Revenge of the Sith / Re: "Evolutions" assortment...
« on: September 15, 2005, 10:26 PM »
KBZ, different strokes for different folks. I have 1 set, have had 7, and helped 7 other collectors in the area get one. I have no problem with you hoarding if your helping others in your area.  Just comes down to what you want. I only want 1 and I got one. IF my son wants one, then I would have gotten one for him.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: RotS - Deluxe Figures

I have a clone wars version of the spider droid and I have had no warping of the legs and it has been opened since I bought it. I love it! My son even plays with it from now and then. Passed also on the ROTS since I have the Clone Wars one.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: New Baby Arrived This AM

Congrats! Your story made me think of the song by Mike and the Mechanics In the Living Years where it goes "I'm sure I heard his(her) echo in my baby's new born tear, I wish I could have teld him/her in the living years.  Anyway, I firmly believe that our children do remind us of our parents who have passed on. I look at my son and at times I really see my father who died when I was 17 back in 1982. Again, congrats and enjoy your girl. Kids rock!

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Millennium Falcon In ROTS Packaging?

I'll actually wait until I see this thing or the previous one go on clearance. Both over way overstocked at the local TRU's. If I don't get it, no biggie.

Collections / Re: JesseVader08's Collection

Jesse, excellent collection for a carded one  ;)  I have to say and quote, "Impressive, most impressive!" Nice to see the wife lets you expand. I have my ROTS stuff out, and my favorites, and my LOTR collection, but over 3/4 of the collection is still packed until I finish another room in our new basement. I have to say damn you though. Just as I thought I was ready to begin backing off collecting SW, you've turned me on to the art! Now I have had to order some of T. Sando's artwork! It is amazing! I've seen it before, but stayed away until now. I showed the wife and because of some mix ups, I know what I am getting for Christmas! Can't wait to see them framed on the wall of my office.

JS, very nice job, and excellent customs! I also like what you did with your Twlik Jedi.  Nice variations.

Chewie,

Your collection is amazing, not for size, but for how you display. You have done what I have determine is what I am doing for both my Sw and LOTR figures: building some great dia's to display the figures in related to the scene(s) they are in.  I loved your customs too! Have to mention being an opener, this shows what can be done with opened figures. Not that my opinion really matters, but OUTSTANDING job! As always you rock!

Jocasta's Reading Room / Re: Post NJO books
« on: September 11, 2005, 06:08 AM »
Okay, went to the link and I have to list a HUGE gripe with anything on SW.com lately. The advertisment comes up with the close button, and the pop up won't close until it is done showing. Until I sit down and figure out how to get around that, I won't be going to those sites. I have having to watch an advertisment and StarWars.com seems to be doing this a lot on their site.

I'll pick this up at B&N for $17 after my discount. This will provide some good reading after watching the DVD for like 20x.  Anyway, looking forward to this one!

For $16 to $17 (after discount) this is one book I'll buy. I really enjoy the visual guides. I may pick up a second wih my educator's discount after looking at it in person as I have kids in my class who really like to look at these. Just have to make sure that they don't promote violence too much, or I'll have to stick to one.

Revenge of the Sith / #65 Tactical Ops Trooper (501st)

Two items. First, I think if you live in an area with good distribution on the other ROTS, you'll find the last 12 rather easily. Seems to me that there are pockets thorughout the country (Bay Area, So. Cal, Arizonia, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Chicago, and sorry, I don't watch the east that much living out west) that seem to get new stuff quickly and in abundance. Thus I am not worried about finding the items IF I actively hunt when they first come out. IF I miss them when the are released, then yes, I would be worried about not finding them.

I guess my second thought is that I am too a point that as much as I want some of these figures, IF I miss them, c'est la vie, no big deal. Don't take me wrong, I REALLY want some of these, but IF I cannot get them, that is okay. However, I think through our local collecting forum, I have helped enough people that if someone finds them before me, I will be able to get 1 of each figure I want.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS Gunship - Where the hell is it?!
« on: September 11, 2005, 05:31 AM »
DP, you make excellent points. I agree that with the ARC 170, this is one of the best ships to come out of the Prequel era. I love the 2 I have, but as you noted, due to size etc, I was determined that 2 are enough for me. I would agree that the biggest frustration with this unit is availability. I had not kept up on how Hasbro had marketed it, having seen the ship several times at TRU's in April.  Shame that their are some who want it only to profit by it; but I think we see that from anything hard to find.

Bilbo. I am sorry your collection burned up when your nephew threw it in the fire. May you find peace as you sail into the West. I'm sure your find the spirits of your collection in Eressa.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Gas Prices
« on: September 11, 2005, 12:53 AM »
Saw something similiar yesterday and today. A local chain food store that sells gas had it at $2.739 yesterday, then at $2.799 last night, then at $2.839 this morning, and then took it back down to $2.799 tonight. The day before Katrina the price at that gas station was like $2.40 or so.  The station attendant told us that if we had showed up 15 minutes earlier we would have paid the higher price today. We asked why the change. Because it was a Saturday am and more people gas up from 7am to 5pm on a Saturday then at any other time of the week, so the business increases the price slightly to maximize profit. Guess I won't fill up on Saturday there (it is still one the cheaper gas prices in the area).
