Saga Collection '06 / Re: Battle of Tatooine Wave
« on: May 18, 2006, 12:52 AM »
I like the pics but I am hoping that they don't show up at retail until June 1st. Then again, why should I care? I have a case on order from EE so I'll only have to pick up a couple of extra's here and there . . . . as long as EE comes through but I have never been denied from them.

As for ordering online vs retail.  The EE is $91 for 12 figures. If you divide the $91 by 12 it comes to $7.58 a figure, which is not bad. If your paying $6.63 a figure and here in Utah I have a 6.6% sales tax, the figures for 12 come to $84.81 IF I buy all 12 at once ($6.63 x 12 = $79.56 + $5.25 tax = $84.81, a savings of $6.19). When I hunt I go around 100 miles, and my car gets 26 mpg in the city/stop-n-go driving so I spend $11.06 ie 100/26=3.84 gallons x $2.88 per gallon = $11.06 in gas where I live. For some of you the gas cost is probably more since gas is somewhat cheaper here in the Intermountain West.
So for my math, I am actually saving $4.87 iby ordering from EE. That does not count my time either which is usually 3 to 4 hours one night when I know Wally is getting stuff. For the Vader and the Han, I have receits from Target that I can use to return these items though I'll take a hit of $1.55 by doing that but according to my math, I am still ahead.
So, since I teach, I prep and grade before I come home, I have class 1x a week, and an online class Monday through Friday that requires 2 hours a night. Much easier for me to order online and WAIT for the case to come through.  That is the hardest part for me . . . to have the patience to WAIT for the online order to come when they are already at retail. It is a paradigm shift for me but one I am willing to do . . . . . at least in my mind right now. Hopefully I keep to my word when the wave actually hits.  It is hard to know you can get them on the hunt and have them, while waiting for on online retailer to come through. Then again, like I said earlier, EE has never failed me on a regular case. Anyone else have a different view or experience?

$91 may not be such a bad deal if you factor in the gas prices these days... ;D

Maybe if your driving a Hummer . . . .

As it is, far better to order online right now IMO.

I love this wave but yeah...need to wait for it to hit retail.

Yeah, I love this wave also but I think I will wait for my case from EE on this one. I just do not have the time to hunt until July.

Talked to Amazom tonight . . . . my battlepack which should have arrived today . . . .  is currently on backorder with everyone else and is scheduled for shipment on June 11. The customer service rep was nice and upgraded gave me free  shipping.

Jesse, I have to totally agree with you on your post. I've been doing the 21st Century Toys since their D-Day line (around 2000-2001) and have kept up. If I could only collect one line, it would be this one. It shows to any collector what can be done with a line. I compare the Battle of the Bulge line to what I've purchased with Hasbro this year and there is no comparison. The Saga collection sucks when I compare the two.
I guess I need to make a commitment. I've always said that I should only buy those items from Hasbro that match my expectations and desires. In reality though, I don't know if that would matter as Hasbro would continue to do what they are doing, and many people will just continue to buy whatever they put out. Guess I am heading back that way since Hasbro is not matching what they did last year with ROTS.

Power of the Force 2 / Re: Mara Jade - what's she worth?
« on: May 7, 2006, 12:22 PM »
I got 2 each of the EU on clearance when TRU got the POTF2 stuff in back in 1999 or so.  So yes, they did hit out West here on clearance. I acutally got more of Kyle than anyone, and just traded a Kyle, a Clone Emeperor, and a GA Thrawn for some items that I wanted. What frustrates me is I can find one of my loose Mara's, but know I have one or two more and cannot find em. I hate moving! I know its been a year and I need to take the time to finish unloading the boxes downstairs but life just keeps getting in the way.

Am I bored with the figures that are out? I would say yes. I have everything that I want from what has been released so I am ready to move on. I picked up two more biker scouts yesterday for customs of Gree's troops, so now I'll have 3 of his troops to go with a modified Gree. Now I need to find the time to customize.

I've been caught up for over a month now. The only knew SW item was the Gunship my son bought. I am anxiously waiting also for the Hunt for Grevious to either arrive at TRU or come to me via the mail and Amazom.  I have Tat. on order from EE so I am in no rush for that.  I have enjoyed the break over all as I am back to teaching until June 30, and for the fact I am taking master courses online, and have a ton of stuff to do for another class  I have taken all year (I have to build a portfolio to show what I have learned).  Anyway, so the break is at a good time. I can rebuild my money back up.

The TRU where my son and I got ours last Saturday put out 12 of these today.  I know 5 are gone as local collectors swipped em up. It is the TRU in Salt Lake City in Sugerhouse.  Perhaps as time goes by they will be more rapidily available at TRU's.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Battle of Coruscant Wave
« on: May 6, 2006, 11:46 AM »
I have to agree. Here is how Coruscant played out here in Utah, and in AZ, Cal, Las Vegas.
Target got the intial shipment on a Tuesday and usually received 2 Genosis cases with 1 Coruscant wave.  Then the next week Target got 2 cases of Coruscant.
That Friday, after Target got its second hit, Walmart got 6 to 8 LONG cases of Coruscant in per store.
Then the following week TRU got 10 cases off Coruscant in per store, and on Thursday Walmart put out 10 more long cases of Coruscant (along with VTSC).  TRU then got more of the wave in also.

So out West, all 3 major retailers have received what the wave (and previous waves followed this same pattern) in abundance. Walmart here was the first and so far the only store to get the Hero's and Villian's wave.  Anyway, just some observations.

I've gotten jack and **** from Newforce so far...  I have a case on order so I'd better get the damn thing.   >:(  I'm not lookin' hard for VTSC simply because I get my doubles and triples out of my case order...  It's irritating getting no word on those though.

Glad I went with EE for my next wave.  I've always heard how nice NewForce is but that due to issues beyond his control he sometimes cannot deliver. So I guess I have to go where the consistency is. Business experience would tell me that in time, if NewForce cannot get this issued resolved, they are going to really be hurting as customers shy away from them, which is unfortunate.

Yeah I think the backdrop piece is just outstanding... I might go to Kinko's and see if they can scan a few copies of it for me. It's really cool looking.

The price tag is crazy though like everyone has said.  I would think that if Hasbro put this out in the $20-$25 range, and made 1-2 for each movie they could do really well... especially if they threw an exclusive figure in each one...

 :)

I would agree with you on that Chewie. That Hasbro could make bucks especially if they put in an exclusive. Imagine one with Utapau that comes with exclusive Commander Cody?  I love this now that I see that the mutiple backgrouns are available. They look outstanding. If it wasn't $60 and if it wasn't a year with so much coming out, I would do this. I may change my mind and buy one anyway. . . . we'll see how the budget goes.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: 4/30 Target Reset
« on: May 1, 2006, 08:29 PM »
I stopped by a local Target today for the 1st time in 2 weeks. They had reset and had Grevious out on the pegs, along with 2 VTSC Hans.  The basic figures had gone for 2 columns of figures to one, and they were filled with all BUGS! Ran the numbers and they had figures to bring out in the back but won't til the bugs are done.
