there too.  I needed 17 of those figures, so worst case scenario was $2 a piece.  A couple of the others could be upgrades too.

Looks like 14 weapons so maybe 14 absolutely complete.  No idea about the sabers though.  I'm hoping the Ben is fine.

I really was planning to not buy anything in the short term, but after looking at my last 17 thread, I just couldn't let it go by :)

This is my latest win and I think I scored pretty good:

Tie Fighter (http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3156786838&category=49008&rd=1)

The sad thing is before I bid on this the seller had a Ewok Battle Wagon MINT with the box, instructions, and planetary map for a BIN of $40!!!!!!! This thing could go for $200++ in that condition.

I was ready to bid but decided to investigate the feedback, and read the auction a little more carefully and when I went to bid it was too late. So I checked his other auctions and kept refreshing untill the Tie came up. I also passed on an X-Wing mint with box for $25. Those BIN's are scary, if you don't buy it right away it's gone, but if you do and don't fully read the description, shipping, feedback, etc, you can get burned.

have you received these yet? just curious, because to me that imp gunner looks like a potf2 version and not a vintage one. i hope it's vintage and not potf2, but my eyes are telling me different. even still, if you needed 17 of those figures anyway it was a great win!!
Title: Re: Vintage ebaY auction wins!
Post by: Morgbug on November 27, 2003, 11:48 AM
You have good eyes :(  That's a POTF2 version, sadly enough.  You can see it pretty easily by looking at the helmet, yes?

I griped at the guy a bit, a couple of the weapons aren't vintage either, but still, for the figures I need it works out to around $3 a piece, so it's ok.  And another imperial gunner is fine too.

Slightly OT, but is anyone else finding Ebay to be slow lately?  The last couple of times I've tried sniping auctions, the pages have been super slow in loading.  It's not a huge deal since I probably shouldn't be spending the money anyway, but I lost a couple I would have won, and that's sort of irritating.  Basically I need to bid with about 45 seconds left to get the bid in.  Any less time left and I won't make it.

I'm on cable and lots of other places are much, much faster (though JD seems to be slowing down).

Well, I finally got these (they arrived promptly at chuckles' place, I just got them up here now) and I'm kind of , feh.  So-so condition to say the least.

Jedi Luke has the dignitary nose rub.
Hammerhead is fine, moderately tight joints
Dengar is awful, well played with
Cloud car pilot needs cleaning badly, any suggestions?
Bespin Leia is fine, but no cape (none in the pic either)
FX-7 is fine, but I already have one
Death Star Gunner is POTF2 but the more, the merrier
Skiff Lando is ok, but incomplete, already have
Bespin guard is fine, pretty damn big head on this guy
Klaatu(?) ok but paint rubs on fingers, already have
Greedo is in excellent condition
Lando is smiling.  Strangely, there are two Landos, both smiling.  The pictured one has no cape, but the other that arrived does have a cape ???
Jawa is fine

Bossk is very beat up with lots of paint rubs on the back
Band member is in great condition with no instrument
Gamorrean guard is in great condition
Luke X-wing is pretty bad with not much paint detail left
Star Destroyer Commander is good, though I didn't need another
Sandpeople is good, but cape is ripped, paint rubs on hands
Vader is a throwaway, no cape, no saber
Ben is very good.  Blue saber, tip intact, paint is clean, grey hair
Chewbacca is interesting.  Body is different color from limbs, bag is green ???
3PO is marginal, but still better than the one I currently have
R2 is dirty but decent condition, strangely I don't have this version
Leia is disfigured in a place she shouldn't be.  it's embarassing - garbage
Hoth Luke is a throwaway, paint is quite bad.

Backpacks are all there as is a single grappling hook around a belt.  All the guns pictured were included as was the Collections booklet mentioned, which is a nifty little extra.  One of the weapons is modern, probably from the DSG but I'll have to check.

The Gam Guard is complete and minty ;D
Ben is complete and minty ;D
Lando's gun came, to match up with my other smiling Lando which is now minty and complete ;D
Greedo is complete and minty ;D

AFter that I have 9 weapons that need homes.

12 total figures I needed or upgraded.  Some other are decent trade bait.  Overall, well worth the price.

The DSG is a dissappointment not being vinty, but still a nice figure to add to the army.

Hey DSJ,

Not me.  I have been trading for the last few figures to complete my loose collection.  10 to go.

Patience has paid off for me, and with a recent acquired second part time job,  less time to search for ebaY bargains.

Are you trying to complete a micro set?  If so, how far along are you?

2nd one I have, the other is a boxed Y-Wing. I would love to have the rest carded & boxed. I only have the set loose thus far. A boxed Tie Bomber would be nice but... :-\

Summer's almost here and I'm close to caught up on modern.  Going to have to go hunting.

Like those BINs Matt. Wayne sent me a couple of carded vinty figs at Christmas with the intent of opening.  I nearly cried when I opened them (cards were quite bad) but man, brand new figures, what a difference!

Lots of holes to fill.

Here are a couple Blue Snags I won over the last little while:

Look for the little guy in the top left. I still am yet to receive these and I'm not sure if it is in baggie or not. Even if not it is still a great price. The ROTJ case is nice bonus as well.  (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3182944152&category=50277&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBWN%3AIT&rd=1)

Not a great price but this guy is really in at least C9.9 condition, no wear at all. I needed to upgrade my C8.5 one which was driving me nuts because the rest of the collection was pretty mint.  (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2475&item=3182689698)

This Landspeeder usually goes for twice the cost. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3184920162&category=50272&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBWN%3AIT&rd=1)

That's what I figured Dale, if the Blue Snag is sealed it just really sweetens the deal, if not I'd say still say the stuff is worth $250-$350.

The Jedi case has to be worth a decent amount as well, you just don't see too many of them around. Any idea on the value of a ROTJ case? I couldn't find a single one in the completed items section on Ebay.

It may look expensive but with only 3 known examples in the world, its a great score. After the auction 2 people asked the seller to change his mind and sell it to them for double the price. The bad part is I knew the people who asked him. Lucky for me the seller had integrity.

You are very correct its number 2. In the eyes of most Uzay collectors its a very very rare piece. Only the Headman and Snowtrooper are rarer or as rare. I thought it would be a great addition to my focus plus I half-heartedly want to put a Uzay collection together. I saw someone else just list a couple of Uzay's on ebay but his BIN prices seem way way way overpriced. I hope no one gets suckered into the chewie he has up. The seller claims it to be very rare which is not the case at all, at least in comparision to Uzay MOC in general.

It would seem so.  That makes 4 ::) :-X

I just really couldn't pass it up at that price.  I don't remember exactly what I paid for the other loose one, but probably $5-7 more.  I'll probably just put this one back up on ebay with a $13-15 BIN.  I bought it because it's from the same seller as the Barada, so shipping didn't go up.  Also the DSG was same seller, but didn't win.   :-\

My ebay is full :-[  But won't buy anything I don't think is a good price.  Just seems to be a plethora of last 17 out there right now. :)

Will do sir.  I'm hoping my lot from last week is in.  Always nervous before getting the lots.  Sure, they look great in the pic, but when you get them in person, sometimes :-\

And I definitely have holes right now.  I'm not paying enough attention to the earlier stuff at all and almost bid on a Paploo last night :-X  Stoopid Ewoks, especially considering I already have a Paploo.  I may just go through them all so I can make a list and see what I'm satisfied with.  I really like the thought of poorly carded figures to open, but they end up pretty high.  No luck with carded BINs like you've had.  Curse you Wayne ;D

Still no luke stormtrooper lot after today :-\  I'm sure it's in transit and likely held up in customs.

Oh well, to compensate for it... (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3192243058&category=52335&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBWN%3AIT&rd=1) I seem to be a wee bit out of control but liked the price, $0.51 under my max.

I can't help it.  I got a money order today from selling off some vintage captain action stuff, so $200 to the tv fund and an Ev-9D9 for me.  And the prices are pretty low this week, at least it seems that way to me.

This one  (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50281&item=3188488105&rd=1)turned out to be a very, very nice win.  I'm always scared after bidding on lots.  This one had a decent assortment of figures and the pictures were pretty good.  I love the supersize option, but never use it when I'm selling either.  In spite of the pics though, as we all know, it remains a crapshoot until the items are in hand.  This one turned out very well.

The ship/transport is nice and man, is it huge :o  I had no idea, but I suppose Kenner thought it should be reasonably big enough to actually hold figures and play with them.  Neat concept.  My transport is pretty dirty though, so any suggestions on cleaning are most welcome.  I fear the yellow staining won't come out though.  I hadn't intended to collect all the vintage ships so this may make it's way back onto ebay at some point.

The gem of course is the Luke Stormtrooper and it is indeed very nice.  Some minor staining/yellowing along the front of the legs, but otherwise nice and white.  The legs and arms are indeed a little less white than the body but not noticeable unless you hold it in sunlight.  The helmet is a very nice white with just enough tiny amounts of wear to have me believe it is indeed original.  The blaster is original, as were all of the weapons listed.  Joints are all nice and tight :)

Leia Boussh is also very sweet.  Joints are tight but for the left leg, she still stands solidly though.  Helmet and overall figure are very nice and clean.  This was a figure I did not have, so getting one that doesn't need upgrading is a treat.

Leia Bespin is nice too, but not quite as nice.  A little bit of hair rubbing at the front and some paint loss on the back of the hands.  Cape is minty as is the weapon, so very pleased here too.

Non-smiling Lando is good, but has a stain on his right leg.  Noticeable, but I'll keep him.  Smiling Lando also came and in better shape.  I'll have to compare him to the one I already have to see which is better.  Both capes are great and as indicated earlier, both weapons are original.  Very nice.

Cloud car pilot is a nice upgrade for me.  The limbs are a little dirty/yellowed but it is indeed better than what I had.  Both accessories are present as well.  I may upgrade it at some point, but this was considered a bonus in this condition.

Lobot (of duplex fame) is a very pleasant surprise.  I did have one, but no weapon and with considerable paint wear.  This was a gamble that also paid off in a very nice upgrade.

The Vader is in excellent condition.  Just a slight bend to the saber tip but otherwise minty fresh.  The one Wayne sent me to start was a nice piece, but I fear this may well end up being an unexpected upgrade.

Red snaggletooth is another figure I did not have.  The paint is very nice on this one with only one or two tiny, tiny paint rubs.  Very good condition.  Sadly his blaster is the same as Bespin Luke, and I wanted to upgrade that figure more, so I'll need to track down a blaster for him.  On the upside, the auction included a spare stormtrooper blaster that goes with none of the figures, so an extra weapon was included, just the wrong one.  Not a complaint at all.

Anakin (yes, one of four I own) is excellent in terms of paint but his legs are a little loose.  Stands easily so I may keep it or have no compunction about selling it as being in good condition.  have to compare him to the next loose one arriving later this week ::) ;)

Bespin Luke is a considerable upgrade from the free one Scott sent me (thank you).  Strangely, his limbs don't match the tan of the body very well.  Is this normal?  Either way, the paint is very good on this one with only a little fading on the black of the belt in the back.  The hair and face paint are excellent.  As mentioned above, I placed the blaster with this figure and he has an original lightsaber so pleased, am I.

Endor rebel commando is quite nice.  From the status of his arms, loose but still poseable, he saw his share of action.  It must have been in a heavily carpeted jungle though as his paint is immaculate everywhere except his face.  It's almost surreal.  The face isn't really all that bad either, just shows some age in the sense of a little fading/dirty.  Possibly cleaning it will restore it's lustre.  It may just be a really effectively done paint app by the factory.  Still, a good figure and probably will end up as another unexpected upgrade for me.

The Emperor is a ncie piece.  One finger tip paint scuff otherwise minty.  But I did not need an upgrade as I've ended up with two or three very nice Emperor's.  This poor fellow is likely to end up sold in a lot and having his cane is a nice touch.  My lots will only have probably 25% of the weapons included so the cane being there is helpful.  Love those yellow eyes.

8D8 is nice and had I not received a MOC version from Wayne, this would be a good piece.  Slight yellowing is going on with the limbs, but the joints are pretty close to as stiff as the MOC version I opened (don't worry, the cards were crap).  I guess no one ever played with poor 8D8 as a child.

On the other hand, it would seem IG-88 was very fun to play with.  Probably the loosest jointed figure of the lot, the paint is still remarkably good.  Both weapons are present and it's quite likely I will parasitize his blaster for another figure.  This one will end up in my lot with only his rifle.  I have lots of rifles lying around, I suppose size does matter :-*

The Bespin Guards are in excellent condition.  I don't think I need to upgrade, but these may be worthy.  Both with weapons, so that in itself is an upgrade for me.  Sweet.

The ugnaught is probably the disappointment of the bunch.  It's not bad, it's just not good.  I hadn't really paid any attention, so was hoping for a blue smock, but this guy is the purple and it has a stain.  He did come with his case though and I need that, so it was beneficial to be in there.

Another disappointment in one sense is the R5.  It's ok and I've seen way, waaaaaaaaaaay worse on ebay, it just isn't crisp and clean.  I don't think I was expecting it to be, just hoping for that upgrade I need and this isn't it.

To end on a positive note, Orimaarko is in excellent condition, complete with robe/poncho/hoodie, whatever it's called.  Weapon is there too.  A nice piece for the upcoming lot as I don't need an upgrade.

This is easily the best lot I have purchased yet.  Two last 17 figs and two complete Leias with a horde of other needed figs.  Very sweet.  Twenty figs, all but one complete and a ship for $150 delivered.  Can you say positive feedback?

Scored a Lumat today for $13 and change.  No bow, but I have a spare from another auction.  Knock off another.  Picked up Klaatu skiff and Logray yesterday for just under $10 dlvd.

Hey, I've got to do something while I watch last 17 auctions go beyond my price range.   :P

Brent,

Very nice score on the Lumat; consider yourself extrmely lucky on the extra bow.  I have been looking for a Lumat bow for several months with absolutely no luck!

Lumat (figure o.k. condition) with bow for $11.00
Anakin (appears high grade) $6 and change

Only $3 shipping for both.

I finally got a bow...

Wowzers.  In certain respects, I should have jumped on it.  I know when I finish the vintage collection (which isn't that long from now I suspect) I'll probably chase that one.

I need a few upgrades (my snowtrooper has no skirt) but not that many individual holes left.  Here's my list from the top of my head of what I need and what I hope to pay for them:

Yakface - under $100 preshipping
Imperial gunner - anything under $40 is good for me
Warok - would like to be under $30, but under $40 will do it
Lumat - I checked the bow again - repro :'(
Romba - under $15 - I lost an auction yesterday because I had to be away from the computer, but it was in this range
Blue Snaggletooth - around $80 for a nice piece.

There's less than 10 non-HTF figures left for me to obtain.  Some of those are a good Leia and a good original Luke as well.  But I should be able to fill the remainder of the holes for $100 or so.

I've very happy with the A-wing pilot/lot auction.  That netted me a few more weapons I needed and a couple of figures I needed, all for the cost of the A-wing pilot.

I'll have a pretty decent assortment to sell off regarding extra figures at the end of it too.  May be able to generate a couple hundred back from that.  That should go to the TV fund.

I also think I'm going to turf the trilogo hunt.  Some pieces are just too much to even think about.  I may opt for a carded ROTJ collection, but we'll see.  I'm just not that big into carded stuff anymore.

I shipped out a couple of McFarlane variants yesterday, so the A-wing auction ended up being a net zero effect on my paypal account.  That worked out well.

Here's what's left:

Leia
Han
Rebel Soldier Hoth
Snowtrooper
Yoda - could use and orange snake and a second cane
Rebel Commander Hoth
4-LOM
Tie Pilot
Squidhead
AT-ST driver - have trilogo carded but need loose
Romba
Imperial Gunner
Warok
Yak Face

Matt,

only because my mom and dad were kind enough to drag my childhood toys around for 30 years :)

The daddy warbucks label sure fits, but this has been quite the treat buying like this.  Yes, I'm using money that's real, but it's not at all impacting my personal finances, which is quite the blessing.  Without those old toys, I sincerely doubt I would have any of the last 17, let alone be this far into it.  I am very fortunate and have an advantage few people would ever have.  All thanks to my parents.

100 figures???

That's the original line, last 17, blue snag, wind up R2, Rebo band and the three legged R2?  Am  I missing anything there?

(BTW, thanks for the offer of the free figures, but I don't need them.  I'd only turn around and sell them and that wouldn't be right, so I'll duly pass)

Nice mail day.

Got my Amanaman and it was a true steal of a deal.  The figure and staff are minty as can be.  Coin is in good shape as well, but not convinced I'm keeping it.  Yet.

Imperial Dignitary came and paint wise it is mint.  Nose is nice and clean.  The joints are a little loose, but I can live with it.

Rebo band needs some cleaning up, but is very nice as well.  Need a flute though :-\ but cannot complain at that price.

Yoda came with his brown snake, but I need a belt and the appropriate cane for him.  My other Yoda has a cane, but no snake, though it does have the belt.  I can have a Yoda, complete but it's a little mismatched.

Great mail day.  Great. :)

Brent, you should be fine as I know of no replica stands and mics in existence.  I was fortunate enought to get my band with black mic's and a silver flute.  This variation is VHTF IMO.

Good luck on the flute, just add a ebaY search in your favorites and one will pop up.  That's how I got my authentic Luke Stormtrooper Helmet ;D!

Yeah, for 2:00 on the cane you can't really loose out.

The mics are silver/grey.  Please tell me these are real.  I hadn't even contemplated reproduction mics.  Sob.

From RS:

Accessory Mould Variations
Each of the accessories packed in the Sy Snootles and the Rebo Band three pack has a mould (or in the case of the organ, a spray op) variation. Each of the accessories (save the organ) was moulded in both black and gray plastics. Every known example shows that the Black Moulded Musical Instrument was exclusively packed with the Gray Moulded Microphone Stand and Music Stand, while the Gray Moulded Musical Instrument was exclusively packed with the Black Moulded Microphone Stand and Music Stand. The organ was produced with both bronze and gold spray ops. There is no indication that either version of the organ was packed exclusively with either of the accessories mould variations. There are no documented examples of all black or all gray accessories being packed together.

You are fine Brent. My sealed set has the black mic's w/ gray flute, my old loose set which I sold when I upgraded had the gray mic's.

Your's are gray so that would mean you need a black flute.  ;)

Well that was fast to rectify itself.
Crappy box, but it claims all parts are present.   (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5903429829&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1)

Beat out bidder by name of Simonp301 on this one, but that's ok, he got me big here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5902705045&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1) :o

I think he got a very, very good deal on that auction.  Though I think a few of those weapons might be repros even though it indicates otherwise.  Ree-yees weapon is a little too gold for my tastes.

In other news, I went through and rearranged ye olde SW room today and went through the vintage stuff.  As I near completion of the vinty stuff, I'm ready to upgrade some pretty rough figures.  They aren't horrible, but dirty or loose joints or are missing a weapon or accessory.  To make my list that was getting short, here it is longer:

Luke Skywalker
Princess Leia
Han Solo
Yoda (orange snake and cane - must follow fish lead)
Hoth rebel commander
Tie Pilot
Death Star Droid - better paint, tighter joints
Han Hoth - gun only, but could use better paint
Jawa - gun only
Leia Hoth, - gun only, but could use better paint
Luke X-wing - complete, but need better paint
Stormtrooper - need a crisp white one (or two)
Squid Head
Nikto - thought I had it, but guess not ???
AT-ST driver - could open my trilogo - not
Romba
Lumat bow - mine's a repro :'(
Teebo ax
Logray - need weapon and headdress :-\
Chief Chirpa staff
Blue smock Ugnaut
Warok
Yak Face :(

I've got a decent assortment of spare weapons at the moment too, but not all that useful.  Two repros - Leia gun (came with my Rancor Keeper :-\) and my aforementioned Lumat bow.  Boo-hoo.  Otherwise I have the following that all seem original:
Snowtrooper/Dengar rifle - appear to be trilogo version
Zuckuss rifle
IG-88 rifle
AT-AT commander rifle
Stormtrooper etc. blaster x2
Luke Jedi Pistol (Lando General) - black, hey fish, whatchou got? ;D
Paploo Staff
Romba Spear

I seem to have a spare modern Yoda cane as well that showed up with an auction win ::)

I'll use those to outfit any spares I have when I sell those off, but if anyone here needs them, LMK.  cough*fish*cough

I thought the same thing about that Ree-Yees rifle and that vinyl capped Jawa's cape seemed too big.

Did you e-mail the seller before auction close about the authenticity of the Jawa?

Not an ebay win, but I picked up the following figures in very nice condition for $30 shipped:

complete yoda orange snake
complete stormtrooper

loose complete hoth rebel soldier

So I now have two upgrades for my figs, one of the missing figs and have an orange snake Yoda to go with the brown.  Cool.

BLUE SNAGGLETOOTH FIGURE C9 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5908237860&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT)

Now I have both boot variants. For those that don't know what that boot variant is, it's the right boot. There is a dent in the boot, also called a toe dent.

Here is a pic from the auction that shows the dent.

I'm trying to spare myself the pain of upgrading at a future date.  To be honest, I don't own one simply because I am amazed what people will pay for one.  I think the price you paid is great, for that kind of condition, but I've seen versions with boots that are almost completely blue go for nearly $100 lately ::)  Really nice pieces are up and over $130 with some crazy guys with $150 BINs.  I can wait a long time for this piece and for Yak Face.  At least 10 of each are auctioned off each week, so no hurry at all.  I'd like to be done, but then what would I do ;)
Title: Re: Vintage ebaY auction wins!
Post by: Morgbug on July 9, 2004, 01:37 PM
Just received my Warok today.  I point this out for two reasons: one, I have a question and two, I want to mock my luck.

1.  The one I got is a carded Warok but the bubble is trashed.  It is pretty much completely crushed along one side and torn open at the top.  I can almost pull Warok out of the bubble, but for his rotundity.  I knew it was coming this way, so no disappointment at all.  I got it from a guy on snowtroopers and he was completely up front about things.  The question is this: does anyone know if you can remove the bubble completely with goo gone or something of the like?  The card is in ok shape but the blister detracts from it.  If I can maintain it as well as I can, that would be nice.

2.  I paid $45 CAD for this, so a little over $35 USD.  That, relative to recent ebay anding prices, is remarkably reasonable.  I don't recall seeing one end for that little of late, so being able to pull a last 17 off the card for loose display is nice, plus the coin is mint as well.  The mocking part comes here:  I fully expect to see several loose, complete Warok's go for well under $30 in the next 10-14 days.  Just you watch ;)

In general that has been my luck with stuff.  As soon as I get a figure and at a seemingly good price, prices for that item fall.  Keep in mind I've been watching for about a year now, so I do have a decent idea of the prices.  It happened with the Lando general, although in that case I was so deeply scarred that I actually won the second Lando on principle as well ;D  The price was about the same, but it came in a small lot with 7-8 other complete figures, so a bargain.

My bargain scores have been the following:
Luke Stormtrooper - nice and white and complete.  Got him in a lot and paid about $150 dlvd but also picked up 20 other good, complete figures that upgraded my collection substantially.  Also picked up a rebel transport, which I may yet sell.
Amanaman - C9.9 beyond a shadow of a doubt for $45.  Figure, staff and coin look like they came off the card moments earlier.  I couldn't find a thing to complain about.
R2-D2 popup - $65, I've seen cheaper, but this is one of the few items I haven't seen cheaper after I bought it and has been going at $70-95 of late, so I'm pleased.

Otherwise stuff has been pretty average.  The good news is most have been in quite good shape so no real upgrades necessary.

Carry on.

Wow, that's a nice little haul for a guy who hates Ewoks!  ;D
:-[

It's worse, I tried to win his other lot as well, but my fat fingers missed the decimal point, prompting a screen from ebay asking if I really wanted to bid more than $5000 :o

The other lot had a complete Romba, this one is missing the headdress.  I'm missing a couple of weapons and a headdress, that's mostly why I bought the lot.  Plus I've seen Warok go for that much alone, throw in a Lumat and it was a bargain.  Can't pass up a bargain.

The question is this: does anyone know if you can remove the bubble completely with goo gone or something of the like?

this is something i've been trying to figure out for years, for custom purposes. i've heard two theories, neither of which has actually worked for me. however, i've been attempting these methods on modern potf2 era figures, so you might want to give 'em a shot. maybe the vintage stuff will work.

(1) put the figure inside a plastic bag and leave it in the freezer for a few days. the cold air will dry out the glue on the bubble, and you should be able to pull it from the card with very minimal tearing.

(2) using a heat gun, heat the card from the back around the area where the bubble attaches to the card. again, the heat is supposed to dry the glue to a point where you should be able to just pull the bubble right off the card with little to no tearing.

now, like i said, i've tried both of these methods. neither worked out too well for me. another alternative would be to use an exacto knife or razor blade and just trim the main part of the bubble from the card, leaving the part that gets glued down right where it is. not the most attractive look, but it will remove the bubble.

good luck.

Not a bad price I'd say (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5908542664&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT).  The last 17 are done, except for a hood for Romba.   :)

Not a bad price you say!  :o

I was buzzing around eBay a short time ago & I happened to check out Yak faces. It was sitting at around $57. with that zero bidder. That is an Awesome score Brent. I have seen as you have too with no weapon & paint scuffing go for more!

Romba's are cheap right now, there's one sitting at $9.99 with 1 bid & 10 hrs. to go.

Now go get a Vinyl cape Jawa & from a member you know. That way it's authentic & not a fake.  ;)

Oh yeah, that damned vinyl cape :-\  Here I was ticking down my list going damn, I'm close but not quite so close as I thought.  Authentic would be good.

Looking over my list now, that Ewok auction above knocked quite a few things of the list, notably weapons.  I have to wait for them to arrive to make sure they are authentic, but I should be close.  I am watching that Romba closely, so we'll see what happens.  I just had to go through my watched items on ebay and knock out all the Yak Face stuff, plus I have to turn off the new listing emails from ebay now too. :)

That Yak Face was just the same as the Amanaman you steered me to.  No indication it was vintage in the title, so a basic search for Yak Face that brings up the bone necklaces, POTF2 stuff (all listed as POTF) and other assorted crap was what I was culling through and it paid off.  $42 pounds sterling delivered, so just under $80 US, a tad over $100 Cdn.  Pretty damn pleased I am.

Here's what's left for me right now (and you shut up about red haired Luke's):
Han Solo small head
Han Solo big head (got one, but bad paint :()
Luke Skywalker brown hair
Bespin Luke brown hair
Death Star Droid with tight joints
Jawa vinyl cape
Jawa regular blaster
Ugnaught blue smock
Romba - just need the head thingy, but I suspect I'll buy the whole figure, giving me three speers, two Rombas and only one complete
Squid Head

sooooooo close.

Yeah, yeah.  I know about the hollow cheeks tusken, I keep looking real close at those figs ::)

I've got both hair colors of Bespin Leia, apparently there are different head paint colors of Bossk ::), already seen the craziness of Madine (thanks Billy Boy); rocket Fett (not) is out there; different biker scout head sculpts; red coat Bib; tan limb Klaatu; Ackbar vests; and I'm sure a host of others.  Red hair.  Sheesh.

Something more legitimate I need is a blue saber Luke Jedi.

Yak Face has arrived.

And darned if he isn't in really, really nice shape.  Joints are nice and tight (I'd be surprised if the legs had been moved much at all, they are really stiff).  No paint loss on the body, legs, boots or hands.  Two little skiffs on the right shoulder, one on the left.  Head is very nice but just a little dirty.  Little bit of black around the nostrils, otherwise minty fresh.

Great packing job too, very well cared for.  I am very happy with this one, it really was a steal.   ;D

Very nice score Brent.  I am all but setted in to my new home and will be posting some more now.  Isn't this a great piece?  When I got mine, I just starred at it for a while because of all the history behind the piece, and the fact I had never seen one in person.

It is a really nice piece Matt.  This would be one that fits the much nicer than modern description.  It's just so different, but the detail on the head sculpt is just super.

I'm just out of room and if I use the stands I have for these, I'll be out of room completely, so something needs to happen.  The vintage and modern figures deserve to be displayed better.  I may actually start bagging these things up for our inevitable move some time in the next year.

I will never understand ebay buyers.

Here's a blue saber Luke Jedi (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5915935067&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT) ending today.  It looks good, the gun looks authentic, the cape is nice, but not a snap.  It ends by the time you see this, it's way up there.

Here's the one I bought (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5915237862&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT)  Hmm, pic not showing up, but it's carded and the card is a little rough, but I was 80% sure I would open it anyway and wanted a nice, mint one.

Now, I've seen them a lot cheaper, but ain't this wacky?

If you look closely at the auction, you'll see the base is a tad rough, a few tears/holes in the name label.  My base is perfect that way, so I'll simply be pulling the background off that and putting it on my stand.  Throw the base in with a lot of stuff I don't want.

I intend to display the first 12 on that stand at some point.

At first I only wanted the Logray and intended to sell the other 4 and so get my Ewok for "free".  But when they arrived I couldn't give up my 5 near mint clear-bubble palitoys! Even the 2 Tri-Logos were in very good shape.

A better Han big head arrived, authentic weapon.  The drawback is he came with a Klaatu, rather than Klaatu Skiff, which is what I bid on.  No response from seller >:(

Blue saber Luke arrived at Jim's.  No doubt it's an opener now ::)

Brown haired Luke Bespin arrived.  Nice shape, arms are quite loose, which is okay with the description but the weapons are repro.  got to check that in the auction.
Title: Re: Vintage ebaY auction wins!
Post by: Morgbug on October 9, 2004, 01:33 AM
Pretty funny stuff here.

I never rush Jim to send stuff up, so I finally got my blue saber Luke this week.  Indeed, as Jim described it was an opener.  The card wasn't/isn't too bad but the bubble was yellowed badly and thrashed even worse :o  It's not a big deal to me really, I just wanted an absolute mint Luke Jedi with blue saber.  When I opened it up, much to my surprise and delight it was the snap cape as well as the blue saber.  FWIW the gun is grey.

And since I didn't update it, the seller that sent me the wrong Klaatu never responded.  He did however send me another Klaatu, the correct version. :)  Wouldn't have minded an email though.

Also arriving was the Ewok lot.  Jim had indicated that one bow was broken and he was correct, sadly it was an original bow.  There was another bow, a grey repro, in with it.  But even better, there were two other original brown bows.  So I picked up my bow for Lumat there.  It was a good lot too, giving me a lot of parts I needed plus a Lumat to sell with a broken bow and a good repro bow (the original would be an easy fix, it's a clean break) and a complete Warok to offload.  Also had the Macau variant ::) mixed in as well.  Nice stuff, a good win.

FInally my Romba showed in absolutely minty shape.  So my Romba with spear and no hood has been replaced by a complete, mint Romba.

A few major variations to go plus a few odd weapons to fill in and I am done.   :)

Title: Re: Vintage ebaY auction wins!
Post by: DSJ™ on October 9, 2004, 02:59 PM
All depends on what your budget is, how much are you willing to spend on a certain figure. Try checking out the foreign market, France, Germany, Netherlands, UK...

Sometimes sellers list there auctions by posting in there own countrie listing but may ship internationally & it will not show up on the main search. Thats were I found a few of my last 17.  ;)

Even look at figure lots, they may produce some results. Look at the hit counter to see how many people are viewing as you may not be the only one watching.  :-\

So many ways to find stuff, even a miss-spelling of a word or letter can bring something up & putting the words together or breaking them up, eg: Blue Snaggletooth = Blue Snaggle Tooth.

Searching takes time, patience is the key in finding stuff. May take days, weeks, months or even a yr. or more  but when found... 8)

Wanna buy a carded Ewok?

BTW, the biker scout is the last thing I need on trilogo.  I already have a pretty immaculate one, so I'm not sure what I was thinking.  Just saw what looked like a good deal and went with it.  I expect most of that lot will end up back on the bay :-X

I can take King Gorneesh of your hands. I only have Ugrah Lady Gorneesh & Dulok Shaman thus far.

I jumped on that Sise Fromm, like you said, he has gone for more. So far I have Fromm, Thall Joben, 3PO & R2. If I can get Tig Fromm out of the way, the rest should be easy.

If I can complete the Ewoks and Droids figures this year, I will be very happy.  :)

I keep toying with the idea of whether to do the Droids line or not :-\   3PO, as you know, is quite a pain.  The rest, aside from the good fellow you just picked up are pretty easy and have been on ebay lots of late.  Ewoks, not surprisingly, are of little interest to me.

Well you're after loose anyway, aren't you?  It does seem a pity to pull something off a card that is 20+ years old anyway.  Not that it would stop me, but the bubble would have to be really yellow or the card trashed (or if the figure just fell out the bottom ::))

Morgbug,
I really hope that transaction worked out well for you.
The seller is a well-known scammer.  His name is Shaun Neinast (formerly Decadetoys).
If you're not familiar with him- he has a long rap sheet.
-shill bidding
-selling fake prototypes
-re-sealing figures and passing them off as original seals
-covering damage with price sticker

He has created a new seller ID (onetofivedayauctions), but it's the same guy.
I would advise everyone to steer clear of his auctions in the future.

Best of luck,
Andy

Hi Andy,
Thanks very much for the warning.  I do sincerely appreciate the help on the issue.

I've been very fortunate that Dale has taken pity on me and been guiding me through the vintage mine field for the past year and a bit.  He's been most helpful in passing along links to me to pass out both good deals and scammers alike.  Unfortunately (perhaps) the identity of onetofivedayauctions didn't come to light until after the auction and though it should have (from stalking RS' vintage forums) the name Shaun Neinast didn't click in when I received the invoice.

Now, the good news.  I already have my figure.  It was shipped quickly and the shipping price to Canada was more than fair, no jacking up the cost there.  The figure I received is pretty much identical to the one in the photo, I'd say it's exactly the same figure.  It was also very well packed and as a Canadian, the declaration price was helpful in avoiding customs fees ;)

The only real remaining question is whether the weapon is authentic or not.  I'm mailing the figure out to Dale to take a look at but at this point, I have no real complaints.  I fully understand the guy's history, but I seem to have been lucky, at the very least.

Again, thanks :)

^^ Yeah I know; that's been known to happen.  If RS shifts gears again, hopefully it won't purge all the old messages.

If you have anything to add to the list, lmk.

Thanks,

So clearly I didn't see that, but I think I know who won it.  Do we need to talk?

I ran out of patience (http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5191759011) especially since the last cane ended at $15.00 US by itself.  I'll just resell the Yoda without the cane and make some money back.

I just won this bad boy last nite... Amanaman POTF Last 17 Vintage Star Wars - C9.8+ (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5972949475&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1)

This is the most I have ever spent on a single vintage figure in all my years of collecting. Add to this the $20 or so I'm going to be spending on his staff from a buddy of mine and it will almost triple my max amount on a figure. But it's worth it I think, once I get him, only 8 more figures to go... :P

Yeah not a bad deal I think, considering how much I see Amanaman normally going for. I'm surprised I got it really, what with all the insane prices due to impending ROTS release. Really people, broken down pos klaatu's aren't worth $100!

I look in the vintage new today plus the BIN section and sub-categories. I also look by typing the name of what I want in the main search engine.
Title: Re: Vintage ebaY auction wins!
Post by: Morgbug on May 24, 2005, 10:42 AM
Mostly I look in the specific category, since I'm not looking for much more than Droids figures at the moment.  Otherwise I do a general search for something like "vintage Yoda".  It returns all the VOTC (and lots of OTC as well >:() but tends to return all the potential items I may buy.

That seller didn't take paypal, something that seems to knock down the price most times.  They also had multiple items ending within seconds of each other.  I was able to get a bid in on the Kea Moll as well, but didn't go high enough.  That said, she still went for under $20, much cheaper than most.  In retrospect I should have gone for that instead since Jord Dusat is often cheap. Oh well, all things in time. ;)  I'm more than half way through the Droids now, I think all I have left is Jann Tosh, Kea Moll, Sise Fromm and maybe one other.

Well done DBK!
As for my collection, I still need the following:
 - R2-D2 w/pop-up lightsaber
 - Yakface (of course)
 - Luke Stormtrooper
 - Blue Snaggletooth
 - EV-9D9
 - the Carbonite for Han in Carbonite

I'm not counting the vinyl cape jawa or the Droids/Ewoks cartoon figures  ;)
The only figure from my list that I came close to owning was the R2-D2 w/pop-up lightsaber which was purchased about 30 minutes before I got to the flea market (this was about 12 years ago).  Oh well, considering all of my figures (except for my 1-armed 8D8 figure) were purchased secondhand at flea markets and Collectible toy shops,  I don't think that's too bad.

Guys,

Thanks for the support.  I went the cheap route on my collection and bought some complete figures and some figures with no weapons and than bought lots of weapons to complete my figures.

The later was both educational and frustrating.  I consider myself darn near an expert on the repro weapon issue so if anyone needs some input let me know.  I had to earn the knowledge!  Dale can probably remember one of my first threads, a panicked one as I bought a lot of figures and something like 35 out of 40 had repro weapons :o!

2/3 of my collection was purchased from a great guy named Randy from the old Google Boards.  I bough in three lots and he sold each figures to me as a lot price of $2-$3 each including some POTF figures!  All were in C9-C10 shape.  I don't know what I would do without that deal.

All in all it was fun!  I have a total of 17 variations and will keep my eye out for more.  Personally I like the OT movies a lot more that the PT movies and there is so much sentimental attachment to this line for me.  So much so that I sold all my modern stuff and all I collect is the following:

Vintage
Rebel Storm Miniatures
Kubricks
Clone Wars
Code 3 Mini Poster Line

Gregorbian,

My advice to you would be patient, if you can to get those pieces at a price where you would have to donate a body part.

Cheers,

DBK

That's a pretty good deal you had DBK  ;D
I bought some repro weapons for custom figures that I'm working on (they work perfect for customs but are so easy to tell from the originals I'm not worried about accidently putting them with my real vintage weapons).
Patience is definitely the name of the game when it comes to vintage Star Wars stuff.  The Amanaman and Imperial Dignitary (and a Barada that I got a few months ago) were my first real vintage purchases in about 8 years (not including beat-up vintage figures that I used for customs) ;) .  Hopefully I'll finish off my vintage collection soon, but it's much easier to buy each piece one at a time as opposed to bidding on tons of POTF figures at once.

I do not know how I missed that auction, but great for you.  I'm glad I did not see that auction and inflate the price for you as I know I would have bid on it.  I had the gun and figure but was only missing the cape.

I paid $40 shipped for a complete one as I got tired of looking endlessly.  Well maybe not endlessly as I was looking for two years.  You = 10 :o.

Thanks DBK! Yeah for 10 years I looked high and low for the cape, but couldn't bring myself to buy a complete one, I figured I'd eventually find just the cape. Then I got fed up and started to look for a full figure, but then I came across this one and I was like yeah I'll go for it. This is actually my 3rd Gen. Lando, I had one as a kid, which is how I got the coin, but I lost everything else, then the figure I've had for 10 years, and now this guy. Yeah it definitely is weird right now. I find things which have no right being so high in price, like a lot of 20 or so common C4 figures going for $300, but then I'll see POTF figures which commonly go for $100 going for $40-$50. Just got to catch the good deals as they happen, as I think they're becoming more prevalent than in recent years, maybe due to so many people trying to capitalize on the ROTS release that it's having a price lowering effect on many items...

Naturally I still need Kea Moll ::)

I did a "completed auctions" search for both of these before I bought them and I think I got a decent deal, but what do you "experts" think?  ;D

Well, I'm not an expert by any means, but those look like good deals to me!

I know at one time ROTJ Vaders were going for $75-$85 (pre-ROTS) and Luke stormies were right around $80.

Unfortunately I was cleaning out the fridge and forgot his Kez Iban auction :(

The guy has filed a non-paying bidder action against me.  Already.  He doesn't take paypal and took two days to respond regarding shipping to Canada (which he won't do).  Have fast is mail supposed to travel with a weekend in the middle? >:(

See if you can send him his payment and have him ship it to someome in the US.

He may not have Paypal, lot of people don't.

No, no.  I already got his response two days after the auction ended.  I said fine, no worries, I'll mail payment and have it shipped to chuckles.  I mailed payment out the following day, but it doesn't travel THAT fast over a weekend in Canada.

I'm not being a stickler, I paid, within three days, but it's at the mercy of the postal system.  It's the filing within five days of letting me know he doesn't ship to Canada that's bugging me.  Ya gotta give me more than five days to get a mailed payment to you. :-\

Oh I see, did you tell him mail is not that fast and a long weekend can make the mail slow plus we don't get mail on Saturday's like they do? Course you did.

People are so impatient!  ::)

Got a pretty nice piece today...thought I got one heck of a deal on it too!!!! :^)
Odd that it went off on a Wed. morning, I'm shocked I got it at that price, no snipers at 10AM Wed morning.

ebay # 5988446732

I also bid on the unproduced Jabba copper mold they had at CIII also, but at about $150ish it didn't meet the reserve.

Holy! So your da big winner on that fine proto skiff.  8)

Congrats, I had that in my watch list to see what it would go for and I'm surprised it did not go for more.

Post some pics if you can when you get it.   :)

whoa great deal bf! I can't believe that a prototype for one of the more expensive vintage vehicles went for so little. that's freaking awesome, kudos!

Thanks!  Yeah I was kinda shocked, but with it going off at 10AM on a Wed. I didn;t get that either.  I'm guessing ending it Sun night would have gotten waaay more than it did.

Thanks!    I know it's missing a railing(don't see that trememndously hurting the auction any), but still was also shocked to get it.  The regular common(albeit HTF) production skiffs go for more than this.

Pics- Will do.  Once I get it I'd like to get a clear plastic case for it.  I'm wondering if one of those $9.99 clear cases used for footballs will work, maybe put something small to prop in on inside.

A lady posted about a number of 12 backs in the middle of the night with insanely low buy-it-now, it was a shark feeding frenzy but I was able to snag a couple, I upgraded my Luke and finally bought a D.S. Commander… only two more to go to complete the first twelve.

Is this recently?  I'm flashing back to the same sort of fiasco about a year ago?

Naw, I was actually one of the sore losers in that sordid affair… unscrupulous rat-bastards!
This was just like a month ago or so. It’s funny; most of the really great auctions I’ve scored over the years have come from ladies selling off stuff they found laying around or whathaveyah, it’s other collectors trying to pass off their damaged goods you have to worry about- why, if I had nickel for everytime some joker sent me a jiffy-marker special… ::)

I remember that. Derk Ho (Uncle Gundy on RS) posted about them and everybody jumped on them. Some of the sore losers offered out more on the lots and one loser even emailed the winner instead of the seller. That pretty much turned into a HUGE ordeal and is one of the main reasons so many hate "auction outting". It's a shame so many fellow forum members turn out to be cutthroats.

Nobody outted any auctions, Uncle Gundy posted about them AFTER they had ended, since he recognized a few of the winners’ names from the RS “vinty community” and wanted to congratulate them. Then some dick- master-collector (or dealer, we’re not quite sure of that one, all we know is that he is a high standing, well-respected member of the vintage community) emailed the seller and bought her out, leaving the rightful winners (myself included) with a nice big- bitter-ass- pie to munch on… that nincompoop Bryan Simmons jumped on me saying I was disgracing his online-home, what a knothead- didn’t even realize I was the same person when I called him a simpleton for dissing Kubrick, Shane was like, “hey man, chill it’s only a movie”- LOL, neuro surgeons, the lot of em’ I tells ya.
If I recall, you were nice enough to make mockery of the ordeal… always being the cute one, eh, Alvarez?

Actually, as I said, Derek posted them first. He later edited his thread to congratulate people who won them. So yes, he did out them. But I guess since it was only 3 minutes most missed it unless they saw the post first pop up as I did.

I *just* got it out of somebody recently who it actually was. It was some guy who came and went. He really only posted  for a bit. He was just some guy using RS to buy and flip stuff to fund his collection. Respected collector indeed.

However, apparently, there were "several" possible buyers according to the seller and she never said who any where so those will always be a mystery.

that nincompoop Bryan Simmons jumped on me saying I was disgracing his online-home, what a knothead- didn’t even realize I was the same person when I called him a simpleton for dissing Kubrick, Shane was like, “hey man, chill it’s only a movie”- LOL, neuro surgeons, the lot of em’ I tells ya.

So, you're that Baltan_Seijin/OrionSlaveLotion guy, eh? I thought your name was Vic? :) FWIW a lot of people got heated in that thread and a lot of people went at it with yiou and others. There's no reason to still hate them 2 years later.

If I recall, you were nice enough to make mockery of the ordeal… always being the cute one, eh, Alvarez?

Perhaps you need to reread the thread. I posted all of twice in it. I even said we don't know for sure it's some super collector as others were assuming, and you still do. Since I found out earlier this year who it was, I was right.

My first post in that thread was to TTSin who later turned out to be my best friend Soicobiologist. I told him to calm down because he was being irrational and it didn't even concern him. You replied to me saying I was trying to insult your intelligence. My reply was very cordial and that was the whole extent of my involvement in an 8 page flame war. If that's your idea of being cute then yeah, I was being cute. If you have a problem with me then say it otherwise know what you are talking about before making smartass remarks about me.

Hey, nobody's cute around here but me, dammit!  >:(

Nice score on the 12-backs there, Vic.  Sorry to hear you were one of those who got screwed the last go-round.  I distinctly remember that wild discussion at RS (as John just linked above), but let's not rehash that here, please.  Thanks.

I received this little number in the mail today.  8)

Tig Fromm Loose Complete C7  (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5991060102&ru=http://search.ebay.com:80/5991060102_W0QQcatrefZC5QQfbdZ1QQfclZ3QQflocZ1QQfposZ73102QQfromZR6QQfrppZ50QQfsclZ1QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1QQfssZ0QQftrtZ1QQftrvZ1QQnojsprZyQQpfidZ0QQsacatZQ2d1QQsacqyopZgeQQsacurZ0QQsadisZ200QQsargnZQ2d1QQsaslcZ0QQsaslopZ1QQsofocusZbsQQfviZ1)

Yep, his joints are loose and the weapon is original. He stands OK so not as bad as I expected, there's some paint wear on the bottom of his feet and a few marks on his back plus a bit on the front. I'm happy with this purchase at this price.  8)

The tuff one's are out of the way, only a few more Droids figures to get and it's done.  :)

I didn't win this one, but if my math is correct this was a pretty good price for this small lot:

Millenium Falcon & loose figures (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VINTAGE-STAR-WARS-MILLENIUM-FALCON-ESB-PALITOY-BOXED_W0QQitemZ5994837272QQcategoryZ49008QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It's been a while since I bid on something on ebaY.  Anyways here it (http://cgi.ebay.com/1978-Star-Wars-Sand-People-Hollow-Cheek-Tubes-Variant_W0QQitemZ5997594607QQcategoryZ50271QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) is.

I suppose it was an o.k. deal and was prepared to bid up to $37.01 and was pleasantly surprised when I bid and it said I won the auction at a mere $30.99.

Best regards,

DBK

Very nice score Matt, well done. He sure goes for more than that from what I have seen.

Looks like it was sort of a hidden auction in the title, listed as "Sand People" opposed to "Tusken".

Personally, I have gotten all the Vintage playsets in c9 condition or better for an average of $25 dls on e bay.
