Post by: Loopy_Leia on October 15, 2005, 10:42 PM

Interesting. The orange and gray kind of trip me out...I'm not sure how I feel about it. He kind of looks like Carl the Safety Clone. "Remember younglings, look both ways before crossing the street!"

In all seriousness though, the paint job on this is well done, especially considering it's your first. I'd hit it with a little dull cote to tone down the glossiness, and add just a hint of weathering and battle damage.

I think the design pattern works well too, but I'm still not sure how I feel about the color choices. Still well done, and welcome!

first of all, welcome loopy leia  :)

the paint job looks very well done for a first try. good to see you come up with your own design.

i agree with darth delicious on the color choice, i prefer grey with green as a combination a little more myself...but if the colors make you happy that's all that counts.

Darth Ripley makes a good point. Ultimately, the only person this clone has to please is you. But I do like it.

Did you use enamels on this? If so, you should switch to acrylics in the future. A lot of us made the mistake of using enamels with our first customs, and they cause a lot of problems. They're thick, goopy, and they don't stick to certain kinds of plastics, meaning they never dry.

Looks good Loopy_leia.  :) I actually like the color scheme, sortaf reminds me of a Courascant Crossing Guard Clone. BTW, what Clone did you use for this?

Nice job.  The painting is really crsip for a first time.  About the colores, I don't think that orange is a bad choice, just not very Star Warsy. The orange you used looks neon, and the colors is Star Wars tend to be have more earth tones incorparated into them.  Even the Royal Guards are blood red, not fire-engine red.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ What they said.

Welcome Leia, and we hope to see more from you in the future.  Great work for a first clone.

Hunter, based on the body I'd say that's a tank gunner clone, but it appears to have a regular clone ball-joint head.  Now I'm curious....Leia?

Nice choice of coloring on this one. I'd fix the stomach area. It looks unfinished there. Very jagged. I'd invest in a good set of fine tip artist brushes. Its amazing how easy it is to make great results with the right tools.

Good advice from Phruby. You can also clean up jagged areas with an exacto knife, go give you smooth, cleaner lines.

Interesting paint scheme.  I think a small but of weathering would look great.

He has a Halloween-vibe to him, I like it.
I think he looks more ROTS-style than the hasbro exclusive Clone repaints.
I'm a little confused as to the figure that you used.  Everything looks like an AT-TE Tank Gunner, except the helmet looks like there's a ball-peg underneath instead of a Clone head...
