I haven't seen pics yet, but thought I'd start up a thread so we have one when pics surface.
Sounds like it's going to include TWO ball turrets, Yoda, and a pair of Clone Troopers. Probably going to be pretty spendy since it's TRU. :(

Ah, I see why this is "vintage". The Gunship looks great though so I'll be buying!
-
I had big hopes for a new sculpt Gunship... Maybe next year. :) Otherwise I have 2 gun pods and I'm content with that.
-
Including those sculpts gives a whole new meaning to the term "the crew is expendable". ;)
-
I'll probably pass. I don't have a "normal" Gunship, just the 2006 Wampa one from the 2D Clone Wars cartoon, and it's still good enough for me.
-
I have the original and don't even have it displayed anywhere. :-\
-
Just from an investment standpoint, I'm going to pick up at least a couple of these. For some crazy reason the previous Gunship releases go UP in value. The Clone Wars Command Gunship from 2003 or so goes for ridiculous cash! And so do some of the other versions, too.
-
$80-$100 I'm guessing...I still have 4-5 I got from KB for $10 back in the day - minus the bubbles and figures.
-
I may pass on this as well since this is basically repacks.
-

Me too. With the wings, those things are just tough to display unless you have it hanging or just sitting on the floor. I'll probably end up passing on this, but it does look like a neat set - fun for a new collector or for kids who would be into this type of thing. All these exclusive vehicles is reminding me a bit times like the POTJ days when the mass retail had the regular lines and any vehicles were just exclusives (although I guess we have those smaller versions in Class I/II).
-
I'm going to pass on this one, as I still have my 30 buck 2002 Saga version with the 2009 Battle Pack Pods attached. Nice that Hasbro's getting this back out there for newer collectors, but I wonder how much TRU is going to charge for it. I'd bet it'll be at least 100 bucks, since TRU can't price anything reasonably. Given inflation, being the 7th release of this mold, and the figures not being unique, I'd think a fair price would be 60-70.
-
I will get it because my son love's the entire Jedi vs Seperatist's portion of the Prequel Trilogy. He's got a beat up version from a garage sale w/out the gun turrets. I'm not looking forward to the price, but at least 3 figures come with it and those ball-turrets.
-
What is the source material for this version of the Gunship? What specifically is this design based on?
-
It's supposed to be Yoda's Gunship from Attack Of The Clones.

Thank you!
This will be a pass for me as well...the others I have are still serviceable.
-
The price will be the determining factor for a lot of people I think, but unfortunately (like someone mentioned earlier) Gunship prices have SKYROCKETED. I remember the AOTC ones being $30 and saw the ROTS one the weekend the movie came out for the same price, then those just vanished and went for CRAZY prices on the secondary market. Hasbro noticed and upped the price on the next few releases. Wasn't there an animated Clone Wars version that retailed for like $75 or something crazy?
Sad thing is I could easily see this one hitting $100 due to the "added value" of the orb turrets and the crappy figures.
-

Yeah - TRU had the "Crumb Bomber" Gunship for like $70-80 (2009), but Walmart's "Lucky Lekku" Gunship was just $50 (2008). Both of those were the Clone Wars gunship with the larger, fully closing doors).
Because it's TRU and their last gunship was $70-80, I'm thinking those people guessing this set ends up in the $100 range are probably pretty close. At least with TRU, you know there will be sales. Pretty much all of their big exclusives over the last few years (Trench Run, CW Slave I, etc) have had 20-30% off sales and other promos.
-
I will get it because it'll pack in some figures I won't have to buy otherwise.

No, only the crumb bomber had the space door mods (and the top hidden flip out rotating missile launchers, which will be on this new release). The Lucky Lekku's box art showed fully closed doors, but the actual toy photos and toy itself were the original version.
-
Well yeah if it's going to be $100 then they can keep it until they drop the price in half eventually ::)
-
Even using the last price point for the ship and one figure, when you add in a 20 dollar turret set and 3 more figures, they are going to ask for at LEAST 100 bucks for this. It does not mean any of us have to buy them though.
-
Don't be surprised if these hit the shelves at $149.99 or more, I can easily see that happening.
-
Yeah I can too actually. Maybe not THAT much, but I think $120 isn't out of the realm of possibility.
-
Isn't the TRU exclusive GI Joe Tomahawk supposed to retail for $39.99? Based on that, I would think that this thing should stay under $100.00... but who knows.
-
Hasbro owns GI JOE, no licensing fee to Lucasfilm. Not sure how the film factors in this time, though the copter isn't in the movie and won't be in movie packaging, IIRC.
The gunship was $40 in 2002, $30 in 2005, by the last version it was $80...I mean if figures were like that we'd be...paying....$10....per...figure...now. :(
-
Not sure either if the Tomahawk's totally new... Sure had a lot of similarities to the original but I didn't really hear anything otherwise.

When I saw that MTT hit my TRU shelves last October for $208.99, I vowed to never be surprised by TRU's pricing ever again. The manager explained to me that they are a "test store," at least the branch closest to my house in Orange County NY, corporate checks sales on these items in the test store and if they are selling well at the, um, enhanced price point, then the price becomes standard in most stores.
Good news is they typically collect dust and the price comes down.
So TRU wanted $209 for their MTT when it debuted, I waited, and got it for like $70 or whatever on Amazon.
The Gunship is different because it's an exclusive though I think. But I don't even really want another Gunship unless it gets resculpted.
-
A packaged image of the TVC / TRU exclusive Gunship is up at http://www.forum.starwars-figuren.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=523
-
$150...my prediction.
Box is cool.
I was off by $30, it's tag says $120.
-
I was closer to the mark in Canadian pricing.

In case folks didn't hear. This has hit stores this week for $119.99
-
So how to do get to $120? Well, $10 for each figure. $10 for each ball. $50 for the ship. $20 for the box.
-
Greeeed. Not sure why they included the figures except that this was meant to tie into 3D movie releases that didn't happen.
If only they'd updated the ship itself, but vehicle tooling now goes towards kiddie rides.

There is an updated version, this one isn't it though.

Are you referring to the 2009 release? That was just new doors and extra missile launchers on the engines; more of a parts upgrade than an upgrade of the whole ship. On the one hand I would LOVE to see an upgraded upscaled Gunship, but on the other I would hate to see the existing sculpt (still an excellent toy) made obsolete.
I am actually looking forward to getting this TRU release. It's definitely overpriced though, so I will be waiting for some sales or coupons to come around. The paint apps look nice (as shown at SDCC), and it will be cool to get the ship with turrets in one package.
Also, does anyone know for sure what figure sculpts are included? I believe they were current Saga Legends sculpts back at Toy Fair, then Saga 2002 at SDCC. I am personally hoping for the 5POA SL sculpts.
-
It will be the Saga sculpts. The SL style pilot was just the Black Series pilot's helmet photoshopped onto the SL Clone Trooper.

JTA (http://www.jeditemplearchives.com/content/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=12449) has the lowdown on the pack-ins. A series of sculpts truly worthy of a vintage release.

That's a like a joke someone would make. "They'll include 2002 Saga figures."
And the joke's on us!

They are $169.99 in Canada, so I certainly won't be buying one, even at 50% off.
Actually, they're on sale (http://www.toysrus.ca/product/index.jsp?productId=21716066) for $127, what a deal. Grab 'em while you can, fellow Canucks. ::)

Shrewd move on TRU's part to just hang onto MTT's knowing Hasbro wasn't going to have a BMF this year more or less. :)

Saw these in the store today at $89.99 each. Also on sale are the Jedi & Clone 4-packs at $29.99 each.
-
TRU.com has the Gunship for $69.99. That's a pretty solid deal IMO considering the previous release was also $70, and didn't include the turrets or figures.
-
I couldn't pass that up! Now to get a bunch of phase 1 clones to put in it! :D
-
X-Wing also on sale for $41.99....tempted at both with free store pickup.
-
This ship arrived earlier in the week and it looks fantastic! I've always wanted one in my collection ever since they created the pod cannons, and to have them all in one package is awesome! Although the clone pilot and the Yoda are pretty lame, the phase one clone that comes with it is awesome as well as the rifle and carbine with paint apps on them!
I purchased a couple of more TBS Clone Pilots to fill out the ship and put my other two phase one clones from my two evolutions sets in it and it looks really good. I might get another phase one clone from somewhere to put an entire squad in it for deployment, but it barely has the room! :D
