Who was your favorite?
Favorite Scene?

I have to go with Chunk, the dude was amazing

Favorite scene for sure is when he is telling the Fratelli's all of the crappy stuff he did when he was younger...

Yeah that was a great movie.  I remember gazing at the cheerleader girl most of the time.  I thought that was quite the woman.  Now I watch the movie and I'm like "Oh my God!  The girl looks like she is in the 8th grade!"  LOL!

Here's a pic of the cast (and director Richard Donner) taken when they recorded the commentary for the DVD a couple years ago:

Chunk and Data are my favs.  Pretty much any scene with them in it ranks up there.

I've said it once or twice before, but it bears repeating.  Andi grew up to become a MILF  :-*

Data was my favorite.

Scott, thanks for posting this thread.  It brought back A LOT of memories.  All good ones thankfully!   :)

One of the greatest movies ever made!  One of my favorite scenes is when you first see Chunk in the pizza place and he smashes his pizza and milkshake against the glass.  Oh, and when they fix Mike's mother's statue..."If God made us that way, we'd all be pissing in our face."

My favorites were the Ferteli brothers and Chunk of course.

Is that Chunk standing next to Andi in the picture???

I love "Im setting booty traps"
"You mean booby traps"
"Thats what I said! Im setting booty traps!"

Or "Its fake! Its bogus!"
"No is nooooooot"

This probably doesnt count, but my favority Goonies thing is actually the Goonies Are Good Enough music video

Lemon Viper, that's Chunk.  Kind of reminds you of the fat kid Jerry O'Connell played in Stand by Me who grew up to star in Sliders

I actually just got this movie on DVD for my birthday last week.  One of my favorites as a kid (and still now).  When I was a kid, I think Data was one of my favorites because of all of his "inventions", but I liked them all pretty much the same I guess.  As for a favorite line, there's some really good ones (like mentioned above), but for some reason, I've always found it hilarious when Sloth yells "heeeey yooooou guuuuuys" before doing the pirate rescue with Chunk.

I just had to drag this topic back up.  I've noticed that "The Goonies" has been on TV a fair amount lately (we actually just watched it on AMC tonight), and even though we have it on DVD, I always end up watching it when it is on.  I really think it is one of my favorite movies of all time, and is one of those movies (along with the OT and Indiana Jones movies) that I can pretty much quote the entire movie, but I never get tired of watching them.  I still remember waiting and wishing for a Goonies 2 when I was a kid (heck, even now, if it were well done).  Again, nice topic Scott, great movie.

This movie has one of the best deliveries of a line in the history of cinema.  Chunk's "Oh ****, what?" after Mrs. Walsh asks about the potato chip mess is an absolute classic.

Doesn't matter how many times I see this movie, it never gets old.  I can't believe it's over 20 years old now.   :-\

I thought I heard rumors of a Goonies 2 surfacing about a year ago...

I remember hearing this too. I did a quick and brief search and found that it is apparently under development with the working title of "Goonies II: Never Say Die". I couldn't find a whole lot of information about it, so I doubt that if this movie is made we will see it anytime soon.

Anyone remember this gem, the Goonies 2 video game for NES?

That NES game was fun.  There was a little old man trapped in one of the mines and my sister and I would torture him by whacking him on the head with the hammer.  He kept saying "Ouch!"

I think that was Goonies II for the NES. A very fun game and a solid storyline. It was one of the first epic games I played that required weeks of constant play, without chats to beat. I also remember that was one of better NES games because the musical score was varied and catchy.

I remember being in the 4th or 5th grade and standing on the lunch line. This girl behind me was saying that her cousin in CA had seen Gonnies II, the movie, and it was fantastic. I remember turning around and being all happy and asking her when it was coming to NY? She said it was only released in CA. That was a sad thing to hear at the time but after a few weeks I tended not to believe her anyway.

I was just reading this article (http://www.wizarduniverse.com/magazine/wizard/004079256.cfm) over at WIZARD about an upcoming comic miniseries called "The Search for Sloth".  It apparently takes place shortly after the movie (although in current times I believe), with the characters slightly older than in the movie.  I'm kind of interested to pick it up.  Goonies was (and is) one of my favorite movies growing up, and I remember hearing as a kid (primarily when the NES game was out) that a sequel was supposed to be on the way.  This is probably as close as we'll get.

I'll tell ya, the blonde...  Not bad.  She was a pretty homely actress IMO, when she was doing these movies (Parenthood is the only other one I immediately can place her in)...  But she got better as she aged if I may say...  Very nice.

Wheres Sloth in that mix?

EDIT:

OK, Sloth's dead so that answers that...  And the blonde's pics on IMDB debunk my theory, somewhat.  She's a mxied bag of good and bad pictures.  Still, those couple pics look ok I thought.

Sloth dead?  Bummer.

Yeah I had no idea...  i was figuring he was the same guy who played Jason in the some of the Friday the 13th movies or something.  Guess not as I don't think any of those guys are dead.

Which one of those people is "Chunk"?  The guy in front of the older brother there?  If so, wow he doesn't look a thing like he used to.

Corey Feldman...  hahaha!

Do you think they all asked Sean Astin for a loan while they had his ear?  I'm sorry, I'm being mean.

Hey, I beat you all to it with an IMDB search, so there.

I'll say.  The guy in front of the older brother is Data Round.

Chunk's the bald guy in between Mr. Microphone and Rudy Gamgee.

That's what I thought, too, but apparently it was for an article in Empire Magazine.  25th anniversary DVD and Blu-Ray are due next year.  That commentary from the first DVD is still pretty good, I don't know if it can really be improved upon aside from Sean Astin being there for the whole thing.

A little bit of news (http://movies.ign.com/articles/100/1000328p1.html) about a possible Goonies sequel, with the originals in the roles as parents this time around.  They mention having to get around the problem of making an "outdoor" adventure in these days of internet/cell phones/ipods/etc.  It is too bad a simple concept/movie like this, that was a big part of many of our childhoods, can't really make it with today's kids.

My kids (8 and 6) watched it last week for the first time ever and lurved every minute of it.  They were outside playing pirates and goonies the next day.

Very interesting article.  The Goonies is one of my all time favorite movies and I would like to see a sequel made, if it is done right.  What would be even more cool is if they made some action figures of characters from the original movie. 8)  I would buy those in a Heartbeat.

This was showing on AMC last night (and off and on through the weekend I think), and I was switching between it and the NBA Finals.  Although I was aware of when it came out (1985), I guess I didn't realize that this year is the 25th anniversary of the Goonies.  Still one of my all-time favorites...so happy anniversary to the Goonies.  Makes me feel extra old that this movie is that old :).

Speaking of the anniversary, sounds like much of the cast and crew (http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/movie-talk-secrets-and-celebrations-from-the-goonies-reunion.html) got together in Astoria for a celebration with some fans.  They discussed some of the deleted scenes (alternate ending, the Octupus scene, and a strange "escaped Gorillas" scene filmed by Spielberg himself), as well as a Blu Ray release scheduled for this November.  They also continue to discuss a sequel, which Donner says "will happen".  More at the linky.
