So I see a couple of us are writers on here, so I thought I'd share a link to this very fun new site called Fictionaut.  It's sort of Facebook for writers - it's a place for writers of any stripe to go and share their stories with other writers and have constructive commentary back and forth.  I write novels - my first is coming out early next year - and I struggle with anything short, so this is really an outlet for me to experiment and develop some creative muscle without any real strings.

Saga Collection '06 / Curious Absence of the $10 Price Point/SA Main Characters

So looking over the rumor list, the big thing that jumps at you is the serious lack of updated SA figs we all wanted.  Among them are Qui Gon, Obi Wan (TPM and AOTC) Darth Maul, Jango Fett, Mace, Yoda, Endor Luke/Leia/Han, Scout Trooper, Snow Trooper, and so on.

And then I was thinking, out of all the force battlers/attactix/GH/transformers/choppers madness, the one thing we haven't heard anything about for next year is the usual $10 deluxe figure.  Where is it?  Gone for good?  And then I thought... wait a sec.  Wasn't there a rumor about more VOTC figs?  Like PT ones too?  Maybe this is where all the main character love will be next year.
Any ideas?

Saga Collection '06 / Future Waves/Themes

I looked around for a thread like this, couldn't find any, so I thought since I'm bored, I'd throw out some ideas on future themes Hasbro could do beyond the ones we know.  I figure 8 waves isn't all we're going to get next year, so:

Clone Wars Wave: I thought this might be a lot of fun, continuing in the realistic style.

New figs:

Scuba Trooper (SA, of course)
Tatooed Vision Quest Anakin w/ removable hand(s)
Superior SA Obi in Clone Armor

Repacks/rehashes:

Snow Bunny Padme (easy enough, all Hasbro has to do is take the Droid Factory Chase Padme and doll her up)
Ithorian Jedi
Snow Yoda (just add hood)
Red ARC Trooper (blue, too)

And in case they don't get to Cody in the Coruscant wave:

Commander Cody (what a shock)

So I bought the Jedi/Sith Battle Pack, but didn't like the Obi Armor version included.  I made a new out of an AT TE Gunner and the simplest head swap ever:



Sorry for the lame pic, but I used my scanner since I don't have a camera.  For as simple as it was, I kind of like it.   :)

I have a weird request.  Does anyone know how to do what they're asking me to do here:

I, for the life of me, cannot seem to do this right.  It's become such a hassle as to not be worth it, but it is, so if anyone is familiar with this, and if they had a few spare minutes, would any one be willing to convert the file I have to the specs they're asking for?  I know I seem like a wimp, and I am.

Watto's Junk Yard / Doing Research

Is there any one here at JD who has experience or knowledge of being in the National Guard?  Especially concerning deployment in Iraq?  I'm writing a story about this, and I want to make sure I have all the details right.  A lot of the information my grandad left from WW2 doesn't seem to apply here, and I don't know anyone in the Guard presently, so any help would be appreciated.

I just have a few questions.  Hope someone can help.

I've sold my first short story!   :o  Read about it here.  I'm so excited.  Finally, all that hard work is paying off.  Now if I can just get this book sold... been close a few times, but no joy.  I guess if I keep banging on the door, they gotta let me in sometime.  Or maybe they'll just call the cops.   ;)

First we got the trailer.  Now we get a look at all 56 ROTS figs.  Obi Wan Pilot (thank you Hasbro).  Tarkin.  Wookie Warrior (with shield!!!).  Clones.  Wonderful clones.  Crispy Anakin.  SP aliens.  Weirdo aliens. 

I couldn't be more excited.   ;D
