Holiday Special Fett! :o

Also rumored for this wave:
McQuarrie Series - Darth Vader (no pic yet :()
-
Oh HELL Yeah!
-
CZ-3 in all his sweetness!
-
Holy Moly!!!
-
Okay Im having awesome figure overload!
-
SWEET, now lets see Wave 5! LOL :P
-
Picture overload today indeed. I can't wait for all of these figures. I really hope this is the Jedi Luke we've all been hoping for, and it at least looks fairly spiffy in the picture. CZ-3 is just a cool figure to get, and the Holiday Special Boba looks kind of neat too. I kind of liked that cartoon from the Holiday Special anyways. I know these are just initial pictures, but from what we've seen from the 30 AC line this year so far, it looks like its going to be an amazing (and expensive) collecting year.
-
Loving the bone :D
(http://www.jedidefender.com/news/images/1-07/wv4_luke.jpg)
Now where's my SA Rancor??
-
I am way impressed by both waves. No Re-Hash'n.
In the words of Mickey D's: I'm lovin it!
Finally a soft good vest robe for Luke to get our final duel we have been begging for. I can wait to see the accessories, if they are as good as these figures its going to be a excellent year for collecting.
-
SUH-WEET. ;D
That Luke is exactly what I was hoping for - removable cloth vest so we can do the duel up in style. The other figs are great, too, especially Cz-3. Been waiting for him forever. The Holiday Fett is just nuts - Hasbro is really going the extra mile this year. You have to hand it to them.
-
I have to admit that Hasbro is hitting a lot of areas this year. It's a bit thin on Ep1 though. But lots of Lukes, OT, and EU stuff.
Anyway, the Holiday Fett is pretty wild.
Luke - wanted the DS2 but this kind of cool with the Rancor bone.
CZ-3 - Finally
Umpass Stay - not sure about the articulation but if it comes with the Drum it should not matter all that much and look decent in dioramas.
-
Luke-probably 3 of these. 2 for customs. Wonder if he'll have interchangable hands.
Umpass- love the name but the fig will peg warm for sure. 1 please.
Fett-For a repaint, pretty much, not bad at all. Love anything Mandalore. 2 please.
CZ-3- 'bout damn time. but by the articulation in this droid, I'm glad they waited we definatley wouldn't have gotten so much articulation in him if they'd done him in the past. 3 please.
-
Based on what the French site Miyoom and McQ Darth Vader are also in this wave
I also believe Mi'yoom was also in the Palace
(http://images.wikia.com/starwars/images/9/90/Hnemthe.jpg)
-
Wow! I wish they could provide the Dum for the Drummer figure ;)
-
These figures look spectacular...but, I possibly have 1 small gripe(really small ;))it appears to me that, for some reason, the legs seem consistently small and out of proportion on alot of these pics from both waves.
The boba fett in this wave coupled with Ellis and 'Chewie in wave 3 appear with disproportionate(narrow?) legs...(the arms even look bigger than the legs)the sculpts are awesome though.
Love that Luke, awesome
DS
-
These look awesome, makes me really wish we were getting Yarna. Other than that, great stuff. This new stuff looks great.
-
I have to admit that Hasbro is hitting a lot of areas this year. It's a bit thin on Ep1 though.
You say that like it's a bad thing.
-
Boba's sweet, nice to see more Holiday Special figures.
-
Another fantastic wave. I'll be picking up one of everything. Any word on if Boba is a simple VOTC repaint or does he have any new parts?
-
ill get them all. bobas pretty sharp, luke looks cool, CZ-3 i cant describe how happy i am, especially cause it looks like the first protocol droid with articulated arms. umpass looks very preposed but heck what else duz he do in the movie. itll suck if he has no drum but if he does ill pick him up.
cool hasbro, keep it up!
-
Thoughts again...
-CZ-3... Outstanding and fills one of the last truly unique droid designs left to get to from the original trilogy... Love this freak, and would love a beat up version of him for a Sandcrawler variant of the figure. It's great.
-Luke... I'd always harped I wanted a SA Jedi Luke with a removable vest piece... Looks like I might be getting my wish, eh? The bone's a cool accessory too, I just hope he has a little more than that. I'm already stoked on this one though, so kudos to Hasbro for a job well done it seems.
-Fett... He may not be everyone's cup of tea but to me he's pretty cool. :) I know we're not gonna get many Holiday Special figures so I'm cherishing this one. Super Articulated, spiffy colors, a trident... missing a prong I guess. A bident? I like it a lot and I know a certain kid who's gonna want that one. Working holster, SA... I'm in.
-Umpass Stay... You guys may hate me at this point... Worst figure of anything new we've seen I think. The legs are clearly HORRIBLY pre-posed with zero articulation besides the hips, and really why articulate them at all with these pre-posed goofy sculpts? Save a buck. ::) The upper body looks pretty cool, sculpt's outstanding, but this figure is little more than $7+ set dressing for someone's diorama... Not a great "toy" I guess is my point... He's just disappointing me because he looks like a major throwback to 2002/early 2003... Whatcha gonna do though? At least it wasn't a guy who was out fighting on the skiffs. :-\
-
And Umpass is missing his drum! So far. I'm sure it will pop up along with the vaparator. He sort of makes me think he's been in a drawer the last few years; the rest of these figs all feature way too good articulation to be related to this guy.
-
I bet there will be some type of Deluxe or even a bigger Battle Pack-sized set that has the other drummer and the drum piece. It seems strange to only offer that guy and no drum.
Though maybe I'll be surprised and they'll pack one with Umpass.
-
It definitely looks like an interesting lineup. I don't think we're seeing the entire wave though, as there are only 4 figures from the wave and other waves we've seen have at least 5-6 figures per set.
Luke - Nice. The bone is a cool accessory, and I think Hasbro's taking a cue from the Rancor beast pack of the POTF2 line with that. I like that the tunic is softgoods and removable, so that we can use this Luke for a Death Star 2 version as well. I don't see a lightsaber with him or another right hand, but those accesories might not be pictured.
CZ-3 - YES! A very nice addition to our droid pool. I for one don't remember seeing CZ-3 in Jabba's Palace, but there's so much to take in their visually that we're bound to miss something. I'll probably put CZ-3 with my Sandcrawler or in a Mos Eisley display, but either way this figure is a welcome addition.
Umpass Stay - It's really funny about this character. I saw him on a lot of ROTJ collector wishlists, but I feel like I see almost as much outcry from fans that Lucas shouldn't have changed the musical number in ROTJ which added this character. I get a little bit of a chuckle out of that. But it's nice to see this figure on the list. I think that there might be a drum accessory with this figure that isn't pictured. The reason being that Hasbro told us that there will be a moisture vaporator accessory with Luke this year, yet we didn't see one with the Luke figure in wave 3.
Boba Fett - Very cool. In fact, that's just about the ONLY cool thing to come out of the Star Wars Holiday Special. That thing is unwatchable except for the cartoon. It's nice to see Boba's first appearance immortalized in plastic.
-
I have to admit that Hasbro is hitting a lot of areas this year. It's a bit thin on Ep1 though.
You say that like it's a bad thing.
No, not really :0) About all they can do with that is make some SA Kenobi and Jinn and Maul.
-
Decent wave. No as exciting as wave 3.
Luke, looking good, hope he can be modified into DSII Luke.
CZ-3, thank goodness, now everyone can stop begging for him. ;)
Boba is kinda cool. I wonder how he'd look if they had gone further with a cartoony sculpt.
Umpas, good looking sculpt, but to statuesque. Reminds me of POTF2.
-
Honestly, I'm surprised LFL allowed Hasbro to produce the Holiday Special Boba Fett considering George has come out and said that if he could destroy every copy in circulation, he would.
-
Honestly, I'm surprised LFL allowed Hasbro to produce the Holiday Special Boba Fett considering George has come out and said that if he could destroy every copy in circulation, he would.
LFL will approve anything to make a buck these days. Hell, they approved Boba Fett on a motorcycle and it doesn't get more embarrasing then that...
-
Luke- *sigh* Yes
CZ-3- :o Ball-joint arms on a protocol droid!
Umpass- PASS!
Boba-YES! The only decent part of the HS!
-
i don't like the umpass stay legs, rest ok
luke looks good, but i would like him with sword better
boba fett, no interest, i hate the concept figures
the droid is ok
-
There is one reason why, Luke has the Bone instead of the lightsaber.
The mighty return of the RANCOR...
Luke will probably come with the lightsaber but the BONE.
-
I wonder if he'll also come with the skull that he throws at the door button?
-
the droid is ok
Okay? OKAY!?! :o
-
the droid looks wicked. :o
Boba fett... ;D ;D ;D ::)
luke...what i expected :P
umpass??....i have a feeling hes going to have an "action" feature.
-
umpass??....i have a feeling hes going to have an "action" feature.
you have a point. this is possible, especially considering spuffy's interesting post about umpass maybe being in a drawer for a while.
-
"umpass now comes with drum beating action!!!1 :o"
drum not included. :)
just a feeling i got
-
My thoughts...
-CZ-3: Nice to finally have this one after all these years, but I'm glad that the protocol droid bodies have been improved enough (with the Endor Threepio) that this one will hopefully get the attention and detail it deserves. Great sculpt, great decoration, great looking figure.
-Luke: Again, nice to finally have what looks to be an SA version of Jedi Luke. I'm a little concerned he might not come with a lightsaber (even though his was stashed in R2's dome at the time), but I'd be willing to concede the lack of one if it means we're getting an SA Final Duel Luke under that vest. :)
-Umpass-Stay: First of all, is that Pig Latin for "Stump"? Just a random question. Anyway, the lack of a drum is a bit odd, considering he's holding the mallet, and the pose is horrid and unforgivable if he doesn't have a drum to hit. Even if the other drummer is part of a Battle Pack or something down the line, they could do one of their infamous cardboard set pieces in that to make up for this one, or even release both drummers in this wave with half of the drum set. That said, I could have lived without this figure having ever been made as I LOATHE the new musical number in ROTJ. Looking at how pathetic the 1998 Sy Snootles is makes me wish they'd just do a "classic" version of her with Max and Droopy (who were okay in their 1998 forms, to me at least) and be done with it.
-Boba Fett: I've never seen the Holiday Special, but Boba's always been my character focus, so I'll definitely pick one up to keep carded, at least.
The thing that sticks out about the vast majority of the figures in the basic line next year is they're all, more or less, new molds. Out of the first wave, Obi-Wan and R2 are slightly rehashed, Biggs and Han in the second wave, and possibly Boba in the third wave. Considering by the time we got to wave 3 last year, we only had 9 new molds out of 21 figures, that's a huge improvement. Makes me a little more optimistic about figures later in the year (Droideka, Jango) being new instead of the same tired rereleases.
-
I for one don't remember seeing CZ-3 in Jabba's Palace, but there's so much to take in their visually that we're bound to miss something.
Perhaps the most visible one in Jabba's is the disassembled version in the droid torture room that C-3PO glances at when he's led out of the room: "Artoo- don't leave me- Ooohhh!" But I figure you mean in the throne room, and there is one walking by when Luke and Han are being pulled in front of Jabba.
-
They also could do the Droid that's being pulled apart.I would like to have one for my dio.
-
i dont know if he has a name or not but the guy that gets thrown by chewie (i think) when Boushh and chewie enter the palace. he would be a cool character to make a figure of. i just remember him having some wierd suit on. black i think. im pretty sure this is the guy...
the guy with the black helmet. and rifle. him....atleast i think hes never had a figure before :S
a new SA slave leia would be pretty cool to. that last one had a really badly done hip. ( it went over the leg) it just looked plain bad.
the slave in that pic would be a cool figure too. would do great in a rancor scene :P
-
The guy in black is Sgt. Doallyn... Besides Hermi Odle I think he's tops on my list...
I'd honestly love to see some human guards though, both from Jabba's as well as the Cantina and Jabba's SE sequence in Docking Bay 94. We've all got lots of Greedo's to flesh out the Rodian thugs there, but I'd dig the bushy bearded guy, the dude in the pointy hat, and the guy in the billowy shirt and vest with a cap. Random humans like that kick ass I think, and my cantina and palace are starting to look TOO alien these days.
-
JJ, I'm right there with ya. I really felt that aliens in the OT were the exception, not the rule, but in the prequels it's pretty tough to find actual humans :P. That said, Fozec is probably highest on my list for Jabba's guards:
-
fozec looks like ICMG. :)
-
After seeing the new Toy Fair pics, I am less excited about Jedi Luke, but more excited over CZ-4 and Umpass-Stay. :)
-
Ball jointed elbows for a droid? VERY COOL.
They've included Umpass-Stay's drum. Sweet!
-
CZ-4 is a piece of art. It was well worth the wait.
-
Where art thou, Hermi? ???
-
holy crap does CZ hace articulated ankles as well. Jeez I wish they'd do 3PO like this but just don't give him the shiny. I loved the 3PO that came with the escape pod so if the did him like that with the articulation of CZ, WOW!!! Can't wait to see if they do a 4-LOM or DS droid like this.
-
How are the curved bar sections supposed to work, do we put one of the straight pieces between them to give room behind the bar?
-
Wave 3: ROTJ
Hermie Odle
Oola w/Chain
Umpass-Stay w/Gong
C-3PO
Luke Skywalker Jedi Knight
A-Wing Pilot
EUHoliday Special Boba Fett
So if all goes well we have only seen half of the wave. I hope we see some at NYCC but expect SDCC.
-
How are the curved bar sections supposed to work, do we put one of the straight pieces between them to give room behind the bar?
A reporter from Jedi Temple Archives (http://www.jeditemplearchives.com) and I were discussing this as we both covered Toy Fair. The one curved section was shown in the carded sample of Elis Helrot. According the Hasbro there will also be one packed in in Mii'yoom Onith. The curved pieces are not intended to attach to one another. Otherwise there would be no room behind the bar since the curved sections just aren't that big. Instead, they're corners. So the bar should go together somewhat like this:

So if all goes well we have only seen half of the wave. I hope we see some at NYCC but expect SDCC.
Probably not. Hasbro will be at NY Comic Con displaying their Marvel goods in conjunction with Marvel Comics. But they told me not to expect the Hasbro Star Wars team to be on hand.

imagine the big ass bar you can build....

"Please excuse the crudity of this model. I didn't have time to build it to scale or to paint it." - Doc Brown
-
Now all we need is another Wuher and the IG-88 beverage dispenser for the center.
-
It's good to know that Hasbro Star Wars won't be at the NYC CC, I don't even think that Lucasfilm will be there in any way. Now I can pass on going.
-
It's actually a very good show. The promoters totally underestimated the turnout last year and they had to turn people away. The exhibitor list is actually pretty good.

How quaint. ;D Awesome drawing, actually. But considering how many of the regular Cantina bar sections we've gotten (rough guess tells me about 9 sections), we should be able to make the big bar by getting some extras of Elis Helrot and Mii'yoom Onith.
-
Jayson, that's a hell of a drawing! Thanks to your pic, I'm going to redesign my Cantina. I've got the 2 OTC Cantina Scene sets, so that gives me 6 long pieces to do the 'sides', so I'll try for 2 of each of M'iiyoom and Elis to get the 4 'corners'. I just remembered I still have the 3 individual Saga Cantina packs kicking around home somewhere, so then I'll be set for the 'ends'. 8)
-
Thanks, I dug out my bar pieces this morning and if you put the regular pieces back to back there is enough room between the bar tops (about 1.5") for Wuher to stand, schlepp out drinkings and be an *******. So, you could get away with having 4 corner pieces and 2 straight piece to build a "mini" bar.
But where's the fun in that?
-
Thanks Nick and Jaybird!
-
I
CAN'T
WAIT!!!!
-
Nicklab...a little OT...I'd actually like to go to the NYC CC, but if SW won't be represented, I'm not as drawn to it as I might be. I was actually at the Javitz Center last year when they had the first one. I was taking a teaching certification exam, and our lines got mixed up with the Comic-con lines. It was kind of funny actually. But yeah, it was packed, I think that they had no idea that there would be such a turnout.
Landothescoundrel and I had talked about going this year, so maybe I will be there.
About the bar and the bar pieces. I never really liked these that much. I'm a stickler for accuracy, and the bar in ANH had no stools!!
-
I'm a stickler for accuracy, and the bar in ANH had no stools!!
Absolutely- not to mention that the curved pieces will not make an accurate curve size for the bar. Not to come down on it for those collectors excited about it, but here is a fairly accurate dimensions pic of the bar from my Cantina dio:

That's beautiful!!!! :o Nice work there!!
-
Diago-Bah. That thing is awesome. It really is quite perfect. I love texture on the floor. What did you use for that? Great, accurate work!
-
:o :o :o :o
HOLY ****! thats amazing, great work!
-
That's what I though. Thanks Diago-ba.
-
C-3PO comes with a Salacious Crumb. Hopefully he comes with a chewed out eye.
-
And hopefully they use the Endor Deity 3PO as a base.
-
Nice! But I'd still like to see the rest of that catalog if possible. We still don't have a complete numbering scheme of figures 1 - 30, with something of a gap in the teens.

Thanks. After I posted that I found the full scan of the catalog and got those numbers.
-
C-3PO comes with a Salacious Crumb. Hopefully he comes with a chewed out eye.
Co-sign.

Co-sign deux.
-
I'm hoping for a dangling eye 3PO myself, but you could also get him covered in green goop from Jabba's b-slap. I'd prefer the eye one though.
-
I didn't notice Hermi Odle! :o
The catalog comes with the Tantive IV BP, I found it on the web.
-
The more I think about it the more I want a new Gamorean Guard.
When was the last time he was released?
-
The more I think about it the more I want a new Gamorean Guard.
When was the last time he was released?
I'd love a new one, too--the only pig guard we've ever gotten in the modern line is now ten-years-old (although it was repainted for OTC in 2004):
It was never a bad figure, but I'd love to see what they could do with that character (those characters?) today. It'd be amazing.
-
I agree, the POTF2 version (and repaint) aren't too bad of figures, but I've often wondered how spiffy they could make one today. I wouldn't mind seeing this characters, as well as some others from the POTF2 days (Ackbar, 2-1B, Zuckuss, Nien Nunb, Ugnaughts, etc.) get re-done in the coming months/years. I'm still missing a few of those, but I'm kind of holding out to see if there is a resculpt at this point.
-
They were in the vintage line right? If they were best bet is in the vintage style line for a new Gammorean.
-
I would like to see a ROTJ wave for the vintage line. Give us a Gamorrean Guard, vintage imperial dignitary, Klaatu, Luke Jedi, and random figure.
-
amen

For everyone asking for a new SA DSII Luke...what more are people looking for?
Sweaty head?
Agonizing Face?
Gloved Hand?
Opened Flap Tunic?
Belt and Holster (which I see being the biggest deal)
Because from what I see...you take away the soft goods robe. You have a DSII Jedi Luke minus the few things I said above...where am I wrong?

-
Is there a pic anywhere of him without the tunic/belt?
I agree, looks like a very good Jedi Luke.
:P
-
Yeah the Luke looks fine to me. I'm pretty happy with the previous version though that's why I won't go too nuts on this. The new Endor Luke looks like a great Luke Jedi when the poncho is off.

ANother thing I agree with, plus there you get the belt along with it. Under the poncho is definitely all Jabba's Palace Luke...but the gloved hand and belt are there.

I'm not trying to be an ass about this either...just trying to understand
-
My 2¢...
Jabba's Palace Luke
Use the Endor figure as the base and include:
- battle damaged hand (from the Toyfair fig) and black glove hand
- lightsaber hilt and ignited saber
- soft goods belt (to be able to tuck the hilt behind ala swinging from the barge)
- Jabba Goon Blaster
- Jedi Cloak
- Bone accessory to use on Oola Rancor :P
SA Death Star II Jedi Luke:
Use the sculpt from the Toyfair Figure (sans soft goods) include:
- black glove hand
- retooled belt (minus the stupid holster)
- lightsaber hilt and ignited saber
- open flap
and just for ***** & giggles
- funeral pyre with torch
-
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v331/pmundheim/IMG_6888.jpg)
Here is a picture of Daryl D. at Toy Fair explaining that the "Vest" is not designed to be removeable or at least not more than once.
-
I think that the TSC Luke sans poncho is vastly superior to this Luke actually.
-
- Bone accessory to use on Oola Rancor :P
Lol
-
Sandtroopers.com has reported that the C-3PO has a chewed out eye & Salacious will be all-new.
-
Cool. About what I figured, but it's nice to know Salacious won't be that same little PVC one they've done before.
-
I was hoping for CZ-3 quality articulation with alternate eye-out and eye-intact head sculpts. That would've been very cool, but this fig should be pretty neat regardless.

Well, good point. I guess its possible. You just never know, Hasbro must have replaced 80 percent of its staff between 06 and 07, so I dunno what to expect. We could get a pleasant surprise...

True, but with the exception of the head varient on Vintage Hoth Han, what we see at toy fair is 99.9999% what we're getting.

We saw the new Threepio at Toy Fair?

Nope...
:P
-
Just as a heads up, it looks like BigBadToyStore has this wave (and set of 7) up for preorder now.
-
No 3PO or Hermie? ???
I may pickup Umpass if I find him on sale, mainly because I want to start a Palace dio this year.
-
New pics! Check out the gorgeousness that is CZ, and the horridness that is Luke:

Umpass, eh, I might buy one.
Luke, he still sucks, that pic has confirmed it. PASS.
CZ-3 looks better than ever! Im definitely getting one carded and one loose. Awesome! 8)
-
WTF is up with Luke!!!?? He looked so great at Toy Fair. :'(
-
CZ looks most choice. But what's with Luke, his feet are huge!
-
Wow, joints are really turning out to be an issue with these TAC sculpts. That Luke is just bad... the horrible pose doesn't really help "sell" the figure either.
-
Call me nuts but the Luke's neat to me... For those that want, they have the Saga figure... More, or less, the same character with good articulation, much more attuned to being aesthetically pleasing over functional.
This Luke... More for fun/play. I like it though... So far.
-
The guy who did Luke must be the same guy who did the DS Trooper. :P
-
I really hope these aren't the final products. I really had my hopes up for Luke. :'(
-
I'll wait and see on Luke. The big thing for me is whether that vest comes off. If not, then we might have some issues. CZ looks fantastic. One of their best efforts ever. Umpass... has been a drawer for a few years I think. Still nice to see him.
-
I'll wait and see on Luke. The big thing for me is whether that vest comes off. If not, then we might have some issues.
It doesn't. :( The question was asked at Toyfair and I think there was a physical demonstration.
-

Like Anton said, Hasbro was asked at Toy Fair and they said there that the vest is not intended to be removed. Here is the quote from Paul in the Toy Fair thread:
Guys I think somebody was asking Depriest about the "Robe" portion of Jedi Luke's outfit. He said it was not intended to be removable. I have a shot on my camera of him messing with it, but it is not really clear.
-
Not good... :(
-
The good thing about the Luke is that they took out the hard plastic lower tunic that hindered movement with the Saga version. I will most likely buy one, but I will have to see it first.
-
This is one of the figures I was looking forward to the most this year, and I'll still pick up one (or a couple). We'll have to see what the production pieces end up looking like. Judging by this pic, certain things look a little bit wonky. Of course, its probably part of Hasbro's plan to make it "better, but not quite perfect" so we can see a VTSC version down the road :).
-
July!!?? Man, that sucks, I really want the Fett.
-
Looking closely at CZ, you can make out a couple of interesting joint articulation points. Of course there is the standard shoulder point, but there appears to be one above the bicep, because one arm is rotated a bit more than the other. There is that awesome elbow joint that looks like a swivel bolt, but there's also wrist apparently; you can see the shadow between the hand and the forearm. I'm going for about 4 of these for various scenes. Well done Hasbro!
Edit: I think I could make the Luke work if I can rip off the fabric and fill any holes caused by the ridiculously oversized belt. A couple of poses would look pretty good I think, but those thinly sculpted boot ankles really accentuate the big feet.
-
I too am thinking that replacing the fabric is the way to go on Luke to really improve him... And the more I look at it the belt annoys me. The joints don't bother me as I prefer articulation over aesthetics, generally, and I can accept the ball/sockets on this figure at some cost. They're not horrid looking to me, just a bit more noticeable is all. The belt could've been done better though. Dunno if that can be "fixed" or not.
-
That belt looks crappy, they should of left it permanent.
-
Luke's back as per our front page... Anyone change their opinion? I think he's looking a little better there personally but the big piece of jumbo on the back of his hand is more than a little distracting. :)
-
I like it.
The facial sculpt looks very good and now that I've become a lose collector I'm looking forward to getting him in various poses.
Not overly keen on the belt though.
-
It doesn't look as bad to me... I didn't mind it much before though so my opinion may not be in tune with you guys. I really like it a little better though, think the belt and softgoods look less "wild", and the joints look more hidden.
I just can't get the hunger for jumbo out of my mind right now thoug. ;D
-
Now that's a photo I like. I think that maybe having a soft goods sash/belt could have helped the esthetics a bit more, but from the facial expression to all the articulation, this is looking to be the definitive Jabba's Palace Luke.
Well I guess he is missing the cloak though :P
-
Yes, definitely better, thanks for the pic! I still think he has enormous hands though (comparable to the size of his Schwartz :P). The cloth bunch-up at the knee is kinda excessive too.
-
This is the first figure that I can remember where the soft goods ruin the figure. I don't like this one so far.
-
I'm just not a fan of this figure, and I really want a good jedi luke! Maybe we will get a really good VOTC one next year.
-

Well he does have that humungous bone to hold ;D. Seriously he looks a lot better then I thought, but I think they should've made the DS trooper look a little more like this.

Am I the only one to notice that his eyes are rolling into the back of his head? This is Luke going all dark side, must explain his funky vest.
As I see the vest is really the only problem, it would have been better done if they had made it a one piece softgoods vest that could be easily removed. Sort of like a shirt that just pulls over the torso. Hopefully removing that hideous belt will not cause any unsightly holes or damage to the waist of the figure when it's removed to make a throne room duel Luke.
-
Taking a look at that picture, I don't think it looks too bad. I'm trying to keep my hopes up for it a bit, because I've really been looking forward to a nice Jedi Luke. Really, the vest/belt combo is what bothers me the most at that point. Also, I don't like the "looking up" eyes, which I've seen on a few Star Wars figures the past couple years. Otherwise, it does look super-articulated, and the use of soft goods makes me wonder if this wasn't considered to be a VOTC figure at some point. That said, we'll probably see an all-new one in a future "vintage" lineup, which will be better than this one. The pink blotch on the back of his hand is a little distracting too. Overall, I'm still looking forward to it, and this picture makes the figure look nicer than some of the previous pics.
-
After that picture i am more upset with the figure. The eye paint is just terrible. I like that she has the wounded hand, but that is about it. I hope we get a VOTC Jedi Luke next year.
-
Just look at that figure!
His legs aren't as bowed out as earlier TAC figures have been. I wonder if Hasbro's been reading our posts and want to prevent all the boiling freezing Jesse got everyone doing and talking about here to 'fix' their products? Could it be they are responding with 'less open' stances now? Hmmmm

hes not rolling his eyes into his head...think of it has having a starring competition with a rancor. ;)

Not sure if I'd say that the soft goods ruin the figure, but I do agree that it looks bad - especially with that belt.
On the other hand, the rest of the figure looks pretty good. Love the legs (definitely going to use some to customize the DS trooper - hate that one's legs - and to do up a sitting Bith musician), and i dig the face. It's not the best, but at least it actually looks like Luke for a change ;)
-
It's better than the pic from that one site. I'll pick up one now. :)
-
Its certainly better. Its went from completely terrible to poor. Still, PASS! :P
-
He looks much better now.
-
I may cut the belt & cloth off & use it for post-ROTJ Luke. I guess we'll have to wait for an Ultimate Place Luke in the Vintage line.
-

I doubt it... Hasbro hates me, or so I've been told in the past by some folks. ;D

Was thinking the same thing.

He looks much better without the robe on.
-
Interesting. Still huge hands, but I wish we could just get a pic without the sash to see what waist details are there.
-
I still hate it and the 2004 version that was recently released w/the poncho is far superior.
-
Hasbro told us at Toy Fair the robe/sash were NOT meant to be removed, so I'm wagering there are no details under the sash Daigo-Bah. I could be wrong but if they didn't intend it to be removed I don't have high hopes for a Death Star style belt under there.
-
JediInsider (http://jediinsider.com/index.php?catid=8&itemid=10315) has some pics up (carded and loose) of the Wave 4 figures.
-
I'm down for this wave. I'll prolly order a whole case depending on the case breakdown.
With 7 figures in the wave, someone is going to be shortpacked.
The only one I'm not to ecstatic about is the Luke, so I'll trade or sell (at cost) any extra of him I get in a case.
The rest are decent. Nice to get two Cantina aliens and each with a curved piece of the bar to finally finish that diorama. Umpass Stay is okay. I'll stop at two of him. The second one will be great custom fodder. Boba I'll keep one carded and one loose. Can always use more droids, so CZ is welcome. And of course the McVader is going to be a keeper. I look to get thre of him. (1carded, 2 loose each with a different helmet on, to display loose)
So not a bad wave at all.
-
I don't know if this has been mentioned here yet, but I like how it's "Animated Debut" Boba Fett:
They can't even bring themselves to put "Holiday Special" on the packaging.
Maybe it's on the back somewhere. . .
. . .nah.
-
Is the Animated Debut Fett all new tooling, a kit bash or a repaint?
I know the accessories are new but I can't tell with the figure. It looks like he has a new belt...
-
That is funny. Nice easy repaint for them too.
Has that pigsticker been used before, or are we destined to get a skiff guard with a new weapon at some point?
-
I am loving the Boba Fett, so far my favorite figure of the year.
-
I don't think I'm getting this Fett unless I buy a case and just happen to get it in there. I don't like the way it looks, don't care about the Holiday Special, and the color scheme makes it look like a prototype or something.
One of the few figures I'll be passing on this year in an otherwise pretty nifty lineup.
-
Ah, live a little.
It's cool because it's different and hey, it's Fett.
-
Is the Animated Debut Fett all new tooling, a kit bash or a repaint?
I know the accessories are new but I can't tell with the figure. It looks like he has a new belt...
I'd guess it's the VOTC mold. But that's just a guess.
-
That EU Holiday Special Boba looks awesome! My second most wanted figure of the year, behind the DarkTrooper. Hope he isn't HTF. But after an EU Concept Boba and a repack of the VOTC Boba, maybe this one will pegwarm.
-
I can't wait for this wave. The McVader, CZ-4 & Elis are definitely going to be my primary "must haves". That McVader is gonna look great w/ McLuke.
-
This is the one wave I'll be getting a full case of- I wan't each figure (I'm not thrilled with the Luke but I'll take him).
Can't wait! Now if I can find a McFett and a McTrooper I'll be all set!

The cardback was shown at ToyFair. RS had one of the most legible shots...

Hey, how 'bout that? Good catch.
(It's still a little inconspicuous, though. . .)
-
This whole wave looks awesome, all but Luke. Miiyoom actually looks somewhat not great from these latest pictures, but cantina aliens are still always welcome in my collection. Umpass's hat looks like it may be removable, which will make him awesome custom fodder if thats the case. Holiday Boba looks as good as ever, and McVader is awesome! Lots of big accessories in this wave, which may be hard to get I am predicting. This is by far the best wave revealed so far, but the EU wave that should be shown at CIV has the potential to change that. Still, lots of winners in this wave!!!
-
I guess I can't speak for the majority but my opinion of Luke is improved upon the hi-rez shots... The joints seem better, the softgoods seem better... Not sure why he's tucking his saber in his belt like that but I dig him regardless. I guess I'm just happy we're getting an SA Jedi Luke because the Saga figure never cut it for me...
But there-in lies the real beauty here... How can ya care much about LUke whe you already have 2 versions of Jedi Luke released in the last short while (Endor and original Jedi) that are both pretty much superior to Jedi Luke here if you don't like all the articulation or the cloth?
I love the Boba too... I think he's at most partially re-used parts, but I don't see the hoses at the right elbow, and there just seems to be at least some differences there. The "bi-dent" or "pigsticker" (nice) is a nifty new piece too, and yes I think we'll see someone get this great accessory for no reason at some point. :)
I like him... Funny, different... Easy. All good things I think, and really it's the only highlight from the Holiday Special.
Otherwise the wave shapes up as some nice filler figures and McVader's a must this year. If he hadn't gotten made, well that'd really be an odd missing link.
The 3 aliens are cool... Maybe some lacking articulation on a couple though... Looks like a couple might have not much leg movement which in 2007 has been a big plus on most figures so it's a little disappointing when it's missing. CZ-3 is SA though, mostly... Holy crap. Nice. Great paintjob on him too... It's looking like another good wave. If stuff keeps going as it is in 2007, my reviews tend to look odd because I'm full of joy with most of it... I mean, even the stinkers have been decent (Lava Miner for instance). It's crazy.
-
Not sure why he's tucking his saber in his belt like that but I dig him regardless.
Before Leia joins him to swing across to the skiff....

;)
-
The adolescent boy in me wants to make a comment about what that last pic looks like, but I'm much too mature to do that :D. Aside from the CZ droid, I'm not ecstatic about this wave. But I will of course get each of the cantina aliens for the dio, the Vader carded will look nice in the McQ series... but I'm not getting the drummer because I am a pre-special edition OT buyer only 8) and I'm not sold on the Luke until I see what some customizers can do with the belt area.
-
Still missing from this wave, Jabba Goo 3PO and Hermi Odle.
-
Still missing from this wave, Jabba Goo 3PO and Hermi Odle.
The consensus seems to be that those will be in wave 5. It's certainly not very logical, as they fit the theme of wave 4 much better, but that seems to be the way things are.
But I think we'll get to see wave 5 and maybe wave 6 at C4 next week. So there's some upside.
-
Actually they were probably replaced by the Cantina aliens.
When was 3PO confirmed slimy? I thought he was confirmed with an eye gnawed out.
-

-
I want Holiday Special Boba definitely, maybe Umpass-stay. Pass on the others.
McVader just looks really half-baked somehow.
-
Yep, Hermi and 3PO have offically been confirmed for wave 5.
-
The concept Vader looks pretty boring in the package since it hides his McQuarrie styled cape. It looks fantastic loose though. 8)
(http://www.jedidefender.com/jwall/pics/Vader/ConceptVaderCarded.jpg) (http://www.jedidefender.com/jwall/pics/Vader/ConceptVaderLoose.jpg)
I'll be buying all of this wave, except maybe Luke. I'm going to take a good look at the ones I have and decide if I need another (or perhaps just replace one).
-
A guy at Scum posted this pic of the Luke; it's not as bad as I thought, and no repair work will have to be done to the belt area! To be accurate though, he'll need a silver buckle.

and definately a shorter lightsaber? what is that? A ten foot pole?

I was just starting to think that I could cut back on hunting time starting with this wave since the are no new army builders, and then it occurred to me that this it the first UGH wave, isn't it? :(
-
then it occurred to me that this it the first UGH wave, isn't it? :(
Yep. :P
Ive been thinking about this wave and at this point the only ones Im really wild about are CZ-4, Holiday Fett, and McVader. Ill also try to hunt down a couple UGHs but only characters I like. I think this summer will be all Saga Legends for me.
-
Are you guys sure this is a UGH wave? From what I was seeing in the UGH forum the case numbers don't seem to match what I'm seeing on EE. However, those numbers could be wrong but they seem to be inline with the listed case #'s in that thread. I'm just asking out of curiosity incase you guys are seeing something I'm not.
-
It looks like (according to EE case asst's) that the rev. cases of this line are the UGH ones. The first case(without Rev. #) will not have UGH. Hasbro could however ship these out of order with the rev. cases first..it wouldn't surprise me the least.
Anyone else expecting these now like me; was kind of expecting they'd hit this week...
DS
-

DS
I'm expecting them to hit in about 3-4 more weeks. The legends wave 2 should hit this week or next. My source usually gets them about 3-4 weeks before the US. Wave 3 legends might even show up before wave 4 its gonna be close.
-
I figured they hit during comic-con, it always seems to be the way.
-

At C-IV Hasbro said to expect this wave to start showing up around the beginning of August.
-
? where you there too?
I must have missed that statement, thanks.
-
I am buying all of and 2 x Luke for customs. I definitely putting the 2006 TSC Endor Luke's Poncho on him to get the much needed SA Endor Luke.
-

I'd do the same, but I have a gut feeling we'll see that figure in Vintage form one day.
-
According to NewForceComics, the wave 4 cases (including the UGH assortments) are on their way to the USA...
From New Force (http://newforcecomics.com/):
While we are in SD for the Con, we got notice that hasbro has shipped quite a bit of new assts to us (UGH, etc). We will detail contents and allocations as we return next week.
Time to start hunting again... ;)

Looks like someone found them :-[

For a bid higher than $30.00, he's yours. ::)
-
Im excited! I was getting sick of Wave 3, actually. Nice to know new stuff is out. It also means were that much closer to the EU wave, which according to Hasbro at CIV, should be out in a couple weeks. ;D

I donno if that constitutes a find. When on person finds them, lots of people find them. Could be a direct import.
-
I found them tonight - at a collectibles store at the mall.
They had Ellros or whatever his name is, Jedi Luke, Animated Fett, Sandtrooper... they also had UGH figures - Airborne Trooper, Biggs, and Vader.
But the figures ranged in price from $9.95 to $19.95 (fett) - I left it ALL behind.
What a rip off.
-
I went ahead and ordered a case from www.dnstoys.com, they've always been very reliable and very fast shipping.
:P
-
So this wave's about to hit, huh? Can't wait to pick up CZ-4. Should be a nice addition to my Sandcrawler droids. Animated EU Fett is the one I want most from this wave though. Hopefully he's packed well in later assortments.
-
I got a shipping notice from NewForce last night. A portion of my wave 4 cases are en route and should be here on Friday. It looks like I got 4 out of the 5 cases I ordered - I think it's the basic wave 4 case and three of the UGH assortment cases. ;D
I can't wait to crack open those Cantina dude/dudettes and try out the curved bar pieces. :)
-
Doesn't look like Wuher has much room in the bar halves.
-
I think I'm still gonna be using the cardboard set for my main Cantina scene and then work the various bar pieces in... but we'll just have to wait and see. Right now, my Cantina is O-fficially under construction until I get these!

Elrot: You talkin' ta me, punk?
-
And Momaw is about to throw down the "Z" snap!
-
I think one of the straight sections is supposed to fit in between the two curved sections. That way there's some room to work behind the bar.
-
One of the straight pieces can fit between, but that doesn't mean it should. I figured that the curved pieces would yield that result and I'm very disappointed because of it.
-
Those straight pieces are too long - now we'll all have to nag Hasbro to make a short, mid-section for the U piece.
-
You could dremel one in half
-
You could dremel one in half
But then you'd chop off the tabs for connecting the curved piece back to it. ;)
-
YOu could dremel the missing tab off and super glue it to the other half.
I wonder what it would take to sand all of it down and refinish it smoothly.
I think I'll try it.
-
I gotta say I'm disappointed in the bar curves too... That's simply piss poor design on Hasbro's part. They could've sculpted those so they'd be more accurate and there'd be no need for this discussion right now, but for some odd reason they chose to make it incredibly narrow... A very frustrating feature.
I too will probably look into customizing an extra straight piece, but ultimately I thought the end of the bar was all curve, it was just a more gradual curve than what Hasbro delivered us.
-
Here how I'd go about making a new section:
Now to find a bandsaw. ;)
-
Hmmm, I'm curious now...where's that overhead pic from their QnA panel at SDCC showing the GH cantinas placed together.... I thought it was cool that it has lights and sounds..but what was that bar shaped like?
DS
-
I guess it's ok that they're including it, but there shouldn't be a straight piece to fit inside. The curve needs to be constant, something I did in my dio:
-
Be cautious what you cut with Jayson... Plastic tends to melt unless you're cutting with the right blade. It can do anything from catch on the blades to just really mess up the piece you're working on, or just curl back melted plastic... They make plastic cutting blades for jigsaws. Not sure on things like Bandsaws or Mitersaws though.
-
If I do this I'm going to just use a hacksaw - and go slowly with it.
Last time I dremeled plastic, I had hot bits of it flying up into my face.
-
Exactly Rob... Plastic tends to melt before it cuts really and takes a certain level of experience to get used to it melting instead of cutting properly. I have a jigsaw blade made for cutting plastic and it kind of shaves it off in a weird way. Still, it's good for cutting sheets but I don't know that it would cut something large/thick and complex shaped like the cantina bar pieces.
Like Daigobah said though, it's to be a gradual curve with no straight piece too... That really sorta sucks on Hasbro's part that they didn't include a 3rd piece or a more accurate/large bar section. It just isn't gonna look right to me I don't think.
-
So, I got all 4 of my wave 4 UGH cases today, which means I've got a full set of Wave 4 too. ;)
Hands down, my favorites are the two Cantina Aliens. I love Cantina aliens and these two are fantastic figures to go with the other recent additions. Maybe not as much articulation as some would like, but they are great to me. :)
Luke is pretty good too. I haven't messed with him too much yet, but he seems pretty good - one thing I didn't notice in any of the pics so far is that he comes with a Lightsaber hilt tucked into that belt of his. His hand being "battle-damaged" is a bit of a distraction though.
As for the rest -
- CZ-4 is very well done. Lotsa articulation and a great sculpt and deco.
- Umpass's legs are such that he is pretty much only good for banging his drum, but he has decent articulation in his arms. Plus, his hat is removable. Very huge figure too, bulky.
- Concept Vader is fine, just another Vader to me.
- Animated Fett is a cool concept too - great weapons and a nice kitbash of existing Fett parts with some new ones.
All and all, a very cool wave.
-
What is the Fett made of Jeff, I was under the impression he was just a VOTC repaint, but now I'm intrigued.
-
What is the Fett made of Jeff, I was under the impression he was just a VOTC repaint, but now I'm intrigued.
He is mostly the VOTC body, but he has new weapons, new belt/waist w/holster, new cape, and at least 1, maybe 2 new hands. You can also see a few sculpt detail tweaks too (though those could just be a mold re-use issue too).
-
I didn't think about the holster and things... I'm really looking forward to this figure a lot so that's neat. REally this is the year of Fett, especially when you think of the upcoming Evolutions set too (whenever that was for). Fett fans have to be satisfied at this point I'd think. :)
-
Just curious, I know that a few members have gotten their pre-order cases from NFC, but has anyone found these yet at retail? I'm not actively looking for the UGH's this year, I'm more interested in the new figures being released in this wave...
-
I've been looking everywhere, only to find a sea of Academy Biggs where ever I look. Man am I getting sick of Wave 3. :P >:(
The only UGHs I plan on getting are concept figures and Holiday Boba Fett. The rest are total passes for me.
-
Just curious, I know that a few members have gotten their pre-order cases from NFC, but has anyone found these yet at retail?
There are only sporadic reports. Some from San Diego, some from Chicago, all at WM. They definitely have hit, but not en-masse
-
Has anybody found the new luke jedi? I was just curious if you could take off that cloth vest and add a gloved hand from endor luke to make a Death Star duel luke? Thats what im planning, just want to make sure it works.
-
I read on the RS boards that supposedly this wave is being pushed back to September. True? If so, I guess I'll be ahead of the game when my CZ-4 arrives from Amazon in a week or so. ;)

Reid, would you mind posting a link to that? Thanks!
I have a very nice Raleigh collector from RebelScum hooking me up with a full case on Monday, so I'm pretty excited. For $86, it's cheaper than buying 12 basic figures at Target. Not bad at all... I'm just worried about lead paint on the figures (I'm an opener) :P

Sorry, I searched for about 10 minutes but I couldn't find the damn page. You'll just have to take my word for it though. ;)
-
But what if I don't trust you? ;)
Thanks for searching for the article/post. I appreciate it.
-
No worries about the lead pain Greg. Hasbro's been cleared of that fiasco.
As for pushing back to September, a few people have found these at retail, so that would be weird if it was true.
-
I finally got around to opening up almost all of this wave today. The Cantina Aliens are kind of average. And truth be told, I actually like the curved pieces and how the bar goes together.
CZ-4 is very nice. The sculpt and articulation are very good for a protocol droid.
Luke is alright. But I'm still on the fence about the whole plastic obi thing. I'd still rather have a Death Star 2 Luke than a sail barge Luke.
I think the sleeper of the wave is Umpass Stay. Sure, the legs are preposed. But the rest of the figure is awesome. Nice articulation in the arms. Great head sculpt. And the gong is one of the coolest accessories to come down the pike in a while.
-
Lookie what King Maul just posted in the SoCal Finds secion:
Yeah, I think there are 12 of them (UGH). Here's a pic of what I ended up getting:

Gold coins....must have gold coins..... ;)

I want those cantina aliens somethin' awful. I hope it doesn't take long to find them. :)

Got a full set of these figures today. Now I need to go open them... ;D
Well, after opening these guys, here are my thoughts:
BOBA FETT- Not too great. The colors are cool and he makes a great generic Mandalorian warrior, but he is not as good as the other figures in this wave. Easily my least favorite.
LUKE SKYWALKER- Great figure! Super articulation and great accessories! The only negatives are the cloth upper tunic, which is too large behind the neck and the red paint on the hand. I hope Hasbro releases a Death Star II Luke soon, as it would be an easy retool/kitbash with this figure. As much as I enjoy this figure, he's not one of my favorites.
DARTH VADER- Awesome figure, but yet again, not one of my favorites. The helmet he wears in the package is very cool, but the second helmet looks almost exactly like a normal Vader helmet. Good articulation and an awesome pistol. I can't wait to set him up fighting Luke and Obi-Wan.
CZ-4- Another great figure. Awesome weathering and excellent sculpt. Articulation is good, and it makes me more excited about the upcoming 4-LOM figure. The only thing better than a SA droid is a SA droid with a huge rifle.
ELIS HELROT- Cool sculpt and good articulation. The bar piece is awesome, espacially when connected to ONITH's. The figure itself is kind of scary looking, but in a good way.
ONITH- Easily my favorite of the wave, along with Umpass-Stay. The bar piece is awesome, as is the articulation and detail in the figure's sculpt. The only downside is the hard plastic skirt that prevents sitting, and the recycled pistol from GREEDO. ELIS' pistol is also dissapointing, but it looks more generic.
UMPASS STAY- My other favorite from Wave 4. Articulation is decent and reminds me of the MUSTAFAR LAVA MINER figure. The detail on the sculpt is amazing, and the removable head cloth is a nice touch. I am looking forward to getting the Jabba's Palace Battle Packs to give this figure some friends.
-

Me too. Hopefully they'll be as easy to find as the 2006 cantina aliens.
-
I got to open up some new figures for the first time in months last night. I still haven't picked up CZ-4 or McVader, but I have to say, most of the figures are a big disappointment for me.
Luke, the articulation is great, but the belt and cloth accessory makes the figure look ridiculous overall.
Umpass Stay, it's like going back to the original Saga line. The figure is bulky, hunched and doesn't stand. Truly disappointing and very unexciting.
Elis reminds me of a POTF2 sculpt with articulation. The only good part on the entire figure is the head sculpt.
Onith is pretty solid. I like this one.
Fett I like as well. The colors are weird, but the sculpt and articulation is perfect.
-
I received my CZ-4 from Amazon, and let me tell you, it's a great figure. This is easily the most well articulated droid I have ever seen, fourteen glorious points, including many ball joints. I think a C-3PO could be made in this style only if he wasn't vac-metallized, as the ball joints would chip away at the paint. Fantastic figure, and I hope the rest of Wave 4 is as good.
Just wish he had more accesories, maybe that little snail-creature from the 2004 Jabba's Court deluxe set, or another Jawa, or just some crates or random piles of debris. Hope we see the WED Septoid in 2008 to round out the Sandcrawler droids!
-
I cracked open my animated debut Boba today, He's pretty cool.
My only drawbacks were the unmoveable wrists, the gun was a real tight fit in the holster-(I can fix it with a blade), and that his left leg won't bend to 90 degrees for a good kneeling position. His waist joint is really loose too- but I have been seeing that on a lot of figs this year.
His left leg cannot bend fully due to the cargo pack on his belt.
I like the moveable sensor scope, the separated tubes on his arm sculpt, cloth cape remnant, wookie pelts, rocket packet and new gun and 2 prong trident accessory.

I haven't been able to do much shopping lately, so I just ordered the Onith, Helrot, CZ and Umpass from ToyWiz via Amazon. Oddly enough Luke was $12.99, so needless to say, I passed on that bargain.
-
I'm doing a 180 on the Luke. I was messing around with the figure and discovered that you can indeed slide he belt and tunic off. The waist sculpting is a little weak, but it's essentially DSII Luke.
-
I received my M'iiyoom in the mail today... This is one cool figure! She has great articulation for a Cantina alien, including ball jointed knees, which are very well hidden.
The curved Cantina bar is excellent as well. It fits perfectly on my 2004 K-Mart Cantina set, and is well sculpted. The worn-in stools are a nice touch.
Overall this is a fantastic figure really, and it's great to see Feltipern's main squeeze immortalized in plastic.
-
I found this wave yesterday, with several of M'iiyoom, Helrot, Umpass, and Lukes, but no McVaders or CZ-4s at all :(. I bought one of each except Umpass (which I think looks fantastic and is very large of a figure, but I just don't buy any Special Edition characters ;)). I tell you what- the Luke is much better than the early pics suggest. As the Jabba's palace version, he is mediocre, but when converted into DS2 Luke he's much better than the POTF2 cinema scene version or the action feature version. His boots and joints are not as exaggerated as they appear in online pics, and his scale is appropriately small. Further, I think his face sculpt is the most accurate ROTJ version yet made. Should we NEED to customize our figures? No, but with minimal work he is greatly improved.
The M'iiyoom is well-detailed and the drybrush/wash paintjob is really good! I have her standing next to a couple other patrons in my cantina dio with her snout in her drink, and the improvements compared to the POTF2 characters are easily apparent. But she is a bit dull and obscure of a character, so I expect she'll pegwarm; furthermore, a character like this is a tad difficult for me to spend $7 on. I still do it :P but I'd have felt better if she was a part of a battle pack or some other cheaper means of getting figures
Elis, on the other hand, is a bit more iconic and has clothing accessories that allow him to sit. He's a tall figure with excellent sculpting and feels like a better value than M'iiyoom.

I hear you on the SE characters. But I bought Umpass because 1) he's an OT species and 2) he's not CGI. Was tempted to get the dancers, but they're too preposed. CGI Snootles and Yowzah sit in the closet where they belong. :P I have a vintage Sy with my modern figs. It's a friggin travesty if they don't update her. And I'd rather have a a fig of the goofy Yuzzem puppet that may or may not have been in ROTJ than the SE CGI one. Just can't bring myself to sully my display with that ****. Never could bring myself to buy that Ketwol thing, either...
Helrot more iconic than Onith? Never! The Root Snoot is clearly seen carrying on with Trevagg as they laugh about some private lovers' joke. That's iconic! ;D

I'm with you on that. M'iiyoom rules. If only I had a Feltipern figure so they could giggle and make out.
Or, better yet, engage in a deadly mating ritual.
:P
-
Funny, I'm missing a Feltipern as well. One of the only figs I never saw at retail.
-
It's a damned shame they can't sit down in a booth together (or separately for that matter). But I have them snuggling in the corner. LOL

Great display!
It's still so bizarre to me that Hasbro released these M'iiyoom and Elis in this wave.
-
nice display man. I was planning to do the exact same thing, only problem for me is that I dont ahve enough straight pieces.
-
Ook, does the curved pieces fit right over the cardboard bar or did you have to cut it out? I don't have any of the straight pieces but once I get my curved pieces I'd like to be able to put them right over the pre-existing bar in the pop up cantina.

No, I'm afraid you have to tear it out. There's a glued tab that you have to pull off the floor. And you'll have to tear two more off the wall which actually go through to the outside wall. I just realized I should've cut those instead of pulling them free of the glue, as that left torn white spots on the outside of it. As a matter of fact, you also need to rip the distillery from the floor if you want the plastic bar flooring to fit under it.
-
But I have them snuggling in the corner. LOL
Bow chicka bow wow.
:P

She's gonna put her snoot where the suns don't shine! :D

Here are some mods I did to my Luke. I tried to combine the best features from the TAC Luke and the Saga Luke. He retains all the articulation of the TAC Luke except the ankles.

-
Why couldn't Hasbro have done that? Looks perfect Lestat.
-
That is pretty slick looking LeStat...
I personally like how the figure looks without the mods though, and then there's the benefit of all limbs being poseable due to the cloth. I think the other Jedi Luke wasn't bad itself anyway too, so you kind of get the best of both worlds with this figure... I was amazed they even bothered doing him again so soon considering a DS Duel version was probably more in-demand because of the other recent "Jedi" sculpt.
Either way, it's a figure I'm looking forward to... Gotta replace that dumb hand though.
-
Since I'm nowhere nearly as talented as Lestat, I wound up just making a super-articulated/VOTC counterpart Endor Luke out of the Wave 4 Luke and last year's TSC Endor Luke. Basically an accessory switch, but I did my first ever attempt at actual customization by exacto-knifing the right hands off at the wrists, supergluing them onto their new respective pegs, and reattaching them. Hey, if I can do it, anybody can do it. :)
So now I have a super-articulated Endor Luke! Hurrah for my not screwing it up! ;D
-
It would be more durable if you had boiled the hands then popped them out then popped better hands in the hole using the same technique. Not saying what you did was wrong, just don't play with him, and he'll be ok.
I cant wait to get this one. one for what lestat did. 1 for my Throne room dio aswell.
-

Darn for some reason I have bought at least 5-6 of those at retail, and saw many, many more... used all for customs. Those were shipped in huge quantities to Kmart stores for some reason when the line ended... Also picked one up last week for just $10 at a collector shop that was closing down, would be yours if I hadn't already customized it -

If I can spot another at a fair price I'll get one for ya as an early Christmas gift. ;)

Anyone else notice on CZ-4's coin that it says "A New Hope" on it? Thought he was in Jedi. :-\

Two CZ Droids are in ANH, CZ-1, who's in the Sandcrawler, and CZ-3, who is wandering the streets of Mos Eisley. Both are virtually identical to CZ-4. Wasn't there a CZ droid on the first Death Star too?
-
Received my Holiday Special Fett from Amazon. Being based off the VOTC Fett, it's a great figure. The cartoon acurate weapons, paint, and gauntlets are very well done. My only concern is that the backpack has even worse time fitting than the VOTC Fetts did, although the HS Fett has an easier time standing than the vinty Fett.
The twin-pronged electrostaff rocks, and it would have been cool to get a small section (head?) of the dragon thing Boba was riding in the cartoon. It could probably be done, especially with the entire Kybuck coming packed in with Yoda. Overall, a kickass figure, and hopefully we'll see more pre-1991 EU figures in the future.
Bring on Wave 5!

Went a little different way with mine. No dig. camera though so you'll have to take my word.
Used the belt from TAC Ceremony Luke cut and lightly sanded holster off belt. Boil pop TAC Jabba Luke in half put on belt with dab of glue and remove "robe" thingy from Luke. Trim waist peg a bit and reinsert. Belt already has hole for saber I modified from an ROTS Obi-Wan Pilot. Perfect pre-electrocuted Luke.
-
I noticed this morning that portions of this wave (and Wave 5) are now available to order at HTS.com. I'm not sure what's left there now (I think Jedi Luke might be), but things seem to pop in and out of stock there somewhat regularly, so it might pay to keep checking.
-
Finally got to open CZ-4 and McVader, I really like them both. CZ-4 is turning into my favorite of the wave, very solid figure. As for Vader, I can see why people complain about the elbows, but the don't really bother me. Sharp figure.
-
I think my fav is Hermi! What a great piece to add to Jabba's court!
-
Hermie my fav too, but he's in wave 5. :P
-
I finally got my two cases of Wave 4 from SWShop.com and I gotta say overall I really do like this wave. Just some thoughts on the figures to waste time at the office... ;D
Jedi Luke - as a Jedi Luke fiend I'm always glad to see another figure come out, but this was a missed opportunity. I think the biggest problem is that the softgoods vest is not correct and loops around his neck instead of flowing down the back. Hasbro mentioned in a recent Q&A that was what they had from reference photos which I found funny as the image used on the back of the card shows that the vest properly flows down the back. Removing the vest to make a DS2 Luke isn't as rewarding as I had hoped. There's a gap between the torso and pelvis which requires work and then the belt isn't even correct. Oh well back to the drawing board again for Hasbro, one day we'll finally get that perfect Jedi Luke...
McQuarrie Vader - from the looks of the figure the overall design created by McQuarrie was implemented in the final design for Vader. Nothing in the sculpt really stands out though it certainly is a nice figure and the paintjob gives him a ghoulish look. I don't like the fact that he can barely hold his lightsaber, the hilt is too big. And am I the only one whose Vader blasters had warped handles?
Elis Herlot - My favorite figure of the bunch as I've been wanting this guy forever. The details on the sculpt, especially the boney head are fantastic. And what a great deal overall, a near SA figure AND the bar with all it's pieces! I do have to question the way the legs are sculpted as it does make posing him while standing a bit awkward, but I plan to have him sit anyway so not too much of a loss. Of all the figures, I've been playing (yes I play with them, there I said it! ;)) him the most as he's the crotchety old man at the bar just looking for another drink to wash away his sorrows. Fun stuff kids, you should try it! :D
M'iiyoom Onith - how about that, a female alien that's not a hoochie! :P The detail on this figure is also especially well done as the head has a lot of crevices and bumps that stand out. She doesn't do a whole lot but sulk which is fine for a background character, but I find it funny that she comes with barstools and has knee articulation, but her skirt prevents her from actually sitting down, you know as shown on the cardback. Oy!
CZ-4 - this year we've received so many sought after figures and this is one of them. All the right details sculpted and painted into the figure are top notch and the head sculpt gives this droid the proper "lost and confused" look we come to love from this droid (well actually CZ-3 but whatever). I find it refreshing that this humanoid style droid is not as tall as the humans and other characters, gives him an air of uniqueness. So much articulation in a droid as well, definitely new frontier that will lead us to 4-LOM, perhaps C-3PO can get the treatment one day.
Anime Fett - Here's another figure we've all wanted and finally we got him. For the most part it's a rehash of the VOTC Fett with what appears to be new lower arms and belt. The colors on my figure seem to be a bit washed out compared to the reference pics but that's fine as it lends Fett to fit in more with the "realistic" style. Now maybe we can get figures for the Droids toon in this style one day.
Umpass Stay - he's a big fella for sure. As a drummer he doesn't do a whole lot but bang the skins (lol, double entendre!) but they made up for it with all the detail you could ask for in a figure. The folds on his clothes and face are top notch, and the paintjob really brings it all out nicely. I find it funny though that in his standing position he looks like he has to take a poop (POTP!).
Army Builders - my cases were Rev 2, so they came with 2 Stormtroopers, 1 DST, 1 Galactic Marine, and 1 Rebel Guard. It's good to see Hasbro putting the army builders out there in as many available slots in cases. It's about time they heeded our call!
Well those are my random rabblings, a pretty good wave overall. Could have used a better Luke and some foresight into letting M'iiyoom sit, but the positives outweigh the negatives on this one.
-
I purchased the new Luke Skywalker figure on Wednesday.
-
The guy in black is Sgt.
Jesse, I think the guy in black is actually Bane Mallar- Sgt Doallyn has a lighter spacesuit on
Jeff
-
Wow I had to look back to figure out what you meant, haha.
I'm not disputing you on it for sure, I'm not positive because of the size of the picture... Doallynn has two different outfits on though IIRC... Black in the palace when he's chucked down the steps by Boussh/Chewie, and he has a light jumpsuit on when he's on the skiff fighting Luke... Or so went my understanding of the character.
-
Actually that might not be accurate. There are two Jabba's Palace denizens who look similar to one another. Bane Malar and Sgt. Doallyn. Malar has a darker outfit than Doallyn.

Even though there are some tubing attachment similarities between those 2 helmets, they really are quite different from each other, aren't they?
I've been seeing the WM onslaught lately too, and saw several CZ-4s of which I bought the other 2 I needed. The sculpting detail in the forearms and chest is superb, and the paintjob is wonderfully dirty. I may clean one of them to better represent the ANH version, but that's no complaint on the excellent wash the figure has.
-
I finally own all of Wave 4 except for the CZ Droid after a trip to TRU today! Umpass-stay is a surprisingly cool figure, and he's probably my favorite despite the pre-posed legs. Elis Helrot is also pretty cool.
-
here we can only find figures from wave 3, but in another town there are only this figures left:
2 cz-4, 2 luke skywalker, 1 darth vader and 1 boba fett
i just bought the last elis helrot, great figure, but i want the other part of the bar too :P
-
The new Jedi Luke Skywalker action figure in this wave has to be one of the best action in wave 4 of the Star Wars 30th anniversary collection.
-
Meh, that Jedi Luke figure is okay. I hate the soft goods with that figure & I hate the fact that his hand is permanently battle damaged.
-
I am still astounded that this wave is still showing up, and in large quantities. Two of my local WM's stocked about 15 cases in the last couple of days.
