Title: Wampa Review
Post by: Angry Ewok on December 9, 2003, 10:19 PM
Wal-Mart gave me an early Christmas!

Appearance -
It looks pretty damn good! The face is a little off, but my wampa looks considerably better than those I've seen online as far as the eyes go. Not quite, but close enough.
8/10

Articluation -
Difficult to grade this. Wampa has head, arms, legs, and what appears to be 3 waists! No wrists or knees, but I don't know if it'd be possible (and still have the appearance rate so well).
9/10

Pose-ability -
There's quite a bit you can do here, I'm very pleased.
9/10

Accessory -
A very well crafted ice chunk, and a not-so-interesting chunk of meat. Again, I'm very pleased!
10/10

Overall -
Worth the $10! Go out and get him. This guy makes up for the 'sigh' Rieekan.
9/10

LOVE the new Wampa. He really stands out standing next to the POTF2 Wampa and Luke set. That Wampa sucks butt next to this new Wampa. Love the sculpt though I do not like the rubbery body.
The removable arm is a nice touch along with the bloody TaunTaun leg.
The base even has a hole to fit Luke's Lightsaber. NEAT!

Great work on this toy. I have to say the best out of the three new Ultra figs.

I totally agree with you! The ice block is an awesome accessory, and the meat is pretty good too. As for the figure, it's almost perfect. I sort of like how they made the arms and legs out of the squishy dog-toy plastic. I don't know about anybody else, but I can only move the top two waists. All in all, a great figure that is worth the money. Buy it if you see it!

On my desk I've got the Saga Wampa attacking the new Saga Cave-whimp Luke, a Saga Tauntaun (Hoth 4 Pack) and the new Saga Hoth Han (Blue) for a rider, and a vintage Wampa attacking a vintage Tauntaun (saddle and rider free).

It's really sort of funny to see how far the Wampas and Tauntauns have evolved.

That was a mouth full.  :-[

My Wampa's waists don't really bend very much.

Speaking of the Wampa's waist, I just got one and discovered mine "pops" apart quite easily at the top waist section. At first I thought I broke it, but it pops back together just as easily. If it's an accident, it's a welcome one--now Luke has the choice of just cutting off his arm or slicing him in half.

My only complaint with the purchase is sloppy gluing of the base piece--I've got some drippy gobs showing at the joint. Other than that, this figure gets a solid A.

I'm really digging the Wampa. The severed arm leaves a bit to be desired, but still really good.
