This seems like a totally strange way to unveil a trailer. It would have been cool if it had been exclusive to some small mom-and-pop theaters for a week, as opposed to select theaters from large chains. I don't think this alienates fans (though initially it seemed like it), since the trailer will soon be released online and shown at all theaters, but it's just a bizarre way to roll it out. It serves no apparent purpose.
Universal's approach with Jurassic World is much more sensible.
