Wave 6 - August/September 2007
2x McQuarrie Snowtrooper #50
3x Han Solo w/ Torture Rack #51
2x Lando Calrissian (Smuggler Outfit) #52
3x Rebel Trooper with McQuarrie headsculpt #53
1x 4-LOM (Super Articulated) #54
That's the case asortment 4-inches.de has listed & when has 4-inches ever been wrong?
A super-articulated 4-LOM!!!!?? :o
I have a feeling Han will have a red glow effect on him so Hasbro will make us pay 10 bucks for a Vintage style one next year.
-
oh looks like a good wave.
-
Zuckuss will probably be HTF, because he's one a case. (atleast that's what I think those #x are)
-
Since there is only 11 figures listed maybe they'll add another 4-LOM to the case.
-
Still 3 McQuarrie Rebels!!!?? He'll pegwarm worse than Lushros.
-
If we dare hope that the Rebel Trooper is finally SA, I'll take a handfull and they won't be pegwarming around here.
-
Two McQuarries in one wave?
-
The Snowtrooper is the McQuarrie concept figure, whereas the Rebel Trooper is a regular figure (ie. not a "concept" version) using a headsculpt based on McQuarrie's face.
-
I wonder if they really mean 4-LOM or Zuckuss. It seems like a small wave though. Anyone have a pic pf the concept snow trooper and concept trooper head?
-
Looks like a good wave to me. I'm looking forward to all of these figures, and have been holding out for a new 4-LOM. I would really like the Han Solo to be the super articulated Bespin version, but I could see it being more "scene specific" as well, so that we can see that version of Han in a future VTSC lineup. With the ANH, Endor, Hoth, and (repainted) Stormtrooper versions basically out of the way, there isn't much else they can do for a new vintage Han unless they decide to re-do the Carbonite version from the TSC line. Anyways, nice lineup, hopefully the Hoth Rebel is SA as well. I don't mind a smaller wave overall either, with the pace things have been going this year.
-

It'll balance out in the revision waves. There aren't any more of him produced than anyone else.
-
I do not think the case assortment they have listed there is entirely correct. #1, it only has 11 figures. #2, the case assortment they have listed for wave 4 is wrong (it does not match any of the cases that EE and BBTS are selling, plus it is missing figure #22 M'iiyoom Onith).
4-inches has been good with the actual figure news, but they do often get the case assortments "wrong" (for us anyway) because they are talking about EU cases which sometimes differ from what we actually get in the USA.
Anyone have a pic pf the concept snow trooper and concept trooper head?
As JesseV08 said, it is most likely not a McQuarrie concept head, but rather an actual McQuarrie head (from his ESB cameo).
Rebel General Pharl McQuarrie...

And one of the McQuarrie Snowtrooper images... not sure if this is the one though.

It's amazing how the internet came to adopt McQuarrie's concepts as well, modeling their "don't hotlink our images" red X's after his initial Snowtrooper concept.
Star Wars, in fact, is everywhere.

Uh... yeah. Fixed.
-
Well I'll be damned, I didn't realize the McQ cameo was actually in the film. I was thinking it was just a CCG card.
The Snowie's overall look didn't alter a ton so I'm guessing that'll be the figure we get. Pretty cool if you ask me. The earlier sketches are pretty different but so far the figures haven't been based on sketches, but rather full colored art.

I didn't realize that either. Pretty cool if thats the figure sculp we will get, a nice little nod to him.
-
Ahhh, now I get "Rebel Trooper w/ McQuarrie head sculpt." :P
-
Rune Haako caught that one a couple of months ago when that French Hasbro product list came out. It's none other than General Pharl McQuarrie. I guess they couldn't find a way to tuckerize McQuarrie. ;D
-
I just hope it's not Riekken with a new head... hope it's an all new sculpt w/ super articulation. Would go a long way towards helping me build a good Hoth Rebel army.
:P

:P
I feel the same exact way.
-
This figures is 100% sure to be Bren Derlin Body with new head. think about the low investment it would be. even the photo of Ralph in the movie he is in that outfit.
Does anyone else notice LFM trends. If its Blackhole stormtrooper they liscense it out in every medium possible. McQuarrie is also following this trend with statues and such. No more BH Stormies we are ready to move now.....
-
VCD one & that's it. I hope Hasbro re-packs the Shadow Stormie in the basic line sometime.
-
Man, I am loving what I have seen so far of the Han Solo w/Torture rack. Very cool. 8)
4-LOM looks sweet too!
-
Yeah, the Han w/torture rack does look pretty sweet. Looking at the picture of the figure from behind, he appears to have elbow articulation as well, but I can't tell on the knees. If he does, and doesn't have an "extreme" face sculpt, we might very well get a SA Bespin Han - which I've really been hoping we'd see soon. The rest of this wave looks great too, its nice to see all these OT figures this year again.
Edit: Just looking at the pics again, and doesn't it look a little like the Lando is re-using maybe the arms and legs from the VOTC figure? Not that it doesn't work or look good, just an observation.
-
i'm loving lando, the general and 4-lom, the rest not
-
Han? Come on Ishi... :)
Seriously even if the head's a little messed up, I'm thinking I can find an extra head that's neutral for the (hopefully) nicely articulated overall figure. The supposed second torso though isn't really visible, so maybe if it's there, there's a neutral head to go with a tortured head? That's my general fear though is that this figure isn't A) as definitive as I'm hoping (articulation wise), and B) is not neutrally sculpted in either the headsculpt or some other fashion.
Love the torture rack though... To me it's a good figure regardless, just it has such potential to be a figure you cannot deal without having in your collection. That's what I'm hoping for.
-

Han deserves getting a good head.
-
Looking at this pic (http://www.rebelscum.com/c4/c4hasbrobasic/image14.asp) showing the Han, I think I can make out ball jointed shoulders and elbows, and it looks like there might be an articulation cut across his chest as well (in the shirt). Hard to say for sure, but it might be shaping up pretty nicely. Like Jesse said, just displaying the figure with the torture rack itself is really nice, so if we get a SA Han out of it, that's just bonus.
-
Han deserves getting a good head.
Don't we all. ;)
-

Man, I can't tell:
Seriously, I don't think the arms are from the VOTC - they're too piratey.
I would assume the figure is all new.
-
I was actualy thinking they might be VOTC Lando's arms... The torso's definitely new though. Legs are impossible to tell from the photo scum had but the arms could be VOTC Lando's I think.
-
Yeah, its hard to say, I just thought they looked similar HERE (http://www.rebelscum.com/c4/c4hasbrobasic/image15.asp). Like I said, not that its a bad thing, just an observation.
-
I was just looking through some of the coverage at JediInsider (http://jediinsider.net/g/?mode=album&album=CIV%2FThursday%2FHasbro&dispsize=800&start=16), the Bespin Han does appear to be super-articulated - woo hoo :).

-
Gen. McQuarrie got the pointy finger sculpt (unfortunately not the right finger is pointing ;))
4-LOM... love it.
Han, too.
Lando looks to be cool, too!
Great wave on the Big H's part.
Jay and Matt, you're sick. ;) I had to stifle my chuckle at work.
-
Gen. MCQ looks like a re-hash of Derlin. amazing looking wave though. concept sotrmy anyone :)
-
Gen. MCQ looks like a re-hash of Derlin.
See, I wasn't so sure. I think his body sculpt is new. Can anyone confirm either way?
-
See, I wasn't so sure. I think his body sculpt is new. Can anyone confirm either way?
it's not official, but holding my figure up next to the best photo I can find, they definitely look the same.
Which doesn't bother me in the least considering that they're neutrally posed and wearing identical uniforms.
-
I'm not terribly bothered by the McQ General either other than the lack of leg articulation really, but in general Derlin was nice and neutral... I do appreciate the inclusion of the helmet though. I know not everyone may care on that but to me it's a big plus to the figure's displayability.
The more I see Han the more I like it even if he's just a statue... Something nice about that for $7. I feel the same slightly about Umpass Stay... He's cooler looking and growing on me over time.
I think though of the ESB figures that the McSnowie is really my favorite... He doubles as an EU figure too, as the design was incorporated into the EU (west end games RPG's to be specific) many moons ago. But in general it's just a sharp looking concept art figure too. I'd love a rebel to accompany him.
-
Well rounded wave for me. No real army builders either. Maybe I'l pick up 9 Concept Snowtroopers for a squad, but that shouldn't be too hard.
-
I really want to see Han without the rack... looks awesome and I have always wanted a torture rack for him. Bespin Han was my favorite figure of the vintage line and I was disappointed that they made Hoth Han the vintage this year.
I can see why now... they wouldn't have been able to include the rack with a Vinatge one. I actually wonder if the sculpt was originally destined to be in the vinatge line...
-
NewForce is now taking pre-orders for this case...
Scheduled to contain:
1x DEATH STAR TROOPER
1x STORMTROOPER
2x MCQUARRIE SNOWTROOPER (new)
2x HAN SOLO W/TORTURE RACK (new)
2x LANDO IN SMUGGLER OUTFIT (new)
2x REBEL TROOPER MCQUARRIE (new)
2x 4-LOM (new)
-
That is at least a 2 case order....just to Army build the McSnowie...plus if Han Torture really has the different heads/torsos as rumored, I'll need that many just to spread around the ESB dioramas (that I don't have, but I've been missing this Han).
-
Hi-res pics are over at JediInsider now...
4-LOM, Lando, and McSnowtrooper are incredible.
Unfortunately, Han's shoulder's are VERY large for some reason... this is a big disappointment to me, he was my favorite in the old line and it just seems like there's always something weird about his sculpt in the new line.
-
I'll definitely pre-order me a case of that. :-*
-

I get the feeling that this Han is really intended to be scene specific to the torture rack. Hence the expression on his face. Besides, I think that there's a Bespin Han Solo in the works for the vintage line at some point soon. There aren't a whole lot of choices left for Han Solo in the vintage line, and Hasbro has managed to work Han into almost every vintage line so far. Have faith!
The production photos look good though. It's a solid wave. The character choices are nice, with 2 core characters, a bounty hunter/droid, a trooper/tribute to Ralph McQuarrie and an incredible concept figure/army builder.
I've been waiting for a really good 4-LOM for years now, and it's nice to see Hasbro come through on that. There's going to be limited articulation because of the design of the character. Hey, protocol droids are exactly nimble. But the sculpt looks amazing.
The General Pharl McQuarrie is cool. Mainly because of the tribute to Ralph McQuarrie. I'll be getting 1 to keep carded to go along with my McQuarrie concept figures. It belongs with them just because it's McQuarrie himself. Other than that? It's not a totally remarkable figure. It seems like it's built on the Major Derlin body but with a new head and cover. I like the fact that he appears to have a ball jointed head and it opens up the possibilities for quick and easy custom Hoth Rebel officers.
Lando? Eh. The Star Wars completist in me appreciates this but as an action figure fan? He's not very exciting. I appreciate that Hasbro's trying to do something different, and that it's kind of obscure...but it's just not that cool.
The McQuarrie Snowtrooper? HOLY S***! I had resolved not to army build with the McQuarrie Stormtrooper. It's just not cool to do when they're packed one per case. But the McQuarrie Snowtrooper really makes me want to break that vow.
-
I agree about tha Han. I'm holding out some hope that it's still a production sample.
Rest of the wave is cool though. Aside from picking up some extra McSnowtroopers, should be a fairly inexpensive one for me.
-
I'm holding out some hope that it's still a production sample.
So you like it then?
-
The shoulders do look huge when he is not strapped into the rack, but the face sculpt makes it good for only that anyway. Either way i am happy with it.
-
Honestly, nobody wants the figure.
With that said, I'm gracious for the stellar pack ins they are giving us this year.
The torture rack, humidifier, bass drum, LIN droid - good stuff.
-

same here :s

And I agree that the pack-ins are awesome.
I think I'd even be okay with them just carding accessories if they're big enough and cool enough to warrant the price. None of that Episode 1 accessory packs garbage.
-
I'm definitely looking forward to the figure. The head sculpt might make it slightly scene-specific, but with the ball-jointed heads they use these days, a swap isn't out of the question - and something even I could do. Either way, it will look cool to just display with that torture rack. Although the shoulders might be a little big, the body looks like a good base for an "ultimate" Bespin Han Solo, very nicely articulated.
-

I agree totally. Every Tatooine Luke I've bought has been just for the moisture vaporator.
:P

This is an Easy fix for the solo. This shoulders stick out, Boil and pop his arms, the boil and pop the upper arms of a Hoth Han, then place the Han vtac shoulders in, then Boil and pop the lower arms of the Bespin arms, place them in the upper vtac arms. Paint it to match. That will work if the shoulders are big and thats what the problem is, if the shoulder joint is too shallow, you'll have to fix it with a dremel. That takes a bit more skill though.

Yes, an easy fix. I'm sure everyone here has the skills, time, patience, and money to do all that. No problem.
-
Not to mention you cannot just "boil & pop" many ball/socket joints lickity split... Considering it appears as though Han's torso has a ball/socket joint, that means his upper torso (and lower for that matter) are made of rigid plastic. The pins of ball/socket joints are also made of rigid plastic, and thus you have to crack torsoes to remove the ball/socket arms.
Nothing easy to that... Not by a longshot.
-
Yeah, if the upper torso is made of a rigid plastic, it could be a more difficult custom to upgrade... damn! Hopefully it will be a softer plastic material... if it is, then anyone with 5 minutes of patience and a dremel could probably make it look a lot better.
:P
-
And not to mentione that the Hoth Han's jacket isn't anywhere near the texture sculpting of the Bespin Han's as well... More to it than just swapping parts even if it's an easy swap of parts, which I 100% doubt it would be (again ball/socket Torso + ball/socket shoulders = a much more complex removal of parts).
But yeah, Han's Hoth coat is way different anyway.
No excuses for Hasbro about how you should have to buy a $10 figure to tear up and combine with your $7 figure so it looks normal. I think $10's pricey for a figure, so $17's a bit much. ;)
-
Hasbro's probably going to swindle us, by doing another Bespin Han with a non-painful look & new arms in next year's Vintage line-up. :-\ I still like the figure though.
-

Or if you want to keep it much more simple, you could always sculpt and cast one from scratch.
-
LOL! Anyway, I am in the camp that does not really care for that figure but definately want that torture rack. The POTJ Bespin Han appeals to me more than what they are releasing this year. I am sure once I strap the TAC version into the rack I won't care either way.
-
I think I'll just keep that Han in the torture rack. The POTJ version is one of my favorite Star Wars figures ever made, so I doubt that will be leaving my shelf anytime soon.
The rest of the wave looks OK. I've bought pretty much everything else this year, so why stop there? ::) :)
-
I'd like a dopey looking, hair messed up, dazed and confused version of that Han (an extra head) packed in so you can have him dragged into the cell to meet up with Chewbacca. :)
Yeah I'm leaving mine in the torture rack too I think. It's pretty much a one-trick-pony despite the cool articulation. Applaud Hasbro for that, dig the figure for what it is, but it's pretty useless outside the rack.
Or if you want to keep it much more simple, you could always sculpt and cast one from scratch
Hah!
-
I'm holding out some hope that it's still a production sample.
So you like it then?
Sure, it's been on my short list since... forever. However, based on the current photo, the POTJ bespin Han still might be the best one.
-
Well, I know this isn't a customizing thread but since we were talking about how hard it would be to remove the shoulders from that Han, I looked at my VTAC Bespin Luke last night because it has a ball joint. I thought that it had a soft plastic torso, but was wrong. I went ahead and tried to remove the arms/legs using the boil-pop method. About 5 minutes later I threw the figure away in disgust. Needless to say, the joints broke.
:P
-

:P
Say it ain't so, or at least you can dig him out-I'll take him ;)
I've got an idea for a Dagobah luke but haven't wanted to spend the $10 just to brake him apart.
-
Are you serious??, dang I has some ideas that i wanted to use that figure for :'(
-
Sorry to say, it's probably on its way to a landfill by now... trash man comes Friday mornings.
I guess I shouldn't have pitched him. I did manage to save the head, hands and shins though. :-\
:P
-
LOVE this wave. But I thought I'd have fun with a crude attempt at "fixing" the Han's shoulders. Keep in mind that this is in MS Paint, not photoshop, so the quality is low. I just wanted to see how narrower shoulders would look:

-
Haven't seen any mention of this anywhere, but the pic here
www.rebelscum.com/SDCC07/Hasbropanel/image75.asp
looks to have the second torso that was rumored. The clearer pics are blocked with the other pics of the figs in this wave. Maybe this is why the arms look so huge at the shoulders, because maybe they're removable. The pics over at the other site also has hi-rez pics of this wave but there's still no mention of a 2nd torso though.

SWEET, I'm gonna buy an extra General McQuarrie and put a General Rieekan head on him.
-
My only disappointment with the Concept Snowtrooper is that he doesn't have a Rebel to blast! I really wish Hasbro had gone with a companion for that figure because it's just outstanding.
For EU fans too, the concept snowie's design was used in some EU material as a "legitimate" Trooper type... I'm too lazy to look it up but I know it was recycled in early EU.
-
I guess I'm just being picky this morning. This new picture of the Snowtrooper really brings out the limitation of the head sculpt. The Concept painting has some facial character, but the headsculpt lacks that little something that basically gives him a look as threatening as a traditional yellow happy face.

Holy crap... From NewForce's Front Page:
SW Wave 4 update
September 17, 2007 | 12:02 PM | newforce1
The balance of our unfilled wave 4 order with Hasbro was officially canceled today. We are unable to fill any other preorders that are still open on wave 4. We do have Legends cases in route to us, that should fill this week (all preorders). I also heard wave 6 is starting to ship to retailers.
If Wave 6 is indeed on it's way, that is friggin' crazy. :o
-
Yep, especially when I haven't even seen Wave 4 or 5 yet.
-
Yikes, I hope my wave 5 order gets filled. :-[
-
Yikes, I hope my wave 5 order gets filled. :-[
I'm right there with you Rob. I was banking on not having to find these at retail since this is such a great wave of figures. Especially since they had the McVader and McStarkiller in the Revision I ordered...

I'm really looking forward to this wave, and its been nice with all the new stuff lately - but I'm a little worried that with the pace of things a wave or two might get "skipped" at retail a bit. Hopefully that won't happen, but I could see something where we have lots of one wave hanging on the pegs, then it sits there long enough that we miss the next wave, then the following wave shows up. Of course, maybe that's why we're seeing these rumored sales (this weekend) at Target and TRU - to make room and keep things moving.
-
Interesting indeed. I'm more worried about what's going on with the the other wave 4 revisions.
-

I agree with your point Anton. I've only seen Rev. 4 so far and I don't recall anyone stating that they've seen the other revisions as of yet. But with Waves 5 and 6 being shipped, I can see the other rev's being 'skipped'...

The worst part is that I've found wave 5 a handful of times and left it behind (buying just my openers) on the assumption that this case is going to ship out.
-
BBTS is also saying it will get Wave 6 next week :o
-
BBTS is also saying it will get Wave 6 next week :o
Beat me to it...I guess i will wait another week to ship my accumulated order. Whats another 50.00 ::) ;D
-
NewForce has updated to say they will indeed be getting 100% of the pre-order cases for Wave 6 next week. :o
That's just crazy, I can't remember the last time that 3 different waves fell on top of each other so close like this...
-
GOD D@MMIT
I haven't even seen wave 4 yet in retail.
Then theres wave 5 and i want multiples of every figure in both those waves.
This one doesn't really seem that exciting except for the Han. But I still need multiples of this one aswell :(
Great, just great
Adam
-
But with Waves 5 and 6 being shipped, I can see the other rev's being 'skipped'...
For some reason I can't. They made them. They're somewhere. Hasbro isn't going to destroy them.
-
For some reason I can't. They made them. They're somewhere. Hasbro isn't going to destroy them.
Sorry, my point wasn't that they were going to be skipped from the standpoint of not shipping. I was only trying to make the point that if some stores are getting waves 5&6 and for whatever reason they sit on the pegs, then some of the wave 4 revs might be 'skipped' as they won't be shipped to those stores. There were stores around here that didn't get Wave 3 for the longest time because Waves 1&2 were sitting on the pegs forever. And one store just got a 'new' case this week and it was Wave 2.
I was only saying that with that much product shipping (3 Waves and multiple Revs), there's the chance that some of the revs might not make it to all areas and thus 'skipped' by some stores.
Sorry, bad explanation of what I was trying to say. I don't think I've clarified it much now though ::)
-
I understand what you mean. You'll see Wave 6, 7 and so forth, then someday next year, you'll see a Darth Revan on the pegs.
-
Wave 6 is in stock at Amazon.com except for the Concept Snowtrooper!
-
....and I'm not even done with w4 yet ::)

No General McQuarrie though as far as I could find.
-
4-LOM and the General sold out, 2 Lando's left.
-
Changed the links I put up since they were no good. They work now.
-
For some reason I can't.
I get ya. That's always a possibility.

Look at this gorgeousness:

Good Lord, that monstrosity is a pack-in? The card should read "Torture Rack with Bonus Han Solo"!
-
Although Smuggler Lando is really tempting, I'm going to pass on this entire wave:
4-LOM and Torture Rack with Han pack-in are decent enough but I don't feel much compulsion to buy them.
General McQuarrie (Hoth Trooper) is quite cool, but I don't have a lot of Hoth figures so he'd be stuck hanging with POTF2 Hothtrooper and Pilot Luke. :P
The Concept Snowtrooper has the same problem, and he looks too weird to file under "normal" figures anyway.
Bring on Waves 5 and 7!

My thoughts exactly. I might pick up Smuggler Lando, as I still don't have a Lando in my collection, but it's not of highest priority.
-
The torture rack isn't very accurate, look at all the little torturing devices on there.

It's good enough for me! :D

Isn't very accurate? The TR is mostly accurate, all they did was leave out a few needles/other instruments of torture.
-
The torture rack isn't very accurate
I'm in total agreement, they made it look like a giant human-sized waffle maker, devoid of all the inner torture **** we saw in the movie. Pretty bad job overall.

::)
Heck, you should be happy we're getting this in the basic line. This figure is a great value, so who cares if there are some tiny minuscule inaccuracies? For the most part this is a dead on representation of what we saw in the film.
-
I think as a toy the TR works perfectly fine and is a great gesture on Hasbro's part. The figure - he sort of looks like he did steroids, from the waist up anyway. My POTJ Bespin Han is still the best!
-
Yeah, I think the torture rack is a great accessory - especially at the basic line price. It might not be 100% accurate, but it looks good to me - especially for a $7 toy. This wave will hopefully be shipping this week, and I'm looking forward to it.
I have to agree about the POTJ Bespin Han, that's one of my favorite figures of all time. Honestly, if they could have just figured out how to add in the modern/ball-jointed articulation into that figure, I woudl be pretty happy. This one doesn't look too bad, but from pictures it doesn't quite look like it is "ultimate Bespin Han" at this point. They're probably saving that for the next time we get a round of VTSC figures.
-
The torture rack isn't very accurate,
True, but I think there'd be a lot of broken toys otherwise.
-
I'd call it "not completely accurate" rather than "not very accurate", because that suggests it looks NOTHING like the movie prop (which it certainly does!), but yeah, there are fewer devices to torture Han with :P
-
I think this accessory is more than adequate. I've been wanting for them to make this since around 1997, so I'm very pleased that they are even making it. True, it could be better, but for a pack-in, this is about as good as it gets (after the moisture vaporator of course).

You gotta love it! The new 4Lom is cool, but he will be way more accurate looking when I get done - I will post pics of that when I am done!
-
Wow! Even though I've seen the new 4-LOM in person and I've been lobbying for this resculpt for years, seeing the contrast between the POTF2 version and the new 30AC version is astonishing. So are the knees and ankles articulated on the new 4-LOM?
-
I can't believe this wave is showing up already. That's 4 waves in one month, 7 if you count the 3 other UGH cases. :o Still, I look forward to it.

Yes, they are ball jointed, so they bend and turn! He is SA in almost every way. My only gripe: to accomplish this they had to sacrified protocol arm detail! I am in the process of customizing mine!
Heres another pic, this one of Smuggler Lando versus that 'awful' Vintage Lando that everyone puts down these days! This does illustrate what the "Vintage" line offered in terms of quality!

Hopefully with more waves out at one time I can actually find something!
-
I always liked that VOTC Lando, and like this new Lando even more. I'll definitely get another one for customizing purposes.
-
I dig the VOTC Lando as well. Makes me want to accost a princess or take a pull from a Colt 45

That's pretty good.
Now do one of the new 4-LOM and the VOTC-3PO.
-
I'm surprised at how much more I like the new Lando's head sculpt.
Also, I found out that when I found the Wave 6 figures tonight (at 5:30PM), another collector who posts at a local Missouri board grabbed the Snowtroopers just 30 minutes before me... was so close to already scoring those!

Oh, Man, I do not have a loose version of the Votc anymore - that is my least fav version of that character! Sorry!

Who's puttin' down VOTC Lando? That figure was hardly "awful" by any standard... Especially considering the VOTC line put out such stinkers as Obi-Wan, C-3PO, and arguably R2-D2. I'd disagree with anyone saying Lando's awful though... Boring perhaps, and a pegwarmer extrordinaire, but a good figure regardless. :)
-
Yeah, I agree. While the character/outfit of the VOTC Lando may be rather boring, IMO Hasbro did as good a job as they could with the figure, and in that respect I think it turned out great. No complaints. Same can be said for the Smuggler version, I think. Boring outfit, but it looks like the figure's turned out pretty nice. I haven't seen one yet, so I can't comment on the articulation, but otherwise I dig it, and am stoked to finally be able to cross that figure off my wants list after all these years.
As for the Torture Rack accuracy, as a basic figure pack-in accessory, I really can't complain. If this figure was in a deluxe line where the TR (and pricepoint) were more of a factor, I'd probably be willing to nitpick it a bit more. That said, I'm all for accuracy, and would love to get another TR later on down the line, perhaps in the aforementioned Deluxe line, where I pay a little more to hopefully get a bit more detail and accuracy on the accessory. But for the time being, this one will do just fine. Again, I'm just thrilled to finally get this piece and cross it off the wants list of many years!
Can't believe this wave is already out. Waves 4, 5, and 6 have come in a complete blur. I only found Wave 5 a few days ago (wave 4 maybe 3 weeks ago), and now 6 is suddenly here. At this pace, we'll be half way through the 2008 line before 2007 is over... :P

Seriously. I just hope target starts to get the same quantity as WM.

I received a set of this wave via BBTS yesterday, and although I haven't had a chance to open them yet - they look pretty good overall to me. Sure, it might not be quite as exciting as Wave 5, but its nice to see some more OT goodness. The Han with Torture Rack is just a cool combo, even if it isn't necessarily the "definitive" Bespin Han. The Lando is nice too, and a version that many of us have wanted for quite awhile. To me, 4-LOM is VTSC quality, and will look great next to VOTC Boba, VTSC Bossk, and VTSC IG-88. Now we just need a new Zuckuss (and maybe a new Dengar, although the Saga version isn't too bad of a figure). Gen. McQuarrie is a nice homage, and will fill out the Hoth ranks some more too. The McQuarrie Snowtrooper really looks like a nifty figure. I was a little surprised how much I liked it, and look forward to opening them later today hopefully.
-
I got my Wave 6 shipping confirmation from NewForce today.
I can't wait to get my hands on that Torture Rack Han and 4-LOM. :)
-
I found Wave 6 cases en masse at all my local WMs tonight. All superb looking figures, for sure (if not a little boring, but that goes with the characters). Of the numerous 4-LOMs I looked at, there was a lot of variance in the amount of "rust weathering" on him, especially on the round middle section, so if that's of any interest to anyone, shop around a little to find one that looks just right.
Haven't opened any of them up yet, so I'll reserve judgement on the rest 'til later. All in all, nice (albeit small) wave.
-
I opened up this wave earlier this week, and I really like it. Sure, maybe not as exciting as some of the other waves, but the Han w/Torture Rack makes a nice display piece (even if it isn't the "ultimate" Han), Lando is a long requested character, and the 4-LOM is VTSC quality to me. I mentioned my thoughts on the rest of them earlier - but a nice wave overall.
Matt makes a good point, a smaller wave - and that's ok with me. With all the stuff we've seen lately, its kind of a relief to get a nice 5-figure wave. I wouldn't mind if we saw more of those throughout the year, to ease the burden on the wallet a bit if nothing else.
-
Cracked them open last night. In a nut shell:
Han, nice accessory, but I'm very disappointed with the figure.
Lando, decent. Arms don't work as well as other swivel arms, but it's passable.
Gen McQuarrie, good body, nice head sculpt, sucky blaster. Habro needs to burn that mold.
4-LOM, superb. Favorite of the wave.
McSnowtrooper, another awesome one. Well done, aside from the fact that one shin is longer than the other.
-
Just got a tracking number from New Force for my case of Wave 6. :)
-
Me too. This kills me though. I'm getting my wave 6 order from NF now but I'm still waiting on wave 4 revision cases and wave 5 from EE. Lesson learned.
-
I've heard about a lot of delayed/missed orders from EE this year. Normally they aren't that bad.
I guess their move to Texas had a bigger effect on their business than folks were expecting...

Whoa, where in TX? I live there?
-
D&S has really raped me and overcharged me for shipping so I stopped doing business with them. To boot they got slow, they used to have early bird cases which you got wave 6 weeks before they hit retail. I may use them again sparingly EE in my experience was always too slow. NFC rules! I have every case preordered from them. I am waiting for them to post 2008 Wave 1.....
I had no idea EE moved to Texas.
-
Finally scored the concept Snowtrooper from wave 6 - two of my favs this year:
-
Read a lot of complaints about one leg being shorter than the other on the Snowtrooper. The second one I open has this problem, but there's no problem standing.
-
Mine's the same way, but it's really very minor/tough to notice. No problem standing mine either...
Would love to army build this guy, but AB'ing a McQuarrie figure is a pipe dream at this point I think. ;)

I think I'm up to 10 Stormies (2 of the old version) and 3 Snowies so far. :) 12 of each would be nice.
-
I got my case of Wave 6 figures in from Newforce yesterday. The McFlurry is really one hell of a figure. I love how you can remove the covering of his mask. This might be my favorite figure this whole year!
-
I got my Case from NFC tonight as well. Haven't opened it yet but looking forward to doing so!
-
I got a General McQuarrie yesterday, and I have to say again that I think the Bren Derlin sculpt is HIGHLY underrated. Despite lack of knee articulation, the stance, proportions, and sculpting detail (like the pocket flaps) are outstanding. The head sculpt is great too; he may not be a dead ringer for Ralph, but it's a good older man effort, better than Dodonna for sure.
-
It seems as if Wave 6 is currently in stock at HTS. The McQuarrie Snowtrooper was not last time I checked, but I did see the others in stock. Also, the 25FALL promo code seems to still work for 25% off plus free shipping. Just a heads up if anyone is interested.

Thanks for the tip Brian. I also noticed that the McVader is back listed as 'Coming Soon' too this morning.

I found Smuggler Outfit Lando and 4-LOM at TRU today.
Lando is a very good figure, but it didn't feel like a good value at almost eight dollars. He only comes with that little blaster. The arms and hands are a little annoying and the eyes look a little funny, but other than that I'm still happy with the figure. Could've been worse.
4-LOM is also a very good figure. It was nice to add another excellent SA resculpt to my bounty hunters display. He's no IG-88, but he's definitely the definitive 4-LOM.
I'm also waiting for Han and his rack from HTS, should arrive soon. I didn't see General McQuarrie at TRU and I'll probably never see the McSnowtrooper, but this small wave is a nice break and at least now I have a chance to find Wave 5.
-

The thing about the eyes is something to keep a watch for. I got mine from a friend who snagged extras. After grabbing one of the extras and seeing that Lando had the "eyes-rolled-into-the-back-of-the-head-zombie" look, I took one of the others that had good paint apps on the eyes.
-
Mine isn't quite a zombie, but they're just a little weird when looking really closely. Nothing too distracting.
-
Still looking for Lando and Han torture. I'm surprised I was able to find 4-LOM (and there were a few there) but saw only one McQuarrie and no Landos. I imagine Target will get caught up with waves 4, 5, and 6 soon, and a WM I frequent will get wave 6 for the first time.
-
Still looking for Lando and Han torture.
I wouldn't worry about them. You're gonna be seein' lots of 'em.
-
I can help you out with those if you want Daigo-Bah.
Also, I found Wave 6 at Target today. Very cool since I finally got the McQuarrie Snowtrooper at retail - with these two, the two I got from www.newforcecomics.com, plus the one Jeff is sending me, I'm up to 5... meaning I can customize one and not feel guilty... that removable mask is just awesome and I can see the helmet being used for an awesome custom.
-
Thanks Chewie- I think I'll be ok soon with figure releases though. The wave 6 figs I found were at one WM of about 3 I frequent, and none at the 2 Targets either. I'm sure they'll get there soon enough!
-
I went to a Khols yesterday, and they had 3 Mcsnowie. the sigh above it said "25% off 7.49. So I passed, but then I remember seeing another sign in the store that said "30% 6.99 but I didnt click" So I went back today, and there were two different sale sighns. One in the toy section, and one on their moblile end cap. I bought another McSnowie. I also went to TRUS and they had 3 McVaders, bought one. The Taget I went to had SL w3 with a Dark Trooper, I left it I have 3 of those.
-
Is it just me or did McFlurry just go from coming soon to out of stock at Hasbro toy shop? Does out of stock mean never to return?
-
It's not you, I saw that too. I would keep checking. The Dark Trooper went from Coming Soon to Out of Stock to Available and back again a few times the last few weeks.
-
i was very surprised, they just got the wave and now only 4-lom is left :O
-
Saw most of this wave at TRU, minus the McSnowie. I think I'll wait to get Lando.
-
I've seen every figure from this wave hanging at TRU, minus the Snowtrooper of course.
-
I saw this wave at TRU minus the McSnowie AND the Torture Rack Han Solo. But they had at least three each of Lando, 4-LOM and General McQ.
-
I saw this wave at our local TRU this morning as well, they seemed to have some of Wave 5 and 6 in stock.
