Revenge of the Sith / Re: Clone Trooper #6 - Worth Army Building
« on: April 5, 2005, 01:44 PM »
I think this is a great figure - the action feature really doesn't detract from the poseability of the figure. In fact, since I didn't get any Clone Pilots (very scarce in New Jersey) - I currently have the two I got to open, plus the one I got out of my opener cup w/figure set all at the controls of my open ARC-170 - all three of them fit just fine in the cockpit.

They can be put into a variety of poses which is a nice bonus too.

Comparing this figure to the preview Clonetrooper from AOTC or even the Clone Commander that came out in the regular Saga line - this figure blows both of them out of the water, especially since it has the ability to assume both a neutral and a wide variety of action poses.

No, they were never released.   :(

The early salesman samples popped up on eBay and a few Asian stores took pre-orders only to have them cancelled a few months later.  These 3 cups (and the rumored next wave of Vader, Greedo, Luke) are just another one of those mystery items that dissapeared into the night (like CD-ROM Bespn Dinner Vader).

Jeff

It's a shame really - I would love for them to do three Cups from each movie....

TPM:
Darth Maul
Qui-Gon Jinn
Queen Amidala

AOTC:
Anakin Skywalker
Count Dooku
Mace Windu

ROTS:
General Grievous
Clonetrooper
Obi-Wan Kenobi (young)

ANH:
Obi-Wan Kenobi (old)
Han Solo
Greedo

ESB:
Luke Skywalker (Snowspeeder Pilot)
Yoda
Darth Vader

ROTJ:
Leia as Jabba's Slave
Boba Fett
Luke Skywalker (Jedi Knight)

A collection of 18 cups like that would have seriously rocked. I know a lot of people don't like these because of the re-packed figures but I think it's better to look at these as cups w/a bonus figure 'cause imagine how many people would be upset if the figure was new in some way (new paint-op, new sculpt, etc...)?

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: RotS TV Commercials at the OS!

Yeah - that "Tragedy" trailer is very emotional - I'm going to have chills and the hairs on the back of my neck will be at full attention when Padme confronts Anakin on Mustafar...

great, great stuff!

I'm not going to start a new thread to ask this, so I figured this was as good a place as any.  Is there a spot to put Tarfull's club on his body?  It does have a small hole in it, but I couldn't find any peg to put in said hole.

The small hole is for his right-hand's thumb, if you look, there are three indents around the other side of the club, these indents all match up with this right hand so he can hold the club in the air. If you put the club in his hand and then turn his torso back and then let it spring forward you can get him to "throw" the club/log. It's a pretty neat action feature.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Target Figure with Cup Sets

I know the three second wave OT cups were up for sale at Amazon in Japan, but did anyone hear about someone who ordered them and got them shipped to them?

No, no one I know who ordered them (including me) ever got them.  My order was cancelled with a "we are not expecting this anymore" type e-mail.  :(

Jeff

I wonder then if those three sets are going to be like the second wave of cantina figures that WalMart cancelled after they were well into production.

I know someone had a set of three on eBay a while back - whomever won that auction must be pretty happy right about now...

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Clone Pilot!
« on: April 5, 2005, 10:37 AM »
I was able to score a single Clone Pilot along with the Exploding Grievous and the Palpatine #35 (w/Anakin's lightsaber). I would have liked to also find the Clone Commander and a couple more pilots but there was only the three figures on the pegs....

Oh well - hopefully these will be plentiful soon...

All three of the Targets I frequent have no more in the back so they are going to definitely have to start getting more stuff in.

Yes, that was annoying to me, too. I'm stumped as to where to put them, and am none too fond of slapping stickers on my ships all willy-nilly. Actually, I tend to check the box art for how Hasbro applied the stickers, and was surprised to find that there are many differences in the ship as depicted on the box compared to the final product. For example, the area where the "Target" label is applied on the rising wing-flaps is recessed in the picture, and raised on the actual toy. Odd.

Thanks for responding Jared...

I noticed what you're talking about to, re: the "Target" label...

I also scoured the box pics to see if I could figure out where these four other stickers go. I decided not to apply them in hopes that one day, Hasbro will release a corrected instruction set for the stickers (yeah right)...

Another thing that (kinda) annoyed me about this ship was the lack of cockpit stickers. The co-pilot is basically looking at a gray square. What's up with that? The pilot's console sticker is a big blur and the square in front of the co-pilot didn't even get stickers. I guess you get what you pay for and for this size ship, $30 isn't a bad deal...

Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS variation/error thread
« on: April 5, 2005, 10:28 AM »
I found a Palpatine #35 this morning and he's holding Anakin's lightsaber. I thought this was odd, but since I hadn't found the figure yet, I decided to get it.

I hope this ends up being the "rarer" of the two versions, I would much rather have this figure with a red lightsaber when I finally get one to open....

3519
Did these three cup sets ever come out? Now that we have the three cups from ROTS, it would be great to get them - if just for the cups alone....

Hey - now that there are 3 cups for ROTS and 1 cup for each of the other movies - does anyone know what ever happened with that second wave of OT cups w/figures?

Granted the pack-in figures sucked, but I still would love to add cups for Han, Yoda and Boba Fett to my collection. I wouldn't mind a couple more cups for TPM and AOTC either...

I know the three second wave OT cups were up for sale at Amazon in Japan, but did anyone hear about someone who ordered them and got them shipped to them?

Did anyone else end up with four extra stickers and no spot on the instructions as to where to put them? This annoyed me.

The nice thing about the cockpits though is that I was able to temporarily staff my ARC-170 with three CloneTroopers (#6) quite nicely - they fit in the three spots just fine (nice for a change IMHO)....

I was zooming all over the house with it like a kid!  :D

I can confirm the same - I have all three cups and I opened a set of 'em and they are all identical figures...

Obi-Wan Cup figure = Obi-Wan III-#1
General Grievous Cup figure = Sneak Preview General Grievous
CloneTrooper Cup figure = CloneTrooper III-#6

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Can You Break the Emperor's Code?
« on: April 4, 2005, 10:24 PM »
Ok - so I have all three in front of me now and I don't even see a "code 66" on the EB kit.

I thought you were supposed to be able to figure this out from the packaging, right?

I don't see ANYTHING on the packaging that even remotely relates to a "code" of any kind...

 ???

Welcome Anthony - I decided to make the JD switch back in Feb and I haven't regretted it since! You will find the boards here a completely liberating experience compared to the boards over at RS.

I'm glad you decided to join us, I always enjoyed your comments and insight over on the RS forums and I look forward to them here!

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Kids and ROTS (SPOILERS)
« on: April 4, 2005, 02:35 PM »
I agree with Chewie - the PT desperately needs a serious, dramatic, action-intense climax so that it carries the franchise (in story-telling succession) to the OT.

I remember reading an article somewhere after AOTC came out and the author basically was asking 'Would Star Wars have been a phenomenon if Lucas had released TPM first and AOTC second?" (in otherwords, no OT to draw on)

The fact of the matter is that both TPM and AOTC were both riding on the coat-tails of the OT and the lack of new SW movies for so long. If TPM had been the world's first taste of Star Wars, it is quite possible that TPM would have been all she wrote.

ROTS needs to be a movie that makes you go back, re-watch the TPM and AOTC and actually see all of the little hints and build-up events that lead to the fall of the Republic and Anakin. The PT needs ROTS to be its anchor so as a whole, people will one day look back on the PT and say - "yeah, they're a pretty good set of movies that explain how a sweet young boy became Darth Vader" - just like people look back on the OT with fondness - a fondness that, to be honest, is firmly anchored in the Empire Strikes Back - the other movie in the Saga that ends with the dark side having the upper hand.
