Vintage Kenner / Re: Latest vintage acquisition

Wow, I always learn something new in here. Did not realize the Lili Ledy Jawa had a removable hood - cool! How does that compare to the Vinyl Cape Jawa in terms or rarity/price?

I'm kind of back onto vintage buying right now with the recent lull in Clone Wars offerings. Over the weekend I was lucky enough to finally pick up my Early Bird Double telescoping Luke figure. Pricey, but worth it. Nice to have knocked that off the list as well.

I recently got my annual bonus at work and was hoping to actually parlay some of that love into a VC Jawa, but the prices on those things seem alot higher than the last time I was looking.

I had a chance at a Toltoys cardboard Death Star playset (essentially a licensed version of the Palitoy release) over this weekend but I foolishly balked at the BIN price and put in a traditional bid hoping to get it a little cheaper. Not surprisingly, I woke up yesterday to find my bid had been cancelled. Some douche offered the guy more money and he killed the auction. (That should not even be allowed BTW, but whatever)

Still psyched about DT Luke though!  ;D

EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought the idea to spring Randall was just a set-up to kill him, did not think we could get to the other place so soon.

The whole episode was really well done, from the opening scene to the very last one. I am definitely watching the re-run in HD tonight.

Loved that Darryl was not buying the half-assed getaway story.
Loved Andrea deadpanning to Rick "Maybe you should stop leaving". (she's right!)
Loved Glenn getting his walker killing mojo back.
I even liked Carl manning up and getting a little redemption at the end there.

Lori continues to be a real piece of work though. Mixed signals much? I'm sure that little chat is what sent Shane over the edge, thinking he could have back everything he wanted again. Real cute lady.

Definitely something going on with the dead changing into insta-walkers. So maybe they're all already infected and the virus just presents after death as was speculated previously?

Really psyched for next week, but already feeling bummed we are looking at another long hiatus after that.

Is Fringe getting cancelled? I actually enjoy it, i hope that it isnt.

There hasn't been an official decision yet, but it's not looking all that great at this point. The sad thing is, Fox won't tell them one way or the other before the final episode is shot, so they have no idea how to write things out for the rest of the season. Which means we will probably get one of those lame, unsatisfying "pseudo-endings" that doesn't really resolve anything.

I've always liked the show, but I think this season they finally stapped over the "X-Files" line, the point at which the show begings to collapse under the weight of its own mythology and becomes self-contradictory and ultimately a logical mess.

I mean seriously, BOTH Ninas are evil now?  ::)

First thing I thought about when I saw "Rubio tears ACL" on the sports ticker was that post above. Ouch.

Nice news to wake up to...Skins trade the house for rights to snag RGIII next month.  :o

It only cost:
2012 First Round pick
2012 Second Round pick
2013 First Round pick
2014 First Round pick

Yikes. I definitely think they overpaid, but I also think it's the right move and one they had to make. Cleveland was essentially offering the same deal, only they came late and apparently balked at trading both their first round picks this year, and Skins had a higher second to offer. It was really close though.

It just makes sense. The Shan Clan was obviously not overly wowed by the second-tier talent at the senior bowl/combine. RGIII fits their mold perfectly, great arm, mobile, athlectic, etc. And he's as dangerous above the neck as below. You can't argue the choice. Seems like a solid character guy as well.

They weren't going to make any strides with the current group of QB's they had, and with Peyton out and Flynn apparently not in the running, they only had the draft as their best option. This is probably the one year they could afford fewer picks as well, being so far under the cap will allow them to fill more holes with free agency.

And let's face it, the team was not going to make a real run this year anyway, but the fanbase will be a helluva lot more patient with RGIII in the fold than they would have been with anyone else in there short of Manning. This buys Shanny and company more time if nothing else.

It's a QB league, and if you don't have one of the few elite guys, you're just treading water. When you have a chance to get a guy of that caliber, you have to take it. I just hope they can build up enough of a team around him quickly enough to facilitate his success.

Go Skins~

I think Lucas needs to go back and ret-con that scene with Yoda from APM.

"Two there are always, well, not always...usually, but it's actually more like FIVE there are. The Master and his apprentice. And then his other apprentice. And that guy's apprentice. And then her apprentice."

So yeah, there really is no rule of Two and Sith never die they just multiply.  ::)

Someone needs to do an EU story that consists of Darth Vader hunting down all these other Sith wanna-be's and brutally murdering them to restore order to the Sith again. That would be some cool stuff.

Picked up another complete set of deleted scene figures tonight at Walmart for $4 again, with an assist from Keyan Farlander.

Same scenario as last time, Keyan scanned fine at $4 but the rest did not ring up at all. It was a little easier to just get them to scan Keyan 5 more times though and be done with it. I guess they want as little hassle as possible at night.

Interesting thing was though - ALL of the Deleted Scene figures were actually on the shelves IN the clearance section, right next to the $1.50 Green Lantern figs. Looks like they just dumped the whole case in there. And this was not even all that close to the toy aisles.

Crazy-ass Walmart!

Kinda huh? Not what I was expecting I guess.

I'm already on record that the whole premise is just silly, but if they're going to go there I guess I am in.

I liked the opening logo in red...good touch.

I can never read the credits when the show airs live, but I would bet anything the voice of the weird snake thing was James Hong, the very esteemed David Lopan from Big Trouble in Little China and also of Blade Runner fame. He is AWESOME, great choice.

It felt weird to see Anakin and Ahsoka again. Naturally they happen to stop in for a bite to eat at the exact same restaurant in the galaxy that their Sith adversary just left. Hell, everybody loves that diner - best waffles in the outer rim, right?  ::)

I like the opening too where Savage is just randomly strangling some chick for apparently no reason. Did she spill coffee on him or something? And yet he runs away like a little girl from those scary police robots?

Kind of odd cameos for Mother Talzin and Asajj too. So I guess Moms is alive someplace after all. Good, more appearances = higher probability for eventual action figure. And I like that Asajj is taking the time to explore her new alternative lifestyle with the freaky purple chick. They make a cute couple.  :D

The junkyard planet was cool, their backgrounds always are on this show, but I agree it was straight out of Soldier. I guess they could rip off worse movies though. As for Maul? I kind of liked the weird spider legs, but the crazy act seemed a little over the top. I'm sure Sam was into it and all, but all the crying and giggling doesn't really befit a Sith apprentice. Kinda wish he had toned it down a bit more, like with the "revenge" line, that was well done.

But seriously, HOW THE HELL would Yoda and Obi-Wan know Darth Maul by name?!?!

You have to wonder if he is really worth it at this point.  Isn't he 36?  I think his price tag would cause salary cap issues for a lot of teams.  I'm sure the Redskin's fantasy football team captain owner will make a play at him, but I doubt Peyton wants to play in a colder climate or face his little brother twice a year.  I'm still hoping that the Skins trade up in the draft and pick a young QB.  Synder still hasn't learned his lesson about buying big name players though.

Apparently he has already told the 'Skins he is not interested in joining the team, so we can both breathe easier tonight. I guess he was not keen on facing Eli twice a year plus he seems to want to stay in the AFC. Crisis averted.

The Hunger Games is my wild card and I think it has the possibility of making the top 5 and knocking out The Amazing Spider-Man.  The books are huge and if the movie captures that it could do good things.  However, it's not what you would call a feel good story.  That could turn some people off and word of mouth could stop people from going if they didn't already know what the movie was about.

Here's my take on this movie, having only a vague idea of the plot and cultural zeitgeist:

The previews look boring. I don't know or care about any of the actors except Woody Harrelson and whoever the other adults of importance might be. It strikes me as some kind of tween mash-up of Lord of the Flies and The Lottery. Is this supposed to be some alternate reality or the future? The costumes seem ridiculous, even worse than that DUNE miniseries on SyFy a few years back.

Obviously as a cranky old man I am not the target audience for this thing, but neither am I for Project X or The Chronicle and those both looked a lot more interesting to me.

So much for that post-death plan of succession...

That place just gets weirder and weirder.

Anyone want to lay odds on the real story ever getting out?

What's Summer Glau doing now? Shouldn't she be joining the cast of another show that will soon be cancelled?

I kid...I miss her cute mug on TV, but she is the Kiss of Death. (Firefly, Terminator, Dollhouse, etc)

Is this the thread where we go to talk about how hot the girl who plays Ahsoka looks in her cosplay Ahsoka outfit?

Because I am not going to lie - its hot.

 ;D

Yes, let's talk about this.  :D

It's funny, Ashley is a cute enough gal I guess, not all that really, and the character she plays is a precocious preteen girl, which doesn't scream sexy to me either, but Ashley in cosplay AS Ahsoka?

FREAKING HAWT!

Peyton is released and nobody cares I guess...he sure would look good in purple

Yikes, the Ponder bandwagon over already?

Rooting for the Seahawks, Cardinals, or Dolphins to win the Manning sweepstakes, thus saving the Redskins from making yet another costly blunder that will set the franchise back even further.

RGIII FTW!

After all the chatter about the elusive Astromech BP going around, I snagged the last one I could find in this area today over lunch.

This same Walmart had dropped their clearance price on old Clone Wars figures to $1 a pop, but I didn't think to price check any of their old TVC stuff. Will definitely start doing that though.
