Saga Collection '06 / Re: Battle of Geonosis Wave
« on: March 21, 2006, 08:31 AM »

It's a great figure though.  I applaud it as probably the best in this wave.  Definitely far more than what Scorch is despite his popularity right now.  That figure's legs kill it but Sun Fac's pretty good overall.

From my brain, to your keyboard Jesse.  Looking at things objectively here, if you didn't have legions of scalpers, dealers, eBay entrepeneurs, and frantic fans who can't find the Utapau clone and Scorch, Sun Fac is clearly the best figure in this wave.  I too pick 1 or 2 up every time I hunt figures, and I'll keep doing that until I don't see them anymore.  I have left my share of Scorches behind on the pegs (I can't say the same for the Utapau clone though).  Scorch and Sora Bulq both had potential to be the best figure in this wave, but the articulation just kills that dead in the water.  And I love that Sun Fac isn't the "popular" one in this wave, because he is always left behind for me if I get to the store after the case is picked over.

And don't get me started on Foul Moudama.

Gotta give the big thumbs down to Foul Moudama right about now.  I just freed him from his plastic bubble prison and the figure is pretty damn useless.  Yeah, this same Talz figure we got eight years ago looks pretty smooth in a jedi tunic and oversized boots, but the articulation is piss poor, provides for no cool fighting stances, and to make things worse neither hand can hold the lightsaber.   A real lazy half-assed job I must say.

Not offended, CHEWIE, just wondering where the funny is.

 :P

Look at this picture:

Look how Quinlan Vos sits there so majestically presiding over the battle unfolding before him between 2 such deadly combatants.  Look how he bides his time calmly, even in the face of such danger to his own life.  You can't teach majesty and bravery like that, and Quinlan Vos just has it.

Now look at this ****.  Just look at it:

Willrow running scared for his life in the face of far less dangerous enemies than Sebulba and Jar Jar.  And he still didn't have the courage to stand and hurl Soft Serve at Imperials as they approach.

Where is the humor Bill Cosby asks?  Well, I think we all know the answer now.

Voted Neyo.Sorry, but ICMG & Yarna might out pegwarm the Nemodian Warrior.*everyone looks shocked*......unless they are produced in small numbers.

The Neimodian Warrior actually moved pretty good here, Darth Vader, Mas Amedda, and Polis Massan actually far out-pegwarmed the Neimodian...at least he was an army builder, I own about 8 myself.

ICMG, I'd buy one I guess, it'd make a good background character for a Bespin diorama.  I'm not excited about it though, but I'm not part of the inside joke around here.

___ Saga-013 Darth Vader - repaint
___ Saga-038 Darth Vader - Bespin Confession
___ Saga-xxx Darth Vader - Endor Confrontation

How many different ways do we need Darth Vader spruced up for this line already?  At this point, can we not just take the Evolutions version and stick him on a card maybe once a year, and put this ******** to rest already?  Every one of these versions is inferior to the evo version in some way.  It's not like Vader changes his outfit or armor like Luke or Han does, depending on what planet they are on.  I mean, honestly, unless you're a carded collector who takes it up the ass every year when Hasbro pulls this, is anyone else actually buying every version that comes out?  Holy geez.  This reminds me of those Where's Waldo cartoons where that stupid thing pops up in random drawings everywhere you look, except this figure pops up on a new card once every 8 weeks.

He's already part of the EU...I hope we can make him a bigger one

Would an onscreen figure really be considered EU?  I mean, Boba Fett only had a few seconds more screentime than ICMG, so I don't think duration of screentime really matters.

Kyle Katarn, Scorch, McQuarrie Concepts...these I consider EU.

The US baseball team sucked period. There should be rules in place that if you play pro sports in a country..are a citizen OF that country that you are not allowed to play world scale games for another country(olympics OR this).

If folks want to come here, move in, become a citizen ect. then they should be made/restricted to play for the US only in any aspect. It's pretty disgusting IMO.

I don't care if they can't make this kind of money at home. Then don't come here for the money then.. and leave and play for your 'home' country that you don't even live in >:(

It SHOULD be done...America's too nice with our  freedoms sometimes, I like how it comes back to bite us in the ass ::)

I don't think that's why the US lost though.  Other countries like Cuba and South Korea had been training for this thing like it was the Olympics.  Our players, and when I say "our" that includes Team USA PLUS Venezuela, Dominican Republic (Tejada, Guerrero, Soriano, Pujols, Ortiz, Alou etc.) took a lot of time off after October and are nowhere near the game shape that Cuba is in.

If you look at the 2 final teams, Japan and Cuba, there are hardly any MLB players there.  Cuba I think has none, and Japan has at least Ichiro but maybe nobody else.

Bottom line is, the US considers this an exhibition, sending it's players before they even participated in training camp, and some other countries view it as the be-all and end-all of their life.  Cubans are calling their win over Dominican Republican in the semis the greatest moment of baseball for their country ever  ::)

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Bonus Mini Hologram Figures
« on: March 19, 2006, 02:57 PM »
I was just opening a crapload of Saga figures and now I'm looking at this 50 count deep pile of hologram figures, that I could really care less about.  I started thinking about what a useless, and probably costly, accessory this is, especially if you consider that Hasbro probably had to make all new molds for each of these translucent blue pieces of crap.  They could have at least made useful holos such as a small emperor to sit in Cody's hand, or a neutral Vader for Veers to take orders from.

Then again, having a pile of useless gimmicks is really nothing new when I look at my other huge pile of worthless ****, that some of you know as "Jedi Master Points."

(I'm not complaining much about these figures though, most are great like the new Cody, Utapau grunt, AT-AT driver, Veers, Sun Fac etc.)

If the Cowboys D is even average, with Julius Jones, Marion Barber, Terrell Owens, Terry Glenn and a decent Bledsoe, they are going to be a notch better than the Redskins and Giants for sure.  There's always a chance Eli Manning is going to show dramatic improvement and the Giants will win this division though.  I really am not that impressed with the Redskins' signings, and their QB sucks.  The Cowboys get TO at wideout and all of the sudden adding Randle El and Brandon Lloyd doesn't look so hot.  It'll be an interesting division.  Forget Philadelphia.

I opened a few Sun Facs today, and I am very impressed with this bug. AOTC era Geonosians couldn't stand up to get away from a Raid can. This guy is detailed, loaded with joints, and the wings and two weapons make him ultra-poseable. A great army builder if you like the prequels. Too bad they made that scar business on one side of his face, a little more generic and I might have bought a couple more.

2 light scrapes with a scalpel blade and that scar paint is GONE!  Don't let it stop you from army building this guy.

« on: March 19, 2006, 10:48 AM »
After about a month of seeing 4 Derlins and 3 Riekkans on Targets pegs, I went in there this morning an hour and a half after they opened and saw boxes out for stocking the pegs.  There were 4 cases, the first three that the employee opened were all a mixture of Carkoon, Hoth, and Geonosis (1 Scorch per case, but no Utapau grunts) and then the 4th case was the brand new Coruscant wave and I scored Cody, 2 Utapau grunts, Foul Moudama, Firespeeder Pilot, Lushros Dofine, Anakin and Obi Wan robes, 2 Scorch.  I left the Grievous and Ki Adi on the pegs.  Great morning!
