I read it. I liked it a lot. I have a half-finished review I hope to post one of these days.

In the meantime, here's an interview I did with Jim Luceno:
http://www.clonewarz.com/features/interviews/luceno.htm

I'll be doing Part Deux in the near future (including some more in-depth questions about LoE), so if there's a question you'd like to ask him, let me know and I might use it!

Note that it's a Singapore Vader, different from the American version....

Is anyone else planning on collecting this line that accompanies the upcoming movies?

Hasbro is making various toys including

5" scale Basic Action Figures (Approximate retail price: $6.99)

Deluxe Action Figures ($14.99)

Basic Battle Scale figures ($6.99) (apparently something like the Armies of Middle-Earth series)

Deluxe Battle Scale figures ($14.99)

And Dark Horse and Weta are making some spiffy-keen high-end polystone statues.

Last night I hit a BK and got Vader and Jabba with the adult meal (an additional $1.29, added to any value meal, for two figures).

The advantage to going at 9:30 at night was that the kid actually asked me which ones I wanted and rifled through the box for me. I was going to get Wicket and Jabba then he said, "We have Darth Vader too," so I got him and Jabba.

Vader is so cuuuuuute! I was sitting in the booth fiddling with his stubby arms and grinning like a total idiot. ;D

Plus I won a few free food items from the scratch-off game pieces.

Went back today. The cashier just grabbed two at random: Wicket and Carbonite Han. I was OK with both of these so I didn't ask her to look for specific ones.

I don't think I will go for all 31 though.

I read an article about the Trek aliens and that they got their name from the classification of sheep, but I guess they were wrong.  :'(

It coulda been the name for "sheep" in some other language perhaps....

Ah! I see, but you do realize that pakled means sheep or is the classification of sheep?

??? No kidding? I Googled it just now and the first five pages of hits are all Trek-related. I also tried Wikipedia....

On a semi-related note, TRU had the opportunity to put Holo Yoda in a case but apparently they chose not to to "keep the price down"... and then they went ahead and charged $10 for the figure anyway.   ::)

Although to be fair, it was also free with $25 purchase.

In the Hyperspace Reversal of Fortune webstrip Bly has the visor, and even in grayscale you can sometimes see the additional shading on the chin.

Hmmm ... wouldn't it make more sense to do all three with the same coloration?  ???

In any event, I'm looking forward to these. As figures they aren't spectacular but they're plenty adequate for dioramas and displays where you're not going to play with them much anyway.

I just hope they ship the hell out of these so there's enough for everyone.

I did buy 3 but none were for me--one went to Scott and two for Jeff to pass along to Morgbug--and all three were before the release.

I found eight on May 2nd; I bought one since our local meetup was coming up and I knew somebody would want one. Then I was asked to pick up 2 for Morgbug if possible. I went back the next day ... lo and behold the remaining seven were gone. I'm sure it was the work of scalpers -- how else would seven $13 figures have disappeared within 24 hours of my post in the store reports? ::)

It worked out OK because I called another nearby Target, and the extremely helpful employee found some in the back and held 2 for me at Customer Service where I picked them up Wednesday night.

As she was ringing up my figures the Customer Service clerk and I were chatting about Star Wars. At one point she asked, "By the way, isn't there supposed to be an exclusive figure coming out tomorrow?" I pointed to the clones and said simply, "That's them." "Ah," she said, and continued ringing them up. I wanted to elaborate, "So technically you shouldn't be selling me these" but for once I managed to keep my trap shut. Good thing, too. ;D

I watched most of these with the sound off since I don't want to be spoiled any more than I already am. But they are frickin blowing my mind.

The shot in the last one where Anakin kneels to Palps in the office gave me major chills even with total silence. :o :'(

Revenge of the Sith / Re: To soft good or not to soft good?
« on: May 10, 2005, 05:50 PM »
Sometimes it's more the quality material used than the idea that all soft goods look bad...

That's a great point, guys. A lot of my beef stems from material that is too thick, or stiff, or both, and therefore doesn't hang right. Or stuff with a strong texture which would be 6-inch squares at scale. This is one case where thinner and limper is actually better. ;D

Like I have the black robe from the Episode I Sith Accessory Set which is pretty thin material and works acceptably.

And yeah, you guys are right that the ROTS line is a real step up in the soft goods department.
