Noticed that there was no thread for Battlestar Galactica toys here? What gives?
Due to the popularity of the new series (which rules BTW), the number of BSG collectibles have been on the rise. Majestic Studios amkes some pretty nice 12" figures, Joyride Studios has done some very nice Action Fleet style ships, and of course Hasbro has done the Titanium ships, has the upcoming Titanium Cylon figure, and has made allusions to a possible action figure line in a couple Q&As (I really hope this one comes to pass).
Anyway, is anybody on here collecting BSG stuff too? I have Majestic's Apollo, Starbuck, and Cylon 12" figures from the classic series (pretty nice...not quite Sideshow, but still good), I have a Joyride Cylon Raider (awesome), and all the BSG Titaniums.

I've been picking up the Titanium vehicles. I passed on the 2" Galactica and Home One but did get the Ultra Galactica.
If they made a 3.75" line of figures for the new series I'd probably buy them but I haven't picked up any of the larger scale figures that are out now.

I don't think the toys are that great, but I'm obsessed with the new series, and I'd love to see some toys produced from it. However, it is a very mature show, so I'm not sure we'd see any huge push to get these on the pegs or anything.

I'm a figure away from completing my vintage MOC collection, and hope to pick up some multipacks and the Viper & Raider at some point. The 6" Joyride figures look pretty good as well, though I haven't picked any up yet.
I'm kind of surprised the popularity of the new series hasn't caused a little more of a spike in the old stuff. I just sold a MOC Ovion for a whopping $10.49, and I've seen a lot of figures relatively cheap.
Anyone getting the Cylon Minimates? Pretty darn sweet if you ask me. :)

Just read on Rebelscum that there will be a Titamium Classic Series Cylon Raider as well a Battlestar Pegasus! I am assuming the Pegasus is from the new series as they haven't gotten around to a classic Galactica yet.

Well, the Pegasus and Classic Raider look pretty darn nice! Still searching for the Classic Viper. Also worked a trade to get the Joyride Viper...should be here in a couple of days, really looking forward to that one.
I read on a BSG site somewhere the other day that Joyride no longer has the license for figures/etc. and that another company had picked it up...possibly Hasbro? They did allude to 3 3/4" BSG figures in one of their Q&As a while back.

That's an awesome looking rocket though. There's a GI Joe collector, J. Steven York, who launches model rockets and has videoed some of them plus I just watched "October Sky" this past weekend...I'm getting the bug to launch rockets again. That's something I haven't done since I was 12 or 13 and was launching the $5 rockets we bought at the local hobby store.

Personally, we've altered our path to John Harvard's for beer... Either we're getting old or the waitresses at Hooters were too hefty of late. Given that I still go there ot watch Wrestling with friends for PPV's, I can attest the latter is true to an extent... at least around here, but tha'ts a Pittsburgh Hooters so I can't really expect much either.

Yes, we do have plans and they are in the 3-3/4" scale. The first one up this Fall is the current Cylon. Look for that on shelves in Dec. As for 2007, there are more plans for both the new and old shows but you'll have to stay tuned.
I really hope that they weren't talking about more Titanium figures as it appears that they have cancelled that line. A regular, good old, 3 3/4" line of BSG figures (Classic and current) would be "the bomb"!

Personally, I'm glad to see DST picked the line up. Hasbro does some decent stuff, but I just don't see much success in a 3 3/4" BSG line and I would bet that's the direction they'd take it. I'm really looking forward to see what DST has to offer, and it sounds like we'll see some stuff at Toy Fair. Looking forward to it. :)

I think DST would do a decent job with the line. They rehash more than Hasbro it seems and even them they are slow as hell when it comes to getting figures out. In the last year they've put out a whopping 2 waves. I kind of wish Sideshow had gotten the rights. Maybe even Hasbro. 3 3/4" scale take up a lot less space...

Is that good news? I am not familiar with their work, but it doesn't bode well for the Hasbro line I guess...
Diamond Select isn't bad, they do the stuff like the Art Asylum Star Trek figures and those are pretty nice from a sculpt/paint/articulation/accessories standpoint. It's not my favorite scale (6") but it's not bad at all. I'm optimistic.

This thread sure managed to fall way down the list...
So has anyone else here been collecting the DST figure line at all? I finally got to see my Series 1 stuff the other day and I have to say I had mixed feelings. Looking at the figures carded I was actually REALLY disappointed, to the point where I was considering dropping the line all together. The likeness on Six, Lee, and Anders really weren't that good. Lee is the best of the three I'd say but he isn't all that great. Hot Dog and Helo are by far the two best headsculpts of the wave IMO.
When I finally got around to opening the figures I felt a lot better about them. While carded they were posed in a way that made their legs look like they were sculpted with a really wide stance. As it turns out all the figures except the red dress Six have very nicely hidden ball-jointed legs. That really was a nice suprise. Articulation is actually one of the major pros this line has so far. Most figures have balljointed legs, shoulders, wrists, and heads, hinged knees and elbows with swivel biceps/thighs and a swivel waist and ankles. DST does reuse parts more than about any other company I've seen. The legs on Helo and Anders (and any subsequent figure that will be using those legs) are wider than I'd like them to be, even with the ball joints. The painting on all the figures seems to be consistent and for mass produced figures really is pretty good.
The figures leave something to be desired as far as the accessories go. Neither Six came with anything. They could have at least thrown in one of those cylon gadgets from '33', a briefcase for Caprica Six or something. Helo just came with his gun, which I guess when you consider he is in uniform makes sense. I have gotten use to DST's work on the Stargate lines where almost the entire bubble is packed with accessories, so seeing the BSG bubble so bare kind of sucks. I would have liked the pieces to build the draedus console or anthing else from the CIC, much like the Stargate line's bigger stuff. Lee and Hot Dog have a decent amount of goodies, they comes with sidearms, a helmet (it is very nice two piece design that fits snugly on the head), and two sets of hands one gloved, one bare. The peg on one of Hot Dog's hands already broke off inside his arm though so I'm going to have to find a way to get that out. >:(
Anders comes with a machine gun and a sidearm. As I went to open this one i noticed one of his arms had already fallen off during shipping and was just floating around the package. Lucky they pop back on, but it still falls off every now and again.
I could have sworn I ordered exclusive Chief Tyrol from BBTS, but I haven't heard anything about him and when I checked their site again today he wasn't even listed anywhere. DST seems to be pretty bad with exclusives, hell 3 out of the 6 series 1 are exclusives somewhere. Luckily New Force seems to be able to get them all and they have them at a decent price. I was able to order a set of 6. They didn't have Chief Tyrol either and I looked around and couldn't find him anywhere. I looked on eBay and saw him from one US seller and two British sellers and that was it. He really looks like he will be a pain to track down.
So yeah, overall for the first series it wasn't too bad. I'll stick with the line for awhile. There definitely is room for improvement though. I'm excited for Series 2. Admiral Cain is looking like she will be just as difficult to track down as Tyrol though... I can't wait for Starbuck and am looking forward to seeing some real pictures of the cylon. Hopefully they will reveal some at ToyFair.

Anyone going to grab Amok Time's 12" Battlestar figures (http://www.toytraderz.com/modules/eventgallery/v/toyfair2008/Amok+Time/)? They're redistributing the Starbuck, Apollo and Adama previously released by Majestic, redoing the two Cylons, and then releasing some new figures - Athena, Lucifer, Cain, Tigh and Boomer. The figures look great and hopefully the line does well enough that we'll see the likes of Baltar, an Ovion and the Imperious Leader. :)

They look awsume and I love the Bridge pieces but I am sticking to jusy one scale these days if it kills me. Maybe one day I will get my battlestar in 3 3/4 scale. I just hope they do as good a job or better as these are.

I probably would end up doing the same actually. Don't get me wrong, I love Star Wars, but Galactica is far and away the best Sci-Fi (let alone TV in general) I've ever seen so I'd change my focus to Galactica in a heartbeat. The 7" figures aren't bad so far, but because they cost more, and take up more space I won't ever be able to army build the cylons like I'd like to. As nice as that Series 2 Centurion from DST looks I'll probably only end up with 2-4. With a 3 3/4" version I might go for about 40 of them, plus human models. 3 3/4" is a much better scale to work with if for doing any sort of diorama work.

Sweet Jesus. I HAVE to get one of these at some point. Does anyone happen to have an extra $7900 laying around? I can only image how cool it would be to have two of these puppies standing guard at the outside of the collection room door. As cool as this is, I can't imagine there are many collectors who can afford to spend $7900 on one single piece. That could buy you a real nice used car. I guess I'll have to wait until I win the lotto.

Now that's dedication if you buy that. It's hard to imagine that there's even a market for life sized statues, but I guess they wouldn't make one otherwise.

Picked up both Classic BSG minimate sets on Wednesday at a comic shop. They are awesome but I can't remove Boomer's helmet now because it fits too well.

Looks like DST is going to have an exclusive Cylon at the NY Comic-Con in February.
I saw that the newest wave of Titaniums had a Viper. I've been looking for that wave to drop locally so I can pick it up.

My Apollo & Dualla two-packs arrived the other day. (I accidentally ordered two ::) ) It is a pretty nice little set. They included a bunch of little accessories. There's a stack of paper ballots from th Roslin v. Baltar Election and a Ballot box, a few books and binders, playing cards, and boxing gloves (a weird choice since Lee didn't fight with his dress uniform on, but they are still a nice inclusion).
I love how every single DST line ALWAYS gets delayed MONTHS after the target release date. It feels like we've been waiting on Series 3 forever... There is a bunch of stuff on the horizon, including a bunch of exclsuives. I wonder how long it will be until any of this gets released?
I've got that extra MOC Apollo & Dualla if anyone is looking for one.
