As for the Gunship, I've never bought one in any of it's previous forms, but I may have to finally pick one up. They never really appealed to me much, but they have started to grow on me. However, I don't think this new paint app is quite as nice as the original SAGA version (call me a girl, I guess I just like red more ;)).

Yeah the gunship is cool, I found the saga one on sale in Feb 03 and it's a BIG ship!

Has anyone seen the gunship resurface?
I saw them once at retail and now I'm looking to buy one. It would appear that Hasbro shipped one production run and then called it quits...

Weird. I could've sworn we had a Gunship thread floating around somewhere, since I know I've discussed it's glaring absence quite a lot lately, but I guess that was just over in the SoCal finds thread with the local fellas. Looked around for one in here (as I'm sure you did Travis), and found nada. Trying to figure out a clever way to split this one up (since we've got an ARC thread), but can't quite do it since Jesse had to go on blabbering about both of these ships in the same damned post! :P
Anyway, this ship came and went in the blink of an eye! I saw two at Midnight Madness at a Walmart, and then I came across a few that sat at our local KB for about a week, in May. Haven't seen a single one since then. Two sitings, ever. I kept telling the SoCal guys that I'm sure it would reappear at some point (the ARC was super hard to find that first month too, but then hit pretty abundantly). But alas, Hasbro has definitely proven me wrong on that one. No idea why this thing was so freakin' limited. One of the hardest to find items of the last several years, for sure.
The only place I know of that people were able to acquire this in the past couple months was online, at KBtoys.com. They had them for about a month or so, I think, but are finally sold out now. I'd keep an eye on their site Travis, in case anymore eventually show up. Otherwise, I think you may be **** outta luck on this one, like many others unfortunately are. I'd like to say that I still think more of these will show up somewhere, at some point, but that'd just be educated speculation on my part. Last I heard, these were fetching a pretty penny on eBay, so hopefully some more stock is found so collectors who missed out on the Gunship won't have to get raped on the cost of finally acquiring one...

Gunships are like red ARC troopers, they're all in Canada. I keep seeing them and seeing them. Of course they're big and shipping would be a bitch but I still see them when I bother to go looking.
I have the original and that's fine by me. It's nice they repainted it, but I passed on the CW repaint so I'll pass on this one as well.

I saw the Gunship at three chains and that was about it: KayBee, Suncoast and WalMart. When Suncoast had their sale in May or June I took advantage of it and picked up the ROTS Gunship for $25. It's strange how it was scarce, but I think the orders just weren't there.

WOW the ROTS Republic Gunship. I only saw it ONCE! at Kmart during the first week when the figures hit. and then *poof* gone. i bought it for $45 at a Collectible Show :'( i know i may regret it but its worth it!! 8)

I saw this ship twice, and both times were at two different Wal-Marts, and that has been nearly two months ago. Since I have been having some serious space issues lately, I didn't pick one up (the one Gunship I have, the Saga version, is huge and takes up a lot of space), but if I'd have known that it was going to be this tough for people to find, I would have picked one up for someone here. I'll keep an eye out though if they happen to show up here again (my area sometimes has the weirdest **** all of a sudden pop up).
I don't know what the case pack was for this, but on April 2, Target had the ARC-170 but not the Gunship, and every time WM has restocked these since early May (when was the first time they got them at all), it's only been ARCs.
Quick question too: was this paint scheme actually in the film? From what I remember, all the Gunships that were "in focus" were the traditional AOTC-era Red paint detail.

I don't recall seeing it either. Hasbro probably figured (correctly IMO) that collectors would rather buy a color variant than a straight rerelease, and most kids wouldn't notice the difference.

No, sending it loose wouldn't do a thing for the price. It's mostly by weight and the box doesn't add too much. I did find one this morning at TRU, but it was $39.99 so $45 after taxes (that's CAD, so $36 USD). I'm going to check some other retailers.

I saw one at the end of April when I bought my ARC-170, and I haven't seen one since. I'm still not too fond of the color scheme, and I already have the AOTC one. I passed on the CW version and if I ever see this one again, I'm sure I won't buy it. They just take up too much room.

I've only seen one too. I saw it once April 2nd in the morning after midnight madness, I bought the Arc instead because I thought it would be harder to find. Kinda wish I would have bought the gunship and picked up one of the 100s of Arcs I've seen since. :P

a month ago late at nite at WalMart I saw a case labeled ROTS GUNSHIP on the pallets to be stocked....so, thinking it WAS the republic gunship..I asked an employee to open the case.... NO, just two dumb arc170's(not that their lame ..just not what I expected.) I think around April 2nd the cases had actual green gunships packed with an Arc170 but then since they seem to not be producing the gunships anymore the Arc170's are still being packed in the "gunship" labeled cases

You know, even though there is a 90% chance that I wouldn't get one for myself, Hasbro really needs to ship more of these already. There's sufficient demand amongst the collecting community, the majority of whom have either seen it once or not at all, and it's cheap enough that it could be bought as a decent Christmas present by parents looking for something during the holiday season.
This doesn't even take into account the toy being part of the actual artwork for the "Clone Attack on Coruscant" Battle Pack that Target will be getting in the fall. I just don't see the logic in putting a toy on packaging and not having it available for purchase (I have the same complaint with the "new" Falcon). :-\

I agree with DoctorPadawan. This is extremely frustrating. I want one yet I either have to shell out 60+ bucks for one or get raped by people who wanna trade a complete OTC collection for one.
Plus I think its ridiculous that Hasbro decides to repackage the same Falcon from last year and make it an exclusive to TRU for 55 bucks. Knowing it'll just sit there collecting dust. Hell all the TRUs around here still have the original OTC Falcon for the same price. ::) And yet they are worried that the Gunship won't sell so they won't send it back out.

Since I've been doing this a lot lately, and since I had some free time today, I decided, for the benefit of the collecting community (well, us, really) I was going to try and get to the bottom of this whole Gunship shortage.
My first stop was practically every etailer online. None of the big ones (WM, KB, TRU/Amazon, or HasbroToyShop) had the Gunship in stock, and the latter of those four didn't even have it listed on the site. Several of the smaller etailers (EE, DNS Toys, New Force) didn't have it in stock either (as expected). Pretty much the only e-commerce site that has the Gunship is Ebay, and I think we all know how ridiculous that is, so I won't even go there.
Since it wasn't in stock anywhere, and nobody was even taking orders for future assortments, I decided to have a look around at the local retailers to see if they had any ARCs that would indicate a possible future shipment of Gunships. None of the three Wal-Marts in my immediate vicinity even had space in the SW section for this assortment at all, and both Targets and K-Marts had eliminated shelf space for this assortment entirely. So, etailers didn't have it, retailers didn't have it, so I emailed Hasbro Consumer Affairs late last night to see if the thing was ever going to ship again, and I pointed out what I did in my earlier posting above:

So, being the impatient freak that I am, I decided I might get a quicker response by calling Hasbro's 800 number, which I can give to anyone who wants it so you can bother them too. :) The woman with whom I spoke seemed rather surprised that a toy that was (according to her) released in March was not in stock at any retailers or etailers, and that HasbroToyShop did not even have them in stock. I asked her if the toy had been discontinued and she attempted to sidestep the question, but eventually she stated that she had nothing that indicated it had been discontinued, and she suggested contacting Hasbro Toy Shop's 800 number to see if they could tell me if any more were on order for that website, as that could give an indication of whether or not more would be showing up at retail.
Sooooo...HTS couldn't even find it as having been available on their website, and had to go to the actual Hasbro site to make sure it existed. Apparently (and this much I gleaned from my prior conversation with Hasbro CA) HTS is not directly operated by Hasbro, but is a subsidiary in the same way that NBC is/was a subsidiary of GE. HTS still has to order cases of product from Hasbro itself, which explains a LOT of why their website is such a mess. Anyway, she stated that the Hasbro system still showed that the Gunship could be ordered by retailers, and that (watch out for the mantra) since it was such a popular item, the possibility existed that HTS could get it and stock the site in the future. So, pretty much, no new information from them.
So, long story short (if you even bothered to read all that mess), here's what I learned from two divisions of Hasbro:
1. The Gunship may or may not ship again (nothing new) but Hasbro's various reps couldn't confirm or deny anything.
2. HTS being a wreck is Hasbro's own fault for not shipping enough product to itself. Now, here's where my Hasbro humor kicks in: Hasbro is always keen on blaming retailers for the gluts or droughts of product. In this case, the retailer is Hasbro. Now, since Hasbro never wants to accept any wrongdoing or blame in any situation, how will they be able to not blame themselves for either over/underordering on one end, or for either over/undershipping on the other end. Will this be the logical fallacy that makes Hasbro's heads explode, or will this be the point where Hasbro's SkyNet becomes self-aware and exterminates us all? :)
But yeah, I'm still no clearer on if and when the Gunship is going to ship again. Sorry guys, I did what I could. :-\

Now, I'm not going to do the obvious thing here and let out a huge guffaw at the audacity of the "updated on a daily basis" comment about HTS.com (okay, so I just did), and I realize that this is probably a form email they send out, but at least we have it in writing that the Gunship is, according to the ChatBot who might be a real person, still in production and still shipping to stores. So, even though Hasbro's word doesn't hold much salt with many (including me a lot of the time), they claim that there are still Gunships being made and shipped.
Of course, this could all just be wishful thinking, but if you're looking for a Gunship, this is at the very least a positive sign, I suppose.

Well I really like this ship and will like to have all three paint schemes, need the ROTS one.
The ship is awesome. It has all sorts of play features for kiddies and collectors alike. You can put a speederbike inside as well as a full complement of clones, can it get better?
Plus it is huge.

I think that most of the fuss about the ship is based on the availability of it as opposed to the ship itself. Hasbro shipped these in one case assortment very early on, and hasn't reshipped it since. There are a lot of inconsistencies with the marketing of the line as it relates to the Gunship (most obviously with the toy itself being used as the backdrop for the upcoming Target Clone Battle Pack), and the fact that it isn't available at retail right now is, IMO, a major faux pas by Hasbro. At least that's how I feel about it.
The majority of collectors that want the ship seem to be wanting it for diorama reasons. They collect a lot of Clones and want something for them to ride in on their missions, be they in photo novels, displays, or just to play with. At this point, it seems to be more economically sound to pay 30 bucks for a ROTS Gunship than it is to pay through the nose for a Saga/CW Gunship. So, there's that perspective.
As always though, you've got the speculators who actually have this thing buying them up whenever they see them so they can sell them on Ebay and support their Doritos habit. One per case in one assortment for a rather visible and popular ship design is just asking for Ebay pandemonium, so that's why I went on my rather long and involved quest to find out what the exact status of the ship was last week. It was not so much to get one for myself (like I said, this would be something I would probably pass on), but to try and figure out the truth behind the situation surrounding the toy since nobody seems to really know what's going on right now.
The ship itself, as you already know from having two, is a great toy, and if it weren't for the fact that it's so damned big and impossible to display on a lot of my shelves, I'd probably be hunting for this new ROTS version. It's one of my favorite ships from the modern SW line(s), but as I said, my problem with it not being more widely available has to do with the massive amount of Clone toys being marketed (being found is, obviously, a totally different matter) and having nothing to ride around in.
So yeah, in summation (since I'm long-winded as hell), it's a piece that a lot of people want for various reasons, that kids should be able to get on Christmas morning from Santa Claus for their Clones to ride in, and a great ship design with what appears to be a very cool paint job, and for whatever reason, Hasbro and retail haven't really followed through on its availability to any one group of people.

DP, you make excellent points. I agree that with the ARC 170, this is one of the best ships to come out of the Prequel era. I love the 2 I have, but as you noted, due to size etc, I was determined that 2 are enough for me. I would agree that the biggest frustration with this unit is availability. I had not kept up on how Hasbro had marketed it, having seen the ship several times at TRU's in April. Shame that their are some who want it only to profit by it; but I think we see that from anything hard to find.

Right now it's telling me I can't combine, but then again the last book I ordered had estimated delivery of Oct 17, 2005 - Nov 2, 2005 and it arrived yesterday. So I'm not sure how much stock I put in that.
Originally my game plan was to wait patiently until they showed up again in stores. But who knows if it ever WILL see the light of day again, so I just ordered the damn thing to get it over with. ::)

The two I ordered a little while ago came individually boxed in huge boxes, and super minty.
I don't know which e-tailer it was, but I heard they were just slapping on the tracking stickers right on the outside of the box. :o ::)

Oddly I found one of these locally today. $45 CAD after the taxes, but that's pretty standard retail for up here. About $36 USD total or so. I don't really want one but I figured if I buy one, they should become remarkably plentiful, thereby helping you guys out ;)

Interestingly enough, yesterday I saw some lucky guy walking through a TRU with one of these tucked under his arm. I guess they're still shipping. Hmmm...

Has anyone who ordered these when they were available on TRU.com last Thursday gotten a shipment notification yet? I ask because mine was scheduled to ship Friday, then it was pushed back until Sunday, and when I called today to see what was up, the CS rep said that they were currently out of stock, but that TRU should get more in today and that orders would be filled tomorrow.
He also gave me a free overnight shipping upgrade (with an expected ship date of tomorrow) which is usually a sign that they aren't getting any more and they have nothing to lose by offering free expensive shipping on an order they won't end up filling anyway, at least in my experiences. I certainly hope I'm wrong, but Amazon's done such a wonderful job of actually filling orders for items they claim are in stock or coming soon so far this summer, I'm more than a little skeptical. :-\

Well, I actually received my shipping notification today, and it is supposedly going to be here tomorrow, so who knows what they are doing. If I were you, Jay, I'd call (their 800 number, which is buried on their site is 1-800-201-7575) and complain, because it got me free overnight shipping and I think that's the only reason mine went out before others' orders seemed to.
That being said, Amazon/TRU.com is really pissing me off as far as stocking goes in general. Half the stuff listed in the SW section is from Brian's Toys, and the other half is listed as either "No longer available" or "Not yet released." The Evolutions Anakin/Vader set has been out for a little over two months and it's still "Not Yet Released." They take preorders for items that they never end up fulfilling (the Unleashed wave 2 fiasco this summer was the most obvious one), they will randomly change ship dates, and arbitrarily ship orders and delay orders on a random basis.
Their customer service is still top notch, but their inventory and follow-through is just piss poor right now.

Long story short, mine had an estimated shipping date of September 28, then it was moved way out as well. But it did ship yesterday--even though the estimated arrival is November 15. ::)

I got mine around noon yesterday, and it arrived in a box that was at least three times the size of the Gunship box itself. It was filled with those air bladder packing things and the box was in perfect condition. One thing that did stand out about it was there was a sticker on the bottom of the box that looked like a secondary UPC code, but I have no idea what it was for, and as the box is now on its way to a landfill, I have no way of checking.
I'm still amazed that this piece isn't available at retail, and I have yet to hear a decent and definitive explanation from Hasbro as to why it's not at retail right now. The fact that they're shipping to etailers like Amazon and TRU is all well and good, but it would be nice if they stayed in stock for more than 10 seconds online, and shipped to regular retail so people can have a shot at getting them. I'm going to keep bugging Hasbro about this until we get a good answer, and I'll keep everyone updated about what I find out.

Whee! It arrived late this morning, in what I suspect is the same giant box DP got, filled with air bladders also.

Bought my second Gunship yesterday at TRU in Los Angeles. Only the second time I've seen it (first time was 4/3, when I bought my first one). Keep a lookout guys, tney are still shipping!!!

I saw at least two sitting on a TRU shelf in Connecticutt this morning. And I saw it quite a bit at KayBee when the ROTS line launched.

I found two (bought one) at KB Toys in Springfield VA on Saturday. It was $29.99. I've passed on them all until now. They totally grew on me and I also lucked out and found a Target Clone Battle Pack on the shelf. Scalpers really have Targets number as all they do is use the DCPI # and if YOU don't use it then you are SOL. I've just about given up on the Stealth Trooper and it hasn't even come out yet. I'm thinking about ordering it from overseas... :'(

Don't give up... Keep plugging away. I went the day the Target Clone was due to release and scored 2 that day so there's luck if you go immediately... Just gotta be on the ball I guess.
I've heard tell that the Gunship was at KB Toys up here around Pittsburgh as well, and I don't believe it was overpriced compared to elsewhere. So that's good news for people still hunting that thing down.

Last night I finally got around to putting the decals on and trying out the various missile shooting thingies. I wish they'd tweaked the decals since the blue clashes with the new olive-green/mustard trim.
For some reason I'm really delighted with the side doors that open at the touch of a button.
Great vehicle all around.

check your local Kay-bee's boy's and girls. over the weekend i saw a total of 5 gunships in the 2 kb's closest to my house. of course i had to buy 3 of them, keep them away from those scalpers.

Greetings everyone! Long time stalker, 1st time poster. (I just don't have much time to actually dedicate to too many message boards) Thanks for the tip, I haven't seen one of these since Midnight Madness and all of those were smashed to hell and back. Here's hoping that these will be plentiful, I overheard a kid the other day searching for one at TRU and just thought to myself, good luck with that one, I search almost every other day and haven't had any luck yet.

Got one! Kay Bee Toys in Tuttle Mall in Dublin Ohio. They had two but when the associate got down the first one for me she dropped it on the corner of the ladder putting a fist size hole in the side of the box. I took the other one. :) Still one there though for someone who doesn't care that the box is dinged hard.

When where you there? Either I just missed you or you were the only other guy in the store at the time I bought mine! It was my first stop on my way to Wally world and Best buy which neither of those stops did me any good. Still no twins figures, unleashed vaders were sold out (I'm glad my buddy at work picked me up one on his lunch break) and no chance of a clone 3 pack for the dvd release. I swear that box was cherry before she dropped. Almost made me want to cry :'( Good to see someone else local on here.

I'm finding them more and more as well. I'm sure the previous scarcity had a lot to do with the fact that they were under produced based on the sluggish sales of the CW Gunship. Now that we're seeing them again, I have a feeling they going to start sitting.

Well, I SAW one at KB Toys last night. Way on the top, above everything. Unfortunately, I didn't have 40 bucks or some insane amount of money for it. I'm probably going to wait until Christmas.

Yup, my area is continually getting these at TRU weekly. Im kicking my self in the ass now since I passed on the Clone Wars version one and it sat here for the longest time.

It's not all bad. I think the ROTS Gunship has a lower price point than previous versions. I seem to recall these going for ~$40 during AOTC and now they are ~$30.

Well, since I live in Canada both the gunship and ARC-170 each cost 60-70 dollars.
I was able to pick up a rots gunship with a #6 Clone Trooper(Really hard for me to find), I also saw a ARC-170 but I passed on it.
I might be lucky if I can get down to the tru across town and pick up one of thier 3, most likely by the time I save up enough money it will be gone.
However the Clone Pilot black variation is a peg warmer at my Tru, I have only seen lords of the sith evolutions pack and I am now kicking myself for not geting it, I just didnt like the tiny heads on them...creepy.
I am still on the hunt every other weekend trying to find a clone trooper to sand trooper evolutions pack.
I can only hope.
Then watch, as soon as I find one i'll have pissed it all away on a jsf which costs 30$ here, -sigh-.
Money is an issue.

That makes no sense to me. My Kay Bee has a few but at 29.99. I would buy a few of them at 10.98.
Hell I bought 3 for 39.99 from AOTC and 2 clone wars one. Ironically I only got 1 ROTS one at 29.99.

ARCs were more recent additions so I think there at normal price.
