My first thought when I saw that USA today asked a bunch of folks I know for their thoughts on the saga was "Cool".  Not "what lame opinions they have".

If for some reason a national (worldwide even) newspaper ever cares enough about my opinion to ask me for it, I suppose it will also be scrutinized by people who know me on message board too.  However, I guess ideally I'd like to think that you guys would say "Hey, cool...they interviewed Josh".   ;D

They have their hands [and wallets] dipped in everything so it's hard to tell.

If I had to wager a guess, I'd say they found them through TFN or RS.  They are two of the biggest "fan-run" sites on the web.

Personally...I'd rather see people like that on a "Jedi-council" than some stupid celebrity that happens to like Star Wars.   Isn't that who they usually interview for stuff like that?

I mean, imagine the quotes if it was Wilmer whatshisface from That 70's show, or Ashlee Simpson or something.

All 5 of those people "randomly" sampled there are from RS or it's sister site, TFN.  Not surprising.  USA today just contacted Phillip or their site, and that was it.

That 28 year old bit from Phillip there is pretty funny though.  I wonder if he honestly told them he was 28, instead of 60-something, or if they just goofed...

I'm sure he told them that not to out himself as a retirement-age fanboy, but an in-his-prime one. I mean, does anyone doubt his vanity?

I'm sure the paper contacted Wise through TFN and he forwarded the reporter to the other quoters. USA Today has been using the net for quotes for a long time. They got my name off alt.dvd way back in 1997 for a DVD article, so I can only imagine how reliant they are on fan outlets for quotes now.

I hate to push the RS buttons again, but I really thought that this was worth posting.

"Jedi Council of Fans" Selects Top 5 Star Wars Moments

Philip Wise has to be the oldest looking 28 year old I've ever seen. Yikes!

The author is dyslexic.

Dammit....I just spit Coke all over my keyboard....thanks for the laugh :)

If Phillip is 28, then I'm still in utero.  And damn, I can't wait to get out of this thing.

Philip Wise is 28 - it's because of his evil that he looks so aged.

So was "What lame opinions they have" the second thing you thought?

Nah. I didn't re-read (and add in the scrutiny) until I saw all the comments here.

My account appears to be missing again.

I'm getting this message:

Is their site down or am I the only one having trouble?
