I am loving this series/concept - it gives us two highly sought after pieces (Luke, Leia) and it gives us an AT-ST, which I never expected.

Rock on Medicom, rock on.   :)

Sort of. I think it is a Snowtrooper Commander (http://www.studiocreations.com/howto/snowtrooper/images/snowt_commander05.jpg) (note the dots on the upper left chest and holstered blaster)   :o

Absolutely excellent! I wonder what the "deluxe" cost will be, but it doesn't matter anyway! AT-ST's? Man, what does that open the door to? Will the ANH deluxe wave build a landspeeder perhaps? I would have rather seen Han hoth (blue) as a carded variant than a regular figure, but I am very glad to see any snowtrooper that can be army built, officer or not!

Same thoughts as the ROTJ set...I'm bummed that we are getting another Chewie but the others look awesome!  I'd of preferred a Wampa over the AT-ST but that is just me :)

Man, I looked at Series 1 post first and now I see this post and I like these ones even more. It's going to be a really expensive Kubrick year if these come out late this year.

So the AT-ST could be broken down this way.

2 pieces for the feet

2 pieces for the legs

2 pieces from main body which may come apart.

Fantastic set!!!  LOVE the Luke and Leia figures.  The Han and Chewie are ok.  I'm a sucker for Imperials so I'll definitely like to get more than one Snowtrooper and the 3PO is ok for a repaint.  Friggin' LOVE the AT-ST!!!

AT-ST??  AT-ST??!!  AT-*******-ST!!!!!   ;D

I may just completely stop buying Hasbro and switch to all Kubrick all the time.  I may have to get in on this one depending on price because I'd love to have the AT-ST.  The figure set is nice as well, but that AT-ST is the selling point for me.

I love all this stuff, but I stopped being a completest a long time ago, don't have a ton of Kubricks left.
I'll treat these like the rest, keep just a few I like and sell the hard chase .

I don't mind an AT-ST at all, I think it's pretty cool, but were there AT-ST's on Hoth?  Or in ESB at all?  Thought they were only in ROTJ.  Not a big deal I suppose since they're already doing a Jabba with the ROTJ wave.

Would a Wampa be too small for a build-a-figure?  I also vote for a landspeeder.  Or a Bantha.  =)

Also, that new Hoth Han looks like he has his goggles down.  I think this is the difference between this new one and the old one, which has his goggle up.

The AT-ST was in ESB but only for a short time. All Terrain Scout Transport (AT-ST) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walker_(Star_Wars)#cite_note-SlavicsekATST-7)

Eh, a build-an-AT-AT would have been better.  But would require more figures.  =)  Thanks for the info.

Or a snowspeeder.  Yeah, that would have been cool, and not a whole lot larger either.

Loving this wave!  A++ to the Deluxe series.  My Kubes are currently unavailable for reference but what are the differences in the Hoth Han (as best as we can tell)?  Is it just the googles and perhaps coat color?   Luke and Leia look great.  I like the 3PO repaint.  The AT-ST will be awesome.

Here is a pic:

Looks to me like the goggles is the only difference.  Both jackets appear brown.

This Luke and Leia were the major missing parts of my Star Wars Kubrick collection, so I'm gonna have to track 'em down.  I really hope you can just buy a single case and get all you need for the BAFs here.  I also wish DST would learn a lesson from this, and convince Marvel to let them do Minimate BAFs.  I need me a giant Giant Man Minimate.

The Landspeeder seems to be getting a few votes, it can be done like the Kinder Surprise stuff. Just needs to be a bit bigger tho.

I just wanted to get this thread back toward the front, and start hoping for a release yet this year.

I'm thinking our ratios will be something like:

4 snowtroopers
3 Luke Hoth
2 Leia Hoth
1 Chewie
1 Han
1 K-3PO

At least I hope it looks something like that- I want a squad of snowtroopers in the imperial army.  ;D

I suppose they could be coming in something more like a set- that would be a new direction for the SW kubricks, and I am not sure there is a precedent in the other kubrick lines. I sure hope not, as it would be a bummer not to be able to get more snowies.

With the Jabba set slated for June 2010 are there any guesses about the Hoth set release. Is it normal for photos of future sets to be around a couple of years before they go on sale? I've no experience of kubrick releases so just wondered what you guys thought.
Title: Re: Deluxe Series 2 - Hoth
Post by: Morgbug on October 25, 2009, 05:33 PM
The old release pattern was quasi-June and quasi-November, so two releases in a year was/is quite normal.  If series 1 deluxe is down for June, series 2 could be November or sooner (or later).

I'm more excited for this then deluxe series 1, do you think it will be just 1 at-st per box?  Only time will tell with the deluxe series one, I'm sure one part will come with the 1:12 figure ???   I may have to split a master case with someone because I am all about the snowtroopers and at-st's

Yeah, it would be good if the Snowtroopers were 4:12 like the Sand/Stormtroopers were so a wee army could be built  :D

Those look really cool and the AT-ST is excellent.  Unfortunately, I'm not really a big enough fan of any of the individual characters to really warrant a box purchase.  I'd just like the AT-ST to go with my AT-AT Driver.  :-\

Well, I guess Kubricks and budgets have never been a good mix...

That snowtrooper is a new sculpt- different chest badges, no pouches on the kilt, and a working holster. Very nice.

x3 Snowtrooper Commander

I was just guessing with my post. I was hoping for a Veers wearing is AT-AT Commander armor as the other was just in his plain officer outfit.

I knew we'd get a plethora of Snowtroopers in this wave.  ;D I'd rather have Chewie's counts flipped with Leia or R3P0 (seriously, do I need a 4th chewie anyway?), but this isn't too bad.

Here are my predictions for chases:

Hoth Rebel Trooper (1:48)
Hoth Luke Skywalker - Battle Damaged (1:96)
FX-7 Droid (1:96)

Here's who I'd much rather find, but probably a snowball's chance on Tatooine:

Veers in armor or an AT-ST Driver would be sweet!
Probot isn't too far-fetched depending on the package size
Dash Rendar is actually the chase I'd love most and he fits with Hoth, but I don't think they'll step into EU territory on these.

Gotta think one of the chases would be AT-ST driver, considering the build-a-vehicle.  I hope Rebel Trooper is there, but not a 2:48 ratio, rather a 1:12 (each case)...and hopefully replacing one of those Chewbacca's.  Man, can't wait!

Here's all I could get out of Medicom:

"Chase for SW DX,, sorry, I am not allowed to say it.... even to my brother..
You will be excited for sure  :) "

Thinking about the chase possibilities is gonna drive me crazy. :P

Yeah, based on the AT-ST being the build item, I'd say an AT-ST Driver is a good chase guess, same goes for a Kenner-inspired Brown Hoth Rebel based off the Hoth Luke figure (we all know how Medicom loves the Kenner stuff).

A probot, wampa, or TaunTaun would be fun chases... but man o man would they be EXPENSIVE if they were rare than 2:48.   :-\

FX-7 would be neat to go with the 2-1B we already have.  Guess we wait and see...

Here's all I could get out of Medicom:

Yeah, when it comes to chases, Medicom is super secret.  I have chatted with the Medicom guys many times and that is the one constant - first rule of Kubrick club = NO talking about chases! ;)

I think the only chases that were ever revealed early were leaked by Star Wars Insider mag (series 6), and they haven't had a Kubrick feature since then. :P

That would be awesome to get a Wampa :o!  If they did that then I could definitely see a Wampa-damaged Luke as the other chase.  A Hoth rebel makes the most sense as the common chase considering the number of Snowtroopers we are getting, but based on the dio picture, could there be two variants (white and brown head gear) like the Cantina Band members of Series 2?  Only time will tell, but the wait is killing me!

Chases:
General Veers/AT-AT Commander (1:96)

I wonder how different this one will be compared to the previous one?

I was just guessing with my post. I was hoping for a Veers wearing is AT-AT Commander armor as the other was just in his plain officer outfit.

I see.  Oops!

Assuming you still have these available when it gets closer to the release date you know I'll be ordering them through you...  Best price I've found with the 'discount'...

Just can't swing the up-front payment right now.

I wanted to make sure everyone knew NCS had their's available since a lot of members here go through them.

General Rieekan in Luke box
Imperial naval officer (black suit) in Snowtrooper box

Chases:
Rebel Deck Officer (1:48)
General Veers/AT-AT Commander (1:96)
FX-7 (1:96)  :P

Well, taking into account the chases from DX series 1, I'd say my earlier predictions are way off. Whatever the outcome, I just hope one of them isn't another Fett.  :P

If indeed the R-3PO and Leia are the one-counts with chases, then maybe I'd say FX-7 and Torryn Farr as chases.

I'm still holding out hope that Leia isn't a one-per. And if they are coming out this month, I might have to have one of my fellow 'sota guys keep some extras for me while I'm away on vacation.

FX-7 Droid (1:96)

Here's who I'd much rather find, but probably a snowball's chance on Tatooine:

I prefer this.  Variants of the basic figure or repeat chase figures is actually a blessing in disguise -- if you are not a completlist.  What if it's Johnny Depp as a stormtrooper?  Between Fett and Depp, they have the most Kubrick releases.

I think what Tiny was getting at is that Medicom's love for BF is only rivaled by their love of Johnny Depp (in terms of the number of Kubrick releases there have been of both).  So it wouldn't be surprising if they melded the two and we got ourselves a JD SW figure at some point...

Yes, that is what I was saying, but somewhat joking that Johnny Depp might show up in a stormy costume.  I like repaint/repack chases that aren't "character" critical (Yak Face, Logray), so DX1 is a blessing that for less than $100 anyone can get the basic 6 + Jabba.  If regular Bib was actually a 1:96 in this set, lots of folks would be sad.

I don't buy this reasoning.

I think that the chases/unique figures are the thing that keeps this line going. If they continue to release weak chases (ala DX1's Boba Fett) fewer people will purchase Master Cases which means reduced sales which could be bad for the longevity of the line.

I'm not holding out much hope for the chases for DX2 at this stage though...

I'm not sure about this.  I've always gottent he impression that the Master Case purchasers out there are the minority when it comes to Kubrick collecting.  Aren't most of these Kubricks purchased in local shops in Japan by the single boxes?  Just look at the whole "insert" thing.  That was geared for store owners to display their kubricks, right?  At least that's how Medicom justified it to all us.

I will agree that for those of us spending big bucks on the chance to score a chase in the wild, these "ho-hum" chases definitely take the glimmer out.  I got lucky and pulled a chase out of a box of 12.  I'm certainly glad I didn't go out for a master case.  I'm still wavering on whether or not I'm just better off going for the basic set of 6+ Build a Fig.  The chases from the Hoth wave will likely dictate my approach for the future DLX waves.
Title: Re: Deluxe Series 2 - Hoth
Post by: JediJman on August 6, 2010, 09:31 AM
I think the chases theory is correct.  People may not buy a full master case, but chases are really the only reason to buy a box and I know most people on here bought at least a full box.  If you're not going to have a chance at a cool chase, there's no reason to spend $180 for a box when you can buy your full set off Ebay for half that.

It does stink when really nice chases come out and they are hard to get without laying down a wad of cash, but that is what helps drive greater sales.

By comparison, the weak chases (DX1) are right up there with the weak selection of basic characters for DX1-DX4.  The majority of the basic 6 for all the DX series have become repaints, tweaked repacks, or vinyl capes versions.  If DX2 chases are battle-damaged Luke and blue star Snowtrooper, I'm skipping a box of 12 again.  If DX2 chases are AT-ST Driver and Rebel Trooper, I'm spending some cash.

Agreed.

As for the box/case/set issue I've covered it all.  A few times I've bought master cases and had the expected luck but I found it a pain to get rid of all the figures in the end, so spent a lot more money overall than probably necessary.  I've still a ton of red royal guards and biker scouts along with a few others just sitting around collecting dust.

The box side of things has never been great for me, I just don't have that kind of luck.  I've only ever scored a yellow clone box (2 chase clones) out of probably five or six boxes.  I don't mind going that way to be honest because the number of duplicates to get rid of is usually pretty small.  But at this point I wait to see what the chase are before I order a box.

For DX series 1 I ordered a sealed set from Ningyoushi and bought Bib off ebay.  For $200 and no extra grief I got the set, the chase I wanted and a tiny chance at a chase in the sealed set.  No score there but that's no different from my typical luck with sealed boxes and I have six less Kubricks at about half the price to unload.  That's working for me.  Sure, I'd like to own the Boba chase but only if I didn't pay extra for it, otherwise it's in the same category as most prequel chase figures are for me - if I get it for retail I'm ecstatic, if not, no biggie.

While I'm hopeful we will get a General Reikan, FX-7 droid, a Rebel Trooper (or two), or a AT-ST driver/Veers in AT-AT Commander gear, I have a feeling we are going to get a brown coat Han with goggles down, another Chewie with snow effects, or Wampa-damaged Luke.  Considering Medicom released a 'damaged' version of one of their Evangelion basic figures as a chase, I could definitely see a damaged Luke in our future...

I still think the red coat Bib is a stellar nod to the vintage era and a great chase piece.  It's not something everyone wants sure, but that's part of what makes it a good chase piece.

The chase pieces for this series are fantastic IMO but they generate a problem for the army builders and are both vintage era pieces as well.  That's great and I'll pick up both for sure.  I think this might be a series worth ordering a box set.

Been thinking about this.  With the more manageable assortment of Chases (that is replacing a 1:12 figure with a chase), I'm considering a Master Case again.  I figure, I can get a full set of 6 + 1 chase + 1 backdrop and still have three sets of 6 to sell and help recoop the costs.  Plus, I think the Snow Trooper commanders will be easier to sell than many of the previous high ratio figures.

I like this entire series.  AT-ST driver is all kinds of cool.  I even like the blue coat Han; it's a legitimate vintage figure as well, so even though it's a repaint, it still works for me (like DX1's red Bib.)

Someone on KN wrote that they should have made a Build-a-bacta tank and a Wampa damaged Luke ("Diaper Luke", heh) chase to put in it, I think that would have been a great idea too.

Probot isn't too far-fetched depending on the package size
Dash Rendar is actually the chase I'd love most and he fits with Hoth, but I don't think they'll step into EU territory on these.

I just about ordered a box but man, $220 to get it from NCSX to me is just too much money for a shot at a chase figure.  Ningyoushi should have sealed sets for about $90 or so again (I hope; and it works out to $100 shipped to my house) and then I'll have to go after the chase figures.

Retail for individual figures will be around $15 for the seller to break even.  Anything below that and you're looking at a bargain.

Big reason why I steered away from a box.  Hard sell at that price.

I ordered straight from Medicom, with a dealer discount of 22.5% off of the retail price, however with the unbelievably low US to JP currency exchange our WHOLESALE cost including shipping (which in and of itself was ludicrous) from Japan ended up being $725 for each of the Master Cases (or 181.25) we ordered.  Most expensive Kubrick release ever, by far!

Yes, I got the AT-ST driver in one case and the Rebel Trooper in the other.  I haven't opened up the third case, yet, however I believe the chases are split pretty evenly.

I don't think one has been listed on EBay yet so I was starting the think the Driver may be harder to come by.  Looks like more popular may be the real reason.

The commander is different than the regular Snowtrooper.
His face plate is solid.
The regular Snowtroop face thingie looks more wrinkly.

The Commander Kubrick looks more like a vintage figure though.

It may stink, but with a single 1/96 chase per case the odds are only 1/4.  Playing it out over the long run and considering the good luck members here have had with single boxes, the odds are simply catching up.   :-\

Oops, haha. I guess it's karma that I lost on the background, then. Glad you got the other one, though. I briefly considered bidding on the chase trooper, but decided against it in the end (think it went for like $110.  And I placed a futile bid for his Mace Windu, but to no avail.

Yeah, I saw that someone had gotten that case for $100--pretty crazy. And individual figures went for like $3.00 and even 1 penny. Someone could've picked up Luke, Han, Chewie and Snowtrooper for under $20/shipped, I bet. But they wouldn't have gotten the cool ones, though...*evil/greedy chuckle*

A box of 12 for under $140 shipped is a steal, considering most foreign sellers are selling for $189 shipped for 12 or $110 for the basic six.  So, a box of 12 for $110 shipped is incredibly insane, and that would be the lucky bastard that gets the 1/96, right?

Anyhow, I appreciate stealthtank alerting the community here, and in the future would gladly pay $140 shipped for DX3 if you want to cut the middle (ebay) man out of it.

Got my set of 8 today.  I really like this set, but I had a lot of trouble with the body parts:
-5 of them had too shallow of a right foot hole to completely cover the peg in the acrylic cases (Luke, Rebel, and Chewie were ok).  I had to use a 7/64" drill bit to deepen the hole so they would stand flat on the base.
-AT-ST driver, R-3PO, and Leia had floppy bodies / leg articulation.
-Chewie's right hand was frozen/glued in place and wouldn't turn.

I liked the trays the chase figures came in, to protect their antennas (helmet, backpack).

AT-ST is okay, but I really wish it was a Taun-taun.  :)

Since he's a chase figure and not a regular one, there are many many unmanned AT-ST's out there.  So, I imagine people are keeping him to pilot the BAF AT-ST's.  Really a bad move on Medicom's part to make this BAF vehicle pilot rare.  (Not to mention the other chase is an army builder...)

Also, he's a pretty neat looking figure anyway, so maybe sellers are holding on to him for themselves.

For those who are thinking about tracking down the Hoth background/display (http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=225084&id=202559486798&ref=mf): Don't. The artwork is pretty crude - almost like a watercolor/marker rendering so it all looks very "fuzzy". Definitely not worth a dime over BBTS $40 price. The Jabba palace one is much better in my opinion.

Interesting.  The cartoony style fits with the Kubricks more than the Jabba's Palace one did.  However, I agree, based on your photos, I could see people being disappointed with this one.  At least people like the Chases!

I'm liking this series, but I do wish Medicom had managed the chases and figure ratios differently.

I don't understand the AT-ST pieces being figure specific- that means they manufactured a whole heck of a lot more legs than the rest of the parts, and what is the sense in that? I do understand that people would want to be able to build an AT-ST by buying just the 6, but it seems like there should have been a way to make a second with the other 6 in the box. Heck, I would have liked 2 of each figure in the box of 12.

I'm just having a harder time with the more expensive boxes, and feeling like they had less in them  :-\ Give Leia a weapon, or lipstick tube, or something  ::)

But I do like the series- despite the two paragraphs of griping-  ;D
Title: Re: Deluxe Series 2 - Hoth
Post by: karamazov80 on September 26, 2010, 10:08 PM
I have wondered about that, too.  If memory serves, you could build just Jabba (though not his base) with the 4 more "common" figures.  So at least only the 3 per case figures would give you useless extras that no one could use.  But with the walker, those pieces will never serve any purpose unless a piece breaks or someone wants to build a diorama with wrecked walker parts strewn about the battlefield.  Maybe they could randomly rotate the parts, so you were guaranteed to get a complete BAF in every "box," but the parts that came with 1 per 12 figures in one "box" would come with a 2 or 3 per 12 in another.  At least then folks could make some use of the extra parts they had.  Others would want to buy them, and Walkers would be easier to "army build."

Another alternative would be sticking the 1 pers with non-BAF pieces or, like Jabba, parts that would improve the BAF but are not essential.

Luke and Leia are phenomenal...I'd rather have seen the AT-ST and Hoth Rebel in the main series and R-3PO and the Snowtrooper as chases.

Enough Chewbaccas already ::) :P

I could definitely do with no more chewies for a while.   ::)  Agree with everyone on the pack-ins as well.  I guess it is inevitable with every box they've released having at least 3x of one figure (if not more).  I'm sure there is added cost to mix pieces/figures, so I don't think they will end up doing that or dropping to 2x of each figure, but it would be nice.  Many people buy single pieces or 6pc sets, so imagine the frustration on the other side if you bought all 6 basic figures and couldn't make the AT-ST because your Chewie was the one with the wrong piece.  I do think there are a few options though...

#1 - they could make the pieces completely random.  It's added cost, but talk about a smart way to get people to buy extra figures.  Many people are happy with just a basic set of 6, so that's maybe a way to lure people into buying a few extra figures.  Might backfire into upsetting collectors, but I think they'd make out with the added volume per buyer.

#2 - what if they dropped the box size for deluxe down to 6 pieces, one of each figure?  You'd probably have to pay more than what it currently costs for 6, but you'd have 1 of each piece in there even if you get a chase figure.  If you buy a 6pc box, you won't have extra pieces and if you get a chase, you're probably not as frustrated about having to pay for that missing figure - no more than a 1:12 opposite-chase like Amanaman anyway.  I know this is similar to just putting 2x of each figure in a box, but I Think they could make it more appealing for people to just buy a set with no extra figures to get the BAF.

The practice of having "extra pieces" isn't really anything new for Mediacom, so I wouldn't plan on them fixing it anytime soon.  You could equally argue that anyone buying a box of S5 had extra Jedi Lukes and Cloaks with no good use for them.  Sure, some people might just want Luke, but I think that's probably pretty rare - I still have a bunch of extras.

The pieces aren't that big - I wouldn't be surprised to see someone mold the rarer pieces and get them out there to build additional walkers at some point.

Still really can't get over the number of AT-ST drivers that have appeared on eBay. I can't think of any other chase that has been this hard to find from the get go. I really want to get this series but I'm holding off until I can secure this chase. Imagine the frustration if you bought all 6 basic figures and couldn't make the AT-ST because your Chewie was the one with the wrong piece.
I imagine !!! Because my K-3PO comes with the wrong AT-ST leg ! I'm disgusting. The ebay seller doesn't want to change the box... I have contacted MEDICOM to have the good right leg and they have accepted to change it.

That's my first message on JEDIDEFENDER. I read your messages since some years but I hesitated to write because I'm french and I don't speak very well english. But this incident in my KUBRICK collection irritated me very much !!!

Besides, I'm surching (like everybody) the AT-ST driver and I was shocked to see that it is nearly impossible to find it on ebay !!! I have always found chase figure with patience but this time, it should be VERY HARD !

If anyone is still looking for one, an AT-ST driver has popped up on eBay. The bad news, it's listed for $318.93 and $65.67 shipping. It'll be interesting to see how long it stays up there...I still can't get over the scarcity of this figure.
Title: Re: Deluxe Series 2 - Hoth

I still don't believe these things are that scarce.  I think lots are tied up in collections and the sellers that have any are holding on to them.  Of course then why doesn't one pop up more than every six weeks or so is the obvious question.

Kinda irritating and if Medicom is going to go this way I'm afraid it'll be another line I end up dumping.  I was ok with paying $150 ballpark for a chase figure (though preferring to wait for a drop in price).  But if they're now going to be $300 to get a chase that's a basic figure from the vintage line forget it.  I can score a pretty nice 12 back Vader for that and I'm not opting for that either.

The exorbitant pricing of the chases are what got me out of the line as well. I might pick up singles here and there but I'm done buying box(es). Too bad, really. Medicom had a real winner here, but ultimately it's just not fun anymore.  :-\

I'll add my "the fun is almost gone" vote.   Not only the crazy-high prices of the chase figures ($300 for a chase is INSANE), but even the regular figures are $15 each if you buy a box.  :(

I stopped being a completeist a while back, which was really hard for me not to have them all.  I know I've got everything through S10 complete, but I started falling off during the Fett Collection.  I'm missing at least 5 rare chases (J-Slot Fett, Red Bib, DLX S1 Fett, Hoth Rebel, ATST Driver) and I'm missing all the carded figures from 2009-2010.

It all just got to be too much money (especially factoring in the arrival of kid #3 in the last year).  I guess I'll just have to be patient pick up the chases I'm missing for cheap in 25 years when collectors are selling theirs to pay for their prescription drugs.  :P

I've sort of been that way about the line for a while as well.  I dont' go out of my way to get chases - that is until my buddy I am Sith pointed out the auction for 6 chases on ebay.  Even then, they didn't cost all that much on a per figure basis.

However, I'm okay with never getting any of the super-rare, super expensive chases.  It just isn't worth it.  I've never been a carded guy so I've saved a lot of Kubrick Cash that way too.

If anyone is still looking for one, an AT-ST driver has popped up on eBay. The bad news, it's listed for $318.93 and $65.67 shipping. It'll be interesting to see how long it stays up there...I still can't get over the scarcity of this figure.

Wow, that's a high shipping rate. Shows up for me at $15.61-$25.28 CDN. Also, if you look at the sellers completed, he sold 1 last night for $294.40 (http://cgi.ebay.com/Kubrick-Star-Wars-DX-Series-2-Secret-Chase-AT-ST-Pilot-/160510080511?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item255f2575ff). Regardless, it's ******* insane! That is all... kak!

And yet the common figs from DX2 are flowing like wine on ebay. Seems like we should've seen a lot more of the chases by now. Actually, this is the first set since I started collecting that I've watched ebay for..Anyone know if DX2 regular sets/boxes/common singles are as prevalent on ebay as they were for previous releases?

Maybe this wave has been bought less by retailers and people planning to resell, due to its high wholesale cost?

LOL!  I hear that.

I know it seems like there are a lot of DLX S2 extras out there, but it really doesn't seem like that much more than prior waves to me.  Maybe its a combination of them not selling and people trying harder to recoup their losses than with past waves.  I do think people are buying less boxes/cases than they used to, which somewhat explains the lack of Leias and chase figures.

I'll admit that the pricey/even rarer chases have soured the line a bit for me, but I still really like the past few waves.  I'll definitely keep getting the basic sets and try to pick up the chases if/when I can find good deals.  I'm about 5-6 figures shy of a complete set at this point, but anything over $130-150 for a single figure is just ridiculous.

Another AT-ST driver has popped up (loose this time). Shockingly its currently at $202.50 with over six days to go. This trend really is horrendous...

The seller has some other loose gems too if anyone is on the lookout for some rarer figures (e.g. Dagobah Luke/Yoda).

I lost out on the Trooper unfortunately, which would have been the most I'd paid for a single Kubrick figure.  This doesn't bode well for me because I just won't pay $400 for a chase figure and when I won't do that, I usually end up liquidating. :-X

Ouch on the Rebel.  I paid $160 for mine which is the most I've ever paid for a single Kub but that got it out of the way.

The AT-ST continues to baffle as to why it's that high.  It'll remain a hole in my collection for a long time though.  I actually had the crazy thought of paying as much as $250 for it but that's so low as to be absurd.

Ah well, maybe I'll go buy an eFX Vader helmet instead.

Yeah, me too.  I got the full set as soon as the series was released, from a private contact in HongKong, not ebay.  No cardboard display, just one of each of the figures, including chases.  I paid $380 total, including shipping.  This was well before the prices for these chases skyrocketed.  I was quite happy, but my seller was probably a little regretful.  ;D

Assuming you got the cardboard display and you're using it, how have you got your kubs displayed on it? Also do you display any hoth related none dx kubs on it? Pictures would be nice :)

I had no problem with the dx1 set as it's smaller and jabba takes up a lot of space and I have lots of none dx kubs for it but the hoth one seems a bit sparse and they seem to be just standing there more so than the dx1 kubs seem to be lol

Anyone else get annoyed when they see ebay auctions from the seller "corndogcollectibles?"  I know anyone can charge whatever they want and more power to them, but to have to scroll past 100 listings of $400 Jar Jar Binks' and $200 K-3POs is getting old. Funny that when a Kubrick comes out that actually fetches $400, aka AT-ST driver, he charges $800.  ::)

If you do an advanced search you can select which ebay sellers you don't want to include. I haven't been subjected to corndogcollectables greed and stupidity for quite a while now. I also include key words relating to Stanley Kubrick films for it to ignore and then save the search. I do an unfiltered search once a week or so but the search setting I have don't seem to miss out anything important.

That's awesome, thanks! Didn't realize it was possible to hide specific sellers. I will promptly block old corndog, though I'll miss seeing his rare and exotic treasures. Many don't realize that if you take Dodo Bodonawieedo out of the package and photograph him on a white background, his value will eclipse that of the entire sealed set.  ;D

Sir Real--That sucks indeed, especially if he made it seem like it was for his own collection. Hopefully next time you leave him out in the cold.

I find myself really wanting a hammerhead (and even Owen), but past re-releases, particularly on a card (Anakin spirit, series 1 chase fetts, Dagobah vader, boxed luke and han stormie, even hibernation sickness han saw another release) make me think I can wait and see what happens.

Holo Yoda
Droids R2
S1 Prototype Fett (red and yellow gloves)

They are all lower priority, so I will probably take a break for a while.  Might nab some repeats like the Han/Luke 2pk down the road, but for now its just sit tight and wait for DX4.   8)

No charge, just whatever it costs to ship it. I'm going to the post office soon anyway so it's no problem. I can send it and then let you know what the shipping came out to.

Sorry, my Kube chases come with me wherever I go.  I picked up a European Man-Bag (it's not a purse) to carry them around in, with a built in GPS locator and blue dye explosive in case I'm ever robbed.  Also thinking about getting a bodyguard and some video surveillance set up... ;)

I heard they are all the rage in Canada, so I had to get one.  Besides, it's Missoni, so I can always sell it for $4,000 if I get tired of it.

Got tired of carrying them around town in your Chewbacca bandolier strap?  ;)

That will be very hard to find.  I have seen a few Hoth Leia's on Ebay, but never with the AT-ST part.  These were short packed, and each box of 12 only has enough pieces to make one AT-ST (with 6 leftover parts).  You might be better off just trying to buy a spare AT-ST to get your part.

Need some major help. My atst decided to fall on the floor and the front guns and right leg broke. Am I right in saying that the right leg comes with Luke? Which figure does the right leg come with as cant seem to find it anywhere! And if anyone has the parts for sale please PLEASE pm me

You can probably work out what parts/kubricks you need from here: http://instinctoy.blog73.fc2.com/blog-entry-891.html (http://instinctoy.blog73.fc2.com/blog-entry-891.html)

Each box has a diagram on the side showing which part is included inside and I think I still might have my empty boxes but I don't have access to them right this minute so if the Instinctoy blog page doesn't help you out I can probably tell you which character you need to source a new part.

edit:

Apologies for the small image it's the best I could find after a quick google search.

I had a feeling this would be the case but it appears you're out of luck in regards to the right leg, R-3PO is pretty hard to find at one per box. Luke on the other hand shouldn't be too hard to find on the cheap to replace the front guns.

I think Jayson has a busted part as well.  You guys should just buy a completed ATST and split the parts.  I may have a spare Luke part if you want it, but would have to wait a few weeks for me to find as I'm in the process of moving and all my stuff is in storage.

Thanks for the quick response guys. I knew it would be that. Repairing the leg as we speak and hoping that'll keep me going until I can find the parts. That would be a great help Jedijman, unless peeps want to go in on a complete atst to get the parts we need?

I've seen the AT-ST driver as low as $275 on Yahoo Japan, so I guess I would have to say 'no' to your question.
Title: Re: Deluxe Series 2 - Hoth

That was a while ago I think.  $400 for the AT-ST Driver doesn't feel too far off, though more than I'd pay.  The Hoth Trooper at $350 is ridiculous - it should be half that.  Of course, these things are pretty rare, so if they're the only ones being offered, that can significantly jack the price.

I've resigned myself to never having them... unless the same guy who "found" a whole bunch of Logray figures "finds" a whole bunch of these DX chase figures.

I'd love to own Owen, Hammerhead, ATST Guy, and Hoth Rebel, but I'm not dropping a grand and a half to get them. :(

I hope I'm not creating competition for someone who was already planning on bidding on this but zero bids so far so I'd rather see someone here get it:

Hoth Rebel Trooper for $150 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kubrick-Star-Wars-DX2-Secret-Chase-Rebel-Rebel-Alliance-Trooper-/151940455535?hash=item23605b5c6f:g:YYoAAOSwLN5WjJ2X)

I had a shot at wining it before they relisted but talked myself out of it.

his other chases aren't bad but the price seems a little high for an opened pair with no Jabba bits

Thanks for posting this.  I have one, but was tempted to get a second for my hoth display.  When it didn't sell, I PM'd him and we hashed out a deal for $130 shipped.   ;D
