The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Rumor: No more 3D Prequel Releases?
« on: January 28, 2013, 08:40 PM »
That is very interesting. I initially thought that maybe the profits from the 3D re-releases were supposed to fund the sequel trilogy. At one movie a year, that doesn't seem likely though. The Blu-Ray box sets were wildly successful though.

Quote
Variety is reporting that Star Wars has sold more than one million units in only a week on the markiet, shattering records for the high-definition format, and further cementing Blu-ray's dominance as the home video format of choice.

Despite an average list price of $79.99, the nine disc set generated more than $84 million in worldwide sales. U.S. sales accounted for $38 million of that total, with 515,000 units sold in North America.

That was September of 2011. Expecting families to shell out 3D ticket prices for TPM just four months later is a tough sell. Still, TPM3D opened to 22m and grossed 44m domestically. It earned 102m worldwide. I'm just not sure what a realistic number would have been to be deemed successful.

Interesting that SW.com said postponed instead of canceled.

I'm curious why many of the media outlets claim that TPM 3D underperformed. How much was it supposed to make? It was a 1999 film that was just released on Blu Ray a few months prior that many people already owned on DVD and VHS. Was it supposed it gross 100 million domestically?

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: The Apple iPhone Thread
« on: January 29, 2012, 01:47 PM »
Sorry to bump such an old thread. I figured it was better than creating a new one.

Anyone here have the iPhone 4s? This is only my second iPhone and I had a question.

I backed up my iPhone 4 to iTunes. I purchased the new iPhone 4S and synched it to my last backup. Did I just essentially just turn my 4S into a 4? I noticed the overall layout and look of the 4S was slightly different than my 4. It had more default apps and things of that nature. After I synched to my last back up, my 4S looks exactly like my 4 did.

It appears The Lion King in 3D has raised the bar for re-releases in 3D. I am really curious to see what happens next February.

P90X can be very challenging if you are not used to that kind of training. There is another program from the same company that I highly recommend. It is called Power 90 and it was the predecessor to P90X. You can find it at a decent price on ebay and craigslist.

Great thread speedermike,

If you don't mind, I'd like to crash your thread and keep up with your progress and share my own progress. I think posting here would help motivate me to avoid skipping workouts or indulging too much on bad foods.

Joe Defender / Re: Hasbro GI Joe Q&A
« on: December 11, 2010, 11:48 PM »
The latest round of Joe questions have been posted on our front page guys...

-More celebs?

-More international stuff?

Question #1's still awaiting an answer, so we'll get that up on the front page asap.

Check it out!

Regarding question #2, wasn't Rowdy Roddy Piper added just a few years ago? Sgt Slaughter and Refrigerator Perry were 80's figures but I belive Hot Rod came out not too long ago. I still want that Rocky Balboa figure.

A couple of articles said there wouldn't be any tweaking to the movies. Just a conversion to 3D. I hope that isn't true. Since so much of the prequels was filmed with the actors in front of a green screen, couldn't ILM completely redo a lot of the CGI. Perhaps even film it in true 3D and HD like Avatar? I think AOTC lends itself the most to this treatment. The arena scene, in my opinion only, is probably the weakest looking "set" in all 6 movies.

The Vintage Collection / Re: 2010 "Vintage" Collection Wave 4 - AotC

The Title in the star wars holding shape is ...awfull?

I like seeing prequel figs on vintage cards but I agree with you. I am not crazy about the AOTC logo they went with.

Hasn't there been little hints here and there over the years that insinuates that work has never stopped on original trilogy? I know it will be the special editions on the Blu Ray discs but I don't think it will be the exact 2004 DVD versions. If nothing, at least TPM from the prequels will be different. Isn't there a digital Yoda now on the masters instead of a puppet?

It looks like Hasbro might have the correct color on the MagnaGuard's staff after all.

Sorry if this has already been covered. Does anyone know which Star Case works best with Vintage Collection cardbacks?

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Who actually exercises, and how?
« on: June 1, 2010, 07:03 PM »
Anyone tried the P90X or Insanity Workouts?  My sister did P90X last year and really liked it, however, once she finished the she went right back to eating like crap and almost doubled her loss.

My doctor/friend suggested I try Insanity though because I've been dealing with some chronic pain issues and I have become more than bored with putting on miles running.  Just looking back to 2003...I weighed 210, right now I am at about 230.  The thing is that I have never ever had any muscle definition or strength.  So, I am giving it a whirl and holy crap what a workout!  I really haven't done long term aerobic exercising since I was cut from the high school hoops team in 10th grade.  After the first 6-8 minutes of the warm up I am usually drenched in sweat.  I am on Week 2 and it is absolutely amazing both of how much better I feel and how my self image is starting to improve.  I get into ruts where exercise really drops off and I put on some weight and downward I go...and not because I don't eat right, I actually do eat pretty healthy, it is the exercise that I lack.  We'll see after two months if I still feel the same way!

If you decide to jump to P90X, I would suggest checking out Power 90 first. It might not be necessary if you are already doing good with Insanity. Power 90 was the precursor to P90X and is a very good "starting" program. I lift weights regularly, and do cardio regularly, but Power 90 has really challenged me. I am going to move up to P90X after I am comfortable with the Power 90 workout. Again, you are probably ready for P90X as you are doing Insanity.
