Revenge of the Sith / Re: Battle Packs (5 figure sets)
« on: April 10, 2005, 01:53 AM »
So the Clone Armored Obi-Wan is a colossal ****up just like we predicted. :'(  >:( How hard can it be ... stick an Obi-Wan head onto an SA (or even non-SA!) clone body and add a soft goods cape. In fact wouldn't that have been easier than sculpting a new cape/chestplate and the rejiggering the individual removable segments?? ::)

Anakin looks wonderful except for the head. WTF? It's hard to imagine even Hasbro could screw up the likeness ... they have a dozen previous headsculpts to fall back on, after all. It has been suggested that it's actually the head from Jett Zukassa, and somebody set up the display wrong. I really hope this is the case, because with the right head this'd be a great figure. Maybe I can do some type of headswap. I'm not a customizer, but even I should be able to figure that out.

I don't have that version of Yoda (well, except for the Holo variant), and he's OK, but his presence is not a dealbreaker one way or the other.

I passed on the SP Grievous the first time.

But I really need Asajj for my Clone Wars array. (Incidentally, it appears the legs and dress are different as well as the head.) If it weren't for her (and the faint hope of something good coming out of this Anakin) I'd pass on this set.

Probably pass on the second set unless the pictures end up looking really damn tempting.

And no way am I going anywhere near that OT set.

It'd be nice to see him, but I'm not gonna spend the entire four days in the line to get in. I'll content myself with standing 600 ft away at the edge of the crowd and peering at him through binoculars.

Plus, in the pic they show the Crab Droid being much larger than the others, which to me means they plan on making it the larger version.

Yeah but that's a Rebelscum composite. Hasbro only shows them individually.

Jeez. You guys aren't kidding when you talk about your OCD. ;)

If I take apart a shelf or pegful looking for a particular figure, I'll put them back where I found them. And if there's toys on the floor or shelf where they don't belong, I put them in their spot. Otherwise I just leave the stuff be.

Speaking of which, I hope they rerelease the AAT and Hailfire droid in ROTS packing. 'Cuz I missed out on both of these.

Hasbro now has an update of the later waves of Deluxe figures, consisting of the Clonetrooper 3 pack (retooled from Clone Wars pack), the Crab Droid, Stass Allie and BARC Speeder, and the Spider Droid.

Good stuff! I wish they'd released these in the first batch.

I'm glad the spider droid is being rereleased, but I wish they'd left it alone instead of enlarging the "super-kewl bigass launchermajig!!!11!" It looked fine before. ::)

As far as I can tell, the crab droid is a CGI pic previously seen in the Insider and Hyperspace. Apparently they don't have the actual toy worked out yet.

Spiffy pics of Three-Eyed Goat Boy, Governor Foul Stench, and the Fishie Dude.

All three look awesome.

<Edit: Thank you to whoever merged this. I thought there was a C2 thread already, but somehow I couldn't find it. :)>

Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS Purchases

At Midnight Madness I got AT-RT and Holo Yoda, and in late afternoon on April 2 I got Quickdraw Clone.

So I start small. ;) But I'll be going at it all summer in increments of $10 - 20. Initial stampede aside, we all know 90% of this stuff will still be available come December.

So ... white gown Leia, Tatooine Luke, R2-D2, and Chewie. Big ******' whoopy doo. The only thing that remotely appeals is what appears to be a telescoping saber.

Overall, if they do "start over" with the whole line, how do you feel about that?  Are you staying on board and checking the new line out, or if it is re-dos, will you call it quits?  I'm personally kind of excited about it, because I don't mind a resculpt now and then, or if they put out these figures and others like VOTC Han, Stormie, and just reissue them for the life of the line, just like in the vintage days.  Plus, there are some figures I never picked up in POTF2 that I still want, and wouldn't mind seeing re-dos of (2-1B, Zuckuss, 4-LOM, a new Bib, etc, etc.)  It will be interesting to see if this is indeed the start of a new line, or just a one time deal.

I would definitely stick around to check it out. In fact I'd pick up quite a few, such as resculpts of missed figures like you mentioned, and "ultimate" versions of figs I already own in earlier incarnations.

However, when they reach the point where all they're doing is re-releases and resculpts, then I'm out. We all know there's enough costume changes and background aliens to keep this line going for decades without repeats, but we also know that Hasbro won't do that--they'll keep redoing Cantina Han, Tatooine Luke, and Chewie twice yearly until their license runs out in 2018.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: AT-RT - the walker army-builder
« on: April 6, 2005, 04:45 PM »
I got one at MM at TRU. I'm pretty pleased with it. It does a pretty good approximation of a walker's lurching gait, although it does pull to the left as others mentioned.
