Title: LEGO 2015
Post by: Diddly on July 23, 2014, 03:15 AM
MTV has revealed the first 2015 LEGO Star Wars set, the Wookiee Gunship (http://www.mtv.com/news/1875179/lego-star-wars-rebels-san-diego-exclusive/)

Quote
75084 Wookiee Gunship
Protect Wullffwarro and his Jedi friend, Kanan Jarrus, with the powerful LEGO® Star Wars Wookiee Gunship. As featured in the Star Wars: Rebels animated TV series, this amazing battle-ready craft has loads of weapons to see off any invading force, like movable front cannons and an elevating top cannon. When the action really heats up, raise the wings into attack mode and unleash the never-before-seen rapid shooters! If you run low on ammo, open the side hatches to access the spare supply, then lower the rear bay door and unload the mobile gun post. Includes 4 minifigures with assorted weapons: Wullffwarro, Kanan Jarrus and 2 Wookiees. Available January 2015, 570 pieces, $69.99.

I'm guessing this is something from the Rebels cartoon?

Cool.

I hope they find a way to re-release the Wookiee Catamaran someday.  This is an old set I've never been able to track down for a reasonable price.

+1

Would love to get that vehicle, as well as the Wookiee "helicopter" (or what ever that vehicle is called)

Rumored Spring 2015 Lineup (http://www.groovebricks.com/lego-star-wars-winter-2015-rumors-list/)

Microfighters:
- ARC-170 Starfighter
- Vulture Droid
- Snowspeeder
- AT-AT
- Republic Gunship
- Homing Spider Droid

System Sets:
- Geonosis Troopers
- Shadow Troopers
- AAT
- T-16 Skyhopper

Rebels Sets:
- Imperial Troop Transport
- Ezra’s Speeder Bike
- TIE Advanced Prototype
- AT-DP
- Wookiee Gunship

I'm digging this lineup, only one official OT set, which gives me more time to pick up the OT heavy lineup just released. I'll probably buy a bunch of the Imperial Troop Transport sets.

Made the mistake of going to a TRU today but I did see some of the new sets. I almost snagged the Shadow Troopers and Stormtrooper Dropship sets but ended up passing for now. I saw a few of the new Microfighters and the T-16 too.

These will be hard to find for a few weeks but by February they should be everywhere.

Put together my UCS Slave I set today - great build, lots of interesting building techniques making it a fun/engaging build. Once it's together and in the stand, it is certainly an impressive addition to my Lego Star Wars collection.

I definitely recommend getting this set, especially if you don't already have a Lego version of this iconic vehicle.

Definitely going to have to get the Shuttle Tyderium.  I've missed prior versions of the shuttle and its easily one of my favorite SW ships.  Nice that Lego brings these classic ships back out every few years in upgraded designs to boot.

Got a postcard in the mail today hyping May the 4th deals that will be taking place online and in LEGO Stores. Spend $75, get a free Admiral Yularen minifig (ANH version). Free LEGO ANH poster with any purchase (the same one they posted on Facebook a while back. UCS TIE Fighter officially on sale. "Select sets" on sale, a list of which should leak out sometime soon if it hasn't already. Judging from years past though it will be lame stuff like magnets.

At that current rate of conversion (if my stupid self is reading the currency rate thing on Google correctly), Poe's X-Wing would cost around 120 bucks in US dollars.  That is A LOT for a Lego set containing 717 pieces.  The general going rate for a Lego set in recent years has been 0.10/per piece, and this set would average out at nearly 17 cents per piece.  Usually you can see a bit of a markup when there are relatively unique pieces included (such as with the Dewback or the Hulk/Gorilla Grodd/Wampa "big minifigures"), but I can't imagine what they would/could include with that piece count that would justify a 120 buck price.

Although, if they include about 20 minifigures, I may change my tune.  ;D

FBTB posted (http://www.fbtb.net/2015/06/03/the-force-awakens-set-names-piece-counts-prices-discovered/) the following USD prices, which line up more with what we are used to seeing here in America:

75099 Rey’s Speeder, 193 pieces, $19.99
75100 First Order Snowspeeder, 444 pieces, $39.99
75101 First Order Special Forces TIE Fighter, 517 pieces, $69.99
75102 Poe’s X-wing Starfighter, 717 pieces, $79.99
75103 First Order Transporter, 792 pieces, $89.99
75104 Kylo Ren’s Command Shuttle, 1004 pieces, $119.99
75105 Millennium Falcon, 1332 pieces, $149.99

The prices all appear to be "the usual" (ie closer to the 10-12 cent price per piece ratio) but it seems we're getting a small price hike too.

Are these the five sets that just got released, or are there more?

75016 - Imperial Assault Carrier
75094 - Imperial Shuttle Tydirium
75093 - Death Star Final Duel
75092 - Naboo Starfighter
75091 - Flash Speeder

Also, has anyone seen reviews of these?  The last four have already been done before and I'm curious if anyone thinks they're interesting enough to rebuy.

Okay, that's a bit more in line with what I was expecting and/or am used to, price-wise.  I'm hoping that the minifigure selection is good/varied, and there isn't an Iron Man Syndrome with these sets.  At the very least, we won't have to worry about Rey only being in the most expensive set.

Are these the five sets that just got released, or are there more?

75016 - Imperial Assault Carrier

That's all that's out right now, but I know there's a new Sith Infiltrator (with Maul, Qui-Gon, Anakin, and Watto minifigures) on the way as well.  Not sure of piece count or cost as yet, but I'm guessing it will be a retailer and Lego Shop exclusive.  I haven't seen any reviews yet, but judging by the boxes at TRU (which has already added their $5.00 TRU tax to the prices), the Naboo Fighter looks nearly identical to the 2011 version.

I saw all of those sets except for the Death Star Final Duel set today.  I really liked the look of the Imperial Assault Carrier, too.  LEGO just has this cool way of going places where Hasbro is just unable to, because I doubt they're ever going to touch upon a vehicle like the Imperial Assault Carrier from REBELS.

Picked up the Imperial Assault Carrier, but won't put it together until this weekend with the kids.

I agree, it looks really cool and is something that Hasbro isn't likely to ever get near.  It'll work great next to The Ghost, another ship Hasbro probably won't ever touch.

Well the minifigs are awesome, but the models themselves leave a lot to be desired. Not digging the X-Wing, probably because of the colors. The Falcon looks exactly the same as the 2011 version but with crappier mandibles.

Pics removed but they're making the rounds elsewhere.

Digging the alien crewman for the X-Wing, and in general the Resistance Pilot looks.  Similar but updated.  I like it.  I appreciate Abrams' team generally knowing how to make things look the same, but evolved.  Lucas seemed incapable of that with the PT somehow and it bugged me.

Check out the front page for a good link to them.  :D

Saw some funny comments in the Reddit LEGO section thread about these pics. People saying they're glad Disney/Hasbro/LEGO aren't allowed to show anything off because "it'll all be a surprise." Guess these people just fall ass backwards into money?

I mentioned this in the Recent Finds/Purchases thread over in the TFA forums, but I wanted to reiterate it here (because of its relevance). I picked up the General Grievous Constructible figure on Friday morning and it is easily the best toy I've gotten from the entire launch (note: I can't afford expensive BB-8s).

I've never been a fan of Lego's previous forays into the constructible figure realm (Bionicle, Hero Factory, DC/Marvel), so when they said they were doing SW, I kind of groaned. Still, with Grievous being mostly mechanical, I thought it might work. And it does. Boy, does it work. Not only is it the best example of a Constructible figure Lego has done, IMHO, it manages to be one of those rare toys in this day and age that is significantly larger than what you expect by looking at the box.

Grievous is at least 13" tall, and that's hunched over in his typical posture. The build is also much more interesting than past constructible figure builds (even though it's still all Technic and Bionicle/HF parts) but once he's built, the size and detail is just amazing. Words can't do it justice. If you're a fan of Lego, or Grievous, or looking for something different, I can't recommend this one highly enough. Sadly, with the past history of licensed constructible figures from Lego (not to mention prequel stigma and his being the most expensive of the range) I think a lot of folks might pass, but trust me when I say this one is a winner and one of my favorite purchases this year.

The Grievous fig got GLOWING reviews from some employees I talked to at the LEGO Store over the weekend. They said it apparently sold out online and in all of the LEGO Stores across the nation.

The Grievous figure is AMAZING. I am holding off on getting more of these constructable figures because I'm thinking there may be promos between now and the movie coming out and I'm going to want to have Star Wars sets I need to still pick up - but I can't wait to see if Darth Vader is as good as the Grievous one.

Out of the mini-fig scale stuff, I've completed Kylo Ren's transport, the First Order Troop Transport, the First Order Snow Speeder and Rey's Speeder. Not disappointed in any of the sets so far, fun builds, unique/different designs from what we've gotten before in the Star Wars line, which is always welcome. I've put off the TIE, X-Wing and Falcon for last, gonna spread out when I put them together - but I think the X-Wing will be next...  ;D
