30th Anniversary Collection / Re: 30AC Saga Legends
« on: June 7, 2008, 10:41 AM »
At this late stage in the game, Hasbro better not try to fix the production miscommunication that denied us the black one.

They're not - they said that there is no way they could fix it now - the black pauldron Sandtrooper will not be part of the Saga Legends run and they will look to slot the figure somewhere in the 2009 line - probably in the GH figure assortments.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Clone Wars Figure Rumors/Speculation

Are these unique figures or variations that will exist on the regular Clonetrooper figure?

Yeah - another thing to keep in mind is that they showed half of the RotLA wave at SDCC last year, right? So that was seven months before the figures hit the shelves. So I think there's a strong chance that SDCC will reveal a lot of what Hasbro has planned for late 2008 and early 2009.

The Legacy Collection / Re: TLC Millenium Falcon Upgrade

Man, I need that Falcon so bad...   :-[

Agreed - both of these vehicles really convey that you're getting your money's worth with them. Just the size of this one alone is phenomenal.

I wish we would have know that all it would have taken to get us this version of the Falcon sooner was for the old Kenner tools to break, I think we as a collector community could have easily paid off a Hasbro factory worker to "accidently" drop the molds. Hehe.

I would have rather had this before now instead of buying the three packaging variations of the old Kenner mold.

The answer is kinda confusing, they say that there will be more vehicles in the fall with details announced at Toy Fair. Well this Fall takes place BEFORE the next Toy Fair. I think they "mis-spoke" with their answer and probably meant SDCC. I can't imagine that we won't see the entire ToD wave and the next KotCS wave at SDCC. If the vehicle is KotCS themed, then I wouldn't be surprised if we saw the new vehicle along with the 2nd wave of KotCS figures.

9 out of 10, not bad!

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: 30AC Saga Legends
« on: June 6, 2008, 07:53 PM »
Glad to see that Hasbro was finally able to give us a final answer on how many Saga Legends Sandtroopers there are.

As we all expected, the GLUT of White Pauldron Sandtroopers was actually meant to have Black Pauldrons in the mix as well.

So instead of there being five or six different versions of the Sandtrooper, there are only four:

TSC Body Dirty w/White Pauldron
TSC Body Dirty w/Orange Pauldron
Evolutions Body Dirty w/Orange Pauldron
TSC Body Clean w/White Pauldron

That's it.

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: How big is your army?

These are all REALLY cool! Nice job!

I'm guessing that they were originally GI Joe vehicles right?

This is something that has always puzzled me. Why doesn't Hasbro mod and repaint their GI Joe stuff and make them Star Wars-ish vehicles for the $20 vehicle line? I know I'd buy all three of those if they released them for either the Clones or Droids to pilot into battle.

Is it Lucasfilm who prevents Hasbro from doing stuff like this or re-invigorating the "Mini Rigs" type smaller vehicles because they 'did not appear in the movies'? I would love to see them release more medium-to-small sized vehicles that could be purchased for $10 - $20. Who cares if they weren't seen in the movies? When I was kid, I loved playing with the mini-rigs!

Seriously - "albeit in a much smaller capacity"?  This summer/Fall, we're getting around 30 basic figures, 6-10 comic packs, 3-4 $20 vehicles, 3-5 more Evo packs, 4-6 new Battle Packs, two vehicles over $100, etc etc.  And that's only what we know is coming, there is more to be revealed at SDCC plus exclusives.

Do you think it's a coincidence that they chose this Summer, the one filled with a bunch of animated figures that collectors may not like/buy, to give us TWO $100+ vehicles?  It's like somehow they knew that most adult collectors just might have some extra money for that sort of thing this summer...

I agree with part of what you're saying here. As far as Hasbro is concerned, many of the items you're referring to are part of their Clone Wars line. The AT-TE, V-19 and Homing Spider Droid - while all able to pass as vehicles for the realistically styled figures, are part of the animated style figure line. Same thing goes with several of the battle packs they have planned.

I think what people are forgetting is that there will be PLENTY of Clone Wars stuff too. Whether you get it or not (and it seems like most collectors are indeed passing on the figures), you have to acknowledge that a lack of purchases of this new animated line will, by Christmas shopping season time, hurt the Legacy Collection.

Target has two DPCI #s for TAC and Legends. To all Target employees the two lines are the exact same thing and I've had to beg and plead with Target employees over the last year and a half to get them to bring out more TAC figures when the pegs were choking on Legends stuff. Come October, we will all be in this exact same situation with the animated garbage choking the pegs and not a Legacy Collection figure to be found.

So what does that mean for the health of the line? Well, while I doubt the quantities of product will ever match the levels that were seen during EP1, I think a mass lack-of-support for this animated sub-line will hurt ALL of Star Wars, not just the animated line. Sure it will get Hasbro to stop making animated style figures (hopefully once and for all) - but it will also mean that retailers will be ordering LESS of the Star Wars product for their stores. That does no one any good.

I guess my frustration really boils down to that from my perspective we are about to enter a loose-loose situation where either (a) the animated line will sell really well and Hasbro will "reboot" the figure line in a new animated style or (b) the animated line will rot on the shelves, Hasbro will drop the concept, but retailers will order less SW product, making the figures possible to find, driving collectors to online outlets and with a lack of brick-and-mortar store interest in the line, it could really be the start of the end.

The Legacy Collection / Re: Wal Mart Droid Factory Sets
« on: June 4, 2008, 12:42 AM »
I sure hope they don't have all but the Han set at retail and you have to get that one online.
How much a pain in the arss would that be.

I think things are a bit wonky with these on the WalMart website - the Han set reads "Not Sold in Stores" but you can buy it online.

The rest of the sets say that they won't be sold online, yet they also say they won't be sold in stores. Huh? In order to sell it, it either has to be online or in stores, it can't be neither. Unless they're going to mass-drop them from a plane or something.  :P

The Legacy Collection / Re: Entertainment Earth 6-Pack
« on: June 4, 2008, 12:37 AM »
While I doubt this is a possibility, I would love it if this box set was based around The Force Unleashed game and it was a vehicle by which we'd be able to get characters like Shaak Ti and Proxy.

They could include repaints of the Evo Trooper, Jump Trooper and two of those Stormtrooper Commanders (just like the 2" Force Unleashed set) and that would make six figures in the set.

No, the Indiana Jones vehicles...  I'm customizing a couple though for the 1:18 military toys I collect, yes.  I got two for Indy, and I'm hoping to get two to paint.  They're pretty spectacular molds from Hasbro so they work great with XD stuff since they're vehicles yet to be covered by them.

Oh cool - thanks for the clarification. Part of me was hoping that you had stumbled on some XD stuff that would work as vehicles with the Indy figures.

Tonight I saw, and bought, a 4WD at Wal-Mart...  Ironic we were talking about it, and bam, there's one waiting for me right after pay...  Nice.  That gives me two, so I'd like two more to customize into various war-accurate decoes and mods.  Very nice vehicles.

What line are you buying these from, the Ultimate Soldier stuff?

I upped the number of army builders I have from 4 to 6 for the German Soldier, Russian Soldier and Ugha Warrior - in two of these recent purchases, I guess the stickers had stuck together when the worker was putting them into the cardboard "crate" so instead of gaining six stickers, I actually scored eight stickers.

I'm up to seven complete certificates now.
