I've just started reading about this UGP stuff and its really mindblowing!  Man, this would be cool!
Anyways, I had an idea I thought I'd share.  What about a planet/land that has a dark side and a land that has a light side.  Of course, the terrain would reflect whatever side its on (dark side with spooky forest, dark ocean, etc).
To seperate them, there is a great wall, just like china's great wall, and carved into this wall throughout the entire spanse of it is a relief representing light vs. darkness, similar to the one in palpatine's office in E3.  (This could be done by someone who is good at sculpting, or could even be done by casting lots of figures into one giant plaster cast.)  At points, there are towers on the wall with guards and a giant iron gate nicked, charred, and dented with battle damage.

anywho, just a thought I'd run by ya'll.  Let me know if I could help in any way.

Customizing Tips and Tricks / Re: RTV rubber

ok, I waited 10 minutes last night and it still was goopy, so I waited some more.  I waited a total of about 30 minutes and it wasnt much better, so I stuck the stuff in there.  Naturally, it sank 3/4 of the way in some places.

Will the molds still work if they are like this?  If the top half is just a little indention of where the part jutted out some, can I still put casting stuff in there to make the cast?

cool!  That should really help!  Your idea on the casting you commented on (not thick enough and dripping out before it was flipped) worked well too, just to let ya know.  :)  Thanks!

Ok, I'm gettin pretty frustrated.  For a 2 part mold, I put the master into the rtv mix trying to make it about half way in.  I do this after it has firmed up a little so it doesnt sink (about a couple minutes).  But, when I'm done with this step and come back to it for the top part of my mold, it has sunk down further into the stuff, sometimes burying parts!  SO, I usually have a really shallow indention in my top mold layer.  Any suggestions?

that moff looks good, but it looks like he's in the habit of sniffing some serious glue!  :)

That was really funny!  I loved the reception!

Got a question for you casters out there.
Is there a trick to pouring your resin into each half of the rubber mold and NOT having it run out when you put the top onto the bottom?  Should I let it start curing a little before I put the two halves together?  For instance, I made a 2 part mold of a head the other night.  Poured the resin into each half of the rubber mold.  Put them together and as I was doing this, it seemed it 1/4 of it leaked out, I think because its liquidy.  The result was a big divit where the back of his head would be.

I like that idea as well.  Maybe give him some bulkier armor, some bigger space boots that go up to this knees and have propulsion jets on them, and a big backpack/jetpack.  Also, include some kind of welder or something industrial.

Man, I thought I was part of a minority on here that has no time because of kids, baseball, family time, bedtime, etc. etc..  I'm rather embarrassed that I've not really got hardly any customs to share and I post on here.  I promise, I DO customize though!  :)

I'm currently SLOWLY making molds and casts of a microman figure for me to use as a base figure I can cast and use over and over.  It doesnt have all of the articulation the original has (a lot of it though), but I did make a ball joint for those types of heads on the microman's body.  Plus, I've gotten rid of any screwholes and lines from articulation I didnt use by smoothing it over with sculpy, then re-casting it.

holy crap that is awesome!  What is the material you used on the walls?

How do you all feel about people that customize and then sell their pieces on ebay anyways?  I must say, a lot of the ones I saw were simple boil-pop-repaints and some were just plain hideous!  I'm not trying to downplay the efforts it took to make these by anyone, but most of them were selling for upwards 20 bucks and higher!  It certainly looks very inviting mainly to pay for expensive molding and casting supplies.  What do you all think?

Yeah, I kinda figured I'd have them for a while.  I'm thinkin of gettin them, but when I went to the wm last night for grocieries, I meandered into the aisle with the dyes.  They have the powder and now a liquid form also.  I wasnt actually thinking of putting the dyes into the liquid cast, I was really thinking of dying the cast AFTER it has hardened.  I got on some car modeling sites and a lot of people actually do this instead of painting their plastic parts.
I figured what the heck.  Its only a couple bucks.  Might as well try it.  I'll let you all know how it goes.
